Stargazing — Intro

Author Notes: this is the first installment for Suna's part on throne!au. I'm struggling to post stuff because of the tags, so yeah. Please enjoy your reading
Warnings: mentions of shots and guns, kids being stalked, language and cigar smoking.

The air felt burning inside of his lungs and the pain was stinging his calves. The two boys running ahead weren't any different and he knew he had to make a decision before the approaching footsteps got even more closer.
Suna Rintaro was only sixteen. Even if it was duty, he didn't feel ready to sacrifice himself for the sake of the pair before him.
After all, he was too young for this yakuza shit.
Analyzing his surroundings, he tried to come up with a route to escape. The brunette could see alleys and recesses left and right, but none of them seemed safe enough to be a hideout.
"We're screwed." He heard Osamu cursing under his breath. The less annoying twin wasn't wrong, but it was a surprise to see him so distressed.
"We gotta do somethin' to save our asses." Atsumu whisper-yelled, trying to come up with a plan. His seriousness was short lived when a shot cut the air somewhere behind them "Fuck!" The blonde shrieked.
The brunette sighed. A decision was made.
"Yo, you two." The calling came in a low tone, gathering their attention "Listen up. You two are hiding inside the next alley we see by our left, I'll slow down and make them follow me. Then you'll run away as fast as you can, when we're out of your sight." Suna explained, knowing the half-assed plan was the only alternative. Even panting, his voice sounded unwavering and he felt proud of it.
He knew the kobun would be proud of it.
"Absolutely not!" Osamu's voice thundered as the two Miya halted their steps "What kinda leaders ya think we gonna be? D'ya expect us to leave ya here to die?" The younger twin grabbed a handful of Suna's shirt, shaking the taller male.
"Nope, but you can't be the head of shit if you two start a worm farm six feet under." He deadpanned, freeing himself from the other's grip.
"Well damn, it's an order then. Yer not leavin' us." Atsumu butted in, trying to rush them.
Another shot echoed, the three of them flinching at the loud sound. At this point, none of the boys had hopes of running away from the men after them.
A giggle startled the three.
"Hah, rich kids are so cute!" Turning to the voice, they saw a girl with crooked teeth and ripped jeans. Suna frowned, taking a step forward.
"Who are you?" He asked, trying to sound menacing.
"Me?" The weird girl giggled again "I'm the one saving your asses."
Looking around the place, he didn't know why he remembered that scene just now.
Maybe you have the talent to drag people to this mess, the man thought to himself.
Through the glassdoor, staring at the far corner of the ballroom, he observed a woman sitting lonely and miserable. Today was supposed to be her great day, but thanks to him, it wasn't the case.
The male didn't even know why he felt this way.
"Why are you here, looking all sad when a fancy-ass party is going on inside?" The giggle in mockery remained the same years after they met.
The woman before him grew up to a beauty and got rid of the damned crooked teeth — though it didn't change the shit-eating grin permanently etched to your face.
Beautiful or not, you were still a pain in the ass.
"Are you sad because the woman you love is now married to the enemy?" The man sighed in annoyance.
"Your talent to talk shit all the time is fascinating, you know." The brunette brushed you off, taking his attention back to the other woman "And I could ask you the same, why are you here, bugging me of all people?"
You scowled.
"Don't get so full of yourself, I came to watch the sky." He observed as you opened your shoulder bag, reaching for the pack of cigarettes. You tucked one of the sticks between your lips, before lightening it. He laughed at the solemn gaze you held into the skyline.
"You and this weird habit of yours. What star are you trying to see in the middle of fucking Tokyo?" Like always, the brunette asked not really expecting an answer from you.
Smoke went past your mouth as you closed your eyes.
"Ueno was a hellhole, but at the least the sky was beautiful." You started "Every single night, I miss it. Not that shitty neighbourhood, but climbing the roofs and stargazing the night away." There was a longing within your irises that he never saw before. Strange.
"Why are you saying this, all of sudden?" The man asked, truly dumbfounded. You weren't behaving like yourself.
"I don't know, Rintaro. But my guts say something is gonna happen." You smothered the cigarette butt against the rail "And I'm afraid of not seeing stars for one last time." Feeling unsettled, Suna frowned, following your gaze to the Tokyo lights.
He believed you. After all, your instincts were never wrong.

i finished the fic and i extremely enjoyed the ending.. it was so bittersweet like a coming to age story and honestly... i feel reader and atsumu were better off as friends, especially after all the misunderstandings and miscommunications... overall the story is beautiful and very realistic something you don't really see in fanfics

of all my fics, this felt like the most personal because it had my experiences and thoughts as a middle child growing up. plus, i got to play with the idea of “what if i had childhood friends like the miya twins?” ‘cept i wont be as cold and be more jaded compared to reader.

hi! im really curious about this and has been on my mind for quite some time but let’s say... WHAT EAAAAF! what if....... !!! okay, just a what if 😣 suna was given a push (someone more stubborn than him OR there was just an encounter that made him... go for it) and actually pursue reader during their high school days, how do you think that would come to be and also, how would their dynamic change then!? (because it’s not like.... reader isn’t open back then. in the kageyama route, she even was with him during their hs days period !!!!!!!) so i was just thinking how it would differ from oli ! again this is just all hypothetical and got me all curious huhu (as in let’s say they work out, we don’t care abt atsumu and i just know kita would b supportive that’s ong!!!!)
to be honest, it would not end well.
the only reason kageyama had a chance was because he had hinata, and he was a good wingman. reader was taken completely by surprise by the duo, more so by kageyama.
suna, on the other hand? oof.
more than anything, she would reject him in the nicest way possible. but that would STILL crush suna so bad. and if it affected his play, then reader would probably have to force herself to leave because she doesn't want to ruin volleyball for him. that, or suna would just be another atsumu. idk either would be a possibility.
for better or for worse, atsumu would take note of this and would approach reader to talk about it. it'll worsen the team dynamic entirely.
so no, suna would NOT pursue reader in high school.
plus, it would be (at least in my fic) out of character for him to want to engage with her romantically considering the fragile state she's in. that's kind of manipulative and she doesn't need that, having a deep trauma from her emotionally manipulative father already.

well, i wouldn't say exactly that he's always known but more of an inkling.
still, he never acted upon it because he knew that suna's intentions for his best friend was pure, that he was doing all this because he knew how vulnerable she was at that time and badly needed a friend.
still, when he found out that they started dating, he became supportive of suna after bff!reader told her how she treated him. and honestly? that's all he ever wanted.
and before y'all say: "BUT HE'S ATSUMU'S BROTHER!?"
people, he KNOWS he's atsumu's brother, which is why he would rather that his best friend NOT end up with him.
but in the end, it was his best friend's choice and he'll support her either way.
had reader chosen other guys - aka, the routes, then osamu would still give his support. again: at the end of the day, the important thing is his best friend's happiness.

well, think of it this way: he thought he didn't have a chance with her EVER. and so, if he wants to start anew, he has to let go of certain things if he wants to move forward. "we don't things like memories" is inarizaki's motto after all.
you best believe that he spent A WHOLE night going through those photos and videos of her, lying in bed, face illuminated by his phone, a soft smile on his face with her face and voice on screen.
the very last photo he has of her was during graduation, right before the ceremony. she had a volleyball in hand, from one of the juniors, and looked up at the cherry blossom trees surrounding the school.
he swore she was heaven sent with that photo alone.
shakily exhaling, having reached his last photo, he clicks the home screen and clicks the 'erase all data' option. he cries when the process was done.
honestly, you can't blame rin.
i mean, i'd like to think that some guys react this way.

it's been years (like, two?) since i finished ulma and i have some fics in the works, but i fear i'll never have that spark i once had when writing those. actually, before ulma i had this other fic titled 'complications of the heart' which is an oikawa fic, except it's with an OC of mine. writing those two fics really mean a lot to me, because they were written with personal experiences from myself and the people around me. and with my upcoming fics, i feel i'll never have the same feeling again :<
regardless, i'm so happy that my fic continues to live on and make a great many cry :D

i wish that i could re-live the moment i read (un)loving miya atsumu 😣 the chokehold that series had on me.... it’s so sickening i wish i could forget it just so i could revisit the raw emotions that came with reading it the first time !!
that means a lot to me, it really does.
that was a high time for me, really, because at the time - it really felt like i was writing. like, i actually wrote something that kept me sane and made me feel like i could vent out years of just being that one sibling no one cared about.
but also, it was also the first time i felt like an accomplished writer. lol that's so stupid, but that's what it was like for me :">

lol funny you should say nagi reminds you of suna because they have THE SAME voice actor - nobunaga shimazaki. also, known as 'zakki' to his fans. i am blessed with weeb ears, so i can tell a certain voice actor a mile away.
funny thing, my friend actually read blue lock and has indirectly told me, via her posts on fb, on how amazing the series was.
and truth me told, i did not care for anyone.
that is until...
it was love at first sight, i tell you.
i mean, i just have it so bad for cold characters now who are a bit problematic (don't look at me)
plus, i'm now a fan of his eng va - alejandro saab. sadly, i used to think highly of his jp va, that is until he turned out to be a piece of shit.
but yeah, i like sae.
i could say i like rin, too. but that's mostly because his jp va is ucchi - kouki uchiyama. i wanna say i wasn't surprised when i found out he was voicing him, but it felt so fitting hahahaha
oh wait, an easy favorite of mine, too is...
i love chaotic characters like him. plus, his voice is suuuuper fitting to his easygoing, demonic, chaotic energy.
i have a soft spot for kunigami, because he (laughingly) looks like ichigo with a bit of bakugou. plus, he has ichigo's big brother energy.
AAAAAAAND, i have a special place in my heart for the king of egoists - isagi yoichi. despite having the typical, standard design, i adore his development and growth throughout the show. i also adore his gap moe in field vs off field.
