Bedtime in the House of Lamentation
pairing: om! brothers x reader
summary: you have a special sleep speaker that changes colors. they check in on your room when they hear noise at night, but it's not you and they find a lone light glowing their nail color or power

This was one of the nights he does his rounds of the house. Making sure his brothers, Mammon, weren't out causing trouble for him to deal with later. Being the eldest, when he does these check-ins, he'd just open the door and then leave the bedroom resident to whatever they were doing. He never thoroughly checked a room unless something suspicious was going on, or he's heard rumors regarding the resident and their bedroom.
So when he finally gets to the first floor he notes that there's a faint sound of classical music. He ends up at the front of your door and without a second thought he opens the door and is met with the speaker glowing, music flowing from it and your sleeping form.
It seems you tried to pull an all-nighter. Your phone still in your hand, covers not properly covering you, but sleeping so peacefully. A small smirk appears on his lips as he pulls the covers over you, making sure you don't get a cold, and then leaves the room. Maybe he'd need to get not cursed records and finish work earlier so you can fall asleep together.

When hears the faint sound of slot machines in the House of Lamentation he's in a whiplash of excited and confused. Didn't he just leave the casino? And there's no way in west devildom that Lucifer agreed to him wanting a mini casino in the house. So naturally he follows the sound and hopes for the later.
But no, it's coming from... your room?! Quickly opening the door he finds a small speaker emitting a light and your phone, charging, right next to it. "Casino ambience..." he whispers reading the title of the video in your phone screen after getting closer to it.
Awww his human missed him, well it's only right that he adds to this bedtime immersion by slipping into bed with you. Crawling into the bed with you, holding you close, he notices you almost stir awake and the small smile on your face. Damn, could you possibly be any cuter right now?! He rubs your back and soothes you back into your deep sleep and soon drifts off as well.

He had left his room for a food break between gaming. He had a few raids and team rounds to do, but right now refueling was more important. That's when he hears something near the kitchen. Putting down his cup noodles he follows the sound and finds it coming from your room.
There was a faint light glowing from the crack in the door and it wasn't the usual bright yellow from the lanterns and fairy lights in the room. Pressing his ear to the door he recognizes the music being one of your cozy games. Gaining no answer from knocking on your door, or calling out to you, he opens the door and instantly covers his mouth. 'Oh my gosh they're so cute! WAIT NO THIS IS CREEP BEHAVIOR!! but...' He practically tip toes into your room and sees the speaker.
Doing a double take he leaves your room as quickly and quietly as possible... after a picture of you with the speaker's light on you first though... you're just too pretty and it's too heart-warming to know when you don't or cant sleep in his room, because you can't sleep, this is how you remedy it.

He's used to you falling asleep while reading to you, or when you'd spend time with him just to fall asleep on his lap waiting for him to finish his books. And yes he'd go cat watching with you. Even plotting to adopt a few if you both ever got the okay from Lucifer. Though he wouldn't have guessed things like that extend to you getting a good night's rest.
This particular night he was entranced by a book in the library when he heard... meowing? Though it wasn't normal meows, it was to the tune of some song. He knows that cats are known to sing sometimes but since when did either of you sneak one into the house? Following the sound he soon realizes that it's some kind of recording because what's next is a narration of a book he's read before.
Noticing the green glow from under the door he decides to check in on you and sees you knocked out. The sound of a narrator, close to his tone of voice, reading you a story as you dreamt away. He couldn't help but smile as a warm feeling took over his heart. To think you needed to hear him, or someone like him, read stories for you to properly sleep was too sweet to bare. He quietly closes the door and heads off to bed for the night.

First of all, he didn't expect for you to go to bed so early. Usually he's the one with an early bedtime but tonight was an exception. There was a party he was invited to and he couldn't just ignore his adoring fans.
So when he came back and heard a sleep meditation coming from your room, his curiosity gets the better of him. He decides to take a peek into your room and has to hold back a squeal over how you look sleeping. When it comes to beauty only you could rival him, and this even counts when you're sleeping!
His eyes follow where the faint pink glow is coming from and surprise! it's your little speaker. He can't help admire you and be glad you took up one of his trends. You really do care! Of course he does his bedtime routine and then cuddles up in bed with you. The pink mood lighting and how peaceful it is was just too hard to resist.

Beel is known for his late night kitchen rummages. Infact he got used to you not stopping him but helping by joining in or just keeping him company, you'd rarely scold him for his late night rampages. Though tonight you were no where to be found.
When he first passed by your bedroom it was relatively quiet, so he figured you were asleep. Not being able to eat how he usually would, concerned over your absence, he took only a couple snacks and checked on your room again before going back to his.
This time he notices a music box playing and a light coming from under the door. He peeks through a crack in the door he makes from opening it a little, and notices you sleeping. He smiles warmly and the grin becomes bigger when he sees where the light and sound is coming from. You and Belphie slept the same, covered with blankets and surrounded by pillows. It was endearing and he couldn't help but curl up in your room that night with his snacks.

Being the Avatar of Sloth, he didn't have to go to you room to see how you were sleeping. Though you did peak his curiosity a little when he heard lofi music coming from your room. Surely you couldn't be so diligent, or a nerd, that you'd be studying at this time of night. Turns out his suspicion was correct, you weren't studying.
He was currently a by-stander of your dreams tonight and he takes note of how he appears in them. It wasn't like he was fully in your dream, no dream self to speak of, but instead things you associated with him.
Taking his powers a bit further he astral projects and finds himself right by your bed. A glow of light seems to pass through his spirit form and looking over he finds where it's coming from, along with what's making your dreams what they are. Smiling a little he looks over at your sleeping form, a bit of your face peeking out from the mass of covers, and notices that you're smiling too. "Cute." He whispers and decides to insert himself into your dreams. You wanted him so bad then fine, he'll be there.

ACNH : I'M RESTARTING OVER !
I was kinda bored with my pink island which no longer matched my aesthetic, sooo i decided to start afresh to build a more gothic save. And since i HAAATE snow in AC and wanted to get Halloween collection without waiting like 8 MONTHS, I set my console to October 2024.
My resident services is done ! As you can see, my museum too, but i think it would not be interesting to show you that before i finish decorating this area… and yeeeeeah i tried to create a flag buuut i'm awful at pixel art…
I unlocked a few Halloween stuff, sooo i decided to do a cute little park to rest and take some pics. I don't think it's finished, since the trees behind didn't grow yet, and i want to recolor the ground when i will unlock this functionality. But i'm already satisfied by how it looks !
Since Tom Nook asked me to place a camping area, i began to put some decor, but i don't think it's giving enough gothic vibes sooo i will certainly make some changes. I think the fences would stay, because they are both natural as should be a camping, but not too "cottage core". If you have any tips to make it creepier, i'm all ears !
Aaaand oh wow, this is my first post, so hiiii ✨
I don't know how often i'm going to post buuuuut hey, i will try to post when i have something interesting to show you. Since my computer can't run the Sims 2 (never, never, NEVER install Linux on your computer if you wanna play Sims on it…), i will post mostly about ACNH and my advancements on my island.

i do not unfortunately. does your island have a theme? if i still regularly played ACNH i would take your flowers, but i rarely ever do anymore
i'm not doing great atm but i redownloaded genshin a few days ago and have been obsessively playing that. it's very fun :) i left off on inazuma so i have a Lot of catching up to do. i made a new account, but i do still have my old one.
^ fun fact i know basically the entire fontaine map from watching videos, but i have zero clue what sumeru looks like because i never actually got to that point in-game. i will be excited to see it when i get there. apparently the archon quest is like 50 years long

I've grown to really enjoy urbancore in ACNH, I think it's one of the first games you can genuinely do that vibe justice in Animal Crossing (New Leaf to some extent too, maybe). But I find that actually doing these areas is a big pain compared to more natural builds. There's something about the way that a lot of the panels don't line up with each other, along with other similar things (the patch of grass in front of inclines, the circle in the middle of face cut-outs) that just drive me crazy lmao. Combine this with having to juggle not having enough pattern slots to solve some of these problems, and that can be really frustrating as well. Fake buildings are a lot easier to make look good if you aren't stingy about the amount of patterns you use to put them together. (My post-apocalyptic island is a nightmare with pattern slots because it kind of requires both nature ones and city ones, it's not a good combo)

WEEK 2 - Visual research, elevator pitch, practice-led session
Task 1: lectures techno track
Disclaimer: am writing this after class trying to remember what it sounded like. (｡-ˇ_ˇ-｡)
Given a moment to get straight into thinking experimentally for class our lecture gave us a taste of what he listens to while driving to work. The techno track playing silently on his phone gave a sense of mysterious even hypnotic beat, with the synthetic rhythms blurring my train of thought. K.K. Technopop by K.K. Slider is a similar track to what was being played in class. A few synthetic beats mashed up in creating something that is not too heavy but suitable for keeping the mind distracted.

Layered image of the animal crossing new horizons (anch). A melting memory during covid. K.K. Technopop was one of the first songs i got in acnh. At that time i designed my first room to this song and i wanted to try recreate the vibe of the room with manipulating the images i took below.
The image with the figure is from Hirono City of Mercy a blind box series, placed Hirono to seem as if staring at the ceiling light. Second image is photos I took for a classmate and her glass work. Wanted to use the light reflections to recreate a delusional effect.
Task 2: Pitch - Idea Generation
portrait/editorial, character story telling, craftsmanship cosplay. Showcasing the work of those that are passionate in the characters that they relate to. relations - wig/garment/prop construction, makeup. Outcome - magazine, physical prints, felling viewer interacting or watching the character? Cinematic shooting?
Coco is a cosplayer that i have been following on twitter for a while. The photographs that Coco's friend takes of her make the character that she is cosplaying look so natural candid even. I would like to take this chance to practice portraiture through capturing cosplayers while showcasing their creations.
Task 3: Elevator Pitch

Task 4: Test Idea Pitch
Objective: show case character story that is being portrayed by cosplayers
cosplayer - performance art in which participants called cosplayers wear costumes and fashion accessories to represent a specific character.
Target Audience: people that enjoy - costume making, anime, cosplay, Imperial China - Tang Dynasty
Test: Photos - my sister is currently sewing her first cosplay as Maomao the main lead from The Apothecary Diaries a recent popular animated series.
Mood board: scenes from the anime of maomao researching the different plants and its effects on the human body.
The Apothecary Diaries: Maomao is a character who lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father until she got sold to the palace to work as a servant. Her curiosity and love in medical practices led her to solving the medical mysteries among the royalties.
I wanted to interpret the scenes in the mood board as if it was a promotional event for a live action for this anime. Show casing my sister and her interpretation of the garment that the main character wears. The set was created in the living room at night with a few candles lit up around the coffee table to recreate the warm lighting from the oil lamps. Used my laptop to obtain more light by changing the screen to bright orange. The set was simple and quick as I wanted to test the idea with using props from the pantry.
These images that I have picked out have not been edited yet. Because I was shooting in the living room, when I was playing with the light values the couch became visible in post production. I reckon for week 5 and 6 I would have to plan and scout places for the scenes that I want to take. Or even practice with a light studio shoot and manipulate the subjects into the scenes.

Animal Crossing e o isolamento
No início da pandemia do coronavírus, a Nintendo lançou Animal Crossing: New Horizons, um simpático jogo no qual a gente gerencia uma ilha povoada de bichinhos cheios de personalidade. ACNH foi sucesso de vendas e até ajudou a impulsionar as vendas do próprio console para o qual ele foi projetado, o Nintendo Switch. Bom, não é difícil entender essa popularidade toda, afinal, as pessoas estavam todas se trancando em casa, tendo que lidar com as incertezas de uma crise de saúde de dimensão global e com a perspectiva sombria da incompetência das lideranças da época.
“Isolamento” mesmo tem origem em insula, “ilha” em latim.
O timing do lançamento pegou todo mundo no clima perfeito para uma experiência reconfortante, em que sua maior preocupação é ser atacada por vespas (o que não tem nenhuma consequência fatal no jogo). Você pesca, captura insetos, escava fósseis, contribui com o museu/aquário/insetário da sua ilha, constrói pontes e ladeiras, decora tudo e interage com personagens fofinhos. Ah, e pelo preço de uma assinatura Nintendo Online, você visita as ilhas dos seus amigos também!
(Um dos grandes eventos da época foi a visita do ator Elijah Wood, sim, o Frodo, à ilha de uma moça. Bom, a visita do avatar dele. Aqui tem o próprio comentando a respeito.)
A Diva e o Buck foram meus primeiros vizinhos. O bordão que eu ensinei ao Buck, um cavalo crossfiteiro, foi “pocotop!”. A Diva não usa mais o “meteu essa?” da imagem.
Eu só fui aderir mais tarde a essa febre. O console veio em 2021 (porque um ano trancada em casa já tinha me enlouquecido, sim), mas o jogo mesmo veio em 2022. Concentrei toda a minha energia inicial na nostalgia do Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, um remake do Harvest Moon para Game Boy Advance. Demorei não só porque tudo isso (console+jogo) é caro, mas também porque eu sabia que ia me viciar em Animal Crossing.
Tive idas e vindas, ainda tenho fases de desinteresse. Primeiro porque cada financiamento de reforma de casa custa muito dinheiro, e toda mecânica fica tediosa quando repetida um milhão de vezes. É realismo demais para o meu gosto: ter que trabalhar tanto para ganhar umas míseras moedas (os Bells) que não cobrem nem 1/4 dos meus empréstimos. E, inicialmente, eu não queria dar MAIS dinheiro do mundo real à Nintendo para ter acesso online, o que facilitaria muita coisa.
Na prática, a minha ilha fazia jus ao nome de ilha: eu jogava sozinha, sem guia, sem ver a ilha de ninguém, pesquisando apenas dúvidas pontuais. Eu tinha receio até de cortar minhas árvores nativas, quanto mais usar os recursos de “terraformação” (criação de lagos e morros).
Absolutamente nada me preparou para a beleza arquitetônica do museu. Já tenho todos os fósseis e peixes, mas para o alívio do Blathers, ainda me faltam uns besouros mais raros…
Daí, em janeiro de 2023, eu cometi o erro de assistir a vídeos no YouTube sobre dicas do jogo. Que me sugeriram inspirações para temas de ilha. É um erro porque depois que a gente entra em contato com a inventividade alheia, a nossa ilha parece inconsolavelmente feia.
De uma hora para outra, eu queria tudo que eu via: ambientação camponesa cottagecore, calçadas, uma área/praça de recepção para os visitantes da ilha, uma zona de acampamento com vibe natural, lojas em níveis, um café fofinho. Recantos, áreas, nichos… A comunidade do jogo é criativa demais, é difícil não se encantar! Só que eu não tinha Bells nem objetos adequados para tanto e, sem uma conexão com a internet, não tinha nem as maravilhosas texturas personalizadas criadas por uma comunidade que sabe, de fato, mexer com arte em pixels.
Aliás, nesse tempo de isolamento, um dos meus maiores orgulhos foi ter conseguido criar sozinha a bandeira da minha ilha, Plumeria, em pixel art. Usando várias fotos de referência, como artistas de verdade. Na época, eu nem sabia que o logotipo do DLC, Happy Home Paradise, era também uma flor de jasmim-manga (um pouco mais estilizada).
Acabou que eu reproduzi várias das ideias de outras pessoas com as texturas do próprio jogo, e com os objetos que eu consegui pela progressão da história. Sem viagens no tempo, sem “ilhas de tesouros” — mais tarde descobri que a comunidade chama essa forma de jogo de “modo difícil”.
Então, no início do ano, eu tive uma das experiências mais legais em ACNH, ainda num momento em que estava hiperfocada nisso de reformar a ilha: multijogador local com amigos. Presencial. No mundo real E virtual.
Essa boate incrível é na ilha da minha amiga, lá atrás na mesa de DJ. Também foi com ela que eu consegui todas as frutas de jogo.
O negócio é que eu descobri que alguns recursos, como as frutas não nativas da sua ilha, só podiam ser obtidos com outras pessoas. Ou via online, ou local. Então propus esse encontro presencial bem interesseiro… e foi demais!
Não só por esses motivos “mal-intencionados” de obter coisas que nós não conseguiríamos sem uma ajudinha externa, mas porque a gente tem um vislumbre do talento e da imaginação dos nossos amigos, do que eles consideram prioridade no jogo, de como eles “vivem” suas próprias ilhas. Não tem competição, não tem metas a serem cumpridas; é tudo descoberta e festa e inspiração.
Essa é a minha pracinha de recepção de visitantes. É uma área elevada com máquinas automáticas, bebedouro, relógio e banquinhos.

The Easy Life in Kamusari
Drace's Star Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Like I had originally mentioned in the blurb, I actively could not shut up about this book. There was so much I wanted to touch on and use my words to explore with this book because it was actually super touching and gave me a great sense of relief to read it!
Getting Some Sense of it: If you've ever seen my first ACNH Island, the occult, it's not a big secret that I have a huge crush on rural aesthetics*, especially that of rural Japan. While doing research for the Occult, I spent a good amount of time gobbling up documentaries, travel blogs & vlogs, books, and about anything that I could to just be inspired. It's been a longstanding goal of mine to do an apprenticeship in the Japan at some point in my life to one day fulfill my dream of being a Tea Master / Tea Sommelier.
COVID and my personal health has put a huge damper on this dream of mine, but ya'know. It doesn't mean I still can't dream about it while reading. Anyway, I was flipping through the Amazon Prime Reads while I was at work, and I happened upon this lovely little gem. I 100% started to read it between waiting tables**, and I just could NOT put it down or stop. I was super into it. I definitely got two hours of sleep because I tried to finish this book in between a closing shift and a turnaround. The context I provided above is probably ultimately why, but at the same time, it has an atmospheric vibe and cadence that lends itself to being extremely interesting.
Synopsis: The premise du jour of the book is the main character, Yuki Hirano, is pushed into joining the Green Initiative in Japan by his parents who are kicking him out of their house immediately after high-school. The Green Initiative is a way to re-introduce people to dying rural industries. Yuki so happens to get stuck into the Forestry sector, and without a choice he is whisked away by a family member to the train station and sent to a remote location known as Kamusari Village.
The book is all about his struggle to find his place in the world, and decide if this life he was practically foisted into is really something he can be proud of. Along the way you meet an absolutely HILARIOUS cast of (somewhat feral) characters, and get drawn into the local culture just as he is. What I really love about this book is that it is extremely well-paced. As you're learning information and themes, you're met with lovely imagery and absolute shenanigans. The book knows how to tell you a good story, and knows when to let your mind have a breath of air and a break with a slow but AMAZING mental imagery of a backdrop of remote wilderness.
The characters: So the narrator of this tale is Yuki Hirano. He's a freshly graduated young adult at the age of 18. He's a bit on the cowardly side, and just seems to be all around awkward and shy. His spinelessness is something he rags on about himself, but he's very good-nature and ruefully goofy, which gives him an endearing and down to earth vibe. He has a lot of growing and coming to terms with certain things in this book to do, but he takes to the task quite well.
The Nakamura Lumber Boys: Yoki will get his own mention in a second, so set aside our lovable wild-man for a second. The entire team of Nakamura lumber from the wild boar man, to the elders who spend time with Yuki teaching and boosting his confidence are such a good band of characters.
They all have their drawbacks and faults, but they do their best to show their good nature to the very strange boy who most of them have determined won't actually be staying in Kamusari very long. That doesn't deter them from trying to persuade him to stay though.
Yoki: Yoki is the character that Yuki seems to be in the most conflict of at the beginning, but by the end the two of them are extremely close. Yoki may be an expert at all things forestry related, but he is absolutely shit at keeping himself in check as a human being. This brings a very humorous balance to the very one-sided relationship at the very beginning. It helps Yuki to humanize Yoki a lot. (Even though Yoki's problems are to his own admission-- his fault.)
Yuki gets along well with Yoki's wife (to the point where they would be on best-level in the best book) and his grandmother, Shige, has adopted Yuki as her second grandchild.
The Plot: The plot is basically snippets of Yuki's first year in Kamusari, told as a reflective journal. He calls himself out for his own cowardice and lines of thinking, reflecting on the growth he's done as a person while recalling the most vivid and life-changing experiences he lived through during his year in Kamusari. The whole point of him working on this journal was for him to ultimately decide whether or not he wanted to continue on as a forester in the new life provided for him.
Some of My Drawbacks: My only issue with it is that this is definitely a Y.A. book. The author, Shion Miura, has a collection of different works in relations to jobs and professions of Japan. She is an absolute wizard at being able to craft lovely tales of people living their everyday lives and is amazingly good at imparting the Japanese Pride in Traditionalism.
Because of this, Kamusari is 100% geared at younger readers, and has a goal of inspiring and gently nudging the reluctant to look into doing something that inspires them. It's pro-capitalistic propaganda for sure. [Future Drace, if you can find that Let's Ask Shogo about Japan's work culture again, please link it here. Overall Impression & Score: Nuances of social issues aside, Good book is good people. Anything that inspires me to read well into the night and to the detriment of my own health will usually get glowing praise. Whether or not other people will get the same sort of elated buzz I did out of it is another story, but. for me solid 5/5***.
Honestly, writing this review felt like a nice good leg stretch. I edited together a lot of broken tangents from the original blurb, and I think I have this settled. I am not sure if I will be doing a full length or blurb for the second book in the Kamusari series, Tales Told at Night... However, I will probably do a series wrap because I think Kamusari is the first series that I have finished blogging through.
