Danny, Jazz, and their parents all go to Gotham for some reason, most likely something sciencey or related to Jazz and college, IDC.
(Danny has only been in Gotham for a single afternoon and he’s already had 4 people attempt to mug him, almost been run over, and walked through what he’s pretty sure was a gang fight. But the weirdest thing that had to have happened to him so far has been the multiple random people keep giving him weird looks and asking if he’s okay way to often for Gotham don’t-trust-people City. It must be his Fenton luck.)
After all the randomness Gotham throws at Danny he like most teenagers exhausted and hungry late at night goes to get fast food. He walks into Batburger (it’s a Gotham staple he wants to know how it compares to the Nasty Burger) and the cashier stares at Danny as he orders like 12 peoples worth of food for him and Jazz.
The cashier, a literal midnight shift customer service worker asks Danny if he’s okay. Danny even more annoyed about people asking that just let’s out an exaggerated sigh and says something about being “just tired and hungry.” The cashier, who is not paid enough for this drops it, rings Danny up, and gives him an order number.
Danny’s order takes a while so he just leans on a wall and surfs the web, maybe messages Jazz or Sam and Tucker. Just vibes, leaning on the Batburger wall.
Eventually some of the bats shows up mid patrol to get something to eat and all pause in the doorway. Causing Danny to look up from his phone and see all of them looking right at him. Danny an annoyed teenager just asks them what they’re looking at.
One of them breaking out of the awkwardness asks Danny if he’s okay. Danny who’s been asked that 15+ times in the last 45 minutes just yells “Why do people keep asking me that?!?”
One of the bats responds with something like “… because you have a knife in your stomach.”
Danny looks down and sees that yes he does have a knife in him and just didn’t notice it. His only response is something along the lines of “Oh, I liked this hoodie.”
The bats are thinking this kids in shock or something and Danny’s just thinking that now he has a free knife because he’ll be healed in a day or so at most.
Danny’s order number gets called, he gets his food, and he just walks away ghosting the concerned bats.

How to Clean a Mattress in 9 Simple Steps
A mattress is a serious investment, so you want to make sure it lasts—and that means learning how to clean a mattress. Mattresses can harbor dust mites, dead skin, dirt, and other debris, which means they need to be cleaned regularly—particularly if you suffer from allergies, have pets, or are just an avid midnight snacker.
The good news is that cleaning a mattress is far easier than you might think. Read on to discover the nine simple steps that will help you keep your mattress clean and ready for years of snoozing. Thanks to expert insights from Ed Curry, president of mattress company Duxiana, and Neil Parikh, cofounder of Casper, here are some pro tips for taking good care of your mattress so you can sleep easy.
1. Gather your mattress cleaning supplies
To deep clean a mattress, you'll need certain materials on hand. Gather up:
a vacuum with an upholstery attachment
an enzyme cleaner or dish soap to get stains out
laundry detergent
baking soda
cleaning cloths
cold water
2. Strip the bed and wash all the bedding
Remove sheets, pillowcases, and mattress covers and let them take a spin in the washing machine while you work on cleaning the mattress. Washing all the bedding in hot water will help get rid of any dust mites. Depending on the type of pillows you have, you may be able to wash them as well. (Double-check the care label.)
3. Vacuum the mattress
Grab your vacuum cleaner's upholstery attachment and go over the entire surface of the mattress, including the sides. Pay special attention to seams and break out the crevice attachment to get any hidden dirt or dust.
Now it’s time to focus on getting stains out of the mattress, and that means spot-cleaning. Never soak your mattress or apply water or cleaning solution directly to it. Memory foam, for example, isn't supposed to get wet at all. For that reason, it's important to proceed with caution and operate on the principle that less is more.
So, spot-cleaning with a stain remover it is. The stain remover you choose will depend on the type of stain and the type of mattress. For biological stains, reach for an enzyme cleaner. Spray the cleaner onto a clean white cloth, and then blot the stained area with the cloth. After that, you can apply cold water to a different clean cloth and continue blotting until the stain lifts. The goal here is to use as little product and moisture as possible. This method is ideal for blood, sweat, vomit, urine, and other related stains.
As an alternative to an enzyme-based cleaner, you can make your own DIY solution by mixing dish soap with water and applying just the resulting foam to the stain. You can also make a DIY solution of equal parts cold water and hydrogen peroxide.
5. Sprinkle baking soda all over the entire mattress
If you can't put your mattress out in the sun and fresh air, baking soda is the next best thing. Sprinkle a layer over the entire top of the mattress and leave for several hours (or better yet, apply before an overnight trip). Baking soda will break down acid and absorb any remaining moisture or odor. The longer you can leave baking soda on the mattress, the better it will work! As the mattress sits with the baking soda, open any windows in the room to let the light and sunshine in. The sun's UV rays will actually help kill any mold or bacteria on the mattress.
6. Vacuum again
Once the baking soda has worked its magic, thoroughly vacuum it up. (If you have a fabric headboard, now's a good time to vacuum that, as well! Might as well get a fresh start with everything bed-related.)
7. Flip the mattress
Now that side one is spotless, flip the mattress and repeat steps 1-5 so both sides are equally fresh and clean. Flipping, of course, should be done at regular intervals, whether you're deep cleaning the mattress or not. The conventional wisdom has been that people should flip their mattress every three months, but that rule of thumb only applies to spring mattresses because they compress over time. As mattresses get more specialized, your best bet is to check with the model manufacturer. (The foam Casper mattress, for instance, only needs to be rotated 180 degrees every few months, while only the top pad of Duxiana’s Dux mattress needs to be flipped and turned.)
8. Protect the mattress
Now that you know how to clean a mattress, it's time to protect it. Once it's fully dry, cover your fresh mattress with a mattress protector, which will make cleaning easier in the future and protect from spills, dirt, and other unpleasantries (i.e. bed bugs).
9. Keep out dust with a fitted sheet
“Using fitted sheets that are regularly washed, and keeping the area around the mattress clean, should protect it from any dust,” says Neil. That said, wrapping mattresses and box springs in mattress encasements ensures that dust mites don’t take up residence, says Ed—an especially good idea for those who suffer from allergies or asthma.
Cleaning a mattress will no doubt extend its life and make it a treat to sleep on, but all good things must come to an end. After eight years or so, consider investing in a new mattress. Body impressions and sagging indicate that it’s no longer providing adequate support, says Ed. “It’s also important to listen to your body,” says Neil. “Waking up in pain or sleeping poorly every night are signs that it’s time to move on.”

Nobody was ever entirely on your side. There was always an ulterior motive for everything.  If you wanted something you had to hide your true desires with something else if you had any hope of attaining them. That was the first lesson Shere Khan had ever learned as a kit, and sadly, it had been one hard in the learning. Even among those sharing a common ideal and motivation, no one took interest and solved the idea in the same way. He’d been born to a household servant of a British army officer’s wife. The birth of a boy, at first deemed a source for celebration, had become bittersweet once his mother had realized he’d been born with a limp paw. She had named him Lingre, or lame one, so all would know. Some whispered that he was lame because he was the reincarnation of  a money-lender who was injured in a riot. Most, thought it was ridiculous, but it hadn’t stopped others from keeping an extra eye out on him, just in case.  He hadn’t been around to see the revolt of ‘57 but the elders he had known, servants to the British elite, warriors who served under his master on the field, Christian converts deemed traitors by nearly all, had been alive during that time, and like all events that occurred during living memory of aging men and women the story in multiple renditions had been related to him more times he could count, each with a different opinion and idea of what had happened. Even today the rebellion was contentious and certainly wasn’t something brought up  in polite company during the holidays if one wished to keep the conversation civil.  So, he’d grown up mostly alone, with only one other child for company. A paw-licker by the name of Tabaqui, Lungri learned anything and everything of note within the household... whether he liked it or not. The association hadn’t been born out of a genuine interest in friendship. Instead, his only companion had been a scavenger who had stuck around for potential catches. In a rare show  of mercy, empathy, or some conglomeration of both, the mistress of the house had taken mercy on him and had assigned him the tasks of hunting and laying traps for pests and other, more dangerous creatures that went bump in the night. This made him very interesting to the lowest ranking member of the household who also happened to be the village gossip. After several attempts to be rid of his obnoxiously talkative shadow, the young tiger had been forced to make due with his continual presence. Eventually he had come to almost enjoy their time together, but at the time he wouldn’t have repeated such a thing under penalty of death. The paw-licker would have only taken this as an encouragement to talk even more, and then Lugri would have had to kill him. Some evenings fate smiled on him and he would catch himself a small bounty from the Raj in the hides of animals he would present to them. Other times his captures would be made into a meal for himself and the leftovers would go to the canine. Sometimes, when the animals appeared too filthy or diseased for him, he’d leave the entire thing to him. He sighed at the memory, and examined the wound before him. The skin was broken and the feathers were stained with the elderly duck’s blood. It wasn’t much, but it was enough for concern. He and Tabbaqui had been foolish. They hadn’t known the risks involved in capturing dangerous animals, in simply being scratched by one if saliva was in any way involved. But this wasn’t something they’d been taught, not something people had thought they’d needed to know, and as a result they’d been a lot less careful approaching  and if they had they would have been more careful. The image of Tabaqui curled up in a tiny ball clutching his head and screaming, crying, howling his broken cries of agony for all the pitiless world to hear. Hydrophobia, they'd said. Don’t move any closer, idiot child, they’d reprimanded. So he’d stood, watched as the only soul to give him a shred of respect wail . Until Gray had put him out of his misery, and Tabaqui, his brightness, his presence itself had gone. The windows open and the house grim and unoccupied where once there’d been a lively party with a free alcohol bar. That had been one of the worst moments of his life. The second. The second, the years following the first world war and the horror of realizing just how small, just how easy the powers that be could have you dead, well that was a thought for another place and another time. Thoughts of his childhood didn’t belong either, but that was a problem when the man sitting before him, seemed more child than an adult, clutching the artifact in a clear pout and grumbling about tigers that apparently worried more obsessively after his health than his own Valet. Scrooge McDuck. Said tiger had been tempted to roll his eyes but ultimately resisted, finding the action lacked the seriousness the situation deserved. Instead, he opted to retrieve a small box where he kept the minor first aid supplies, and pulling out some medical-grade disinfectant. It was scientifically impossible for an avian to contract rabies from a mammal, so all that was left was treating the scratches. He was thankful for that. The thought of McDuck foaming at the mouth and begging for death as the symptoms wrought havoc on his tiny fluffy little body, made him feel... something... and that was enough. The world would be deprived of one of the greats, and he’d rather not have been the one to finance the daring duck adventurer’s final expedition. Retrieving an artifact from thieves who had stolen a priceless Indian antique was a worthy use of his money, but if he had to choose someone to come down with hydrophobia, now known as Rabies, he’d have sent someone less... interesting... to take his place. Sliding his paws against Scrooge’s back, years of self-medication came back to him for a moment and he assessed the injury, which was still bleeding profusely. He retrieved a pair of tweezers and began. It was unsurprising to find the duck hadn’t done much by way of self-care. In all likelihood he’d run it over cold waters and considered the matter finished. Sighing openly this time. he went about removing the dirt, first washing the cuts thoroughly, then picking stubborn pieces of dirt out with  before taking out the scissors. Unsurprisingly, he found his wrist clenched in a vice-like grip. Scrooge was quite strong, his fluffy feathers belied a hard interior. “Now what are ye thinkin about doin with those, I wonder?” Scrooge asked though his soft voice  had an obvious underbelly of steel. “I was attempting to cut the feathers near the site of your injury.” Shere Khan said, explaining with as much patience as he could muster. “This will make it easier to soak the area with Hydrogen peroxide.” Scrooge smiled at him, one of those terribly forced grins that clearly indicated he was trying to be polite and not throttle the person next to him. “I’ll have to pass.” The Tiger and the duck shared a ten-second staring contest, before the cat rose an inquiring eyebrow, frowning. “Why?” The question was short, blunt, and demanded no tomfoolery. Scrooge sighed, then, with an embarrassed cough. “Becausefweatherdamagetakestwelvemonthstoregrow.” Shere Khan looked amused now. "I’m afraid I did not quite get that.” He said with a chuckle.. “What was it you said?” Scrooge sighed, then scratched the back of his head. “The average bird takes approximately 12 months to regrow his or her feathers.” The duck said. “Blame it on me vanity, but I’d rather take a pass on the whole lot.” The two looked at each other for a long moment, before Khan lowered the scissors. Scrooge made a move to get up before Shere Khan halted him with a paw. "A moment please.” He asked when Scrooge began to look like he wanted to argue. “I know of another way to clean it, if you will allow me to be so bold?” He had retried gauze from the . “Fine.” Scrooge huffed, annoyed at the delay. “Get on with it.” The tiger nodded, murmuring a quiet thank you, before Scrooge froze, feeling something warm and wet lapping at his wound. He stared up at Shere Khan, who stared right back, lips stained with blood and yellow eyes gleaming with an unspoken challenge. “So that’s how it is.” Scrooge said softly, then to the tiger’s surprise, he was the first to break off their second stare down, this time dissolving into laughter.”You really needn’t have gone through all the trouble.”  Scrooge said, grinning behind him, his smile softer than before, as the tiger continued to lap at his shoulder. “I’m afraid you’ve lost me dear fellow.” Khan said staring at rubbing at Scrooge’s back and ruffling his clothing as he continued his ministrations, feeling Scrooge loosen beneath him and wondering if it was too late to distract Scrooge from taking their conversation wherever direction it was apparently approaching. He noticed that Scrooge still carried the artifact. “I mean the playdate, you’ve so cleverly arranged.” He started grinning like the Cheshire cat. Khan didn’t stop lapping at the duck’s shoulder, but moved the other arm to support his weight against the table, allowing his silence to speak for itself. He felt Scrooge prod his forehead, and he pursed his lips. “If you ever find yourself wantin to chat me up.” Scrooge began. “Ask me out of the stables first.” Shere khan allowed a smile to touch his features before removing a roll of gauze from the kit, staring at it as if it were a long lost friend. “so if I invited you to a round of dinner, adventure and dancing, you would not feel opposed to the idea?” The old duck gave him an appraising look, as if sizing him up against some invisible measuring stick only he was aware of. Whatever he saw was clearly to his liking because the smile returned, this time far gentler. “Aye,” he said softly. “I’m willing to give this a spin and see how this works.” Shere Khan pressed a kiss to the wounded shoulder, before finally wrapping it with gauze. He hoped his mask was in place enough to conceal his thoughts. It was true, while he had very little experience in wooing a mate, he wanted this. He wanted them. Scrooge, beyond even his impressive financial portfolio was a fascinating man, and one who he wished to see more of. But most of all, that ulterior motive he needed to convince himself that this idea merited the energy he would put into it, was the combination of their assets. While both companies were powerful on their own, what they had currently would be nothing compared to what they would be if they united as one. He hoped this plan would work, he was not a man built for rivalry, and if things continued as they were, he knew he’d be required to find a solution he thought better left avoided.

It was an accident, I swear! Pg 6
Original comic:  patton-sanders-killed-a-man.tumblr.com/post/618278832333520896/one-shower-and-change-of-clothes-later
"Patton, calm down, don't act suspicious. Just try to be real confident and stuff, no one will question you. Also, just curious, who was it?"
It was always that question, wasn't it? 'Patton, who was it? What was he doing? You probably had a good reason, but who was it?' Didn't they watch me do it?
"A good way to get people to leave you alone is to walk briskly and purposefully, and looking anxious doesn't hurt. Running catches attention, but if you look like you forgot something or are trying to reach somewhere quickly -which you are- people will usually figure you're busy with something and let you be"
That sounded reasonable
"Good idea, Pat! Try not to look suspicious though- you don't want to draw more attention to yourself."
Great now the don't be suspicious meme is running through my head. That sure helps settle my nerves. I heard a familiar voice that I hopes was just in my head, but sadly, wasn't say "Oh Patty boy!"
I muttered "Oh no" and turned around. It was my neighbor, Ms. Green.
She smiled at me "Patton, dear, it's been awhile since I've seen you, how are you? Also, can you help me carry my groceries to my apartment? My knees are getting creaky."
Act natural... Act natural... Act natural "I, um, would love to and I swear I'll help you another time, but you see I hmm..." I paused trying to frantically think of an excuse, "I'm sorry Ms. Green but I got, uh, an important business meeting, I'll see you later."
I turned around and started to walk away as she said "Um, alright" I felt bad for lying to her, but it was better than her knowing what I did.
---------
Ms. Green looked at her hands and had a realization "Wait a minute, didn't the kid get laid off just two weeks ago?" she muttered as she watched Patton walk away.
---------
It took me about ten minutes to get home and as soon as I did, I  flopped down onto the couch and screamed into it, which kind of felt good to release.
"Just trying to help you out here pal, always good to have more people try to solve a problem, ain't it? Or is there anyone, ya know, real, you could ask for help in this situation?"
I lifted my head and whispered "Unfortunately the only people I'm friendly with are are, well, HIM and Ms. Green and one's dead in the alleyway and I really don't think Ms. Green would help me hide from the police... Virgil would have," I thought of my dark haired, emo friend, at least, he was my friend... "Ugh, I can't believe you're actually considering it, what are you even going to say? 'Oh hey, Virgil! I know we haven't talked in like three years but can you help me hide away from the police? Why? Oh, I just killed our former band mate' I bet that would go over so well, there's no way he would hate you more than he probably already does. HE was right, I am a horrible person" I face palmed at myself. I felt hopeless.
"Hey Patton? Why ARE you so afraid? I mean, if it was an accident as you said, you probably won't be punished that harshly. (It might be a different story now that you've hidden the evidence, though)"
Great the questions are back
"Mind if we get at least SOME kind of explanation Pat? We're on your side here!"
"Why don't you wanna talk? We can help you! You just need to let us know what's going on."
"Why are you afraid to tell us who this is? And why did you do it? Why did you stab this person so many times? Are you feeling alright?"
"Why are you scared to tell us? It's not like the cops will know what we say is true when they could just think they're going crazy and you can chat while you get your stuff. It's empty anyway, you're safe to talk, not too loud is all"
I sat there for a moment with my hand still on my forehead and then got up, I couldn't help but to smirk a bit "Okay, sorry, but I can't answer your questions at the moment, I uh, got to shower! I would really appreciate it if you guys don't follow me"
A few minutes later I was in the shower, the warm water felt good and was kind of relaxing when out of the blue a voice asked "So... Did you keep the teeth?" I jumped for a sec, glaring at nothing and pulled the shower curtain closed tighter.
After I showered, I picked up my bloody clothes and tried to figure out what to do with them when a helpful voice chimed in "Hi Pat! If you need to take blood out of your clothing, use hydrogen peroxide. Just small amounts can get rid of blood, and all you need to do is put it on the area, watch as the blood disappears, and rinse with cold water. Do this with the murder weapon too. Use gloves when you do, okay?" That one sounded oddly like a macabre advertisement.
"FYI, hydrogen peroxide gets out blood"
"Ya know, Pat, you should probably dispose of the body and other evidence. I'd recommend burning it. PS: Use cold water and soap to get blood out of clothes" [Quick little AN, don't burn a body to hide evidence, it smells, smokes, and is not high enough heat to cremate the body, all you're doing is creating a mess and a more disfigured body and idk why I know this]
"Can you somehow get your hands on some hydrogen peroxide? That should get the blood out of your hoodie. Or lemon juice, I've heard that works too!"
"Color me intrigued. Patton, about your clothes: pour hydrogen peroxide directly onto the stain (not to much, seriously use a cotton ball) and after the stain looks removed, rinse with cold water (repeat as needed). Also maybe do something that calms you down, like baking. That'll also help with the smell. Stay calm, take deep breaths. Drink a cup of water. We're here for you" Come to think of it, I hadn't even noticed the smell until now, I guess I was too worked up.
"Oh! And Darling, I forgot to mention, wash those clothes in cold water! Hot water just sets the stains. And you may want to do it by hand, just to be sure you get any stubborn spots. Blood doesn't stick to bathtubs, so that's likely the best place to clean up" How do you voices keep coming up with so many nicknames for me? I don't think I've had so many in my life, ever.
"I guess I can't avoid you guys-" I said, ignoring the advice for a moment, "Oh, nevermind, that's surprisingly useful, sadly, I don't think I have any hydrogen peroxide stuff, but I was actually gonna wash them with hot water since I thought that's what you do with stains." I went to the bathroom and but my clothes in the sink, thoroughly washing with soap and cold water, "I just realized that I don't have time to let my clothes dry before I leave" I said aloud, right as it came into my head.
"Hydrogen peroxide helps get bloodstains out!!! Do you have a hideout or a friend who doesn't ask questions?? Make sure that, if you're free, to bring money. And toilet paper because motel toilet paper is /a w f u l/"
"Okay, got my clothes, my wallet, my bus pass, my scrap book, a pillow, a small blanket, an umbrella, two books, one roll of toilet paper, hand sanitizer, the knife, and my phone..." I elongated the word as I stared at my lock screen
"What are you hiding, Patton?"
I didn't even look up from my phone "You guys wanna know that bad? Fine, I'll give you guys a hint. I trusted HIM with everything about me and HE broke that trust and I'm never gonna make that mistake twice." I changed my phone background. I couldn't have it be me, Virgil, and HIM.

How to Clean Your Mattress
Follow this tutorial on how to clean your mattress for a healthy night’s sleep. General mattress cleaning tips, stain removal guides and mattress maintenance ideas included.
Why should you clean your mattress?
Cleaning your mattress on a regular basis is important to prevent dust mites and dead skin cells from building up. A clean mattress also helps to promote a good night’s sleep {and who doesn’t need that?}. Although we can all benefit from a clean mattress, its particularly important if you are prone to sensitivities, asthma, or allergies. Mattresses generally contain the highest number of allergens in our homes, including molds, bacteria, viruses, and dust mites. I won’t get in to all of the nasty information out there about dust mites {and their feces!} in our mattresses because, quite honestly, I prefer not to think about it too much.  Let’s just say we want to reduce those guys as much as possible.
How to Clean Your  Mattress
Before you get started on your mattress, strip all of the bedding and mattress covers off of the bed and wash them in hot water (over 130 F).  This will kill any dust mites. Add 1/2 -1 cup of vinegar to your wash to remove any extra odors and soften your sheets. If possible, open up the windows to let in some fresh air and light while you clean.
Late winter/early spring is generally the best time to clean your mattress for dust mites as it will kill the dust mites that survived the winter and reduce their numbers in the summer months.  If you use and launder a mattress cover regularly, cleaning your mattress once per year should be sufficient {you may want to clean it more frequently if you have allergies}. Otherwise, you should be cleaning your mattress monthly.
Cleaning Option #1
Sprinkle baking soda over the mattress and allow it to sit for at least 30 minutes {longer is better} to absorb any odors. Using the upholstery attachment on your vacuum, vacuum the mattress paying extra attention to any stitches and crevices.
If you have any particular stained areas that you are needing to treat, do this prior to the above cleaning options but do vacuum the mattress to remove any loose dirt or dust before working on the stained area.  Remember that the quicker you can treat a stain, the easier it will be to remove!  See below for specific stain treatments.
After you have cleaned your mattress, ensure that the mattress is COMPLETELY DRY before putting the covers and sheets back on.  Any moisture will encourage the growth of molds, mildew, and bacteria.  Let your mattress dry out in the sun or run a fan over it for at least several hours until dry.  A blow dryer works too if you just spot treated stains. If you can’t get your mattress outside, you can pull it off your bed and prop it up by an open window to get more air circulating.
  Cleaning Option #2
If you really need an extra deep cleaning {and the weather permits!} take the mattress out in the morning on a sunny day to allow it to air out. Place a clean tarp or drop cloth down on the ground and place your mattress on top. The sun has a natural cleaning ability and can kill off bacteria hiding in the mattress.
Now the fun part… Grab a bat, golf club, 2×4, etc. and give your mattress a good beating for 10-20 minutes.  This will get rid of dead human skin cells, dust mites and their feces, and dander and will also give you a good workout!
Let your mattress sit in the sun for the day remembering to turn it around to the other side half way through the day.  You might want to give it another quick beating before bringing it back in at the end of the day.
How to Remove Stains from your Mattress
If you have any stains on your mattress, follow these general stain removal guidelines. For more persistent stains, check out the specific stain tips below.
When you’re treating mattress stains, keep your cleaning fluid use to a minimum to avoid over-saturating the mattress.  You do not want the interior padding of the mattress to become wet as it can develop mold and mildew or damage the wood inside of the mattress.
It is important to get to mattress stains as quickly as you can .  To avoid spreading the stain, blot {do not rub or scrub!} up any excess liquids or moisture moving from the outside of the stain inwards.  Use pressure to remove as much of the liquid as possible.
For general stains, you can use an upholstery cleaner and follow the directions as indicated on the bottle.  Again, ensure that you do not saturate the mattress too much.
To help remove odors, sprinkle baking soda over top. For a light, fresh scent, you can add some drops of your favorite essential oil to the baking soda and mix it in prior to sprinkling {it’s the same mix I use for freshening our carpets}. Let it sit for a couple of hours. Vacuum up any residual baking soda.
Blood Stains
Apply hydrogen peroxide {3%} to the blood stain.  {NOTE: The hydrogen peroxide may bleach fabrics so check for color fastness if this is a concern}. You can spray it on with a spray bottle if you are treating a larger area or put it on with a Q-tip for small spots.  Blot while it is bubbling with a clean, white cloth. Once it has stopped bubbling, leave it on for an additional 5-10 minutes.  Spray lightly with COLD water {the stains can set more if you use hot water due to the proteins in the blood} and blot until dry.  Repeat if necessary.  A salt water spray or dish soap mixed with water {1 tbsp. dish soap and 2 cups cold water} can also be used if treating a fresh blood stain.
Urine Stains
Blot excess fluid with a clean, white towel.  Make a cleaning solution of 2 tbsp. baking soda, 1 tsp. dish soap, and 1 cup 3% hydrogen peroxide {hydrogen peroxide breaks down quickly so use this immediately and discard what is not used}.  You can either use a spray bottle or a cloth soaked in the solution to apply the solution to the mattress. Let this set for up to 24 hours and then vacuum or wipe up any baking soda residue.  Repeat this process if any odors remain especially for pet stains.  You can also try blotting the spot with a cloth soaked in vinegar.
Odors
If the odor from your mattress is not removed by the general cleaning instructions above, you can purchase a plastic mattress bag {that is used by movers} from a moving or box company. Sprinkle the entire mattress with baking soda, and place in the sealed bag for 1-2 days.  Remove the bag and vacuum.
Mattress Maintenance Tips
The following tips are easy to do and can help to prolong the life and health of your mattress. Just work them into your regular routine when you typically clean your sheets.
Vacuum.
Vacuum your mattress when you change the sheets {or at least every 3 months} to reduce dust {this is much more effective if you have a HEPA rated vacuum}
Use a mattress cover.
These can help to protect against dust mites and other allergens and are easily removable and washable.  It will also reduce the need to vacuum the mattress as often.
Invest in a mattress pad.
These are placed over the mattress cover and under the sheet of the bed.  In addition to improving comfort, they also provide an additional barrier between you and the mattress and can be easily removed and laundered.  If you have young children, using a water resistent mattress pad is always a good idea for all of those night time “accidents” that can happen.
Wash bedding regularly.
Wash bedding and mattress covers frequently in hot water (above 130F) to kill dust mites.  Add 1/2 cup white vinegar to remove any odors and soften the sheets. Strip your beds if you are going on a vacation.  This provides a great opportunity to really air your mattress out.
Rotate your mattress.
Rotate your mattress about  once every 3 months  This allows for more even wear and tear of your mattress and can help prolong the life of your mattress.  {NOTE: Rotating your mattress refers to turning it 180 degrees {still keeping the top facing upwards}. Most of the newer mattresses are NOT designed to be flipped over so check your manual!}
Set your bedroom environment.
Since dust mites prefer warm, moist, dark environments, try keeping your bedroom humidity levels below 50% and the room temperature below 70 degrees when possible. Vacuum and dust your bedroom regularly to reduce dust.  Lightly misting surfaces with water prior to dusting can remove up to 90% of airborne dust and HEPA rated vacuums do the best job at vacuuming without blowing dust back up into the air.
Check Labels
Be careful of using deodorizing sprays or those that claim to reduce odors.  These products often do not actually remove the odor and just cover it up with stronger chemical smells.  Some of them contain chemicals that are not checked for safety and contain carcinogens.  Instead, look for options that are simple, natural, and biodegradable.
So hopefully that is everything that you could want to know about your mattress!  A little time cleaning = a healthier, good night’s sleep! And if you still need help getting a good night’s sleep, check out these 7 tips for a better night’s sleep.

How To Remove Blood Stains
Blood stains are one of the most frustrating household stains to contend with. Whether your child returns home with a scraped knee bleeding through a pair of pants or if a shaving nick leads to an unsightly spot on a towel, these organic stains should be dealt with as quickly as possible. Blood stains are much less troublesome when the blood is still wet. However, life is busy, and it is not always possible to treat a blood stain immediately. Luckily, removing dried blood stains is not as impossible as it seems. Here are some tips for removing all types of blood stains from a variety of fabrics if you don’t have a cleaning service.
How To Remove Blood Stains From Regular Fabric
This method works best on fresh blood stains.
Dampen the stain with cold water. Start by soaking the stain in cold water, as heat can actually set the stain and make things worse.
Rub the blood stain with a bar of soap. Lightly rub the dampened stain with a bar of soap, and lather gently.
Moisten the stain with ammonia. Apply a minimal amount of diluted ammonia to the stain with a cotton ball or paper towel.
Wash the item. Once you are done pre-treating the stain, wash the item using an enzyme-based laundry detergent (most laundry detergents are enzyme-based). Enzyme-based detergents help break down certain protein stains, such as blood. Once complete, check the stain. If the stain was successfully removed, dry as usual. If the stain remains, try again. Once you put the item in the dryer, the heat will further set the stain.
How To Remove Blood Stains From Light-Colored Fabric
This method also works best on fresh blood stains. It does use hydrogen peroxide, which can have a minor bleaching effect on fabric, so it is safest to use on white or light-colored clothing. However, for light-colored clothing, hydrogen peroxide is extremely efficient at removing blood stains. When mixed with blood, it creates an oxidizing chemical reaction that helps break down the stain.
Apply hydrogen peroxide to the blood stain. Saturate the blood stain with hydrogen peroxide.
Work the hydrogen peroxide into the stain. Rub the hydrogen peroxide into the stain using an old toothbrush or washcloth. The hydrogen peroxide will start to bubble when it meets the stain, much like it does when applied directly to a cut or scrape.
Allow the hydrogen peroxide to penetrate the stain. After working the hydrogen peroxide into the stain, let the stain sit for 10 to 15 minutes.
Rinse the stain. Rinse the stain under cold water. If the stain was completely removed, it is ready for step five. If the stain partially remains, repeat the process. Try mixing the hydrogen peroxide with a bit of Dawn dish soap for stubborn blood stains.
Wash as usual. Once the stain has been satisfactorily removed, wash the item as usual.
How To Remove Dried Blood Stains
While dried blood stains are more difficult to remove than fresh blood stains, they are not impossible.
Scrape off as much dried blood as possible. Scrape off any loose blood using the edge of a spoon.
Rinse the back of the stain with cold water. Loosen any remaining blood fragments by holding the back of the stain under cold, running water.
Soak fabric in cold water. Soak the stain in cold water for 10 minutes to an hour.
Work laundry detergent into the dried blood stain. Using a soft toothbrush, scrub a small amount of laundry detergent into the stain.
Rinse and evaluate the stain. Rinse the stain with cold water. If the stain hasn’t been fully removed, repeat steps one through four.
Wash as usual. Wash the item as usual.
For trickier dried blood stains, try soaking the stain in milk during step three, or rinse the stain with diluted white vinegar or club soda during step five.
How To Remove Blood Stains From Carpet or Upholstery
As with clothing, try to treat blood stains in carpet or upholstery as quickly as possible. Dried blood stains are much harder to remove.
Mix liquid dish soap with cold water. Add one teaspoon of liquid dish soap (such as Dawn) to two cups of cold water.
Blot the stain. Using a clean, white cloth, blot the stain with the cleaning solution repeatedly, until the stain is removed.
Rinse with water. Once the stain is removed, rinse the area with cold water and blot dry. If the spot remains, continue to step four.
Mix ammonia and warm water. Mix together one tablespoon of ammonia with 1/2 cup of warm water.
Blot the stain. Using another clean, white cloth, blot the stain with the solution from step four. Continue blotting until the solution has been absorbed, and the stain is removed.
Rinse with water. Once the stain is gone, rinse the area with cold water and blot dry.
Other Ways To Clean Blood Stains
Treating blood stains as quickly as possible is vital to a satisfactory outcome. If you don’t have the previously listed ingredients readily available, there are a few other methods and household items to use.
Vinegar. Apply a small amount of white vinegar to a fresh stain.
Salt. Soak the stained fabric in cold, salted water for approximately four hours.
Cornstarch. Mix cold water and cornstarch into a paste. Rub the paste into the fabric, and allow the paste to completely dry. Brush the excess paste off.
While blood stains can be stubborn, they are not impossible to remove. However, for set-in blood stains in carpet or in upholstery, you may feel more comfortable calling in the experts!

The Best Medical Student White Coat You Can Buy in 2018
One of the most important parts of your gear as a med student is your white coat. It’s a hallmark of the profession and an invaluable asset in your future work. But, how to find the right one when you’re just starting out?
In this article, you’ll learn how to do just that and how to maintain your white coat, so it stays pristine in the years to come. Finally, you’ll see the reviews of the best medical student white coats on the market! Let’s get started!
How to Choose the Right White Coat
Once you’re out there shopping for a white coat, you’ll see that it’s much more than just a piece of plain white cloth. At that point, picking the right one becomes incredibly difficult but here are a few things you should look out for if you want to succeed at that.
Good Materials
White coats can be made out of many different types of materials – here are some of the most common ones and how they fare.
Cotton – Cotton is a mainstay in the clothing industry and for a good reason, since it’s lightweight, comfortable, easy to wash and durable. The versatility of the material can’t be understated. However, they are typically not resistant to fire, stains or chemicals, so watch out.
Polyester/Cotton Blend – This is what you get when you mix cotton with a synthetic material, typically polyester. Depending on the ratio of the blend, the coat will have different properties. However, a 60/40 blend of polyester/cotton is considered to give you the best of both worlds – a comfortable, stain-resistant and durable piece of clothing.
Barrier Polyester – These types of white coats are made specifically to prevent fluid penetration and are used when dealing with infectious materials. They are typically not resistant to flames.
Nomex – The best fire-resistant material that’s also durable and resistant to washing. However, it’s not particularly comfortable or resistant to fluids.
Nylon – This is a lightweight and sturdy material that can withstand a lot of tension and is waterproof. They can also be fire and chemical resistant.
Rayon – A durable synthetic fabric that can last through repeated washing but is vulnerable to chemical damage.
Never buy disposable white coats, even though they might seem like a good choice at times – they can be extremely dangerous, especially around fire.
Proper Fit
Being comfortable in your white coat is important not only for you but for the patients you will be dealing with. The more comfortable you are, the better you will be at your job.
You might be tempted to get a fancier, more form-fitting white coat but always try to search for function over form. Just get something you feel comfortable in, and that won’t cause you to sweat too much.
It should also be easy to put on and remove in the case of an emergency – again, function over form is the key.
Safety
While you’re not likely to come across too many dangerous situations during your medical studies, they are bound to be at least a few. Wearing a white coat that will help keep you safe in those situations is a must.
White coats with snap-on buttons that can be easily taken off in the case of a fire or chemical spill can be extremely helpful, for example. Coats made out of more fireproof and chemical proof materials are also a good choice.
The length of the sleeves is also important for safety. Short sleeves are a hazard if you think there may be a danger of fire or chemicals, but long sleeves can be equally dangerous if there’s a chance of them getting stuck in machinery, for example. All of this goes for the length of the coat as well.
There’s a lot you need to consider, but safety should always be one of the priorities.
Utility
Lastly, your white coat needs to be functional in more ways than one. One of the most important things to keep in mind is pockets. They can be a lifesaver, and you should try to get a white coat that has at least two large side pockets, a chest pocket, and an inner pocket. Zippered pockets are also a plus since you will be less likely to lose your stuff.
Having a coat that has a clip on the back of the neck to hold the stethoscope is also useful.
There are many other utility features that a white coat can have, and you should consider them before you purchase it.
How to Maintain Your White Coat
Once you have your white coat, you need to make sure that it will last for a while. White coats are notoriously prone to staining and everyone who’s worn this piece of clothing for at least one day in the hospital is aware of that.
So, here’s how to deal with some of the most common hazards and properly maintain your white coat.
General Tips:
Wash your white coat regularly – at least once per week
Don’t wash it with colored clothing
Iron your coat after you wash it
If you have pets, regularly remove hair from it with rollers
Don’t fold the coat – make sure it is always hung up
Removing Blood Stains – Ah, the most common of all problems and one of the most difficult to deal with. Blood stains can be removed, but it does take some effort. The most important thing is to get to it fast, but it can still be removed if you act within a few hours of the stain occurring.
Put some hydrogen peroxide on the stain to start with and use gloves while doing it. Then wash your coat by hand using only cold water and some laundry soap. If the stain isn’t gone after that, soak the coat in cold water overnight along with a cleaning powder, and then wash it again in the morning.
Contagious Fluids – If your coat happens to come in contact with fluids containing bacteria, yeast, viruses, fungi or parasites, you need to wash it as soon as possible.
Start by filling a container with hot water and bleach, and then let your coat soak in the mixture for around 30 minutes. After that, put it in the wash and use a warm washing cycle.
Removing Coffee Stains – Coffee is the best friend of all medical students, at least until it betrays you and stains your white coat. The key here is, again, to act fast. Put cold water on the stained area as soon as possible and use some stain remover on it. Then, wash it as soon as possible, and it should be fine unless the stain is more than a day old.
Refurbishing a White Coat – If you have a white coat full of stains that refuse to come out, it might not be time to throw it away just yet. Here’s a technique you can use to restore your white coat and use it for a bit longer.
First, place stain remover on any stains and let the coat soak in warm water overnight with a lot of boosters added to the mix. Put just enough water to completely cover the coat in it.
The next morning you should put the coat in hot water with half a cup of bleach added. Let it soak for around 30 minutes, take it out and do a heavy duty wash in warm water with no other clothes except your coat – use laundry soap to do it. This should make your coat look presentable, but it probably can’t be done more than once.
The 5 Best Medical Student White Coats You Can Find
Natural Uniforms Unisex 40 inch Lab Coat, White
This is a professional-looking white coat made to fit both men and women. It is made with a good 65/35 mixture of polyester and cotton, making it both comfortable and durable in the long run.
The fit is a bit suspect, though, since it’s larger at the top and will most likely favor men. It also tends to run small, so you will probably need to order a size up.
It features a total of three pockets – two side pockets and one breast pocket, all reasonably deep but without zippers. Still, since they open up on the top, it’s not likely that anything will fall out.
It is 40 inches long which is standard in most medical schools so you won’t have any problems there.
Overall, it’s quite a good white coat, and it comes at a decent price.
Pros:
Three deep, safe pockets
Comfortable and durable
Fairly priced
Made from quality materials
Cons:
It’s not truly unisex, more suited to men
It runs a bit small
Utopia Wear Professional Men Lab Coat (White)
This is strictly a men’s white coat but it is made to fit well, and if you get the size that usually fits you, it will be perfect for you.
It is made from a good blend of polyester and cotton and is made to be quick thick, so it’s reasonably safe. However, it does run a bit hot in the summer months, but it will keep you warm in the winter, unlike most white coats.
It features three pockets that are deep enough and safe. It also has something most coats lack – an opening on the side so you can reach into your pants pockets. That’s a small addition, but a valuable one.
Overall, it’s comfortable and sufficiently durable though the buttons do tend to pop off on their own once in a while. Other than that, it’s great.
Pros:
Made from high-quality fabric
Machine washable
Comfortable and quite durable
Three deep pockets and openings for pants pockets
Cons:
It’s not breathable enough
The buttons tend to pop off
Dickies Everyday Scrubs Unisex 40 Inch Lab Coat
This white coat has a true unisex fit that will be good for most men and women. It doesn’t run too small or too large like most unisex white coats do – you can order it without worrying about that.
It does run a bit long though, and for shorter people, it might be a bit too long, so be wary of that. The sleeves won’t be too long, though.
It’s made with a good 65 to 35 polyester/cotton blend, and it washes just fine in the washing machine.
As far as utility goes, there are three deep pockets on the front of the coat, and it features openings for your pants pockets. Overall, it’s great in that regard.
The only major downside here is that the coat is a bit too thin. It works well in the summer months or in hot environments, but it might get ripped up too easily if you’re not careful.
Pros:
True unisex fit
It has openings for pants pockets
Deep and safe pockets, three of them
It’s easy to unbutton
Cons:
A bit too long for shorter people
Too thin
Dr. James Professionally Designed Unisex Lab Coat – 39 Inch Length
This is a decent unisex lab coat that does run a bit large but is able to fit both men and women to a satisfactory degree.
It’s made from a usual mix of polyester and cotton, a 65/35 blend which provides it with good durability and the fabric is reasonably thick. There are a lot of loose threads though, and they might unravel the coat if you don’t cut them off in time.
The pockets here are a bit unusual – there are four of them on the front, but not in the usual way. There’s a breast pocket and two large pockets on the front of the coat. The right pocket also houses a smaller pocket inside it, intended for a smartphone. The coat has openings for your pants pockets as well.
Overall, it’s a decent white coat that comes at a good price.
Pros:
Great, useful pockets and openings
It has a true unisex fit
A decent, affordable price
Breathable in the summer
Cons:
It runs a bit large
Lots of loose threads
Meta LabWear Unisex Colored 40″; Lab Coat
This is one of the rare white coats with an inside pocket, and that’s highly appreciated. It does have the three usual outside pockets as well, and they’re not too shabby either. The slits to access your pants pockets are there as well.
Another great thing that’s included is a swing belt, something that most white coats don’t come with. Some people might find it superfluous, but it can be useful to hold your coat together in certain situations.
Overall, it’s decently durable though the fabric is thinner than you would expect. However, that does make it highly breathable in the summer months, and the slightly shorter sleeves also help but make it a bit unsafe.
It’s not a bad coat, and it runs a bit big so order a size up if you’re getting it.
Pros:
Features a two-piece swing belt
Three outside and one inside pocket
Made to be durable
Highly breathable
Cons:
The fabric is a bit thin
It runs a little big for most people

Cons:
A bit too long for shorter people
Too thin
Dr. James Professionally Designed Unisex Lab Coat - 39 Inch Length
Meta LabWear Unisex Colored 40"; Lab Coat
It runs a little big for most people
Conclusion
That’s about all there is to it! If you follow this guide closely, you will be able to find a great medical white coat in no time and keep it in good condition for a long while.
But, if you’re still stressing about your choice, here’s the best one of these five products – it’s the Dr. James Professionally Designed Unisex Lab Coat. It has great pockets, it’s durable, and it’s a good fit for most people, making it one of the top white coats on the market.

Original comic:  patton-sanders-killed-a-man.tumblr.com/post/618278832333520896/one-shower-and-change-of-clothes-later by @patton-sanders-killed-a-man
"Patton, calm down, don't act suspicious.
