Anime recs (some of my personal faves, not the public opinion, obviously):
About sports:
-Haikyuu (I am caught all the way up to season 4 and I have never been more passionate about volleyball in my life, not even when I played it)
-Run the Wind (it's about running but also...friendship? and motivation to follow your dreams?? I mostly just recall relating to some of the lazier characters and sensing the brotherhood vibes. It feels slow at first, but if you get invested you realize that you've binged the whole thing.)
-Free! & Free! Eternal Summer (you wanna get emotional attached to a bunch of teenage swimmers? I don't know why all these sports animes are about guy groups, but here's one about some divas -I mean swimmers. Quite the lil quaint group of nuggets, I gotta tell ya.)
About magic/supernatural
-Sailor Moon (need I say more? She's our queen and we are never too old to watch her steadily turn from crybaby to warrior of the people. If you know, you know. FIGHTING EVEIL BY MOONLIGHT-!!)
-Avatar: the Last Airbender (technically counts as an anime. Holds my entire childhood, every personality trait I have...for sure came from characters in this show. Iconic. Never loses its charms. Lots of magical realism that is centered on the natural elements of the planet, some spiritualism too. Appa is reason enough to watch this show.)
-Legend of Korra (technically a sequel storyline to Avatar: the Last Airbender, but...it's SO DIFFE R E NT. I was at first put off by my lack of OG characters, but there are so many references embedded in there, and you get to meet everybody's kids and grandkids. Also Korra? The embodiment of female pride and power, nothing will forsake her for long. Kinda STRESSFUL how many obstacles the writers create in a single season...let alone 4.)
-Inuyasha (on oldie but a goodie. Technically the first anime I ever saw...*sigh* ah youth...Anyway, it'sset in feudal Japan, but there's time travel so you won't feel too out of place. There are of course demons and magical priestesses and demon hunters and cranky, frankly exhausted, old women. Has a quality plot line and great characters. There is a new sequel show airing about the future of the characters and their bloodlines, I've only seen an episode or two but the nostalgia alone made me want to weep.)
-Fairy Tail (a CLASSIC. It has magic and dragons and FAERIES and found family and is so loveably chaotic, also: hype af fight scenes)
-Soul Eater (another chaotic group of teens that fight impossible battles, the intro music always hits hard for nO rEASON, a little more blood and angst but not like not enough to cancel out the immense joy/annoyance that is Excalibur)
-Noragami (a new take on the concept of how gods are created, sad boi hours have started, wholesome main characters, the graphics are beautiful, some of the monsters can be a tad creepy - but I'm a wimp so it could just be me)
-Bungou Stray Dogs (I HAVE ADOPTED ATSUSHI. HE IS MY SON NOW, THANK YOU FOR COMING. The art style is one I enjoy, very crisp lines and a good variation in character designs. The protagonist is named Atsushi and he is a golden child who must be protected yet allowed to flourish at all times. There is detective work, some great fights, lots of random character flaws, OH and honey the story line is TWISTY!!)
-My Hero Academia/Boko no Hero Academia (this is the show where my broccoli son goes THROUGH IT literally the WHOLE TIME. A great story of the underdog, and the variety of characters and powers are...*chef's kiss*, makes me want to lowkey live in this universe but the amount of villians... gurl it'stoo much for my weak heart smh)
- Cannon Busters (okay, so I know people have mixed opinions on this one. Lemme say this: the intro and outro SLAP, point blank periodtt. The characters are diverse in color and abilities, it's like wild west meets technofuture meets medieval magic war times. The plotline is very all over the place, but hey it's the journey right. If you don't love SAM and Casey by the end of episode 1 you're doing it wrong.)
-BNA: Brand New Animal (the art style is so freaking cool yet cute we luv to see it. The world building is pretty good, basically it'slike Zootopia, but there are way more issues with this island o animals that have a human form half the time. Our main character is determined and just a tad naive, there is a wolf man with a pet crow and we're all okay with that)
-Sirius the Jaegar (straight up, I have no idea how my sister and I binged the whole show in like 2 days, but we did. Great fight scenes, the is blood but... that's because there are vampire-esque creatures also. The main character's childhood got done dirty, but go off on your origin story I guess.)
About slice of life:
- My Little Monster/Tonari no Kaibustu-kun (a wholesome high school romance with oddballs left and right, but you just wanna root for 'em y'know? A good wind down show. There's a chicken in it.)
- (Kaichou wa) Maid-Sama (an unconventional and lowkey erratic main heroine, the love interest seems weird but you'll adore him by the end, just simple high school shenanigans with ridiculously dramatic conflicts)
Phew, that was kinda long 😓 but those are just some animes that I have watched thoroughly off the top off my head to give you a good variety of options. Let me know if you already have seem any of these. Hope this helps you fight off boredom and repetition. Please tell me your faves, I love hearing about new shows!! 🤩 (And btw, my sleep patterns wrecked, I've been going to sleep at like 3AM 😅 Hahaha, send help.)
love love LOVE THIS!! Thank you for sharing babe ❤️❤️❤️ i actually haven’t watched that much anime so i’m glad to get a rundown on some good recs!
also!! i feel u!! team no sleep ftw

Dear Yuletide Writer
Dear Yuletide Writer,
Thank you so much for writing for me! :) I can't tell you just how excited I am. This is my first Yuletide and I guess I'm super nervous, but also looking forward to it. :)
Please feel free to browse my ao3 (KitKaos) and/or tumblr to get an idea of what I stan, like, read or write. I hope I can give you some broad ideas and inspirations in this letter to help you plan. Do feel free to fall back on my general likes if the prompts don't do anything for you. Or just use the prompts, whatever works best for you. Oh, and should you, dear Yuletide Santa, want to write in German and not in English, then I'm definitely okay with that. I'm fluent in both, so whichever you feel more comfortable with. If there's something missing or if you have a question, you can reach out to me via the mods.
General likes: I'm a sucker for the old friends-to-lovers or even enemies-to-lovers (with all the drama of grudginly admitting that the other party maybe isn't all that terrible and all). Things I'll never get tired of include coffeeshop AUs, spy AUs, musical AUs, found families, fake dating, pining, crossdressing, drunken shenanigans, fish-out-of-water situations, pop culture references, etc. Just about any kind of scene you can sneak in there about cooking or eating food (also characters being picky about certains foods and other characters going to some lengths to accommodate that) will make me happy, too. I do have a thing for descriptions of food and expecially impressions of taste - and if you want to make it kinky: food play. ;) I also have a bit of a hand fetish - so descriptions of hands are always welcome. If you want to do it, I probably also won't say no to someone breaking the Fourth Wall, any kind of alternate history AU, crossovers of my fandoms, or even some lovely steampunk aesthetics.
Do Not Want: rape/dubcon/noncon, watersports, scat, humiliation, A/B/O, soulmates AU, vampire/werewolf AU, second-person pov, character bashing of any kind.
*
Fandoms
Just two more thing before I go into detail: 1. The prompts below are nothing more than ideas - feel free to ignore them if you have a better one. :) 2. Not all of the characters need to be used in every prompt; pick and choose as desired.

Dial H for Hero (DC Comics)
- Summer Pickens, Miguel Montez
The 2019 12-issue run is just pure love! There is worldbuilding galore, relatable characters, a wonderful coming-of-age and initiation plot, interdimensional shenanigans, the question how Joe Average could get addicted to sudden superpowers, and so much fun with the concept of Superhero Secret Origins. Summer is a wonderfully strong and caring female lead and Miguel is a self-conscious little oddball.
As for prompts: Seeing more of their Metropolis adventures or Red/Yellow/Blue/Black Dial transformations would definitely be a lot of fun. Also, there's this cute boy Miguel asks out in the comics and I would love to see that first date. And what about Summer? She definitely won't be reduced to sidekick!
Feel free to include any other ((teenage) superhero) cameos you feel like. Please do not pair up Summer and Miguel romantically - although I don't have any problems with a fake relationship fic for them. ;)

Masks: A New Generation (Roleplaying Game)
- any / worldbuilding
I only just disovered Masks as an RPG, and ever since I started playing, it's probably the most fun rping I've had in a long time. I love that playbooks are not by the type of power but the type of problem each teenager faces personally. Like, how do you juggle school, first love, being different in a way no one should know about, being different maybe in a way people will immediately see, adults telling you who to be, chores, and being part of a young superhero team that wants to make a name for themselves? It's hard. And the best sessions alternate between deep emotional connections, hilarious teenage drama and great action scenes.
As for prompts: I would love me some good worldbuilding - so maybe there is a reason the Scarlet Songbird is still around? What was Halcyon City like back in the days of the Golden-Age heroes? What has changed since then? How do especially the older generations view the naming conventions going around for new heroes? Is there a code to follow? Who in Halcyon City pays for all the damage to buildings and infrastructure caused by superhero-supervillain fights? What was it like back in the olden days for the Golden Age heroes as opposed to now?  Are there cultural exchange programs with any of the alien races visiting from time to time? Give me a day in the life of an average Halcyon City citizen - they don't even have to be all that close to an epic fight or something. Just their way of coping with the daily madness of a huge city housing most of the world's superheroes. If you like something a little more character-specific: The one actual-play podcast that does it best in my opinion are the Theatre of the Mind Players with their "Future Shock" and "Past Tense" seasons of Masks. And I would love to read more about these characters. Have Sparrow and Figment finally get together. Give me a glimpse of how Horizon assembled his ersatz mom. What will Helix and Remix get up to?
Where to find it: The core rulebook is available from Magpie Games. The Theatre of the Mind Players’ Masks sessions can be found on Youtube.
Tumblr media
Super Sons (Comics)
- Jonathan Samuel Kent, Damian Wayne
Super Sons is how I finally came to like and care for Damian Wayne - which, if you know me, is a major achievement! He is still a huge brat, don't get me wrong, but Jon's influence on him and the way he is confronted with certain issues he has... it's magical! It's wholesome! It's healing! They are both so fiercely protective of each other, and they both grow as characters from their experiences with each other.
As for prompts: So, dear Yuletide Santa, give me character growth and banter and friendship galore. I can see slumber parties at Wayne Manor or at the Kent farm. I can see them getting lost in space and time. I can see more adventures once they're at the same school. I can see a canon-divergence AU where Jon is finally admitted into the the Teen Titans at age 13 - how would that go? Or how about an Interrail Buddies AU?
If you want to write slashfic for them, I will not say no but would probably prefer to age them up a bit. I also most definitely don't mind any background appearances of any of their families.

Superman Returns (2006)
- any (Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Richard White)
I still love this movie a lot - not because it's particularly spectacular, but it treats the characters with love, it treats the legacy of the Reeve movies with love and it leaves SO MANY questions for fanfiction authors to answer. ;) I mean, I've been a Superman fan for a long time and I've discovered that I'm most comfortable with a Clark who wears a mask both as Clark Kent and as Superman, who isn't either of those two (and who is fallible). And whenever someone learns of his secret identity, they will see that he's so much more than either Clark or Superman. I know Lois is a fairly underdeveloped character in this movie, so I would love for her to be treated not just as a prize, especially since there were those years of her having to put her life back together after Supes just up and left.
As for prompts, I've always wondered about the different coping mechanisms (Lois turning bitter, Jimmy starting up daydrinking - WTF?!) and just how their day-to-day business changed without Clark and Supes there. Give me the Planet staff banding together to rescue Lois when she remembers just that second too late that there will be no superhero to save them (I also wouldn't mind any of the Bats helping out secretly, if that's up your alley). Give me Jimmy trying not to think too much and instead getting on Lois' nerves until he's rescued by Richard intervening. I am also an absolute sucker for continuation fics, so how do things settle down after what happens in the movie? I would love for some real Clark and Jimmy bonding moments, maybe even Jimmy finding out or having known all along and covered for Clark. I would love for some truce and real friendship blossoming between Clark and Richard, as they are both intelligent, compassionate, insightful men. If you want to include Jason anywhere, feel free to do that, as he makes for such a wonderful catalyst for disaster. Feel free to write gen or any canon pairings - I'm also okay with non-canon het/slash pairs (or threesomes) as long as they make sense in-universe. ;)
Where to find it: Sadly, the movie doesn’t seem to be streaming anywhere, but since it’s 14 years old now, you can buy it relatively cheap.
Tumblr media
Young Justice (Comics)
- Tim Drake (but do feel free to have any of the other characters in the story, too)
No matter if you're into the old 1990s YJ comics, the companion comics to the cartoon show, or the new 2019/20 version of the comics - I love all of them! So much I don't even know where to begin... The snark! The lovable teenage stupidity! The friendship that goes above and beyond! My definite favourite is Tim, because he is such a bright, snarky, secretive, repressed little bird (the moment he takes off his domino mask to reveal a second one underneath? priceless)! I also love his deep friendship with the others because that's his found family. Yes, Batman is his mentor (even though Tim might understand B better than the other way round sometimes) and Dick is his older brother and idol (hero worship, anyone?), but Young Justice is where he wants to be himself and all of it.
As for prompts: Even though I did not put either Cassie or Cissie in my request as I want something Tim-centric, the dynamic with those two strong-willed girls is definitely something I would love to see explored more. Also how the dynamic with the bats is so very different than the Young Just Us dynamic. What's it like being the one without powers in a group of hormonal teenage superheroes? I also just realized that I would love to see more of Mister Sarcastic trolling the rest of the gang. Or how about: What if Tim had powers for one day? If you're into the 2019 comics, how about a 5+1 of Why Drake May Or May Not Be A Good Superhero Alias. If you want to include the rest of the gang, you're definitely more than welcome to. Tim and Kon's bickering and outright arguments in the beginning turning into such a solid friendship (or more) is something I can read about time and time again. Pretty much the same goes for Tim and Bart. Or how about some Wendy the Werewolf Stalker shenanigans? Why is having girls in your group a bad/good idea? How did Cassie's becoming the team's leader affect Tim's sense of self? Heck, if you feel like it, open up the love triangle Tim-Cassie-Kon since there's like a ton of history there. Oh, and anyway, why is Stephanie Brown never part of any of Tim's teams? Dear Yuletide Santa, do also feel free to include any of the other teens (I have a soft spot for Li'l Lobo/Slobo).
Where to find it: Your trusted comicbook supplier.
Overall, I’m sure I’ll love what you have for me, and I'm looking forward to reading it! <3

Current RPG games
5e Game 1: Stonehell (Wednesdays, alt)
Tumblr media
I’m dming this one, it’s pretty classic. Just my group of adventurers, consisting of a half-drow Barbarian who is obsessed with her family legacy of mapping dungeons, a Drow rogue who fled the underground yet cannot escape it’s lure, a kenku rogue who wants to eat shiny things, a bugbear fighter raised among humans who is sending money home, a tiefling sorcerer mystery novelist, a water genasi cleric who is not the brightest, and a Minotaur fighter who seeks honor and redemption through boneheaded decisions; all of whom are trying to delve deep into the ancient dungeon complex of Stonehell.
5e Game 2: Waterdeep Dragon Heist (Wednesdays, alt)
Tumblr media
Alternating weekly with Stonehell is Waterdeep, which I play Sir Fionn MacMorne, a Ranger from the Moonshae Isles who came to Waterdeep hunting wererats. The rest of the party consists of a self conscious Wild Mage / Bard who only feels confident when performing as her alter ego, her gnomish adopted brother who is a necromancer with no necromancy spells, a kobold monk seeking revenge on the arena owner who enslaved him, a barber /cultist of a Fey Moth deity hunting his evil brothers, an amnesiac elven druid who may have been an Asmodeus cultist, and a romantic Tabaxi swashbuckler who just got engaged. It’s a lot more of a slice of life game then the first.
5e Game 3: Legacy of the First Growth (Mondays, alt)
A recent addition to my schedule, this game is a world hopping Spelljammer game. I play Decuron Krazag, a hobgoblin warlord from Mystara. The group has thirteen party members, including a cyborg artificer, a winged kobold philosopher, a death knight rune blade, a aaracocra rogue, et cetera. This one has a lot to keep track of and the DM doesn’t really want us knowing each other’s classes out of character. Thus far, we’ve blown up a Drow pirate fleet and crash landed on a planet dealing with an infection that either kills you or turns you into a weredragon.
Godbound, (Tuesday’s, intermittent)
Tumblr media
Godbound is a free DND clone where you are playing as nascent deities, it’s hysterical in how overpowered PCs are. I play as Captain Zenda, a sky pirate with a grudge against the Empire and powers over luck. Our pantheon also includes a goddess of invention and dancing, a nerdy god of heroics and adventurers, a grim reaper, and recent addition creepy owl god. We’ve battled against corrupt priests, founded a city with the help of a construct formed from the memories of a pre-collapse hero, fought an anti-matter being in the bowels of a pyramid, and stole a seed from a corrupted artificial god. It’s a lot of fun.
Masks of the Week: Average Academy (Thursdays, alt)
Tumblr media
The third season of our Monster of the Week game has shifted to the RPG Masks, as we’re playing college age heroes in training at the newly formed Average Academy. I play Benedeck Montauk, a delinquent oddball who never used a door in his life he could help it. We have some characters who are children of previous PCs, such as Theo, the son of werewolf asskicker Axel from our first season, and his best friend Takeo, a half oni half wizard. Others include Vic, a sapient blob from the Void dimension; Leslie Lawton, Benedeck’s rival on delinquency who has fought with him in 2 of 3 sessions; Tamao/Tamako, a genderqueer fox yokai who likes pulling pranks. There are more characters, but once again there are a lot of them.
Night’s Black Agents: The Dracula Dossier (Thursdays, alt)
Tumblr media
This conspiracy thriller follows a group of burned spies battling vampires through Europe. I play Vasili Melnik, a Ukrainian hacker and mobster. We have a Siberian Ex-Spetznaz mercenary, an Egyptian analyst, an American confidence man, and a French cat burglar. This is our darkest game, tone wise, as we are unraveling a conspiracy involving vampires, pharmaceutical companies, British intelligence, and more. No one can be trusted, and the team is not united on what the plan should be.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell *Major Spoilers*
I wrote a little about this book last month, but I want to write more. This is one of those books that has been lingering in my brain so what follows will be long and rambling.
Now, I haven't read Fangirl I've been pulled more toward action adventure and humor in my fiction, for a while now. Hmm, I wonder what could have happened a few years back  that would cause a Pacific Northwest liberal to feel the need for escape? Just one of those things, I suppose.
I need to read it, if only because I wrote Harry Potter fanfic for years and sort of lost myself in it right after high school.
Anyway.
I've heard people calling Carry On an HP knock off. I don't get this. Simon Snow is obviously Fangirl's Harry Potter. That makes Carry On more of a tongue in cheek homage to HP and stories like it as well as something of a love letter to fanfic writers.
A lot of the main characters start out as your standard for this type of story. "The Hero", "The Mentor", "The Damsel", "The Enemy", "The Unspeakable Evil."
Through the book it becomes clear that our hero is well meaning but ill-suited for the role that his mentor thinks he place him in. The mentor is shown to be unhinged. The damsel is sick of screaming and doesn't want to be in the story at all. The enemy is love sick for the hero and dealing with the puberty from hell. The unspeakable evil, isn't. Its just an unforeseen byproduct of the mentor's plan, in which, the hero, is a pawn.
The book plays with archetypes and I read some of them as being fairly meta about their expected place in the story.
Agetha, especially, seems to know her role and resent it. She's who is saved by the hero, whether she likes it or not.
Baz is so certain of his role as "The Enemy" that until his role flips, he's sure his destiny is to be killed by the person he's in love with.
Simon knows his role so well, he's on auto pilot as a defence mechanism. He's either going to die, or he'll get a stock Happily Ever After. He doesn't even allow himself to think too much about what really matters to him, because he knows his life isn't really his.
I would have loved this book because of everything I wrote above, but add to it the nods to fan contribution? It was enough to make me remember my old ff.n login!
I don't know if Rainbow Rowell researched fan fiction but I figure she must have.
I mean, the things I saw played with and reshaped in Carry On, are fanfic tropes. Rowell took things that grew out of fans having fun with their favorite characters and made them canon.
Main character going out with an exchange student, pop culture references, evil good guy, and:
Four words: Draco is a vampire.
Sure, not every fic that used these were the best, but so what? Many were sincere.
What better way to go to Hogwarts as a person raised outside the UK than to live though an OC in an exchange program?
It was weird that no one in the wizard world listened to muggle music, watched movies or TV. Even the muggleborns? I'm sorry, but I was in the same age range as the characters. In fact, if Harry were real, he would be three years older than me. You can't convince me that there were not at least a couple of muggleborns who were  sending an owl a week to remind their parents to tape Friends or My So-Called Life.
There were a fair few stories where Dumbledore or even Harry turned out to be evil. Even before we found out Dumbledore wasn't a saint. It can be fun to play with expectations and Dumbledore was too perfect for too long.
The vampire thing? I mean, why not? Either Draco or Snape. It fits enough for a fic, and you can get some fun stuff out of it. Besides Hogwarts allowed a warewolf, why not a vampire?
The point is, this book reminds me of some goofy fics I read but also reminds me of some that I sometimes have to remind myself aren't canon, because fan fiction can be amazing.
Example: It has been years but I still remember a great fic that someone wrote about Uric The Oddball's years at Hogwarts. I don't remember much about it off hand but I do know that if I re-read HP, when Uric is mentioned, I think of this story like it is something that is actually in the history of the series. (Dude, I googled "Uric the Oddball fan fiction" on a whim. Popped right up: Uric the Oddball and the Wild Hunt by Ariana Deralte. Guess I shouldn't be surprised! Maybe I should read it again to see if it's still as good as I remember).
So yeah, Carry On is so not an HP knock off and has a number of things that I think make me like it more.
The first one is diversity. It is very nice to have it explicitly said in the text that characters are of different ethnicities, sexualities, and abilities. Watford is a far better representation of a population than Hogwarts is, outside of fanfic (It wasn't there, people wrote it in).
Then there is magic itself, it comes from somewhere it's in the environment, it has to do with celestial alignment, people give words power to channel that energy.
That brings me to something that made me adore the world building here.
The actuality of Simon Snow's universe is that Mages cannot exist independently without the Normals. Without the Normals giving weight and meaning to turns of phrase, rhyme and songs, the Mages couldn't do what they do. Add to that, this means that magic is ever evolving and the Mages must learn about and be a part of, to some extent, the Normal world. This makes Mages who look down on Normals seem even more ridiculous.
I also think this book handled romance better than Harry Potter. I don't know what it was but the relationships seemed awkward and strained in HP. Maybe it was because most of it was shoved into one book, like Hogwarts's water supply was spiked with hormones? I don't know.
What I do know is that even though Simon and Agetha are going through the motions of being together in this book, they still feel like two people who have been dating for a long time.
We don't get a lot about Penny and her boyfriend, but the way she is described talking about him reminds me of how my best friend would talk about her boyfriends when she was visiting me. The way she would go on, you'd think that he was on the moon instead of 90 miles away. I bought that Penny and her boyfriend enjoy each other's company.
And the biggie. Simon and Baz
I almost didn't read this book for two reasons. First: Vampire main character. I love vampires, but I lived through the deluge of Twilight, True Blood, and Vampire Diaries, not to mention that every other book seemed to be about vampires. Even though I didn't watch or read all of them, I just got vampired out.
Second: I have never been one for the whole "enemies to love interest" thing. The Harry/Draco pairing never spoke to me.  Not that I never read fics that managed that ship well, it was just not my favorite, probably because I just never liked Draco.  I tend to prefer romances that are built on friendship (Remus and Sirius dated each other at some point, and nothing can convince me otherwise).
All that being said, I like the Simon/Baz pairing.
I like that Baz freely admits to the reader that a lot of his tormenting of Simon is pigtail pulling.
I like that Simon is more or less: "I like a guy? A guy who was my nemisis? That's new, let's go for it."
There's none of that "Hate turns to love" shit that I personally can't stand.  None of the "I am evil, yet his light draws me" or "His darkness is so seductive"
Baz isn't a villain needing to rethink his position. He's a slightly snobby guy with a lot of family pressure, who is in love with a dude who has been set up as opposition, by the adults in his life.
Simon isn't a good guy wanting to be bad. He's a guy who is following the path set out for him without giving context to his feelings with thought, because he doesn't think. So, when Baz doesn't show up at the first of the year, Simon knows 3 things for sure:
Baz is his enemy
His enemy is not there
He feels very uneasy about it.
Why?
See numbers 1 & 2
This equals out to "plotting" in Simon's mind because that's what enemies do.
It doesn't dawn on him that he was actually missing Baz and that he has romantic feelings for him until later
I also like the interaction between them. Again, I buy that they like each other. The simpler moments, like sharing food, or being flirty. It also makes sense that Baz is so nervous and guarded about the relationship. It fits that they would bicker and argue while trying to figure every thing out.
The relationships feel authentic.
In fact all of the relationships between  the characters feel authentic.  The sibling relationships between Ebb and Nicky, I know siblings that close. The interaction between Baz and his little sister, I know people like them too. The Friendships; in my opinion, too few friends in fiction are depicted messing with each other or being lovingly annoyed by each other.
I've known my two best friends most of my life. Not a day goes by where one of us doesn't say something that if it was said by anyone else, it would lead to a fight. Said by us, it's funny, or at least something we can't argue with.
So I related when Baz's friend complained that he had wasted his childhood hating Simon now that Simon and Baz were no longer enemies and Baz said: "What else were you going to do with your childhood?"
I spent my 20's with my friends seemingly taking turns crashing at my apartment. I spent most of my time ossulating between wishing they would go home and being glad they were there.
So at the beginning of the book, when Penny won't leave Simon's room? I saw myself in the way Simon felt about it.
That authentic and relatable quality was what I really liked about the quiet - if not Happily Ever After - then the Attempting Normal For Now ending each character got.
Well, as normal as you can get with a story involving  mages, vampires and powerful Elton John songs.
I am a dodecahedron of geekdom, btw and the classic rock side jumped up and down clapping hands at all of the music references (and giggled when Carry On was fallowed by Wayward Son which will be followed by Anyway The Wind Blows).
And now we come to the reason I have not read the sequel even though it is sitting in a bag with the rest of this year's Powell's haul.
From what I have read, Wayward Son is, at least in part, about what happens after Happily Ever After and ends on a cliffhanger.
After Happily Ever After with a cliffhanger and no release date... Yeah, that will drive me crazy. I haven't even read the second book and I'm already thinking about the third. Aw man! Who dies? Who breaks up? Who becomes evil?
So, even though road trip stories are right up there with time travel stories as one of my favorites, even though I love the idea of showing a character battling depression, even though I love these characters, period; Wayward Son will stay unread until I run out of new books to read, or the next book's release date is close. Whichever comes first, because I want to think of the characters in their quiet ending ending for a little while.

More than anything, we hope you all have fun creating content for this small ship! Happy non-denominational winter holiday season!
Don’t forget to tag your creations with #reyuxmas or tag our blog so we can reblog your content to others!
Day 1: December 14 -- FOOD
Nice: Disastrous meal (like terrible cook Rey, everyone’s distracted so something burns), baking together, big holiday family feast, warm cocoa after a chilly day outside Naughty: Eating food off of each other, doing naughty things with food, having a few too many drinks with their dinner and one thing leads to another...
Day 2: December 15 -- SCARVES
Nice: Sharing a scarf, knitting a scarf, lost and found scarf, someone has an obnoxious scarf that the other mocks until they desperately need to wear it Naughty: A little bit of light scarf bondage, or maybe using it as a gag
Day 3: December 16 -- VACATION
Nice: Grand Marshal Hux takes a vacation from his awful SL and finds Rey in an unexpected place, escaping the cold for the winter, disappearing up north to avoid family gatherings, traveling the world to celebrate because they only have each other Naughty: Romantic nights in while traveling somewhere exotic, meeting each other on a solo holiday vacation and deciding to have some fun to make the days pass faster ;)
Day 4: December 17 -- MISTLETOE
Nice: one tries to get the other under mistletoe but keeps continuously failing, Hogwarts au rivals get stuck under charmed mistletoe, Naughty: Pretty self-explanatory, but why be basic?
Day 5: December 18 -- SNOWMAN
Nice: Are they building it, admiring one, destroying one? Or maybe they’re teaching their children to build a snow man, or one has to teach the other how to do it or make them do it for the first time, just so they can say they’ve done it. Naughty: A snowman (or snow-droid) contest gets incredibly competitive and it turns into a heated argument behind closed doors ;)
Day 6: December 19 -- TRADITIONS
Nice: Baking cookies, decorating a tree, putting up lights, matching pajamas, visiting certain people or eating certain things, gift exchanges Naughty: Buying each other naughty gifts, celebrating with lazy morning sex
Day 7: December 20 -- COZY
Nice: Someone being ridiculously obsessed with snuggies or other oddball warming items, cuddled up under blankets, sharing warmth at a train station, sipping cocoa on a sleigh ride through the snow Naughty: We’ve heard sex is a great way to warm up and often leads to cuddling
Day 8: December 21 -- FAMILY
Nice: Hux complaining about his nosy arse father. “FATHER, SHUT UP” c:, Rey really wants a family and people to build traditions with, obligatory kidfic (someone better give us Reyux kids) Naughty: making a baby for Christmas
Day 9: December 22 -- GIFTS
Nice: Unexpected gift, terrible gift giver Rey or Hux, Wrapping, shopping, giving--or are they using gifts they have…?, neither wanting to give a gift that’s too big or says they’re too committed, one or both hate the convention of gift giving and swear they will refuse any gifts but then they get something handmade and their cold heart melts Naughty: They can give themselves as a gift (with minimal to no clothing)
Day 10: December 23 -- CREATURES
Nice: Rey finds ‘stray’ cat (it’s actually Millicent, who snuck out), adopting or gifting a pet (responsibly), introducing a pet to a baby, any shenanigans with Millicent (cats destroy trees, right?) Naughty: Naga Rey or Hux c;, vampires, werewolves, magical creatures from HP or GoT or something idk go crazy and have them all fuck while you’re at it
Day 11: December 24 -- FIREPLACE
Nice: Rey is sick for the holidays and Hux keeps plenty of wood in the fireplace and also uses his body to keep her warm, Rey chopping firewood, obligatory bearskin rug by the fireplace Naughty: Sex on the rug in front of the fireplace, any romantic or sexy night in the light of the fireplace.
Day 12: December 25 -- FREE
Nice: Go wild! The unknown regions are the limits! (give us more kidfic we dare you) Naughty: Pegging with a dildo that looks like a candy cane. Any number of inappropriate holiday innuendos/scenarios. Alpha Rey/Omega Hux (will pay for this in love and adoration)

They are kind of pointed. Some would teasingly call him an elf. He’s pale skinned, and has inherited his fathers western features. ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ⋯⋯ ⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯
    whether life's disabilities
LEFT YOU OUTCAST, BULLIED, OR TEASED                                                   ﹙tell me your story ﹚              SEXUAL ORIENTATION : Bisexual.              PERSONALITY : Ezra is a rather strange boy. He really didn't have very many friends either as a child so he developed imaginary ones. Who he talked to on a daily basis like they were real. Which made the other kids either think he was insane. Or found him to be very very creepy..ish. Though as years went by he was assumed to be some kind of vampire because of his pale skin and his creepy voice. Ezra, being a bit of a prankster as well, talks like a creep on purpose. Because he believes if you can't love him the way he is. He doesn't need you. His imaginary friends are good enough. Joining the club some at first thought he wasn't suitable as the new leader. But being the bullheaded boy he is he made his name well known. Ezra is also an oddball, doing strange and random things that nobody would expect. Like climbing rooftops just to yell at the sun for being up to high, or making it to hot. He is just all around dark and funny at the same time. But deep inside lies a monstrous anger you do not want to unleash.               BIOGRAPHY : Ezra had been very sickly as a child. No, he wasn't allergic to the sun, or something like that. But he was born with osteogenesis imperfecta or brittle bone disease. If you can believe it. His mother and father were just getting their starts to in the world when he came along. They had had him at a very young age. His father and mother at the time had no money to really help their child and he spent several months pretty much in one position. Anyway, soon his father had inherited the company business of weapons manufacturing company. Soo, now that he had the money, they moved to a newer safer environment. Where Ezra's weakened bones would be less of a risk. Ezra though seemed to grow stronger, his bones seemed to get stronger. It was strange the doctors were pretty amazed. Ezra though still had to be careful, his bones still weaker than most in his school. He had grown up with most of the Host Club, if not each of the members. Though really never talked to them. Maybe a few hey's here and there. Then one day he noticed some girls going somewhere. Following them he found it. It smelled so delicious!! But it was two bright! Hissing he turned and ran tripping over a table, his foot getting hooked in the leg and sent him tumbling down cracking his arm in half as he landed, as well as his head. The next thing he knew he was waking up in the hospital a few hours later and told he had had a pretty bad accident. Ezra had wondered how much he embarrassed himself. But didn't care really. Returning to school he handed in his chem homework and decided to check on the Host Club. But when he had One of the members screamed and called him a dead man. Then pointed at the stain on the floor. Ezra glared and vowed he'd find a way to curse them! CURSE THEM!!! Which lead him to the BMC club, he found it to be quite an amazing club. I mean. magic, who could resist, huh? So Enzo did whatever he could to get to the top. Here he was, bow before your Lord and MASTER THE RAVEN! He's a bit show off sometimes, for the head of the BMC.                DID YOU KNOW? : His father is American. Who married his mother who is from one of those old Samurai families in Japan. His mother is also a famous model. Whom, some would say, he looks nothing like her. This most likely has a lot to do with his status as a mutt. ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ⋯⋯ ⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯
    rejoice and love yourself today
'CAUSE BABY YOU WERE BORN THIS WAY!!                                               ﹙what sets me apart ??﹚                EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES : BMC of course, other clubs he may pay random visits to, sometimes.                 GRADE : 1st year                 FAMILY WEALTH : His Father inherited the family company. His Mother is a famous model. His mother is Japanese, and they live in the family house. They own several Mansions as well and also have some resorts along the beaches and such.                   HOMETOWN : Okinawa, Japan                   ASPIRATIONS : Become a famous writer.

Looking for M/M roleplays
Hey!  So, you can call me Katie. I'm in my 20s and a college student from northern Europe. I've been roleplaying for about 8-9 years, and am currently looking for more roleplays since I have a bit of a shortage on partners and a lot of the RPs I have going on are a bit slow at the moment to be honest.  Anyway, let's get to it then!  What I look for in a partner: - Absolutely never write one-liners. I cannot stand them. I can usually write something between 500-1000 words, and flowery writing and describing is half the fun, really. In any case, one solid paragraph is the absolute minimum of what I expect you to be able to write (not 3-4 sentences).  - Please be over the age of 18 and preferably okay with smut (the last bit not necessarily required though). - Try to reply at least a couple times a week (and if you can't, please let me know you'll be absent for a while). Moreover, if you want to drop the RP, please don't just disappear, let me know.  - Proper grammar and all that, yeah? I mean, mistakes are fine here and there because we all make them, but I'd like to at least understand what you're trying to write. Punctuation, capitalisation, etc. are pretty important (also would appreciate it if you wrote numbers in letters, for example "with his own two hands" instead of "with his own 2 hands". I'm sure you can see which one looks nicer. Super big pet peevee for me tbh). - Be able to talk OOC at least enough to be able to figure out the plot and details of the RP. I don't much care for just jumping into an RP without planning.  - Tell me your favourite flower so I know you've actually read these. What I like:  - Fantasy - Drama - Romance - Smut - Basically anything that has the combination of those four.  - Lots of plot and plotting.  - Historical settings  - Soulmate plots  Pairings I'd like to try: - Nobility/Assassin or mercenary - Royalty/Royalty (in an arranged marriage setting) - Alpha/Omega - Human/Merfolk - Members of two rivalling gangs/packs/clans - Pirate/Nobility or royalty - Vampire/Werewolf  (Not everything I'm into by a long shot so don't be afraid to suggest something else) Stuff involving smut: - Here you will find a list of kinks that I like or hate, and will or will not do. Tell me your limits and kinks so we're on the same page.  - I like to play the submissive role. I can switch, but I prefer not to, to be honest. So unless you're okay with playing a dominant role in smut scenes, we might have to do a roleplay that either fades to black or has no smut in it at all.  Some ideas: 1.) YC is a gang member. He meets MC and they fall in love, without MC knowing of YC being anything but a normal guy with a daytime job, a fine car and a nice apartment. As their relationship develops and becomes more serious, YC has a problem in his hands with both how to tell MC what he's really involved in and his worries of MC becoming a target if their rivalling gangs find out about their relationship. (This could have a twist of Mpreg to it with MC eventually getting pregnant, if you're into that. If not, we can leave the Mpreg out of it too).  2.) MC is a hooker in Victorian era England, barely scraping by and living from hand to mouth. YC is an heir to a wealthy, powerful family. Bored and lonely, he visits MC's brothel one night and gets addicted. They grow closer with time and when the attraction goes past only physical relationship and YC's family starts pressuring him about who it is he goes to meet so often, YC disguises MC as a potential fiancé and introduces "her" to his family. Now they have to make sure no one finds out their secret, so they can be together.  3.) YC is an assassin hired to kill a nobleman, who is the father of MC. He infiltrates the estate of his target to gather information his employer has requested for him to deliver before killing the nobleman, but what he isn't counting on is meeting his soulmate (MC) while on the job. Deciding his best bet at getting close to his target is to start courting MC, problems arise when their relationship gets more serious and he starts having actual feelings for MC.  4.) In a country torn by civil war, the other side being the current royalty and the other the rebels who are dissatisfied with their rule over the kingdom, shapeshifters are being hired to fight for both sides. YC is the alpha of a pack fighting for the commoners, seeing this as an opportunity to provide safer environment for his pack should they win the war, as the royals have been hunting down and killing shifters for decades. MC is a lone omega whose pack has been killed after their usefulness to the royals ran out and he's been forced to hide and survive on his own in a world that is cruel to the weak. YC's pack ambushes a group of slave traders and rescue MC from them after he has been caught earlier; YC feels inclined to accept MC into his pack (and not only because of his inside knowledge of the royals' habits and plans for future), and MC reckons it might just be his only chance at survival. With him having lived so long on his own though, there are bound to be several hardships with his integration into the pack as he has to get used to the hierarchy and pack politics all over again. It only gets harder when, after several months of YC and MC having had a physical relationship, MC finds he is pregnant with YC's heir - problem being that YC has implied his unwillingness to have children in this age of war.  5.) In ancient Rome, YC is a gladiator who is the favourite of the people. MC is the son of a wealthy family, and while his eldest brother is the heir to his father and his other brothers are high ranked military officials, MC is the oddball of the family. Being the youngest though, not much is expected him yet, so he gets spoiled by his father and lives a comfortable life at home. He has seen YC before in spectacles in the arena, and has taken an interest in him. After MC pleading with his father, YC is bought by his family and stationed as a guard - maybe he doesn't take an immediate interest to the spoiled, privileged youngest son, or maybe there are tensions between them because YC was supposed to have the chance of winning his freedom soon enough. When they develop a secret relationship eventually, they're bound to be found out at some point. They have to decide if they'll end it, or if they will run away together.  Now, again, these are by no means the only things I'm looking for, so feel free to come to me with your own suggestions ^.^ Contact me by email; [email protected]

Meredith Fell Accepted! You know what to do, Ruby ;)
Name: ruby
Age: twenty
Timezone: gmt
State an account where we can message you: here
How active you’re going to be: around 8 for now but new job coming soon.
How did you find out about this roleplay? it’s currently taking over my life.
Why do you want to play this character? i read the vampire diaries books and i liked meredith there. then i ended up liking her show counterpart too. i think i just find the idea of a doctor in this supernatural world pretty interesting. i like the fact that she’s well-established, but still gives enough freedom to mold her just like an original character.
Anything else you would like to tell us? (Changes, suggestions…etc) shoot me a message if you’d like me to change the fc for whatever reason!
IC:
Preferred Ships: meredith/chemistry, meredith/alaric tbh.
Sample para:
RFP
Name: Meredith Fell Birthday: July 5 (30) Species: Human Lookalike: Torrey DeVito Availability: Taken
Personality
Meredith is by no means a genius. Most of the academic and professional successes in her life were due to her hardworking and persevering nature, perhaps even thanks to her slightly obsessive and beyond perfectionist tendencies. She is a calm and collected person, able to take charge and be cold-blooded in the face of critical situations. Outside of her professional environments, Meredith is a social butterfly, enjoying the company of others. Her compassion and empathetic nature have also made her quite popular with her peers. However, there are many times when she can be obtuse and high-stuck on her goals, being perfectly capable of stepping on dead bodies to accomplish something.
Past
Meredith became her parents’ greatest pride from the moment she was born. Allison and Patrick Fell were both about as proper as it could get, the perfect examples of the white picket fence suburban life, paired with the added pressure of a founding family and the curious eyes constantly on them. She was groomed for upholding this image from an early age, but she can’t say she has ever complained. Her parents loved and encouraged her, constantly telling her that she can easily access the bright future waiting ahead of her. Meredith always complied, not seeing any reason why she would want to go against her parents’ well-intended wishes. As a result, she became a straight A student from a frail age, though it was always because she worked incredibly hard, sacrificing her leisure time and social life in the process.
When she was nine years old, a new member came into the life of the Fell family. Due to the age gap, Meredith was never truly able to establish a particularly strong connection with her sister, Charlie. By the time the girl was old enough to understand certain things and hold conversations, Meredith was constantly busy with her relentless attempts at getting into the best high school spots. Despite that, Meredith has always cared for Charlie and often found herself wishing she would’ve had more time to spend with her and get to know her beyond a surface level.
Meredith decided at an early age that she wanted to be a doctor, a wish that fortunately aligned with her parents’ vision for her future. She left Mystic Falls for a few years to pursue her medical training at a prestigious university. There, she had a few on and off relationships that all failed miserably due to Meredith’s near obsessive relationship with her studies. Even though this didn’t necessarily bother her, she did realize that she missed her family and would rather not spend the rest of her life coming back to an empty home.
Eventually, Meredith became a resident medic at Mystic Falls’ hospital, returning home to a difficult time in Charlie’s life. It was at that time when she truly started to feel the disconnection between her sister and herself and she was made aware of the toxic balance of personal life and work life. Gradually, she started to go easier on herself, spending more time trying to get to know and help her sister and building a social life for herself.
Around the time she was in her mid twenties, Meredith started dating a local young man named Andrew Belley, who got attacked by a vampire in the town’s woods. Despite her best attempts, he died, which left Meredith deeply heartbroken and left her to turn toward alcohol as a coping mechanism. Luckily, she was caught by a coworker friend, who kept her from falling down a dangerous spiral before it even started. Despite that, Meredith has made some sort of tradition out of drinking under her desk every time a patient she’s particularly invested in dies.
After losing Andrew, Meredith could not understand what she did wrong. She researched relentlessly and this is what led her to discovering the existence of the supernatural world. Her cynical nature made her very skeptical, but the more she started to pay attention to the cases venturing through the hospital, the more strange it became. Eventually, Meredith learned about the healing properties of vampire blood, which resulted in her getting involved in a secret trade with local vampires that would exchange their blood for human bloodbags at the hospital.
Under these circumstances, she met Alaric Saltzman and the two of them dated briefly while Meredith was hurled into the supernatural chaos of Mystic Falls. She tried to save Elena’s life after the dive off Wickery Bridge by giving her vampire blood, thus facilitating her transformation. After Alaric died, Meredith felt like she was done with Mystic Falls, so she returned to the city of her college years. There, she became a successful surgeon who continued her supernatural healing methods with the vampire population there. She got into another relationship with a man named David Lindsday and even got engaged. It all fell apart when Meredith was approached at the hospital by some vampires who wanted blood directly from human patients and she refused, which ended up in David getting killed as leverage.
Present
Frightened and alone, Meredith chose to return, once again, to Mystic Falls. David’s loss shook her up, but it especially made her realize the dangers of her trades. She is back in her hometown, uncertain of whether she should continue with her methods. On one hand, she does not want anyone else to become collateral damage in this dangerous lifestyle. On another hand, she may secretly hope that Mystic Falls is truly an oddball, enough to make it the only place where she can continue saving lives through the blood trade healing method.
Connections
Charlotte Fell
Even though Meredith and her half-sister haven’t been that close in their childhood, they have grown closer over the years and, now, Meredith prioritizes truly being there for her.
Alaric Saltzman
Last Meredith knew of Alaric, he was dead.
Elena Gilbert and Jeremy Gilbert
Meredith got close to Elena and Jeremy as a result of her relationship with Alaric.
