sorry this is so late 😭 july just came and went ?? i swear it was still june just last week ... anyway ... it's finally the weekend and i've caught up and organized myself enough to polish this list up :)

Another of my apologies
My dear followers, readers and my beloved friends. Here I could only put something like a zillion of apologies for my inactivity during the last half of the year. But even like that, I would still feel like I owe you all something more. The most important thing for me to say right now is:
I STILL LOVE YOU ALL AND THINK OF YOU VERY OFTEN! (AND I STILL LOVE AOD, of course.)
In general I'm okay. But I've been dealing with some family/health-related matters since the beginning of the year, and it all has been leaving me totally exhausted, drained and without ANY motivation to do ANYTHING more that the necessary things and chores.
I realize that some people are dealing with thousands-times worse situations and feelings. And they do a way better job than me. And I'm kind of ashamed that I wasn't able to handle it all better that to hide and lock myself somewhere inside my shell of solitude and ignorance. But it didn't appear to me like that. I didn't realize it earlier. The time has just passed way too fast for me. It feels to me like I was not active online only for like a month or so...
So I was horrified when I realized the length of my absence. And it has made me feel really bad, because I wasn't replaying or even reading your messages during the time. And I’ve also missed all the TR-related topics. Today I’ve realized that I even missed our beloved's (Kurtis Trent’s) birthday! :O And also Lara’s. (= the situation is critical. XD)
Now seriously. Lately I've been very thoughtful; about the order of things, about the generosity and - on other hand - also indifference of some people. How non-functional the help from the outside (state/health care) can get. And how the whole system simply doesn't care/doesn’t work. (My idealistic dreams are gone on this part.)
Anyway, I'm so sorry. My brain just wasn't working properly with all the worries and gloomy thoughts. I know that it's a poor excuse, but it's true. But hopefully, now that I was FINALLY able to write this post at least, things will get better. Also for the family situation, there is a plan at least now, so the times of total uncertainty and confusion should be over in the close future. At least partly.
Now I can only beg you all to give me another chance. And once again ask for for your generosity and forgiveness. ♥ ♥ ♥
Either way, I'm getting back. I will get to some of you in more detail in the following days. So I hope for you to hear me out at least.

I went through the Instagram acccount of one of my favorite Tomb Raider artists again today and had to stop at this piece. The artist adayka likes to draw Lara Croft in a similar artstyle as the one from the Tomb Raider comics released roughly 20 years ago. She's experimented with different materials to draw on and chose cardboard quite a few times now.
Her carboard art is one of my favorites as the simplicity and roughness of the canvas fits perfectly to the style of the classic Tomb Raider games. The artist likes to draw some sort of map on a different material which is then glued to the cardboard. The map is kept in a similar color scheme to the cardboard material and serves as a frame to the image of Lara she draws on top. She likes to go over the edges of the map such as with Lara's ponytail or the smoke of the gun.
While Lara is the immediate focus of the artwork due to the green top, she doesn't stand out as the color scheme used for her feels very much integrated into warm desert-like background color of the map and the cardboard.
If you look at Lara and follow her gaze you'll be guided to the drawings on the map which seem to depict Lara's location during her current adventure. Adayka manages to work with the positioning of the different parts of her art here to tell a short story very in line with what Tomb Raider stands for.

That what you did here with the last page, I made with @positivelyamazonian sketchbook (i made one from kurtis based on her ff) i guess the paper was thicker but i used coffee and wine for it and if it’s copy paper i guess it will work (ofc 1. test the ink reaction with a bit water, 2. thin paper, not too much liquid, you can always repeat) and you could burn it a bit at the edges “a bit” keep attention �� also and you could put some “dirt” on it��.I guess with these things you will not destroy it
you can smear the whole page with coffee and a few extra rings on it, the page will turn golden yellow and smell good, and it will curl �� if you have tested the reaction of the ink, if the ink smeers, i would use only the dirt/burn and only single coffee/wine cup rings :3
The sketchbook you made for positivelyamazonian looked great and the worn look was what I was expecting from this. I think the sketchbook you used did have heavier paper and could handle a little weathering from some liquids.
I actually did a test with a print of the journal using some very watered down gouache and I burned the edges. It turned out pretty good (see below) but I’m not sure if I want to do it to the journal or not. I’m not sure the paper can completely handle it, especially if I don’t go in with a plan.
But thank you for letting me know how you achieved the effect! :D

I think I need to see a doctor or something because I physically cried and got excited at the sight of these! Oh my god they are just beautiful, like they are simply stunning @adayka, how do you do it?! They arrived today and at the perfect time too, really boosted my mood 🤗 the chocolates will noy survive the night 🤫

Words can’t describe how happy I am so have these pieces, as well as excited for them to come. I was somewhere between the ages of four and ten when I was first introduced to Tomb Raider. It was Angel of Darkness specifically that was my first taste not only in the Tomb Raider franchise, but also video games as a whole. Which is why it is so important to me. Not only for these reasons but also because this game is one of the fondest moments I have sharing with my dad. I can’t remember having a lot but this will always one of them.
He used to play video games on his computer. Things like Max Payne and Serious Sam, but it was Lara who stuck out to me the most. I though she was so cool back then scaling buildings and wearing a jean jacket, not to mention running from the police for wanted murder. I used to always come home and ask my dad to play it so I could watch him. Soon, he let me play it too and watching him would always help me what to do, and if I ever needed my dad’s help passing a certain point he’d do it. Then continue to play for thirty minutes. And if he needed help passing a level I would take over. I probably spent most of my free time on the computer playing that game. The only thing I couldn’t stand was that I had a very irrational fear of falling in the dark in the game. It would scare me and so stupidly I told my dad this once and he never let me forget it.
I wanted to be Lara when I grew up. I wanted to be like her and do what she did. Years later my Grandmlther told me being archeologidt was really like that. It crushed my little soul. I would even pretend I was Lara and still do—in the stupidest ways like when I bend down to pick something up or when I’m running up stairs. No, I couldn’t have been interesting like buryning things in the backyard and turning it into some great exposition, I wanted to be the one wanted for a murder she didn’t commit. Classic.
When Anniversary rolled around my dad and I played that. I listened to him once call Lara a “dumb broad” when he would miss a jump. And when it was my turn I’d call her a “stupid bitch.” Lara you still my girl.
When I got my first and only set of straight A’s I asked my dad for Legend. Which might possibly be my second favourite game. It is also the first in the franchise I finished. The second was Underworld.
I’ve also read most of the old comics, which I love and still own. Back when they were in black and white. Shamelessly, I would taken them to school and colour in them. I used to think it made me badass, but now I know it’s never badass to destory literature. Unless you’re Lara Croft.
I’ve played the new games and I love them. They’ll never be the classics but that is what makes them great. Lara’s story told as a survivalist rather then an archaeologist. The fact that they give you an AOD skin make the games more thrilling. Yet, unfortunately my dad never played them. He was very burnt out from working and didn’t have the time. When “Rise” came around for the computer I purchased it but unfortunately it was around this time last year when my dad had a heart attack and despite doing everything to save him it was too late. But before he was gone he was in a coma in ICU. I had brought my computer in to play but couldn’t bring myself to do it knowing my dad wouldn’t be able to see me or play it himself.
In short, Angel of Darkness was an important piece of my childhood. It was one of my first loves and one of my best memories. I wish I could thank my dad for such a wonderful gift.
