last thing i need to do is decorate my beaches tbh and then i can release my dream address
since i rarely play animal crossing anymore, the last couple times i’ve booted up the game, i’ve been able to wander around my island with fresh eyes, and i’ve realized i really really love my island.
there’s a couple areas that aren’t my most favorite, but that overall i still hold a place in my heart for every build, because i still put time and care into building them. (like my campsite area and playground areas are kinda meh to me, but that’s okay)
I have been missing animal crossing a little bit recently, and i feel like it’s time to do my last couple simple builds on my beaches, and then i can post my dream address and then i can start tearing stuff down and re-building my island
i keep seeing all this inspo the ACNH community posts on Tumblr and it’s making me really miss using Animal Crossing as a creative outlet

Dream Address Release for Evergreen: DA-4222-9690-9194 What is Evergreen?
Evergreen is a forestcore themed island. There will be no pathing, as it is set in the deep wilderness. It was designed with the idea of getting lost in the woods and wandering around, exploring.
Evergreen does NOT have any interiors.
I would absolutely love to see the pictures you take, so please tag me in them! My next island is an autumncore one, which I will be posting about at cinnamonspice-andeverything-nice.tumblr.com Without further ado, happy exploring!

i feel the same way about acnh! i don't really think it's lacking content. i've played most of ac games and i've learned that every once in a while i need to step away from it, just to pick it up again a few weeks later. new horizons is for sure different to all the previous games, but not in a worse way – it's just how animal crossing works. you play, you get bored, you stop playing for some time, then feel the urge to play like crazy again. it happens to me with new horizons and it happened to me with new leaf as well. and that's okay! it's still my favorite game ever. at least that's my opinion
I'm glad you agree and see what I mean! I feel like the "there's nothing to do when you've ____" (fill in the blank with paid off your loan, finish your town/museum, or even just played through a year) is one the most common things said about any Animal Crossing game, not just New Horizons.
I've gathered from people that New Leaf just had a massive impact and everyone loved the heck out of it and everything it added, the Main Street, the cafe and police station you could build, the island... So I think that's where the criticism comes from. I think the reason we didn't get these things is because of the desert island concept. You could tell Nintendo was really hyping that up, like every promo vid was a tent with the campsite cookware. I bet Nintendo has heard this criticism and that the next gen AC game if there is one, will go back to having a full-fledged AC cast and shopping district.
I enjoy the AC NPCs and all the things NL added, don't get me wrong... but it's also not really 100% why I play. I'm the sort of player who won't go in Kicks anymore when I have all the shoes, won't go in Harriets if I have my haircut down pat, won't go do minigames usually unless I'm playing with friends. But walking around my town and vibing out and enjoying what I've created? Seeing my villagers, and so on? That's what I focus on when I visit NL actually, and that's the maim appeal for me in any AC game. When I play WW I'm not lamenting all those things, I'm just enjoying the vibe of the town and making it my own and all that. I never even built the coffee shop in NL 👀
You can criticize that NH is only for decorators, but I feel like super long-term AC play is usually geared towards decorating anyways, even in old games. I remember in NL here in the tumblr community, it was the dream address feature that kept so many playing years after the game came out. People saw decorating and releasing themed/aesthetic towns as one of the long-term appeals back then as well, after exhausting the beginning game content.
I think NH would benefit from more of the quirky add-on content, NPCs, updates in general, and so on. Like I think multiplayer isn't nearly as fun as it should be without the minigames (we shouldn't have to create our own with the precedent NL set with the island and the fact that we pay to use the online service now), and I think we could use more furniture patches and more traveling NPCs at the plaza at the very least. But I'm not really mad at NH for not being NL because I can tell they were going for a new feel, and I'm not as mad about the other things as some because I guess it's not really why I play the game long-term anyways. But heck, as far as island decorating and patterms, I can do things I never could have dreamed of in NL or past games. In NL putting a few well-placed public works and foliage was about the extent of it, but it's just wild what you can do in NH now. The happiness I feel walking around my perfect Shire town or excitement at building an illusion castle or something more than makes up for not having those NPCs, shops, or gyroids. I'm not a NH dialog hater either really, I've found it fun and cute at times ans most of the time when I play NL and WW I see stuff I've already seen as well. It's finite in every game. They've actually added dialog in some of the updates, people say.
Anyway sorry for the long reply, I guess I have a lot of thoughts on this. And we're all valid in how we feel about the game, and I think it's human nature to want to share opinions and seek likeminded people. People who think NH is unfinished have a right to feel that way and to find others who feel the same, as do us.

I love visiting other people's island and taking alot of pictures and inspirations from it. With Dream Suite finally released in the latest version of ACNH, it's much easier to visit other people's island without having to worry about network barrier Give me your Dream Address and i will visit your island! Mine is DA-4157-5440-4959 (By the time i posted this, my island is still under renovation)

my main island map currently<33
a little insight since not a lot of people know the origin of my main islands name, i got my dad into ACNL and he named his town “Lodi” after one of our cats we used to have. he played ACNL very often up until he passed in 2018 (sadly he never got to see ACNH get announced / the news about it that followed). i decided that i would carry on his towns legacy and put my own spin on what he was trying to do. Gladys, Henry, and Drift were 3 of my Dad’s favorite villagers, so I had to include them<3 His character I made in honor of him, plus Henry, Gladys and Drift all live in the area on the top left of my island called “Mini Lodi”.
7 months of progress on this map (would be 8 but I reset shortly after the game released bc I had learned more about the mechanics), and while I’m not always pleased about how my island looks, I really really hope my dad likes the progress I made so far<3
I will try to update my dream address for this island soon! The current dream of Lodi does not match how this map looks.

100 days to acnh - 77 to 83
i am back from vacation and will resume doing this challenge! let’s catch up 6_<
77. Do you like coming up with your own town tune/flag, or using what the game gives you/something from a book/tv show/other game, etc? i... i use what other people create as freebies honestly... the community is so talented and there’s so much choice that i never bothered to work on it coughs. i may make a flag this time around? and since we have transparent patterns, maybe i’ll make my own to set some paths into my town so i’ll have some unique elements in the island! 78. Do you play every day, or every other day/when you feel like it/other? i played almost every day after release, but now i play by binges basically, coughs 79. Are you the kind of person who starts over after leaving their town for a really long time, or do you try to get right back to it?  i don’t really remember restarting a town for that reason? i only restart when i am bored of it or bothered by something ie layout or pwp placement 80. Do you remember how you got into the Animal Crossing series? during a sleepover, my friend lent me her games and wild world was among them, i knew nothing about animal crossing and i basically spent the night playing, ahah. i remember being so intrigued by how the furniture turns into leaves, and trying so hard to find villagers that were still awake... 81. Do you like to make up a story for the town/character when you play, or do you just play as yourself? playing as myself would be really boring to me somehow, but i don’t want to restrict myself too much before actually playing, so i’ll create a character with elements that i like aesthetically, and then start their adventure and sees what happens! i feel like i had fairly different personalities in mind for each player character i had for each game... my villagers also “develop” deeper personalities the same way, based on their physical attributes and the relationships they have with their neighbors etc 82. Favourite dream address / “theme” for a town (pastel, fairytale, forest, horror, etc)? i love love when everything is overgrown with clovers everywhere etc. i also love countryside towns with qr codes for fences and fields etc 83. Do you like to have your house fully upgraded/paid off, or do you like keeping it smaller/having fewer rooms? i think i always tried to expand everything, but tiny rooms ARE actually cute and maybe a good idea? hmmmM i will draw for the next ones, so we’ll leave it here! man i love these
