Reborn Rich
Tumblr media
This Korean drama is based on the webtoon. I haven't read the webtoon, yet but I definitely will. I liked the series because it kept me wanting to see what would happen next. Yoo Hyeon Woo had been a faithful employee to the Soonyang owners who were fighting for the management rights over the empire. He doesn't like the people he works for, he doesn't respect them but he does what needs to be done in order to hold on to his job; until he goes on a business trip where he is to meet his death.
But he is not dead, he is now living in the body of the Jin Do Joon who had died 20 years before. The youngest grandson of the legendary Jin Yang Cheol who had created the Soonyang empire. It is through the relationship between grandfather and grandson that Yoo Hyeon Woo tries to mend the situation in his previous life by making sure Jin Yang Cheol's children and grandchildren don't get the management rights over the company.
The twist and turns in this story kept my interest. The relationship between Jin Do Joon with his grandfather and his investing partner were fun to watch. It is sad to watch how children and grandchildren watch the patriarch like vultures waiting for him to die so they can get their hands on the company. It really felt like Jin Do Joon was the only one who truly loved his grandfather.
It is interesting to see how all those experiences Yoo Hyeon Woo lived in this paralleled reality was connected to what he had lived in his first life - as Yoo Hyeon Woo would call it. I don't want to say more because this story is best to watch without knowing much. But I will say that I liked the fact that these are very gray characters and that I liked the main characters with all their imperfections.
This is a really good series. I recommend it. Can't wait to read the webtoon!

Reborn Rich the final episode
What an ending.
It's so bittersweet but I love it. Maybe it's my obsession with Jin Do Jun, but if you follow the actual chronology of things - Do Jun was reborn as Hyun Woo first. Because he died first. And if fate cannot be changed then he was meant to recover his memories as Jin Do Jun, which had alread been burried within him. Even before Hyun Woo "died" (for a week), it was meant to happen. So who is really who at the end? As Hyun Woo called it, you could think of it as repentance, but for me personally, Do Jun existed in Hyun Woo long before Hyun Woo got "reborn" as Do Jun.
All that being said, I do have some very smaaaaaall issues with the ending.
First, it felt rushed. Honestly the last 3 episodes or so felt really rushed compared to the rest of the drama's pace. Everything that needed to happen still happened, but it was just.... I don't wanna say half-baked but.....
Second, Hyun Woo got shot straight in the head point blank. You're telling me he miraculously survived that? Sure there are some miracles that happene even in real life, but it's a patter I hate with tv shows, nto just kdrama. At the very least, he would've needed years to recover. Although, if I really want to defend it, I could say the years he spent as Do Jun somehow changed Hyun Woo's brain's perception of time which afforded him just enough time to recover. Still, between Do Jun's and Hyun Woo's death, Do Jun would've had a much higher survival rate than Hyun Woo. Sure, Do Jun's car got slammed pretty hard, but it's not comparable to getting shot at point blank IN THE FREAKING HEAD, now is it? :/
Also I would've loved to see the actual process of Mr. Oh Se Hyun working with Do Jun's mother, instead of just hearing about all the things they're gonna do..... but we don't get to see them.
Jin Sung Jun's character deserved more too. Sure he was greedy, but he was not guilty of ordering Do Jun's murder. Both times he was innocent. He knew everyone would've suspected him, which is was exactly what his father wanted. It's the reason why he got the company in the first place. Sung Jun deserves some justice too. I feel like it would've been that more epic if the show had gone back to the conversation between Hyun Woo and Sung Jun from episode 1 and committed to the bond that was forming. Imagine if we had Hyun Woo and Sung Jun working together in the final episodes. Hyun Woo gets to finish Do Jun's deed and Sung Jun finally has a change of heart and pays tribute to his grandfather and runs the company with the same heart his grandfather had.
On a more positive note (says anticupid), Hyun Woo did not end up in a relationship with Min Young! Which makes logical sense, for once. I'm not saying I'm happy that they didn't get together, I'm saying it happened for the right reasons. But I'm sure most of the ship's fans will be satisfied that she seemed to recognize Do Jun in Hyun Woo in the end. One could imagine they did end up meeting up and like.... making babies. Idk.
I liked the future Min Young a lot more. Although for her to become the Soonyang Grim Reapper and wear only black because she was mourning for Do Jun, I really would have loved to see more of their relationship developing at least? As it was all based on only a few times they talked? Briefly? But I guess human emotiones are unpredictable, so it's possible. Anyways, there's that.
A little sad the endings of the rest of the characters were rushed by too, but I didn't see anything that made me think "hmm this doesn't make sense". Honestly, is there not going to be a season 2? Now I'm kinda disappointed, because I wish we had spent more time with how the other characters' life continued. As well as more to see of Do Jun with his family. But I get it, it was never the focus of the show.
All my other thoughts about this drama flew out the window.
I can say it was a lovely experience. I enjoyed this so much despite constantly finding something to nag about. I loved following Jin Do Jun's life, and that particular era in South Korea's history. The real footage they used. I loved Jin Yang Cheol's character, I loved Lee Sung Min's acting (as well as Joong Ki's, always).
It made me cry a couple of times and any drama that invokes real emotion in me keeps a spot in my heart. Especially when Ha In Seok went to testify and thought Hyun Woo was Do Jun (was he wrong though?) and wanted to protect him. The unspoken hero of this show. It was a fantastic story, even if we look at it only from Do Jun's perspective, it makes for an amazing story. Had Hyun Woo not even been a part of this drama, I would've still loved just watching Do Jun and his grandpa. Hyun Woo's growth at the end was the bonus for me. I get to exprience something which unlocked his cage and his heart. The boy who grew up in poverty and had many hardships because of it, the boy who willingly walked into a cage because of his trauma caused by poverty. He put his emotions aside, thinking that money was more important than them. Finally, he was freed from it all.
With a new look on life, a new heart and a new dream, he was able to leave all of his hurt behind and live in a way that not only fits him better, as a human, but also a life that Do Jun would be proud to see him live.
Ugh. I'm gonna miss Do Jun's smile though. I know Joong Ki plays both, but that smile is now Do Jun's until the day I die and there's no changing my mind.
Alright, time to go cry in a dark corner. I love-hate this ending.

My guess? Young Ki is responsible for the accident and Sung Jun knows about it. Do Joon will eventually be out of the picture and Young Ki is going to get the CEO position in the end, so we will have to wait for the board meeting to see how that will happen.
I am not ready to see the downfall of Jin Yang Cheol. By downfall I mean going from a strong and imposing business man to a frail and weak old man. Nothing wrong with that, it's life and he has serious health issues, but looking at the preview and seeing him showing signs of dementia is truly heartbreaking (LEE SUNG MIN WITH HIS GENIUS ACTING).
I know he is not the best man around but the show really made us actually care for him a bit. All in all he is the antagonist of the show, but not really. He is an emperor who built his empire from scratch and wants someone to understand that. To understand the struggles he went through and what it takes to mantain that empire. Unfortunately, his first son and grandson can't grasp that idea, the second son only wants affection but does not have what it takes to take over, his only daugther is automatically out of the race and his fourth son was practically disowned. However, his youngest grandson does get it and their interactions are getting increasingly precious, even after knowing how ruthless JYC can be.

ALWAYS & FOREVER
A Yoon Jeonghan fanfiction.
Word count: 1481
Warnings: Tragic (historical/medieval) love story.I tried. Fast paced. Kinda cliche but I enjoyed writing this so wtvr. Angsty?. Just tragic af. Not the happiest ending hehe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a soon to be queen, you had rules to follow. You were expected to do a lot things even if they weren't wirtten down as rules. One of them was for you to marry another prince. Another person brought up in royalty who would be fit to rule alongside you.
If only you hadn't fallen in love with the guard assigned to protect you, your actual knight in shining armour, Yoon Jeonghan.
Your father wasn't very fond of you going against the unspoken rule. He wanted you to marry someone strong, who could handle the kingdom well. He should've known before letting you spend your childhood alongside JeongHan. He was always with you, it was bound to happen but he wouldn't just sit back and watch his daughter marry a mere gaurd while he was alive and breathing.
A fight was set to happen. Against the prince of the strongest kingdom, Choi seungcheol. Who your father wanted you to marry and him, your one true love Yoon JeongHan.
The fight was going to be a brutal one since there were no rules, no restriction. Just a sword and the two fighters. "Whoever wins, will marry my daughter" was announced by your father that day.
You were worried. Very worried. It wasn't that Jeonghan wasn't strong, he had been trained to fight his whole life but the reason was that Choi Seungcheol was from the strongest kingdom ever known. He had never lost in a fight. He was bigger than Jeonghan and even though Jeonghan had trained since he was 15 in sword fight, he had hardly been in actual fights as he had been given the duty to be with you every single second to make sure of your safety.
--
"Don't worry princess, I'm right here. Behind you always incase you fall"
"Take my hand princess, I'll guide you"
"I have given my whole life for your protection princess, what else is a greater love confession than this, hmm?
"Oh please, you won't even be able to spend a minute without me being by your side princess, accept it already!"
"You know how you love the moon princess? I love the stars."
"Oh? Why is that" you asked.
"Because no matter the situation, stars will always accompany the moon. Making the night sky prettier." He smiled at you.
He wasn't something you wanted. He was something you needed. In your life full of expectations, judgement and prying eyes. You could always be yourself around him. He was a gift, The stars to your moon. Oh, how much you loved him.
You would gladly run away from the world for him but you knew Jeonghan would want you to fight with your head up. So, when your dad asked for the fight, even though you were scared you knew being JeongHan's support was your first priority.
--
He had spent the past 5 days practicing. Just practicing. You had accompanied him through those days just sitting there in the room with him as if silently telling him that you're there, always there for him too. You knew he felt it. He always did.
There was just another day left before the fight. This day was different tho, he had asked you to come with him not telling you anything. As you hopped off your horses you realised the familiar plains you were looking at. Jeonghan's home.
Whenever you two wanted an escape from the royalty, you'd come to the outskirts of your kingdom where his mother lived. She had already accepted you as her daughter in law. She was always there for, from the young age of 17, when JeongHan first took you to meet her. She was more like your mother to you than your own mother who just blindly followed your father's orders.
"Oh my, where were you for so long! Do you know how much I've missed you?" She pulled you in a motherly hug. It was as if all your worries and tension from the past few days vanished. "Mom, I'm your son and you still hug her first, not fair"
"Oh stop being jealous, come here" you giggled as Jeonghan's arms squished both you and his mother further into a group hug.
"Come, I'll make you your favourite food" she took you inside. She denied to live in a better place saying she was too old for anything else and this was enough for her. Even though this house wasn't in the best of condition, it was still as comforting as you remember.
After sharing a delicious meal, Jeonghan was too tired to do anything and went to sleep on a soft mattress which was layed down for you, whenever you'd come over. As you sat outside for some fresh air, his mother joined you. There was a comforting silence between you too until you decided to break it. "I'm scared mom, the fight is tomorrow and- " you had to take a breath to not break down right in front of her. "And I don't want to lose him" You said as she crushed you in another hug.
"Oh my sweet child" she rubbed your back as she continued to hug you. "I am sure seeing you cry is going to break his heart sweetheart, right now you need to be there for him. Show him you love him and I'm sure whatever happens, true love will always find a way."
"Now go sleep, you need it too"
You slept on the mattress layed beside jeonghan. Sensing your presence, he pulled you closer by the waist until your back was completely pressed to his body. "I love you, never forget it princess" he kissed the back of your neck. Even his unconscious brain never failed to express his love for you.
--
The next day, you reached the kingdom with heavy hearts filled with uncertainty. This fight wouldn't be easy. As time passed by people started to gather to see the big fight. The whole kingdom was there to see the fight for your love. As the bell rung, It signalled for the fight to start.
As there were no rules, the fight could go however pleased and that's what worried you the most. Both JeongHan and seungcheol were strong it was obvious with how both were blocking each other's attacks without much of a scratch. But the longer it went the more you heart ached for Jeonghan.
The fight was going tight as both of them kept blocking each other's attack. Until suddenly, seungcheol kicked Jeonghan in his stomach causing him to drop on his back due to the sudden attack. For a normal sword fight, only sword attacks are allowed which is why Jeonghan was taken aback. Seungcheol's sword now pointing directly towards Jeonghan's heart. "NOO" you yelled as seungcheol pushed that sword in slowly as Jeonghan whimpered in pain.
There was no way you'd sit back and watch your lover die. You took out your own knife you used to keep in your boots in case of emergencies and you ran towards seungcheol. You stabbed seungcheol in the neck successfully, his instincts kicking in as he took the sword out of Jeonghan, flicking it as your direction and successful stabbing you in your upper abdomen. "Oh no no no no, why would you do that" seunghceol said furious at you for running in like that. If he had seen it was you he wouldn't have stabbed you.
Your dad just sat there watching all of this break down without even a slight eyebrow Twitch at seeing his daughter fall down besides her lover, slowly losing blood. You could hear the people's shout of worry fading as your blood was losing quickly. Jeonghan layed right besides you, holding his chest with his arm as he slightly wriggled himself closer to your ear.
"I'm so sorry Jeonghan, I'm so sorry" was what you could mutter out in guilt as you blamed yourself for being born in royalty for having a heartless dad who didn't care about his daughter. "No- no princess, I would gladly fight for you anyday"
"Jeonghan, I love you so much." You said while sobbing in his neck.
He took all his strength left as he wrapped his arms around you, pulling you closer as he said.
"If the earth doesn't allow it princess, I'll love you in heaven"
--
Maybe true love is spending all your life with that someone. Maybe true love is fighting for you lover until your last breath. Maybe ture love is taking your last breath with each other, even if that means it's the end because in the end true love always finds a way to win.
That night your love won. In the nightly dim sky as your bodies were burried together, The shining full moon with the brightest star seen besides it, was enough proof of it.

MiTD Fic: run-of-the-mill
Summary:
"Are you all right?" he asks, his heart bright with worry. Worry? Why would I-- And then this girl smiles at him, and his world turns upside down. Finally, he thinks again. Finally, I found you.   or   a snippet of Kim Do Ha and Han Ri Ta's new life.
Notes:
I've always known I'm going to write a peak into Do Ha and Ri Ta's life because I WANTED TO SEE IT, SO I WROTE IT MYSELF
ao3 link!
--
Finally, his first thought was, the moment he sees her standing by the temple. Finally. Do Ha can't understand it, himself. All he remembers was seeing this girl wearing a school jacket of some sort, taking pictures left and right. As if his feet had a mind of their own, he finds himself moving towards her, closer and closer, until-- --he saves her from taking an unnecessary tumble down the stairs. "Are you all right?" he asks, his heart bright with worry. Worry? Why would-- And then this girl smiles at him, and his world turns upside down. Finally, he thinks again. Finally, I found you.
--
Somehow he finds it difficult to let go of her - even if it was time for his class to depart the temples. I should stay, he thinks, staring at her mouth. I should--  "Ya, Kim Do Ha," his friend Jang Yoon Je says, clapping his shoulder from behind them. "What are you doing? The teacher's been looking for you. It's time to bounce." "I should go," she says, giving Yoon Je a curious glance before focusing on Do Ha again. "It was nice meeting you. And... thank you again for saving my life." And she gave him a soft smile that made his heart lurch. Somehow, watching her walk away was the hardest thing he had to do that day. "Who's that?" Yoon Je curiously asks, looking from him to the figure of the departing girl. "Your friend?"  "Someone," Do Ha says, glancing at Yoon Je, "that I'm going to marry." A beat. "Well, that's really sudden," his friend comments, crossing his arms. "You've never really shown any interest in any girl in our school - even Jung Yi-Seul, the most popular girl in campus - and now you're saying you're going to marry a girl you just met?" Do Ha shrugs, shoves his hands in his pockets, and turns to go the opposite way. It was hard to explain what, exactly, he was feeling. Just that he's filled with a certainty he's never felt before. Like his life has been missing a puzzle piece this entire time, and now that he's found her-- "Well, does your girl have a name?" Yoon Je asks, catching up to Do Ha. A beat. And then Do Ha turns to him in horror. ...shit.
--
Han Ri Ta. He finds out a few days later, just as an online article comes out about the winner of a local school photography contest - with her picture on top of it. Her entry shows a picture of the moon in the sky, clear as day, even if the sun was brighter than it. She called it Moon In the Day, Yearning for Night. Do Ha smiles, feeling as though another of his life pieces has neatly slid into place. Han Ri Ta.
--
He finds himself standing in front of her school, waiting for-- "Can I help you?" someone asks from behind him.  And Do Ha turns, coming face to face with-- --Han Ri Ta. "Oh!" she says, covering her mouth with both her hands. "It's you!" "You remember me?" Do Ha asks cautiously. She laughs, making his heart feel light. "Of course! I can't ever forget the face of the guy who saved me from a fall, after all. I owe you my life, Sir." "Have you been careful?" he says. "Like I told you to be?" She grins. "You'll be glad to know that I have had zero near-death experience since I saw you last." "That's good," Do Ha replies, breathing a sigh of relief. "I'd hate if anything were to happen to you." Live. Please live, Han Ri Ta. I beg you. And a slightly awkward moment passes between them."So," she says, glancing around them. "Are you waiting around for someone?" Do Ha blinks at her. "I--" "I know almost everyone in our school," Ri Ta adds, beaming up at him. "Maybe I can help you find them." Another beat. And Do Ha finds himself clearing his throat. "I was... hoping I'd run into you." She raises a brow at that. "You were?" --shit. "The, uh, picture you took," Do Ha continues. "About the moon in the day? I thought it was really beautiful. I wanted to talk about it." He pauses and says softly, "You're really talented, Han Ri Ta." And her name slides out of his mouth like a blessing. She cocks her head to one side, just studying him - and Do Ha feels as though he's done Something Wrong. Which is ridiculous, of course. He's been known all his life as Mr. Perfect-at-Everything. Even if he'd tried, he wouldn't be able to take any missteps.  Except now, it feels like. Except in front of her. "That's unfair," she finally speaks, crossing her arms. "It seems you already know my name, but I have yet to know yours." Oh. Right. "Kim Do Ha," he says, breathing easily now. Ri Ta smiles again.  "Kim Do Ha," she repeats. "That's great. At least now I don't have to call you Sir when I think of you." And Do Ha blinks at her. "You think of me?" he asks, point-blank. And her face turns bright red. "O-Oh, well," she sputters, "it's not often that I get saved, so." Another awkward moment passes between them. But, again, she cuts that moment short when she brightly asks him, "Would you like to have some coffee?"
--
And that moment leads to the next, and the next, and the next. And now--
--
They're in their third month of dating. Do Ha has his head on her lap, feeling as peaceful as ever. She's humming a soft song as she slides her fingers through his hair, and this, this, to him feels like home.
"Don't you find it strange?" Ri Ta asks. Do Ha opens his eyes to look up at her inquiringly. "I mean-- everything that's happened between us," she continues. "It feels... I don't know. Too easy?" "Would you prefer it if things between us were complicated?" he asks carefully.   She shrugs. "It's just... something we took up in history class," Ri Ta says. "About a Silla General who took a wife from Gaya. She ended up murdering him and her father, you know, before taking her own life."  Do Ha closes his eyes. "She must have a pretty good reason to do it." "I guess," she says, running her finger across his brow. "I just keep thinking about how their lives were back then. Having an enemy by your side as your spouse. And it's just--" She pauses. Do Ha waits. "Do you think they loved each other?" Ri Ta continues. "Even if they were enemies?" Yes. Yes. A thousand times, yes. "What do you think?" he asks her back. She sighs. "Would it be weird," she replies, "if I told you I feel happy when I think of them?" Do Ha looks at her again. "I mean, that we don't live like them now," Ri Ta explains, smiling at him. "That we're no Silla General and Gaya Royalty. That you're you, and I'm me. That we're--" "--ordinary?" he adds. Ri Ta pauses, then quickly bends down to kiss his lips. "Exactly," she says. "I love that we're ordinary now." And Do Ha gently cradles the back of her head and pulls it down, just so he can claim her mouth again. Slowly. Thoroughly. I do, too.

Reborn Rich episode 10 ✔️
This is my longest one yet.
I started this episode already frustrated, because I know where we left off in the previous one. If read my post about episode 9, you know how I feel about Seo Min Young’s character and why. The beginning of this episode was hard to watch for me.
You may be thinking “But she came to help Do Jun”, but for me he didn’t. Do Jun helped himself by convincing the secretary to turn against Hwa Young and save herself. Before that Min Young was full on investigating him and Miracle Investments. Which I understand is her job as a prosecutor, but she only started this investigation against him because she thought he lied to her, which hurt her since she has feelings for him, which is not professional at all. If Do Jun hadn’t given her the tip about Hwa Young, she wouldn’t have even gotten that far. However, I almost liked that she at least tried to stand her ground and insist on seeing through the investigation against Hwa Young. I thought, maybe the conflict that formed with her senior will help the character take a better shape, for me. Maybe from this point on she takes on her career as a single point of focus instead of being all over the place. Yet again, I was disappointed when she called up Do Jun to cry about it. Somehow now it’s his fault that she couldn’t carry out the investigation. He did enough just by giving her the tip, from then on, she had the ball. It’s not her fault that her boss is a jerkface, but it’s not Do Jun’s fault either. He could care less about whether Hwa Young actually goes to prison or not. He just wanted her shares.
Over all my impression of her character didn’t really improve for me this episode either. Her lines in the restaurant didn’t make sense to me. Her personality between prosecutor and a girl that’s in love feel disconnected from one another, as if they tried to combine two characters into one. I don’t understand why Do Jun is attracted to her, other than they met for two minutes in his previous life. I wish they had given us a better reason or shown us a stronger connection between the two. The “grab her wrist and run together” moment is also so cheesy and recycled. I wish dramas would stop doing that in general. Surely you can come up with a better way to create an exciting and memorable moment. And the kiss. And the date. Which I will not discuss. Maybe I’m really just a broken person and I understand nothing when it comes to romance (not to be confused with relationships). But enough about this. I don’t know why it gets me so fired up.
What I really like is the idea they put forward with Min Young having to go against Do Jun after all, because she’s forced to. Or something similar to it. The kind of dynamic in a relationship I want to see in kdramas is a love/hate one, with intense chemistry between them. That’s not what we’re currently getting, but it made me think that it would’ve been sooooo much more exciting and entertaining if Min Young and Do Jun had that kind of relationship. A dynamic where they’re natural enemies, who feel strong s*xual attraction between them, but their pride doesn’t let them admit it, so they continue a cat and mouse game.
Next, I should’ve talked about this early, or maybe I shouldn’t at all because with Lee Sung Min’s impressive filmography it shouldn’t be a surprise, but his acting is so, so good. He makes the chairman’s role so exciting and interesting to me. He makes it feel like a real person. Even though the show never showed us Jin Yang Cheol’s process of creating Soonyang, suffering while growing it and all the sacrifices he made, we do get plenty of hints of it. What Lee Sung Min does best is make us feel like we actually saw all of it, like we were with the chairman every step on his journey to where he is now. I get an incredible feeling of admiration every time he’s in a scene.
A precious scene was when Jin Yang Cheol called Do Jun “this innocent kid…, my own grandson…”. We don’t see it often, but every time the chairman shows some kind of sentiment towards Do Jun, it warms my heart in a weird, remony way.
I’m very interested in the fact that Jin Dong Ki is interested in numerology and believes in it. I’m not surprised by the fact that numerology is involved, because it’s not uncommon for East Asian countries, but rather I’m surprised that they’ve decided to add it to his personality. And so late in the show, at that. But it does give some more spice to the character and it makes it feel a bit more complete. I wonder if it’s to underline the idea that fate is one and you can’t escape it, if anyone disrupts it karma gets involved? Since Do Jun is living a second life, which takes place in the same timeline as Hyun Woo, you could argue he’s rewriting history. However, no matter what he’s done as Do Jun that didn’t exist in his timeline as Hyun Woo, the results remain more or less the same as when he was Hyun Woo. Or at least they have so far. We do still have to see the actual ending to know if this theory is correct though. Also, at the end of the episode he remembers that he was the real Do Jun before Hyun Woo, who died. So, is this a reincarnation cycle? He was Do Jun first, then Hyun Woo, then Do Jun again? A bit confusing, but very interesting. Can’t wait for the next episode.
After Dong Ki’s breakdown scene, I’m finally able to understand his three kids (from his wife) as separate entities, not a horde of greedy villains. This was always lurking somewhere in the back of my mind, but it couldn’t form into a ripe thought. The greedy one, it’s Hwa Young. As an only daughter she was spoiled and never grew up, or only grew up to want more. She’s fighting for money that she never learned how to earn. Dong Ki is fighting for his father’s love still, at this age. He’s been working hard to prove himself and get his father’s approval, and most importantly – attention. Things he’s never had as a middle child. In his mind he was always overshadowed by either the oldest (the successor) or the youngest (the precious). Young Ki is fighting for his son, to give him what he couldn’t have. Both his father’s love and attention, and Soonyang Group. Jin Yang Cheol’s favorite child however, is Soonyang. Not because he’s greedy, but because it’s his life and pride. He wishes at least one of his kids would recognize and share his sentiment, which just doesn’t happen. This realization made that breakdown scene very emotional for me.
The scene where Do Jun removed Soonyang Department Store’s tag from the Soonyang Group tree and put it under Miracle Investments on the white board was so good. It felt like a chess move. Which I guess it was, only, in business terms. Speaking of Soonyang, someone pointed out to me today that there’s a “nyang” in Soonyang and that’s what Koreans use for “meow”.
They called it Soomeow Group and I got their permission to steal it.
