spock doesn’t actually speak until the end of film in search for spock... there is the narration nimoy does at the end of WoK that is used at the beginning of this one and spock’s kahtra technically speaks through bones on occasion, but spock doesn’t actually talk until he’s back in one piece after the reunification of his kahtra to his body

not only is this a convo with kirk, but it’s about three very interesting things that blend together: first, knowledge that has been given to him since he woke up that kirk is responsible for him being alive again (even if he doesn’t understand why). i am now going to word vomit about this

the second piece is sparked by kirk’s answer to this question, a reworking of the phrase they used multiple times together - the needs of the one outweighing the needs of the many and vice versa. not only is this something they’ve said in multiple convos, it was a part of their last conversation together as spock was dying. recognizing these words/their reverse helps him remember why he died in the first place, he’s even able to repeat the next part of the conversation they had and can ask about what happened because of the actions he took before they spoke, and their effect to the ship after he died

spock remembering jim’s name during this part is the most interesting, since it comes out of nowhere and isn’t technically related to what they’re talking about. there’s something else that clicks in that vulcan brain about this human he’s talking to. it’s not admiral, not captain, hell not even kirk. it’s his first name, which is something spock wasn’t exactly known for using unless in private or when he was panicking (devil in the dark comes to mind lmaooo)

im mulling over why this is the third piece to what they say to each other... it seems to be the first bit of information to come to spock that isn’t directly related to a memory or stemming from what is currently being discussed. there’s certainly something very sweet in remembering his t’hy’lya’s name and the last time they spoke to one another before all else...

its especially eye opening considering spock insists on calling him admiral throughout the voyage home after he’s been reintegrated into societal norms (and probably regained some/most of his memory) even though kirk insists that jim is just fine of a thing to call him!

This was to be expected, he supposed. The monsters had caught the scent, and though the two had started out strong; it was only a matter of wearing them down. The barrier still held, growing weaker with every hit. It would shatter in another two, and all Ophiuchus could do was grip Clementine’s hand tightly. A smile was given, “Not a single regret has been made, turnesol. If I were to make this choice again I would do so gladly.” Crunch. It was faltering. Another hit was all it’d take – and he raised his shield up.

One last act of defiance to their fate.

The barrier shattered, and the horde of monsters poured through.

      ❛       IT WARMS ME    to hear that    .  .      ❜       she breathes,    grip on her chakram tight as she takes her stance behind him as ordered    --    preparing what she believed would be a final dance ‘fore throwing forth both of her weapons forward,    slicing in half one of the heads of the monsters coming    FOR THEM BOTH.

Middle-aged man who is socially awkward and very polite who has another middle-aged socially awkward polite man visiting his house for a good conventional reason (lending tools, helping him fix the plumbing in his house, dropping off something that was borrowed, etc) and the guy whose house it is offers refreshments to be polite and the other guy accepts it to be polite and now theyre drinking beer together and since theyre both so awkward and polite they constantly put out attempts to be polite and the other reciprocates immediately in order to be polite and neither see how it’s awkward in the other because they're both awkward so they don’t know how it’s supposed to go anyway (they each use politeness as a guiding rhetoric in social situations and defer on impulse) and they end up having gay sex as a polite gesture because one thing led to another and it was the polite thing to do at every turn and the first guy doesnt want to kick the other guy out becasue thats rude so he offers to let him stay the night and the second guy doesnt want to be a burden and so he politely declines at first but he doesnt want to make it seem like he’s in a hurry to leave becasue that’s rude but the first guy doesnt want it to seem like the second guy is unwanted so he offers again but tries not to be pushy and so the second guy accepts becasue the first guy has a lovely home and has been so courteous thus far. And they embrace each other through the night to be polite
