this is subject to change since there's still more issues to come, but the impression i get from Dark Crisis YJ so far is that the writer read like. MAYBE the first dozen issues of 90s YJ and then flipped through the rest of it, a few Flashfam comics from around then, a COUPLE Superboy issues, and then didn't even LOOK at the 90s Impulse solo. and it's lowkey infuriating but also i'm entirely unsurprised ahjsfdjhasdf

at this point this is the impression I get from way too many comic writers lol, the thing is that I LOVE exploring team dynamics so much but I understand that it would be a little harder to cover each and every scope of all the characters but like, thats kind of the point of being the writer? And u can only really encapsulate all the dynamics if u also understand the characters background too.

that being said I think its a big thing in comics especially DC (considering thats the circle im more familiar with) that people often have very fixed views on characters and what they like from old issues but these views also vary more than we think between those who make up each characters fandom. Which is fair enough for when someone comes along and writes sht thats just entirely off mark, but I recognise can also be a bit restrictive for when ppl try new things with characters or advance in things plot wise. Now im not talking specifically about dark crises especially since its whole theme is “throwback”, but I do think its something that should be considered generally

Pei Yuan is truly giving me psycho vibes, it’s just wow. She’s not truly there in her head. It’s hilarious to watch YJC being slightly unsettled by her.

The way she killed her own sect members, all in service of YJC (can we also talk about the sect erasing the names?? what is that even?? such a crappy sect!). The way she smiles adoringly up at him.. gives me the heebie jeebies. But YJC is so passive, its crazy.

At least Bart is allowed to be pectorally preponderant in YJ Dark Crisis LOL, like, I pretty much pleased that he's not been drawn like a little kid, nor also skinny/scrawny, I'm glad he's allowed to be in shape.

this ask is familiar I think I saw another bart blog answer it sdfghjk I can't find it rn but I just remember totally agreeing with what they said lmfao

but yeah in general its def an art style im not complaining much about, especially cause I think it shows him closer to his age at this stage in the comics. Like im not really one for the some what classic comic “realism” kind of look that is for some reason really popular in flash books lol which I do think the YJDC art style is similar to (to an extent) but he doesn't look awful, even with the bob, hes pulling it off quite well sdfghjk so with this and him being decently built, ig u could say we r doing alright lol

Iraq’s Yazidi's seek justice from international courts

British lawyers have told The Guardian, that countries failed in their obligations to prevent genocide against Iraq's Yazidis. There has been little accountability for the Yazidi Genocide. It is also widely acknowledged that more than 5,000 Yazidis have been killed.

The lawyers, who formally announced their collaboration as the Yazidi Justice Committee on Tuesday, have been working over the past two and a half years to investigate the genocide committed by Islamic State.

The YJC lawyers have examined evidence that as many as 10 countries could be deemed responsible for the failure to prevent genocide under the UN’s Genocide Convention, and could be brought before a court of law.

The aim is to bring those states before the international court of justice (ICJ) and if the case was successful, the respondent states might then be required to pay reparations to the victims of Islamic State's genocide.

Back in 2016, Nobel Prize winner Nadia Murad came to the UK where she met the AMAR Foundation's chair Baroness Emma Nicholson and Baroness Anelay of the UK’s Foreign Office, to discuss the plight of Iraq's Yazidi women.

As Baroness Nicholson stated; “What happened to Nadia and the thousands of other poor Yazidi women was absolutely shocking. Now, the world is finally waking up to the enormity of the crimes perpetrated against them. It is a Genocide. The sheer murderous brutality of the vile Daesh is almost beyond words.”
