About me: Izzy, She/they, 23 I'm looking for people who can write 2-5 paragraphs using functional grammar. I'm not looking for perfect I just gotta know what you're saying. I only write in the third person and ask that you do the same when writing with me. I work full-time in the school system (yikes I know) and I'm also a college student (double yikes) SO response times may vary. I try to respond daily but sometimes life gets extra lifey and it's once a week. Please do not bug me for responses that being said I am more than happy to have some OOC chit-chat in the meantime. Plots: I love to write romance, slice of life, action, mystery, adventure, hurt/comfort, crack, fluff, angst, spice. Like all of the things blended into one. I like to have a dynamic plot loosely figured out and then just continue to build on it as we develop characters and their dynamics. I write both OCxCC and CCxCC NO OCXOC sorry! Fandoms I write for are:

Marvel (MCU and Comics): I’m open to OCxCC, CCxCC, ABO, and Poly in this one I love world-building and meshing MCU canon with comic Canon and our own idea’s as well. If we’re doing CCXCC I do have a preference of M/M pairings but I am open to some M/F and F/F and other paring combinations.

Harry Potter (Marauders Era after graduation only): I’m open OCxCC and CCXCC I adore world-building for this one and bending Canon to fit our liking. I do also prefer to have multiple characters and moving parts in these plots in the background.

Criminal Minds: I’m open OCxCC, CCXCC. ABO and Poly ship here as well. I like to have a nice blend of slice of life and other things with a little bit of casework. Basically the reverse to what the show gave us.

Supernatural: I’m just looking for OCxCC here uhmm it’s been a hot minute since I’ve roleplayed this fandom. I think I’ve seen up to season ten for sure? I am planning on finishing it soon. I think my OC would pair up nicely with Dean or Cas but I’m open to your suggestions as well.

He talks with someone on the phone and tries to keep his voice quiet, but he still managed to yell through the whisper. “¡Por el amor de Dios! My son is out there, somewhere.” he explains through gritted teeth to whoever is on the other side of the phone call. It’s an angry whisper. He runs a hand through his hair, sighing and trying to calm down, before continuing. “And this whole time I thought he was safe.” it’s not really the man’s fault, but Buck can understand his thinking. He gets why the man is so worried, even though he isn’t a father himself, and he unconsciously rubs Chris’ back with his right palm. “I should’ve been looking for him right now.” the Latino raises his voice a bit, most likely not even aware of that, while he emphasizes two last words of his sentence, and his voice wakes Christopher up. or; buck meets a lost boy at the santa monica pier, takes care of him during the tsunami, and then reunites him with his hot-ass latino firefighter dad at the va hospital.

There, he runs into someone from his past and has to keep both of them and others safe when a devastating tsunami hits. 'He doesn’t waste time, plunging back into the ice cold water and swimming frantically towards where Chris is desperately holding onto a light pole. Buck gets to where he’s about five feet away before he has to stop, the current too strong to keep going. “Let go Chris!” Buck says, and the kid shakes his head frantically. Buck’s heart goes out to him - they’re both fucking terrified and the worst of it isn’t over. “I’ll catch you!” He yells, reaching his arm out to Chris. “Trust me!” Chris squeezes his eyes shut and lets go of the pole.'

This can’t be happening. This can’t be happening. “A girl with a drone called 911- she sent me the footage and-“ Maddie lets out a hitching breath. “They’re stranded on top of the 136’s ladder truck.” * Tsunami au in which the 118 find out about Buck and Chris being stranded on top of the ladder truck and come to rescue them before they get separated.

The man from before answered. “Yeah, his name was Buck. He said that the two of them were on the pier when the wave first hit. He uh, he had a weird mark above his left eye, a scar or something. He had a pink shirt on and his kid was wearing a yellow striped shirt, I think?” “The son was named Christopher. Buck had me sit with him while he helped people onto the truck.” Forget the truck bombing. This was the most scared Eddie had ever been. Or: what if Eddie found out earlier that Buck and Christopher were on the pier and Buck was able to find Chris after losing him?

Scratch and Burn by JessicaMDawn - Rated T

Christopher scratches Buck during the tsunami, but the rest of the debris hurts a lot more and Buck thinks nothing of it. The next day, however, Buck experiences a lot of changes that he doesn't know how to handle. Luckily, Eddie is there to help him through it.

Lights Will Guide by SadieYuki - Rated T

When caught in a disaster, sometimes even the smallest thing can happen differently and it changes everything. A what-if fic where Buck is able to reach Christopher right after he falls off the ladder truck and they find themselves in a different situation.

Call It What You Will - Fate? Destiny? (A Tsunami) by abow123456 - Rated M

Evan Buckley's day of relaxation is cut short when a tsunami hits the beach he was relaxing at. He has to fight to keep himself and a lost little boy safe from the water, as well as anyone else he finds. After, he meets the boys father and family, and it causes a snowball effect of good things for him, for once.

Buck is about to answer, about to tell Chris that he intends to always come back, but something in the distance, at the end of the pier, catches his eye.

All Buck wanted was a nice day out with Chris. All he wants now is to get them back to Eddie.

The thing was, the 118 was full of gossips.

Eddie had been at the station less than a week before Hen and Chim wrangled details about his “hot young thing” from him (“Buck is only 4 years younger than me, he is not a ‘hot young thing’!” Eddie complained.)

And Bobby was open about his worries for his son’s lack of direction and the secrets he appears to be keeping (“I just wish I could help Evan find the thing that gives him purpose,” Bobby lamented.)

It just made it all the more ridiculous (and horrifying) when Eddie realizes he’s been dating his Captain’s son this whole time (“Defiling his baby,” Chimney cackled, because he clearly wanted Eddie murdered.)

Or, the AU where miscommunication abounds as Eddie seeks advice about his new relationship, Bobby despairs over his adopted son's career prospects and his refusal to talk about it, and Evan Buckley-Nash juggles training at the fire academy, building a family with his new boyfriend, and trying to work out how to tell his overprotective dad that he's already chosen the life he wants, actually.

It takes a goddamn tsunami, of all things, to get the story straight.

I just read this fic all day yesterday and it made feel sooooo many things! the slow burniness of the love story (five hundred years of it!) the way the doug/maddie fight was handled in a vampiric way and how buck was added into the whole mess slightly (not giving any spoilers but oh man was my heart pounding during that scene!) the way eddie was fucking shot with a silver and holy water infused bullet!!!! and then of course the fantastic sex scenes! perfect balance of kinky and tenderness!!! ugh such a good fic and ngl got me back in my vampire craze that i thought was gone when i was a teenager.

911 Lonestar: when i'm like this, you're the one i want by @thebumblecee

it's during the time tk and carlos are broken up. set in a way as if tk and carlos were in an intense dom/sub sexual relationship. when tk comes to carlos one day needing to get out of his head, they strike up a new relationship to start their dom/sub play except this time keep it platonic. it's soooo angsty and heartwrenching. they want to be with each other so fucking bad and don't know how to just have a goddamn conversation!! also a really good fic on what platonic dom/sub relationship looks like (well at first, it's tk and carlos they get sexy near the end)

Very excited about this week’s theme because the first fic of an author you read is a little bit like watching the pilot of a TV show that has several seasons, but you’ve only just found it. So you fall in love, and before you know it, you’ve blinked and spent 12 hours binging as many eps as you can. It’s a great feeling, to chase the same elixir of magic in each story someone has written. There are several fics I could mention here, but I challenged myself to choose fics purely from memory because otherwise I’d be here all day looking through my bookmarks. 😂

911 Lone Star

No Right to Love You by @reyescarlos: If you’ve been following me for a while or if we’ve had conversations about our all-time favorite fics, then you’ve read/heard my unhinged praise for No Right to Love You. It is not an understatement to say that this story was my whole personality for the entirety of April 2021 lol. This canon-divergent season 1 finale fic is truly epic and filled me with so many feels (so much yearning!). Kim posted it one chapter at a time over the course of a weekend, and when she posted the final chapter, I was standing in line at the grocery store when I saw the AO3 notification and proceeded to let out a loud yelp of excitement. There were looks.😂 This story and Kim’s writing were worth the public embarrassment, I just love it so much. 🙌🏾 It was my first Kim fic, and I immediately inhaled everything else she had written for LS.

Begins at Sunrise by @iboatedhere: Ah, Begins at Sunrise. I’ve read so many of Rae’s fics over the last two years, so it’s really fun to think back to the first fic I ever read. TK and Carlos have the “who are we to each other?” talk on a spontaneous beach getaway because Carlos can’t deny TK anything, and their conversations/interactions here are so Them™️. Also, it’s all just very romantic and there’s a beautiful thread of vulnerability that runs through each scene, tugging at your heart. Given that it is a story set in season 1 circa ep 1x10, I appreciate it was written from Carlos POV and gave us some insight into his headspace after TK got shot. He was so in love already. There are a lot of single lines in this fic that pack an emotional wallop in the best way. As soon as I finished reading it, I hit the subscribe button so fast, and every AO3 email notification I’ve received sharing a Rae original has been a joy.

All Along There Was Some Invisible String Tying You to Me by @tkstrrand: Alternate first meeting AUs are always a lot of fun because I love the notion that these two people will always find one another no matter what. AJ’s dual POV, ER Meet-Cute for TK and Carlos is a personal favorite. The story is lovely, with TK worried about Owen after accompanying him to the ER and Carlos (a stranger at first, also at the ER worried about his partner) stepping in to offer TK kindness and conversation and then eventually both realizing they don’t want their time together to end (and as the reader, you realize you don’t want your time with this version of them to end either). I loved this one a whole lot, and I am grateful it led to me finding more of AJ’s work!

Red, White, and Royal Blue

Before This, After That by @orchidscript:

I have a rule about not reading WIPs because I’m just not the most patient person when it comes to waiting for the next chapter (know thyself, etc). So I wait until the entire story is posted, and then I dive in. BUT every so often, a fic comes along and makes itself the exception to my rule. Before This, After That is the most recent exception. I adore this fic—it’s a great example of why I enjoy reading AUs. I love seeing how a writer captures the essence of the characters as individuals as well as the heart of their relationship and translates it into a brand-new world. This AU does it seamlessly with Alex and Henry. There are certain parts of this story that really feel inspired by Henry’s line from canon, “I thought if someone like that ever loved me, it would set me on fire.” Alex is hired to help Henry recover, but he realizes it’s more than just recovering from an injury, Henry needs to be brought back to life. [insert metaphor about Alex’s presence kindling Henry’s motivation to live]

I love how Alex shows care for Henry. There is a scene early on regarding Henry’s pain meds, and through a conversation, Alex swiftly resolves it. It’s a short scene but a really lovely moment. Henry feels so seen and heard in a way that he clearly hasn’t been since being hurt (or maybe ever). The whole exchange made me 😍😭🥹. The slow burn of this fic is fantastic, and I have also really enjoyed the interactions between Bea and Henry and (gasp) even Phillip. Lol. I am eagerly awaiting the next chapter, and as I wait, I’ll be reading more of orchidscript’s catalog!

Hi! I'm looking for a certain AO3 fic and when I was searching on Tumblr your name came up a bunch so I figured I would just ask if you knew. I didn't want to make a whole post. Honesty I only downloaded Tumblr to look for certain fics because it's a cardinal sin to post on AO3 about it. I don't have Facebook. Sorry if this is random 🤣

It's a 911 fic. Buck writes a book and the main character has CP like chris. There's the office person (who is in a lot of this writers works) who gets buck hooked cause it's NaNoWri month. She also ends of dating Tommy Kinard. They and Buddie buy houses next to each other.

Honesty sorry to write you a message about it. I should try and figure out tumblr so I can do it myself. I am probably the least tech savvy 32 year old out there.

I Don't Mind Waiting (If It's For You)

“Victim is Charles Dumont. Three gunshot wounds to the chest. Looks like an attempted robbery. There was a case of bourbon with a bottle missing and we found Charlie’s wallet tossed a few blocks from here. And Eddie?” Athena stopped just as she got to the door and turned him with a serious expression on her face. “There’s a witness.”

Her frown dipped under the professional mask she was known for and Eddie caught the flicker of concern pulling at her composure.

“You know him?”

Athena pressed her lips into a tight line and nodded.

“Evan Buckley. He’s the bartender here. He was helping Charlie restock tonight when he heard a noise and saw it happen.”

Homicide Detective, Eddie Diaz, is called in to investigate the murder of a local shield and ladder bar owner. There he meets his only witness, Evan "Buck" Buckley.

thinking now about buddie going to bed angry at each other (for something stupid or serious) but buck still holding eddie's hand because he knows he needs that touch to feel safe and fall asleep

Buck was not going to be the one to break. He refused to be the first one to break.

…

But goddamnit he couldn’t sleep.

He couldn’t even remember what the dumb fight was about or why he and Eddie broke the couple cardinal rule about going to bed angry. All he knew was that they fell onto the mattress with a huff and Buck had rolled onto his side and not looked back.

He wouldn’t be the first one to break. It was stupid and petty but it was all he got and he refused to budge.

It was just… he was cold. The blanket he’d thrown over his shoulder was defective because he was freezing cold and who said it could be so cold in California! The literal birth place of the sun or whatever! And his pettiness wasn’t anything like a warm chest with just a few patches of thin chest hair and a freckle beneath a pec he loved to tease with his teeth.

No. Buck wasn’t going to be the one to apologize. Eddie was the one who said Buck apologized too much anyway! And honestly, he may not remember what they were fighting about but he was pretty sure he wasn’t sorry.

Except… it had been like… twenty minutes?

Buck checked the clock.

Yeah, twenty minutes since they turned off the lights and Buck could not shut up his brain. All the words he wanted to say were pushing against his lips and making his toes tingle but his throat felt hollow and sore from the vinegar that came with them.

Regret induced heartburn.

Maybe he should say sorry. He’d probably been stupid again and he hated the silence that was hovering like a storm cloud ever since the lights turned off. Had he been wrong? He didn't think he was but one thing had rolled into another and another and Eddie just kept pushing him away when he was just trying to—

Maybe that was it. Maybe he'd overstepped. Maybe he'd gotten in Eddie's space when he needed space and been clingy and maybe he'd ruined everything again. Buck thought he was getting better but he still slipped up sometimes. He still panicked and held onto to people too tightly, afraid they'll leave. He still—

Eddie let out an explosive sigh that cut through the cloud like a bolt of lightning. Buck felt the bed shift behind him before an arm swung over him like swooping vengeance itself. Buck half expected Eddie to shove him off the bed for thinking so loudly.

But instead, he was grabbed around the middle while Eddie slung his leg over Buck's just above the knee before being bodily dragged to the center of the bed.

Buck let out a confused noise from the back of his throat but Eddie ignored him in favor of pushing himself up against Buck and ducking his face into his neck. The rumbling sound from Eddie was one of pure frustration and contentment before the softest kiss was pressed into his pulse point.

"I'm sorry for snapping," Eddie said. "I know you were just trying to help."

An arm shoved it's way under his head and Buck fumbled with his cocoon — stupid blankets— until he could get an arm free and found Eddie's hand in the dark. Their fingers tangled together as they sighed and Buck felt Eddie finally relax back against him.

Eddie had been tense all night. Buck had been trying to help but... he'd just made it worse.

"I'm sorry for not giving you space."

"Couldn't sleep without you," Eddie whispered, his words already slurring together as the exhaustion crept in.

Buck pulled their fingers to his lips and kissed them. "Me neither. Talk in the morning?"

Eddie grumbled his agreement before Buck felt him breath out a quiet, "Night baby."

Buck was out in a matter of seconds.

Hi there, hope you're doing well! I'm currently all caught up on my shows and am in search of new ones to watch, do you have any that you've been really enjoying lately or that you might recommend?

i'm just out here surviving! i hope you're well as well!

okay this is a question i love answering. i'm not really sure what your bag is, or what shows you've already watched, but i'll rec stuff across genres/tropes. i also, as a rule, never recommend stuff that i haven't watched and loved.

gonna start out by saying that, to me, you won't find better found family dynamics than in Leverage, which is one of my all-time favorite shows and a regular rewatch.

i just finished iZombie and loved it. it's goofy, at times a little gory, unexpectedly touching, the relationships are so good, and it feels relevant to today's world given the current climate here.

i'm generally not that attracted to sci-fi/fantasy, but i fucking loved Fringe. i also very much enjoy Grimm if you're looking for something that's also goofy and doesn't take itself too seriously. also, i'd be remiss if i didn't mention Sense 8.

for legal dramas, I recently marathoned The Good Wife and The Lincoln Lawyer, both of which i found enjoyable. TGW is definitely heavier on the drama side and involves a lot of politics, so TLL is the lighter way to go. (side note: i've worked for law professors for ten years and i find legal dramas/cop shows to be hilariously entertaining because every so often i find myself muttering "you quite literally cannot do that" lol.) also, Goliath is pretty amazing and each season is its own story.

can't talk about legal dramas without a few cop shows, and i do enjoy Bosch, Rizzoli & Isles (the books and show are drastically different, i've found them both worthwhile), Flashpoint, and Numb3rs was pretty interesting in that it was at least a fresh concept.

if you don't mind violence, Hunters is a great show but it's definitely a lot (they're modern day Nazi hunters, and there are flashbacks involving the concentration camps) but fair warning, it ends on a cliffhanger and i have no idea when/if s2 will drop. The Boys while very violent, is also very darkly humorous, which is the kind of stuff i like.

for goofiness with a side of heart, Psych is a great watch. Schitt's Creek is also an obvious choice. also I found The Librarians to be very enjoyable. Parks & Rec is hit or miss for some people. you really have to power through it at first before it finds its footing.

for a good one-and-done, i did like Eyewitness. for an excellent one-and-done, Watchmen is top tier. seven seconds is also pretty good. also enjoyed Somewhere Between because I am hella attracted to devon sawa.

i also really enjoyed Lovecraft Country, but it's also one of those shows that's A Lot. historical drama mixed with horror, if that sounds appealing. the episode where they travel back in time to the day of the tulsa race massacre is one i had to sit with for a while.

thrillers I enjoy are Reacher, Jack Ryan, Person of Interest, Blindspot, and Shooter.

for true crime, one of my favorite docuseries is The Keepers. The Staircase is also an interesting one.

for history stuff, i absolutely love Drain the Oceans. it's fucking fascinating.

The Fall, because Gillian Anderson.

for medical drama, i have a preference for The Night Shift. it ends on a sot of cliffhanger, but i think it stands pretty well as a series finale.

for medical hilarity, Sirens. i laugh every goddamn time i watch it.

I have a very, very long list of shows I started but haven't finished because I find it almost impossible to keep up with shows that are actively airing. if it's a popular show and it's not on here, that's probably what happened lol.

my current shows are 911, Big Sky, and Air Disasters.

💛 What is the most impactful lesson you’ve learned about writing?

to write for myself. to write because it makes me happy and i want to do it. and to (largely) ignore everything else. also, realizing that i get better at writing by writing more was big for me. i had to stop waiting to be good at something to write a certain type of story and just write it. doing kinktober last year was scary but made me way better at writing smut. i didn't think i could do a longish chaptered fic but my big bang is one of my favorite stories. you don't get better by worrying about what you're not good at, you get better by doing the thing.

this is tough. i love writing erica. i love writing tk a lot. i will use any excuse to wrangle mama mccall into a fic. derek used to be so hard for me to write, but i love writing him after getting into his head for my big bang.

oops i cheated. derek is hard, but i like writing him now. patty is really hard to write. i feel like i relate to eddie the most out of everyone on 911 but he is still a really tough character to write and to do him justice.

my favorite way to find fics is 1) my friends reccing them to me 2) finding an author i like and inhaling everything they've ever written 3) looking at those authors' bookmarks. Spy x Family - getting this out of the way bc literally everyone is talking about it. comedy series with a touch of action and occasional drama. fake family turned found family, super cute, anime & manga are both worth checking out

Mushishi - because i think everyone should read mushishi and its anime is super highly reviewed so i trust it. fantasy series. man goes around helping people with monster/spirit/curse related problems and is 100% the thing for people who like going on a journey with a character. it has stunning artwork and i hold it very dear to my heart as it was one of the first manga i read

Jujutsu Kaisen - i think that this is the current best action shonen series ongoing right now (One Piece excluded because it is One Piece and will always be ongoing and always win these things) supernatural horror energy! and great female characters oh my god they are so good I love you Maki. It is just super good and with the movie that just came out easy to check out without investing a lot of time. It has a lot of my current favorite characters in it

Recs for manga

Chainsaw Man - because it is my favorite <3 do not read if you are sensitive to gore. action series with amazing characters. obvious metaphors for how much capitalism sucks. makes you laugh makes you cry, it is very good

Goodbye, Eri - a boy obsessed with making movies because his dying mother asked him to film her last moments, i think this one is better if you go in without knowing a lot since its only 100 pages

The Girl From the Other Side: Siúil, a Rún - a girl and a monster together in a town abandoned from a disease, the very disease that turned the man into a monster if we trust what we are told. a whimsical and deeply sad fantasy/supernatural story with lots of twists but it always keeps that very important father and daughter dynamic the two leads have and I love them for it. Beautiful artwork as well

Blue Flag - hey enough of this action fantasy stuff what about some high school romance! a classic love triangle that is not at all what you think it is, and pulls away from the love triangle to instead focus on what it means to be friends, to go through so many ups and downs but still have so much trust in each other. the author focused on making sure the characters communicate and express things honestly and it is SO good okay. listen this is some of the best high school writing I've ever read

Recs for anime

Fruits Basket (2019) - I think everyone should know Fruits Basket honestly it is a classic for a reason. the redo is beautiful and made me cry I love these characters so much. Tohru is a fantastic protagonist and her journey of self love and accepting that other people love and care for her is amazing. If you're not already familiar with it I'm just gonna throw a big abuse content warning up here. Like every kind of abuse? Is here? Lol? Anyways this is my ideal shoujo romance series brought to life in the way i look back on is nostalgically

Mob Psycho 100 - this series has the best action animation ... ever? with the heart to back it up. it is a treat to the eyes and it is incredibly funny and wild and also will consistently surprise you with how much you care about these characters. mob is baby of the year every year we will all love and appreciate him.

Sk8 the Infinity - is this like? perfect? a must watch? life changing? no. it is simply very gay and the animation is killing it. i want to call it just gay bait but like well. it is simply so very gay? and there are canonically confirmed romantic gay feelings between the two main guys. LOOK if you like gay as fuck camp as hell sports anime go check it out its a nice fun watch. content warning for adam though hes a creep TM like call 911 this man is a predator put him in jail.

Odd Taxi - I have saved the best for last dear friend. A girl has gone missing, it is on the radio station it is on the news when you turn on the TV, but where did she go? And what does a grouchy taxi driver have to do with that, if anything at all. Well what I can say without spoiling too much is that he gets some very interesting riders and you quickly start to put every new piece of info up on a board with red string connecting them but things still dont line up and just. Listen this is an amazingly constructed mystery with great characters and I promise you despite the talking animals it is very much a mature story with clever writing. Please watch Odd Taxi

Hello!

I'm not sure if you're asking what this blog is for, or what a kinkmeme itself is for, so I'll answer both.

It may help to consider a 'kinkmeme' as more of a 'prompt meme' ('kinkmeme' is just the traditional name). When kinkmemes first came around in the mid to late 2000's they were for, well, kink - hence the name -, but these days they are used for any and all prompts that people what to read. If you have a prompt that doesn't involve kink (or just isn't considered 18+) you're still more than welcome to post it.

They work by commenting prompt ideas on the open Prompt Post, and, hopefully, someone will write a fanfic using that prompt. I've written a quick introduction to kinkmemes over on my Kinkmeme Admin Blog. This guide includes what a kinkmeme is and how they work - you can check it out [HERE]. I'm also happy to answer anymore questions you have that aren't answered on that guide.

Regarding this blog, it's simply a crossover blog for the 911 & 911: Lonestar kinkmeme on Dreamwidth. It's main goal is to get a wider audience to participate in the meme by crossposting prompts from Dreamwidth onto Tumblr and vice versa, but it also works as an easier way to sift through prompts/fills if your looking for some more specific (characters, pairings, kinks, tropes, etc) because you cannot tag/filter on Dreamwith.

I'm aware that, with the small amount of prompts on the 911 kinkmeme, filtering isn't really necessary. I simply run it this way due to the other kinkmeme crossover blogs I run, which are more for archiving older and/or abandoned kinkmemes with hundreds of prompts that I've been known to visit every few years and got sick of trudging through every time. SaL anon here friend, still here though its been a very long work week, and still stewing in my bitterness about the OG finale 😠. And by finale I mean season 6 in general. Like, there are parts of the LS season that sucked and absolutely could and should been done better (dropping the marriage plot and 50% of the police investigations to make room for the 3 tragic storylines in the finale to breathe over the season and let it end with a happy wedding pretty much fixes 99% of the problems) but it could at least have been done better. I think if you asked me how to save S6 I would say something like "with a time machine to S4" or "don't try, just burn it to the ground".

And if I really think about it, it didn't start out this way? Remember 1000 years ago when we got 6x01?? I remember being excited because the things being setup looked legitimately interesting for all the characters. Buck starting his leadership arc, Chim and Maddie repairing their relationship, Hen struggling with to balance her job and medical school, Eddie having to deal with Chris growing up (remember that?), Bobby and Athena going to see her family and giving her a chance for closure, everyone had something that made sense for where they were when S5 ended. Even 6x02 didn't look too bad, I though Buck's happiness arc would end up tying into his leadership one, and basically turn into a finding peace with yourself plot. And maybe its just me but suddenly there was this abrupt, weird shift in 6x04?? Like all these wonderful potential season-long plotlines suddenly needed to get wrapped up ASAP? Maybe those scripts were already written before the cancellation news came in because when I look back it feels like a different show. I remember being excited that the firefam was a focus again, we got them back!! And then the slow disappointment as the season went along to find that those moments didn't ever hold any weight. Am I imagining all this??

I don't know if any of this makes sense. When things disappointment me I tend to shift into analysis mode and try and make sense of it, and after thinking back to those first few episodes, i feel like this isn't the season we were supposed to have. Like all that promise in the first couple of episodes suddenly got replaced with half thought out nonsense. Again, I don't know if I'm trying to make a coherent statement here, or maybe checking in to see if I remember things right.

Anywho, hope you are doing well on your end cause we have a long, fraught hiatus up ahead. I've started to watch The Night Agent for a distraction and so far (I'm mostly through episode 2) am enjoying it. Rose hasn't done too much but I see the potential with her character and Peter looks like a highly whumpable partner for her. Can't wait to see where it goes. Got any good recs for further watching during hiatus (to distract me from keeping an eye out for KR hopefully making a career change)?

Hello my friend! It has indeed been A Week and that's even without all the 911 nonsense. You're not imagining things though! There was a lot of potential set up at the beginning of the season, though much like the blimp emergency, it turned out to be a lot of hype for an anticlimactic dud of a season. (I'm also wondering if the shift came about after the cancelation notice went out since it was before October, but also we all saw season 5 so KR just being Bad At Showrunning could also be a lot of the problem. If they were getting canceled you would think they would make an effort to...IDK make it better? Not waste any time? Have all the mains all the time doing all the things? What an idea 🙄)

A time machine back to season 4 would have been nice! LS definitely had pacing issues but you're right that just spacing some of it out could have solved a lot of problems. Also cutting Owen's billion plots outside of the firehouse and giving that time to emergency calls where we see more of the 126 interacting would have helped. But OG feels very much like a "throw the whole thing out and start over" kind of deal. Even the ideas that WERE good were executed so poorly that really just starting from scratch is the only fix. *sigh*

Anyway, I hope you enjoy The Night Agent, it was a lot of fun! Rose is very much "wet feral cat" energy and down to commit crimes at all times, while Peter is so "golden retriever that got left on the porch in the rain" energy it hurts. They're wonderful and I love them so much! Enjoy!

I'm not really watching much else? I started White Collar with my mom since I lost track of that show at some point and never finished it, and I'm about to watch the last episode or two of So Help Me Todd which I found to be some silly, laid back fun. I also really enjoyed Animal Control. It was absolutely RIDICULOUS but also sweet and fun. Shred and Emily are TOO CUTE. I'm working on finding something else to watch, but I'm also working on my Countdowns fic FINALLY even if it's just a lot of bullet points right now. I have some fun ideas I'm excited to work on so hopefully I will be able to get that done before the show comes back to suck the life out of me again. Or, if we're lucky, turn my brain to static in a GOOD way! Also, if you want to dissolve into a puddle of feelings, the new Ed Sheeran album WRECKED me this week so there's that too. I'm just full of emotions!

Hopefully next week will see both of us feeling a little better, or at least on the motivated side of salty and spiteful instead of the mournfully sad side! If season 7 and ABC don't give us episodes we can make song posts about I'm going to pull a Jason Mendoza and start throwing Molotov cocktails.

note: did i think, when i stumbled across this fic years ago, that it would wind up being one of my all time favorites that i return to time and again to re-read? never. did i re-read it for like the dozenth time this year?? 110%. this fic is everything i want from fanfiction—it’s beautifully written, expands on canon, and shows me all the hidden moments the cameras never did (not to mention it’s historically accurate and delves deep into irish politics of the time). the first third or so of this fic is all about tom and sybil’s slow burn romance at downton, but the fic really bursts into its own when we follow the two to dublin and get introduced to all of the author’s deliciously detailed oc’s. heads up warning: this fic was never officially completed, though the final chapter is a beautifully written summary of the final arc of the fic. even so, it’s fucking worth it.

misfire by mothlights & unpossible (6/6 | 28k+ | T) sterek; time travel; angst with a happy ending; alive hale family; magic; alternating POV

“the debt must be repaid,” she says, and it has the weight of a vow. the words resonate through him, ringing through his ribcage and the bones of his jaw, and stiles loses his breath and maybe his grip on reality because she draws herself upright and where there had once stood a supermodel-level MILK now there is galadriel’s much hotter older sister, a presence of unmistakable power in their ordinary, smells-vaguely-of-thai-takeout hallway.

“oh shit,” stiles says.

note: this fic is the first in the misfire ‘verse and i need you to understand that it literally broke me when i binge read these fics a month or so ago. i am a sucker for a solid time travel fic especially bc there are such few good ones in fandom. but this gets at the heart of it all by exploring the idea of stiles getting the chance to save derek’s family and taking it...after he and derek are romantically together in his true timeline and then actually dealing with the ramifications of how that alters everything and how stiles survives in this new present where he and derek are virtual strangers. everyone should definitely read this, but you should also know that i fucking sobbed while reading the sequel (which also has a happy ending, but really digs deep into the nitty gritty angst of the repercussions).

note: look, if you don’t know about down to agincourt by @seperis, what are you doing with your life?? the series is over 1M+ words so far, the fic author is on book 4 out of a planned 8, and it’s fucking phenomenal. i know i’ve tagged a couple of these recs as slow burn but...this is the slowest slow burn to ever burn. canon!dean travels back into the end!verse timeline just as lucifer kills dean and somehow cas made it out alive and has to keep dean safe while he learns to become his end!verse counterpoint. the world building in this series is intense and i cannot recommend it enough. i’m still in the midst of my re-read bc it’s SUCH an endeavor but i highly recommend it to everybody.

note: hello, have you ever wondered what the hunger games series would be like if haymitch’s family were alive? i fucking hadn’t until 2 years ago when i stumbled across this fic and fell head over heels in love with this ship. @ellanainthetardis is my go to hunger games fic writer for anything exploring canon and i’m obsessed with anything she writes about the OG victors pre-canon (finnick, joanna, chaff, etc). this fic is just 300k+ exploring that world and all the intricate details of how cruel the games could really be. HIGHLY recommend. i definitely re-read it this fall when i needed a pick me up.

don’t know what i’m supposed to do (haunted by the ghost of you) by crazyassmurdererwall (1/1 | 30k+ | T) sterek; canon divergent; angst with a happy ending; ghosts; stiles POV

stiles sees dead people. yep. seriously.

(he’s got this. he’s totally got this. so what if one of them is derek’s mom?)

note: did you know that @crazyassmurdererwall is one of my all time favorite people? and that she’s wicked talented? and that in our spare time she’ll send me a billion fic ideas that are amazing and i get to hear all the intricate details of her plot bunnies? but i digress. this fic is one of my all time fave sterek fics i’ve re-read it sooo many times. there’s just something about the heartache and stiles’ insecurity and the way he tries to shoulder it all on his own. and then there’s alli’s brilliant writing, the way she weaves through a scene and paints a picture just so and manages to tug at your heart strings with her precise word choice. there’s some amazing world building in this fic as it explores this other facet of the supernatural that canon teen wolf never touched upon, and i’m so grateful for that bc alli is the only one who should be allowed to write about ghosts and teen wolf together.

plenty of people had looked down on eggsy throughout his life. he had gotten fairly used to it. didn’t mean it was fair, but he knew how these things worked. what really sucked was that the new arthur was worse than the old one.

“eggsy grimaced. he didn’t know how to explain to harry—who seemed like he hadn’t been discriminated against a day in his life—that the new arthur kept giving him what amounted to suicide missions, and that he was currently bleeding out in a warehouse because of the deliberately bad intel she had given him.”

also featuring: dean is harder to get rid of than eggsy thought, his mum is going off the deep end, there are way too many nefarious plots in play, and eggsy is really beginning to wish that harry would stop holding his hand and kiss him instead.

note: look, i know i recced this literally less than a week ago but i ALSO stayed up til 5AM re-reading this last night and it was a-m-a-z-i-n-g. i was on a bit of a kingsman kick earlier this year, so i’ve actually re-read this fic TWICE so far in 2020. i will give you a serious warning in that this fic delves deep into domestic abuse through the lens of a variety of different relationships. it also explores the potential for abuse in hartwin, bc this fic is one of the few that actually commits to the fact that they’re literal spies who murder people. actively. a lot. but seriously, this fic is one of my fave in the fandom and i STRONGLY recommend it.

waste of breath by bryrosea (1/1 | 22k+ | M) loganxveronica; canon compliant; missing scenes; navy; past child abuse

note: bryrosea has an obscene number of amazing logan and veronica fics (her canon divergent series stay with me is another i re-read this year), but i’ve found myself returning to this fic a lot over the years. i’m a sucker for canon compliant fics that explore the missing scenes in between canon and this fic hits all the right buttons by diving deep into how logan echolls went from being a trash fire at hearst college at the end of s3 to being a decorated navy pilot by the movie. it explores logan seeking out therapy and making a life for himself that he can be proud of, all while pining after the girl who got away. and bc this author is amazing, she followed it up with a sequel from veronica’s point of view in the series done by only me.

note: i mean??? i don’t really know what to say except that this is one of the truly most beautiful fics i have ever read. it follows castiel through time as he meets different reincarnations of sam and dean across history and falls ever more deeply in love. it is achingly tender and so ecstatically written that i die just thinking about it. and that summary? i mean. holy fuck break my heart why don’t you? i don’t know how i missed out on this fic for so long since it was published in 2015 but i only learned about it for the first time back in july and it was. life changing?? when the fic finally reaches the canon timeline and he meets THIS dean it’s peak yearning. 10/10 will read again.

note: i read SO MANY of @elisela’s 911 fics this summer, which i loved, and then she got into teen wolf and started writing sterek and i just about died. this fic is amazing, one of my fave sterek AU’s that i’ve read in years. it’s just the right amount of drama and angst and fluff filled with all the joys of miscommunication and character relationships that makes reading sterek such a joy. reading this fic and finding out eli needed fic recs pushed me to dive back in to reading sterek fics for a bit this fall so i can say with the utmost authority that this is one of the best i’ve read in a long time.

note: again, this is the first in a 2 part series titled love me like you do that explores arya and gendry’s dynamics together through the point of view of her family. game of thrones ended last year with a whimper but i keep returning to the gendrya tag on ao3 to seek out new, amazing content and also to re-read some old favorites. i can’t remember if i came across this for the first time last year or this one, but i’ve read it and re-read it more times than i can count since and i love it more than i can describe. i’m a total sucker for outsider POV fics and my biggest pet peeve in canon is the fact that none of the stark’s ever found out that arya and gendry had a history together. this modern au fic almost makes up for it by giving me a gendry encounter with every family member and then the big reveal. it’s peak content.
