Promises and friends with insecurities

This scene was the culmination of their arcs in this season; their arcs, in some senses, had nothing to do with each other but everything about wanting each other and figuring out how this partnership was essential to each other. Another long one.

Under the table is their relationship, trying not to collapse under the burden of the table, the world, and their trauma. 

Sydney had started the season wanting to be a partner to Carmy and finding a partner with him; he was, for her, a vehicle/support to tackle the big wolf of her insecurities, thinking her failures were her own fault, her burden. She was tired of feeling alone and not enough to walk the path of hurt, trials, and disappointments that her life has been. Carmy was also tired of feeling alone, of feeling unlovable. He saw a way to heal that in Claire and took it. In the process, he disappointed Sydney in his lack of commitment to the restaurant (and her); both were jet to decipher the true feelings they hold for each other, a truth that was to be set in the background, simmer and simmer, and then explode.

The explosion for Sydney occurs inside; she realizes little by little how much Carmy reveals to Claire. The explosion for Carmy went the inside out, the panic attack scene showing him what he had suspected all along. He was forced to confront the fact that his bond with Claire, even if he had feelings for her, was not enough to push away his fears and trauma (this was not a secure attachment; it was never based on two people actually knowing each other, or healthily supporting each other). I LOVE Carmy's face in this scene btw; he is so happy to see her in his mind; the fucker is like, "Oh, there you are; wtf can you do this to me? But thank god you do"

Sydney experienced Carmy pushing her away more and more as the season advanced, all while Carmy grew in discomfort with his "relationship" with Claire. Carmy and Syd tried their ways to make the situation more bearable. Sydney tried to communicate her needs for support in this scary process of creating a restaurant (trying to ignore her feelings); Carmy, being a clautrofuck of emotions for getting what he wanted for so long, to still feeling shit about it, was terrified of losing Sydney and tried to create a menu "for her" instead of "with her." But they never reached each other truthfully, even after this point, because they were so afraid to lose that glimpse of security they provided each other that they never went to the core of their fears. (they abused the "I am sorry" sign, made assumptions, and held to reservations and resentment).

They are walking on shifting sands, uneven terrytiory=uneven table.

AND THEN, THE TABLE SCENE

The blocking of this scene is phenomenal. They changed positions when they were changing about subjects in the conversation. All while they are trying to fix an uneven table. It is uneven because neither of them knows where they truly stand as partners, and yet, the scene manages not to be about partnership, but about relasionship, and frienship.

In the beginning, when Carmy shares his "burden" for this season: his relationship with Claire, the fact that she is excellent, but he cannot separate his trauma from her, not knowing what even a secure attachment is. Carmy is lying on the ground, his being exposed and vulnerable, resting. Sydney is holding the table when he explains all this to her while he is fixing "his side" of the table, his trauma, and his mistakes that had damaged their harmony. He acknowledges it and promises his entire focus from now on. Sydney also takes a moment to recognize that whatever Carmy has with Claire is something that he needs at some level, regardless of how that makes her feel (helathy or not, she sees that at some level, he wants it). She is holding the other side of the table. She is preventing it from collapsing on him, like he is giving him a space to feel his feelings, regardless of the pressure they both endure, as she has done with her actions all season. 

This is not about why she is carrying the restaurant herself, and neither is a way to imply she had to do it in order to be a good friend, of course not, but that is not what this scene is about. I think the conclusion of service in Service in Friends and Family is a more appropriate conclusion for Carmy's absence, and a better "punishment" even if she has yet not expressed how abandoned she felt by him, and all the ways he failed her, and let his trauma handle his time and his partnership with Sydney like shit. They may not be ready to be able to talk about that, nor do they know how to fix it. The service scene served for him to understand how badly he was not around. Decorated with the fact Sydney was able to guide the kitchen relying on others, being the true leader the restaurant needed.

The table scene, for me, is not about resolving any of that, it is about promises. Promises to find answers and realizing what they provide for each other.

The table scene is about two friends talking about their insecurities.

She holds the table while he confesses something he has never said out loud to anybody. Sydney is providing Carmy in this scene something he has never had: "a person to trust, to understand and to understand him, a person to know everything about, a best friend," anybody that he tried to form this with has hurt him at some point, Mickey being the most painful example, whatever he has wit Nat, or even Richie, doesn't come close by miles, he still carries reservations around them. He seems to have tried to establish that with Claire, surprised at how empty it left him anyway.

But when Carmy says "say more," asking her to change positions, now she is the one underneath, fixing her side of the table, laying on the ground, vulnerable, while he holds the other side. She lays down her fears of her past failures collapsing on her all at once, all the reasons she has always suspected she is not good enough for this, and he is the one reassuring her, holding the other side of the table, preventing the world (the pressure/trauma) from collapsing on her, giving her a space to confess without judgment. He gives her exactly what she needs; not only is she good enough for this, but not only does he know the desire to help people that drives her, but if fear creeps in, whatever obstacle or failure they face, he will hold her, and "they" will work on it. All this, all the things he gets from her too, he sees her, understands her, believes in her, and promises to be there for her, a best friend.

If anything, regardless of the context of what they need to do this in the first place, particularly on Carmy's part, even if is only promises for the momment, the table scene is a beautiful description of a partnership: you are not on uneven territory anymore; I will be the ground you walk on, I will build you up, I will give you a space to feel your feellings.

The harmony is restored, the ground of trust is settled, the table (the world/the trauma) is not collapsing on anybody, they both are compromised on a goal: supporting each other, whatever that leads them. Whatever that will mean in the future, finding new boundaries, ways to complement and help each other, maturing emotionally. These feelings? I don't know how to deal with them, but I will stand beside you.

Most importantly, they both realized that this security they give each other...they want it; they only had an idea of what their partnership could be at the beginning of the season, and now it has been revealed to them, just a taste, enough to get their hearts...wanting for more.

Being able to be in a relationship with Mikan has been a difficult and slowly process because it take her a long time to accept that you don't hate her, let alone that you love her

Mikan has been abused so much in her entire life that for her you being kind to her is already like heaven, and being in a relationship with a person that she loves, someone who loves and care for her make her wanting to cry of happiness

Almost all your demonstrations of love make her heart skip a beat and bring tears of joy to her eyes, it doesn't matter if you express your love by words, actions or even both, her reaction will be pretty much the same for a long time

Just like it take her a long time to fully accept that you love her it will take her a long time to get used to how much you pamper her. She doesn't know how to react or respond to such demonstrations of love and she may think that you are trying to win something from her (to which she will respond that you don't have to, if you want something from her you just have to ask)

Mikan is so used to all kind of physical abuse that when you come and hold her so gently and sweetly, or even excitedly it startle her at first, but when she realice that you aren't going to hurt her she accept it and even start crying (and apologizing for crying)

She doesn't take really well the surprises, if touch her without warning her first she will scream in surprise and even ask to please don't hurt her, specially at the start of the relasionship or when she is too stressed. Once Mikan gets used to physical affection she loves the most when you pet her head or give her a little kisses, it doesn't make her too nervous or shy and gives her a silent reasurance that you love her

If you cuddle her it would take her a while to be able to stay still for how nervous she is of ruin it, as well as scare of touching you and get comfortable because she doesn't know if she should, but soon she will end up loving cuddle you, it makes her feel safe for the first time in her life

Compliments and praises make her super flustered, she was only praised when she does dirty stuff (like imitating animals), and normally doesn't go further than saying that she did a good job or that they aren't mad or hate her, but with you is a completely different story, complimenting her for her qualities and beauty and not because she did something for you is completely new for her, so any time you praise her she quickly becomes a blushing mess and start stuttering incomprehensible words (what lead her to apologize for being an embarrasing mess or at least that is what she says)

If you want to give her gifts you have to explain that you are giving something to her as a way of showing you love for her and not because is something you don't want anymore or is usless (she hasn't recived an actual gift and people just used to throw their trash to her), and not matter how much time it pass she never get fully used to receiving gifts

However, receiving gifts makes her feel obligate to reciprocate the gesture (specially if is something that she likes a lot), so she will immediatly tell you that if there something she could do for you in exchange you just have to ask, she is willing to do everything for you no matter what it is, it would take her a long time to get used to the idea that you do it out of love and not because you want something in exchange

As well giving her something related to medicine is a really good idea because she really likes that kind of things (she loves alcohol), however, you better don't gift her something too big because it scare her

Also, something that will make her feel flattered and special is that you actually heard her, in the past everyone just ignore her or react bad whenever she tries to express herself, so if you directly ask her for her opinion is surprising for her, the first time she will just respond really shyly and will even apologize for get carry away with the conversation but at the time pass and you continue insisting that you want to hear her opinion she will start to get used to it and will start to speak her mind more often (still pretty shyly)

As well making her feel wanted and needed is enough to make her happy, one of the mainly reasons she becomes a nurse is because she loves that others need her and rely on her (in a not abusive way) so if you rely on her, let her take care of you from time to time or even express directly that you are happy with her by your side it makes her immensely happy

For how much love you pamper her just because you love her and want to it would give Mikan the opportunity to start letting behind that idea of letting other people abuse her in order of not being alone and start thinking that maybe she actually deserve to be respected and can be forgiven without having to let them use her (although this is going to be a long process, but still this is a start)

However, in the other hand Mikan loves how you treat her and she is finally to feel safe and even happines for once in her life, so she will grow pretty clingy and dependent of you

I think people are too harsh on Ursa. Are we ignoring that she had a depression? That Ozai abused her as much as he abused Azula? And the ones who say she should have been a better mother to Azula, I don't think they understood their relasionship. Destiel-I had to immunize myself from their corruption I''ve been waiting the get the DVD set to end watch it cause I suck at trying to find it on TV but even now I only prefer them as friends. It's an pain to be into trueform fics among others with them constantly making them about destiel sure at first I ignored it.But it got so difficult when allmost every interesting idea involving castiel involved him snorting dean and yes it was originally snogging but it autocorrected to snorting but I thought well with some stuff I've seen it seems accurate.

I originally tried not to dis at an minor nitpick but it's so disconcerting where everytime castiel gets to stretch himself it seems like Dean keeps sexually harassing him.

the thing that draws us to sunny is the fact that these flawed, undesirable people have found eachother. we relate to these characters because we too are flawed. many people who watch the show have some form of mental illness and its nice to see representation. despite their mental illnesses they have friends and relationships with people, even though some of these relationships dont work out. even when the gang fails with their latest scheme they still have eachother.

mfhp was so important to many of us. it didnt stereotype and it showed the pain and struggle that most lgbt people go through. rob could have completely fucked it up but he listened to us, he sympathized. i thank him for this. rob knew how important it was to present us in this way. the dudebros may not have been happy but this episode wasn't for them.

the cast are amazing people who stand up for disadvantaged people such as many of us. they really care about us. they deserve so many awards and its a crime that they haven't been recognised. maybe thats the reason many of us love the show. its our little escape from the world. for a comedy show it has helped so many of us come to terms with ourselves. i started the show with low expectations and i fell in love with every character despite their flaws.

maybe rcg didnt intend for us to love the show so much. we relate to their characters; their actions and feelings. the show is a piece of art. i know im going too deep but its such an amazing show. 

dennis is someone who represses his feelings and he got taken advatage of as a kid which is probably why he has toxic realationships with women but in fact he has really big feelings and he cares for his sister and he had a kid, he was determined to raise it. charlie is illiterate, a survivor of sexual abuse but he's loving and would really do anything for his friends. mac didnt have the strongest relasionship with his parents, he's been repressing his feelings of being gay for so long but he cares and keeps people safe so they wont have to feel like he did. dee had to deal with her parents favouring her brother over her, she contstantly fought for attention but now she tries to make people laugh and she's a shoulder to lean on. frank was in a mental hospital as a kid, yeah he's done terrible things but he finally stuck around for his 'kids' he pays for their schemes and is really good to charlie who never knew who his father was.

what i really want to say is a show which hasn't been recognized is important to us. we feel like outcasts but we found this show and we didnt feel so alone anymore. thank you rcg.

Mario

Mario isn't embarrassed nor really shy by the relasionship, he may be flustered sometimes but has no problem with being honest when talking about your relationship and how much he loves you

Somehow Mario always end up involved in a lot of troubles, even when he got quite used to it that doesn't mean he doesn't feel at least a little bit stressed, as well he constantly worried about dragging your into all this troubles too, he hates that there is the posibility of something happening to you because of him (even if you were more than capable to protect yourself he is just really caring so is just normal for him to worry about you)

It isn't that Mario is extremely clingy so there are chances that you end up kidnapted when you weren't with him, but also can happen when you two were together (even when he will try his hardest to protect you if that happen), it doesn't matter how it happened the important is that is done and now he has to do something about it

Despite feeling incredibly worried and anxious Mario is aware that he need a plan before doing anything, and he is not quite sure from were to start so is more likely that he ask for help to Peach, Luigi and all his other friends (whoever is willing to help honestly)

Mario is trying really hard to concentrate but he isn't going to be able to do it at its fullest for a while, he is too worried and anxious and he won't be able to really calm down until he has a plan. He doesn't really understand why King Boo would kidnapt you nor how to find him, so, as much as it makes him feel frustrated he is depending a little more on Peach's help for this

At the very moment he has a plan and is ready he won't waste any more time and is already going to find you (probably along with your friends, he doesn't want to abuse of their kindness but won't say no to the help), he is even trying to push himself a little but the simple fact that he is already in his way it help him feel more at ease

Once he came to the castle of King Boo Mario feels like he can take it a little bit more slowly but still that doesn't mean he doesn't go around determinated to save you and ready to fight

Even when he finds you he doesn't want to let his guard down right away since he would prefer to take you somewhere safe before relaxing (what is a little bit dificult when he wants to just hold you close out of relief). Once he knows you two are out of danger he will express how worried he was, to apologize and saying how much he loves you, all while going between checking that you are safe and hugging you

Despite being incredibly worried Mario prefers to put your comfort first, he does calm down and get comforted by watching you feeling at ease, still he will try to stick with you for a while to calm down his anxiety (he doesn't say out loud how much this have affected him but you can notice by how clingy he become for a while)

Peach

Peach its not the type to get shy or hide the love she has for her partner, she has no problem with telling the world how much she loves you, however she does know that there are threatens that can try to harm you because of your relasionship so she tries to be cautious, being ready if something ever happen and even letting you know about them (but always promising that she will be there to help you)

The moment that you didn't showed up she already have a bad feeling, but if it happened in front of her eyes then she will feel even more frustrated since she wasn't able to do anything to prevent. At the end, not matter how it happened the frustration and anger she feels when she get to know you have been kidnapted quickly became a great determination to recue you

Actually, Peach has to be stopped by others before she imediatly goes to search for you, she is quite emotional and can't help but want to do something to recue you imediatly, still it doesn't take her much time to understand that, first of all she needs a plan

She will have no problem to accept the help of her friends with this, but first ask if they are sure about it and will make sure to say a million of thanks. Peach will deeply think on a plan and trying to understand why King Boo will want to kidnapt you (she thought it would be more likely to be Bowser, and probably just assumed that he is involved too)

Peach is imediatly going in her way the moment she knows she (and her companions) is ready, not wasting any time before already putting her plan in motion, she is even willing to step into battle herself if is need it, honestly Peach has been trying her hardest to keep her mind busy on the plan of recue to don't let her anxious and worry bother her, she will have time to deal with all of that once she has you by her side again

Peach is a little troubled by her mixed emotions, for one part she wants to force King Boo to say his reasoning behind his actions while in the other she just want to get over it to be able to run to your side, but she knows that she won't feel at ease if she doesn't get to know the reason so she tries to find out why he has kidnapted you

Once Peach sees you again she will get all emotional again, only stoping if she haven't finished the threats already, but once it is safe she will imediatly run to your side, hugging you as if her life depends on it and finally leaving her emotions flow, saying how worried and even scare she was for you, her mixed feelings are quickly surpress for the relief and the anxiety she can finally let go of

Peach will need to have a lot of quality time with you to help her racing heart, she just want to relax and enjoy your company, as well she need to make sure to bring you the comfort you probably need after that traumatic experience. It won't take her much before she feels at ease again but that doesn't mean she won't take care of what happened

Oh and the reason i hate the writers and always had a hard time trusting robert even in their relasionship was the fact that they didnt explain their affair era really well. They didnt revisit it. The lodge scenes, the hate, the manipulation and verbal abuse. You want to make them a couple? Great everything is possible. But do a better job with the narrative. Explain, give us an insight, a real POV of the past Robert

i don’t necessarily have a problem with the writing in that sense tbh anon but oh my god i literally…. live for the very few call backs to the affair era that we’ve had. I know it was kind of a shitty time for them both, all told, and I imagine the writers don’t really want to dwell on the darker aspects of their storyline, I guess, but

On October 25, 2016, Granicus merged with GovDelivery. This came at the cost and deceit of their employees and their clients as CEOs and board members, who among them includes former governor of Louisiana Bobby Jindal. These higher uppers dealt one of the most massive manipulations of capital assets in the history of government contracting.

Since the inception of GovLoop by Steve Ressler and Andrew Krzmarzick, this company has shown no known success to its clients, as years of corporate mergers with GovDelivery and then Granicus presented nefarious consequences for both private and government sectors. 

Ressler and Krzmarzick had a long friendship and sane collaboration. However, at the time of merging with other companies, the disparities and misunderstandings showed a troubled leadership. Upon Krzmarzick public resignation, Ressler vowed to maintain a loud and proud company. Yet, his treasonous actions to his employees and to his relasionship with Krzmarzick lead to the merging with the corrupt Granicus.

During Krzmarzick’s departure, GovLoop managed the Healthcare.gov interface to a neglecting extend. One day in 2016, a unidentified individual came to the offices of then GovLoop east offices in Washington, DC and threatened personnel about the failures of the site. Today, ACA is under high political scrutiny, which got worse at the time of the merger with Granicus. Also, Granicus is still charging obscene amounts of money to the government. This ends up being payed by you: the taxpayer.

Nextgen, which was a longstanding commitment to young government leadership and a landmark of GovLoop, became the propaganda machine for Ressler. His cringeworthy speeches perfectly became talking point among the leadership at GovDelivery, who warned Ressler about his future downfall of his crumbling company.

Blue Campaign was meant to become the new staple of government training. Except it wasn’t. After three years of corporate deliberations with the Department of Homeland Security and GovDelivery’s Laura Bowen, contracts were not met and neglected. When Granicus merged GovLoop, the company single-handedly altered these contracts so it will continue to generate revenue with no work being actually done. This ends up being payed by you: the taxpayer. Nevertheless, Granicus is currently being investigated by government agencies after allegations of fraud. Furthermore, employees have mentioned that Blue Campaign cost the jobs of 70 people in offices in Washington, DC, and Saint Paul, MN. Laura Bowen, a Trump sympathizer, resigned from Granicus after manipulating the the contracts during the merger.

During a meeting in Denver in mid-2017, where the offices of Granicus are located, leadership decided not to register the company in Washington in order to avoid legal repercussions from the local Federal district court. Employees in Washington have been rescinded from their benefits with no legal ground to fight against. Employees in Saint Paul, MN have expressed concerns on over-hiring in the sales department with very poor salaries. This is the same case of the closure of Granicus offices in San Francisco, where the entire personnel was fired.

Granicus admits that is a tech company. However, the company alleges to have Salesforce as its main competitor. Salesforce is also another corporation that presents the same case as Granicus but that’s a story for another day.

Employees at Granicus in Washington have mentioned that 100 personnel either resigned, or were fired.

Employees at Granicus in Denver have mentioned that the company directed to human resources to hold off from firing 80 personnel during the government shutdown in mid-January 2018. By maintaining active personnel, the company was able to continue profiting from the government, as employees represent contractually a higher reimbursement asset to claim to the Federal government. This ends up being payed by you: the taxpayer. Also, the 80 employees will still be fired later in March.

Employees at Granicus have been mentioning that after the merger, company culture has become stagnant and hindering. The relationship among the three locations at Saint Paul, MN, Denver, CO, and Washington has been extremely difficult. Employees at Washington also have mentioned that there is a hostile environment. During one occasion in late December 2017, leadership and management have been seen drinking and belligerently chanting quotes from the film “The Wolf of Wall Street,” who among were Stever Ressler. This ultimately reflects the purposes of the company: to abuse corporate power, to diminish the integrity of its employees, and to fraudulently make deals with the local, state, and federal governments. And as mentioned before, this ends up being payed by you: the taxpayer.

If those “young girls” don’t realize that, then they shouldn’t read the fucking book. How stupid do you have to be to take an example from a book??I understand books inspire us but if in one book someone jumps off a bridge, are you going to do that too?? Just because “it was in a book”??? There is a huge difference between real life and fiction. And if you have read the book, as you claimed, you should remember the time Tessa asked Harry if he heard about abusive relationships and he was socked she found him abusive. He had no idea what an ‘abusive relationship’ is. He never had anyone to love. Tessa was the first person who he actually loved. He just did what he saw his parents doing. We all look up to our parents and so did he. The fact that his family was fucked up, is not his fault. In the same chapter, Harry reminds Tessa that he called her names which means he is still so sorry about it and it’s still in his subconscious. He didn’t mean to call her names, but he’s never been taught how to act when he’s angry.  And let’s look at this the other way around. Harry is a boy with an abusive and alcoholic father and because of him, Harry’s mother got raped while 7 year old Harry was watching and cleaned her bruises. He had nightmares which reminded him of that night every single day. He never had the chance to be a boy. But in time, he found himself. He graduated and wrote a book about their relationship. He lost Tessa on the way, but it was for the best because they meet again after a few years and he’s completely changed. How many people who are like that are out there? I can already think of someone and I’m sure there is this person in everyone’s life, whether you realize it or not. For people like that, this book shows them that no matter how bad a situation got, there is always a way out, even if it takes some time.
