I just saw a trailer for Velma and I gotta say, capitalism is truly the end of innovation. The ONLY reason that show has the Scooby gang is because they're recognizable. Every character is completely different than their original. If they made the exact same show without changing anything except the characters it wouldn't change a single thing about it. The connection to Scooby Doo starts and ends with the characters and even then they changed everything about them but their name and basic designs. They're using popular characters to gain viewers while shitting all over the characters themselves. I'm just so tired of every popular piece of media being perverted and twisted just because of brand recognition. MAKE NEW CHARACTERS!!! YOU ALREADY BASICALLY DID JUST CHANGE THEIR NAME AND CLOTHES AND NO ONE WOULD EVEN KNOW THEYRE FROM SCOOBY DOO BECAUSE THEIR NAME AND CLOTHES ARE THE ONLY THING THEY KEPT!

So I heard we were redesigning the Scooby gang for funsies. And character design is my passion so… Have this college au!

I honestly think that Velma would be the only one who’s actually a criminal justice major or going to school for a similar field, but I also think she’d minor in like robotics or something. She’s got a full scholarship bc she’s like a super genius or something.

Daphne is a fashion design major but dabbles in a few other things when she isn’t doing mystery stuff with the gang. I’ve always seen her as a jack of all trades type who can pick up skills p easily tbh. She’s just girlboss like that. Also the fact that Shaggy wears socks and sandals drives her nuts.

Fred is a theater kid and if you think otherwise you’re wrong. Idk much about theater majors but I think he’d focus more on the technical side of things, but he’s still a pretty good actor.

Shaggy just seems like they’d be the type to be a culinary arts major bc y’know… food. He’s also on the college track team bc that also makes sense to me. And Scooby is their emotional support dog. Anxiety service dog??? (I’m not all that familiar with the terms and what is considered like a service animal or not so I’m so sorry if that’s not correct.) Also baggy clothes to hold all the snacks.

I imagine that the gang is still solving little mysteries while in school since chaotic stuff just gravitates to them via the power of being main characters, but I also think it would be fun to have like an overarching mystery as well. And I think it would include the gang noticing that despite the normal lifespan of a dog, Scooby doesn’t seem to be getting any older…

Yes, my donkey situation really wasn’t promising 4 years ago! It was impossible to go anywhere near Pirlouit when I first bought him, he’d just run away and hide at the sight of humans (whereas Pampy could be haltered without a fuss). When he had that injury a few weeks after arriving here and nobody could catch him to clean the wound I thought he was going to die, it was awful. I contacted every vet I could (and it was one of them who told me “well either the wound heals on its own or the donkey dies, not much to be done”), and a donkey sanctuary, and a nature reserve in the region that has wild mountain goats, to ask if (and how) they catch their wild goats in case of disease, and I had the mason build a chute for the corral but couldn’t get Pirlouit in there... It was so stressful, and in the following year I spent so much time trying to get Pirou used to a) my presence, b) the halter, c) other humans, just so vet & farrier visits would be possible. But I didn’t think I would be able to do much with him beyond that, and definitely never thought I would ride him! 

I think he either grew up as a feral donkey, left to his own devices in his pasture with very little contact with humans, or was badly treated in some way. I remember making a relieved post maybe 3 months after I got him, saying I was now able to sit in his vicinity and sometimes after half an hour he’d come and let me pet his nose. Which was huge progress! But any sudden movement and he’d be gone, and I couldn’t just walk up to him, he only came near me when I was squatting or sitting down and if I stood up no matter how slowly, he’d run away. It felt a bit hopeless at times.

We’re good friends now but he’s still quite scared of everything and everyone—cars especially. For the past year and a half I’ve been taking him on little walks along the road (like in this video) and gesturing at drivers to drive past us very slowly. Occasionally someone we knew stopped to chat and Pirlouit would get a chance to gingerly sniff the car and realise it isn’t an apex predator with a donkey-based diet but just a big metal box. When it comes to riding him, we started inside the tiny corral where he couldn’t escape and start running and throw me head-first into a thorny bush, then when I was reassured that he had more or less predictable reactions when I was on his back, I started riding him in the pasture, then in my woods where there’s no chance of encountering anyone. This month was my first time riding him out in the real world—we met strangers! And a tractor! And chickens he doesn’t know! It was all very scary but Pirlouit got through it bravely :)

i know were long past the pitching our own versions of scooby doo tumblr phase but like if i could write/direct just one single piece of scooby doo media i would do an episode (based on the original like 60s/70s run or thereabouts) where the gang is investigating rumors of vampires lurking around a certain abandoned manor or smth on the outskirts of a small superstitious rural town. pretty standard stuff. they hear about the supposed vampire sightings and decide to investigate. its all going pretty normal until they actually spot one, shrouded in shadow at first, and see them turn into a bat and take flight before their very eyes! its a real vampire!

so this huge bat is swooping and screeching at them and everyones flipping out running all helter skelter but then she transforms again and shaggy and scoob suddenly just. stop.

after a sec shaggy starts to laugh. the rest of the gang is like oh god the vampire did something to him or idk maybe he finally got so scared something in his mind just snapped but shaggy is just like lol guys its ok its just sibella.

and sibella is now fully revealed to be a like young teen lookin vampire girl, a little older than she appeared in ghoul school but def still recognizable. and shes super psyched to see her old teachers again and theyre all like catching up (this so called abandoned house is actually her extended familys vacation home (its their first vacation in a century or so and its fallen into a bit of disrepair ok) and shes visiting with them) meanwhile the rest of the gang is like ????

and shaggys like what? i told you guys about that time i took that job as a gym teacher at that creepy boarding school where the kids were all little monsters

and velmas like ............we thought you were being hyperbolic

and daphne and fred are just like EVERYBODY SHUT UP MONSTERS ARE REAL?? FOR REAL??? NOT JUST OLD DUDES IN COSTUMES???

and velma says smth like what are you talking about? every time weve investigated some supernatural phenomenon its always been a guy in costume, how could you possibly have deduced from that that monsters are real??
