Aloe marlothii
Aloe marlothii is a relatively common species in the northeastern part of South Africa, as well as in neighboring Eswatini and southern Mozambique. Its flowers are normally in the yellow-to-orange range, and our plant leans toward orange. The racemes of flowers in A. marlothii extend outward at an oblique angle (sometimes almost completely horizontally), unlike the upright racemes seen in the related Aloe ferox. It is interesting to note that the angle of the floral branches on the same plant can vary from year to year.

Aloe marlothii
Aloe marlothii is a very popular species in South African gardens, as well as in other countries. It is easy to see why, with its large dramatic rosettes of prickly leaves and its showy flowers. It is related to Aloe ferox, which comes from farther south, but is easily distinguished by the angle of its floral branches; these are erect in A. ferox. The flowers of Aloe marlothii are typically yellow or orange, whereas those of A. ferox are mostly in the red-to-orange range. From South Africa’s northeast.
