Hello! I was just thinking about the statement in which a guy grows out of someone's arm in season 5 and how I've never seen anyone make a single post about it. It's bizarre to me. I was spoiled for a lot of season 5 but this episode blindsided me so much I had to read the transcript. And yet I hear NO one talking about it. People must have been right when it came out, but I'm so curious if you've had this experience too. It's like the mystery episode. And it's not like it was really bad even...

oh yeah that one! I don't think there was much talk about that statement at the time it released either, everyone was too busy freaking out about martin absconding with annabelle. I think I remember some memes about the fearpocalypse dating site? also people trying to figure out what jon's comment about the eye not being subtle meant because it really didn't seem that obvious what that statement actually had to do with jon's present predicament.

it's definitely a weird one, but it's got some interesting stuff. both episodes that season that have a surprise annabelle turning up at the end have a statement about an abusive parental figure still reaching out to control their child from beyond the grave, with a lot of clear parallels to martin's life. it also delves into a similar aspect of beholding as is shown in mag 188, and I don't think it's an angle that got a lot of play in the series before: it's not just the fear of being literally watched, but of your innermost self being known and judged harshly. malcolm's fears don't manifest in everyone at A&E turning to watch him as he sits there, but in the worry that he'll show them this awful and sensitive problem he's having and they'll call him a sick freak and laugh him out of the building.

1/2 Hello! I was wondering if being hard of hearing causes you to have trouble in conversations with more than two people. I am prone to interrupting and have trouble finding the pauses in conversations, since it always seems like when there is a pause in a conversation, someone talks again right when I do. I was wondering if there are any tips you may have about that sort of thing. I'm not even sure it's to do with being hard of hearing, but given that it doesn't exactly help me hold

2/2 conversations, I thought it could be part of the issue. I suppose the questions are: does being hard of hearing make you more prone to interrupting in conversations, and if so, do you have any tips for that? (I'm hard of hearing, if that wasn't obvious.)

2/2 (not sure if the second part sent) I thought since being hard of hearing doesn't exactly make conversations easier, it might be the cause of this specific issue I have. So I wanted to know if you had any tips to help figure out when to talk to not interrupt. I don't even know if you will, so it's fine if you don't.

being hard of hearing does make it more difficult to talk to more than two people, but its usually not connected to interruptions as much, more so to following the thread of conversation itself.

It does happen to me occasionally that I accidentaly speak over someone who is talking because they spoke up too quietly or I didn’t notice. However, if you don’t have other symptoms of hearing loss, I don’t think this is caused by being hard of hearing.

Do you struggle listening to radio/tv? Do you have trouble understanding in louder enviroments? Do people tell you you speak too loud?

If yes, you should get checked out by a doctor. Doctor can assist you with acquiring hearing aid, which can make it easier to understand people. 

But if you said no to these, I think its more likely your troubles are caused by something else. Trouble following conversation and interruptions in this manner can signify neurodivergence.

No matter the cause, you can ask people to speak one at the time, to use signals when someone else wants to speak (raising a hand, etc).

Therapy can also be helpful with this, if you don’t attend already.

I tend to rock a lot since if I don't, I feel like I'm floating. (This is more due to vestibular issues than Asperger's, but it's still a stim.) It's to the point where it happens subconsciously and I have to focus to not stim, but the thing is it apparently makes people dizzy/anxious to look at me when they're talking. I'm torn between "I can't focus on not stimming and having a conversation at once" and "I don't want to make people dizzy". Do you have any advice?

I think your best bet is (if you feel comfortable enough) disclosing that you have vestibular issues or autism and the rocking helps you. If they already know, then I would say to keep dong it if it’s good for your mental health and you think you would really struggle if you couldn’t rock. Or, if you really don’t feel comfortable rocking, try and find another stim that can work as a replacement that maybe doesn’t involve as much movement.  Thank you for your question ^^
