Hi, I’m Lauren. I live in New York State, I am a high school student going into eleventh grade. I plan to graduate early and go to school for real estate. This was my first year doing LEAP. I decided to do LEAP because I wanted the experience get paid and live in another state away from home. I also wanted to meet more people that are visually impaired and blind. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone. I know that you have to get uncomfortable to grow so that is why I wanted to do LEAP.
I worked at the ReSOURCE Williston store this summer and my favorite thing to do was price things. I was also a student facilitator for a Friday round up meeting. My goal was to learn how to use the cash register. I was really nervous about it at first, but it turned out to be simpler than I thought. Some of the fun things I liked to do during LEAP are getting to cook with other people and I loved rock climbing which was surprising for me because I have a fear of falling. I want to find rock climbing places in my town.
My strength was knowing when I needed to ask for help when I knew that I couldn’t do it on my own. My weakness was my anxiety, making me too nervous. Nothing particularly challenging at my work site. I think trying to stand and hang clothes was a bit of a challenge at first because of my height. It was fixed with a step stool which made it easier for me.
I was able to use my leadership skills to support leading a Friday round up meeting. This was the first time I was given a leadership role so I was very nervous but I think I did well. My greatest achievement at LEAP was that I have improved on my social anxiety, and the confidence in myself and my abilities. LEAP has brought me closer to the person I want to be. My hobbies are rock climbing now, hiking, fishing, and movies. I like the slow moments in life.

In the circle is a picture of Lauren at the ReSOURSE store. Standing by the cash register. She is smiling and wearing black sunglasses and a black t-shirt. In the top right corner is a graphic of a person rock climbing, on the bottom right corner is a graphic of a person hiking, On the bottom left is a graphic of a person sitting on a dock and fishing and on the top left is a movie slate.

Backstory
Lydia was born in Williston, North Dakota and was the first daughter for her family. Lydia had a weakened immune system and got sick easily throughout her life. When Lydia was 9 months old, her family moved to Libby, Montana to be near her mother's aging parents. It was intended for the family to move back to Williston, but they all fell in love with Montana and never left. Living on farmland, Lydia spent free time with her brothers: they rode horses, went fishing, climbed trees and camped in the summer. Being outside helped her stay healthy. Lydia went to a small school and only enjoyed storybooks. All other subjects were hard and the teachers were cold hearted which made Lydia feel inferior. As she grew, she visited the library more often and her learning skills improved. Her favorite books were Ivanhoe, The Iliad, The Odyssey and The Hobbit. (She loved The Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia when they were first published.) After graduating high school, she earned a teacher's certificate with the goal to help children learn in better ways than she did. However, she also desired to have adventures one day even if she wasn’t sure how it’d go. That started changing when she met Jim Venkman.
Jim was a couple years older than Lydia and resided in Montana to hideout from his recent problems. It was love at first sight for him and Lydia grew to love him after several outings. Jim promised Lydia "all her dreams." Her parents, didn't approve Jim because they found him sleazy and doubted it was really love. Her brothers, all younger and older, weren’t sure about Jim and always felt genuine protection for their only sister. Lydia constantly argued with her mother in particular and finally, her parents threatened to disown her. Young, wanting adventure, and thinking she knew best, Lydia left with Jim. She did teach and found creative ways to help her students learn. However, Lydia missed her family and months in the marriage, found herself miserable. Jim was going back and forth with "jobs" and while inadvertent, seemed to take her for granted. Lydia became severely depressed: she felt trapped, dissatisfied and worst of all, lonely. Not introverted/like the quiet, solitude loneliness. It was an abandoned loneliness. That ended after a doctor's appointment where she discovered she was expecting. She gave birth in a quick labor and was with happy tears to have her son. Since Jim wasn't there and difficult to contact, Lydia spent five days with just her baby. Instead of going with Jim's desires to name a son James Jr., she chose Peter. Despite the sudden moving back and forth, financial issues, working overtime to make ends meet and frustration with her husband, Lydia loved Peter more than anything. She did all she could to give him a good childhood. That all came to a crushing end, when she became terribly sick with pneumonia and passed away. She was 32 and Peter was only 10.
Life Goals
Lydia desired to have adventures in her life even if she was fragile. She wanted to believe the best in people and planned to teach for her career. When she became a mother, Lydia's goals all went to her son and that became the adventure of her life; one she wouldn’t change despite the hardships. When Lydia was told her pneumonia was getting worse and survival was decreasing, she imagined what would happen for Peter: Would he go to college? What would be his career? Would he find love? Have his own kids? For her it was unknown, but in all, she hoped he would be surrounded with stable, caring, enjoyable friendships/family members. She'd been happy to know that did come true.

Meadowlark Lemon
Tumblr media
Meadow Lemon III (April 25, 1932 – December 27, 2015), known professionally as Meadowlark Lemon, was an American basketball player, actor, and Christian minister (ordained in 1986). From 1994, he served Meadowlark Lemon Ministries in Scottsdale, Arizona. For 22 years, he was known as the "Clown Prince" of the touring Harlem Globetrotters basketball team. He played in more than 16,000 games for the Globetrotters and was a 2003 inductee into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
When basketball legend Wilt Chamberlain was asked his opinion on the best player of all time, he responded, "For me it would be Meadowlark Lemon." Fellow Wilmington great Michael Jordan called Lemon a "true national treasure" and a personal inspiration in Jordan's youth.
Early life
Lemon was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, and attended Williston Industrial School, graduating in 1952. He then matriculated at Florida A&M University, but was soon drafted into the United States Army and served for two years in Austria and West Germany.
Career
Basketball
Lemon made his first basketball hoop out of an onion sack and coat hanger, using an empty Carnation milk can to sink his first 2-point hoop.
Lemon first applied to the Globetrotters in 1954 at age 22, finally being chosen to play in 1955. In 1980, he left to form one of his Globetrotters imitators, the Bucketeers. He played with that team until 1983, then moved on to play with the Shooting Stars from 1984 to 1987. In 1988, he moved on to "Meadowlark Lemon's Harlem All Stars" team. Despite being with his own touring team, Lemon returned to the Globetrotters, playing 50 games with them in 1994.
In 2000, Lemon received the John Bunn Award, the highest honor given by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame outside induction. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003.
Television appearances
In the 1970s, an animated version of Lemon, voiced by Scatman Crothers, starred with various other Globetrotters in the Hanna-Barbera animated cartoon series Harlem Globetrotters, as well as its spinoff, The Super Globetrotters. The animated Globetrotters also made three appearances in The New Scooby-Doo Movies.
Lemon appeared alongside Fred "Curly" Neal, Marques Haynes and his other fellow Globetrotters in a live-action Saturday-morning television show, The Harlem Globetrotters Popcorn Machine, in 1974–1975, which also featured Rodney Allen Rippy and Avery Schreiber.
In 1978, Lemon appeared in a memorable Burger King commercial by making a tower of burgers until he found a double-beef pickles and onions with no-cheese burger.
1n 1980, Lemon appeared as the coach of the basketball team from The White Shadow in a series of guest skits for Order/Disorder week on 3-2-1 Contact.
In 1983, Lemon appeared on an episode of Alice entitled "Tommy Fouls Out", and in a Charmin toilet paper commercial alongside Mr. Whipple (actor Dick Wilson).
In 1996 season 2 episode 5 of Pinky and the Brain titled "Brain's Song" Meadowlark Lemon was Brain's best friend in the parody of Brian's Song
In 2006, on episode of adult swim's The Boondocks entitled "The Itis", the name of Meadowlark was used as the name of the park that Ed Wuncler I mentions an interest in purchasing from the state.
In 2009, on FOX's TV show The Cleveland Show, the name of Meadowlark Lemon was used for a dog's name for the character of Rallo Tubbs. The dog died in the first season.
Other work
In 1979, Lemon starred in the educational geography film Meadowlark Lemon Presents the World. Also in 1979, he joined the cast of the short-lived television sitcom Hello, Larry in season two, to help boost the show's ratings. In the same year, he played Rev. Grady Jackson in the movie The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh. It was several years before he actually became an ordained minister himself.
In 1982, Lemon was featured in the Grammy-nominated video Fun & Games, an interactive educational video produced by Optical Programming Associates and Scholastic Productions, on the then-emerging LaserDisc format.
Personal life
Lemon had 10 children: Richard, George, Beverly, Donna, Robin, Jonathan, Jamison, Angela, Crystal, and Caleb.
A born-again Christian, Lemon became an ordained minister in 1986 and received a Doctor of Divinity degree from Vision International University in Ramona, California, in 1988. By damming three tributaries in Easthampton, Massachusetts - the Broad Brook, White Brook and Wilton Brook, the mills thrived. The pond was named after Samuel Williston's company, The Nashawannuck Manufacturing Company, makers of the popular "elastic suspenders". Samuel Williston also founded the Williston-Northampton School, a private school located near the town center. The pond was the hub of activity for many families who grew up enjoying the pond for fishing, ice skating, boating and swimming. The pond was eventually purchased by the town of Easthampton. C H A R A C T E R ⇢ @atlanta-rpgstarters
Tumblr media
hiya sweetpeas, it’s marii again. so, i absolutely loved it in frostford and i loved all of you ( ♡ ) so i just had to come along to the new group. i’m really excited to continue to develop sebastian and his relationships and do lots of fun stuff with you all! i have added some stuff to sebastian’s biography, re-vamped it a bit, but he is preeeeetty much the same. i’m going to start over with threads though, since it’s a new town, and for the ones i have plotted with, let’s talk so we can sort something out so it could work for the new group!
⇢ S E B A S T I A N   M O O R E, twenty-four ( 24 ) year old, originally from williston, florida and has been in atlanta for a month. currently working at C I N E P L E X   C I N E M A.
C H I L D H O O D
S E B A S T I A N was born in williston, florida and he was the oldest of three children. his parents, amanda & thomas moore, were surprised when sebastian came, as they hadn’t been trying to have children at that time. he wasn’t planned at all. but loved more than anything nonetheless. he has two siblings; one little brother ( 15 ) and a little sister ( 8 ), whom both look up to him and think of him as a superhero. sebastian would do anything for them. he has a great relationship with his whole family and especially his dad. the two would go on hikes, fishing and camping whenever they had some spare time and sebastian couldn’t even begin to imagine growing up without that.
S C H O O L
W H E N it came to school, sebastian did pretty well. he got good grades throughout middle and high school. he was a popular guy in high school; he made people laugh and he was also the type of person who would talk to anyone. no matter what social status you had; whether they were considered a geek, cheerleader or whatever. that was one of the reasons why people loved him. in high school, he dated perrie sullivan and the two of them were the it couple. when college came, though, they were going their separate ways and decided that a long distance relationship wouldn’t work.
S E B A S T I A N went to college for accounting. he started going out more, living his life to the fullest. he would go out with his friends every night and with that, he kind of put his education in the backseat for a while. when applying for college, sebastian hadn’t really picked something he wanted to study, it was more you need to pick something, so he did. and with that, his education started to lack passion. because he had absolutely no idea what he wanted to do with his life and it was extremely frustrating.
T U R N   O F   E V E N T S ⇢ nate
S E B A S T I A N and his best friend nate, were out driving a late january night, during a snowstorm and on their way to meet up with some friends. they had been celebrating new years in the mountains, like they always did, when nate had lost control of the vehicle and it skidded off the road. nate had been driving too fast, which resulted in the car losing complete control and rolling over. sebastian had been knocked out instantly, and didn’t wake up until a little while later. when he woke up, he found himself laying upside down with his body pressing against the passenger seat. pain shooting through his body and his head felt like it was going to explode.
W H E N he looked over at his best friend, that’s when he saw nate covered in blood and when he tried to wake him up, he couldn’t get a response from him.sebastian had tried to get out of there and get hold of his phone, but nothing helped. a couple of hours later, with sebastian laying with his dead best friend in the driver’s seat, a car came by and stopped. they called for an ambulance and sadly the paramedics couldn’t help nate as he had passed away earlier that night. he had hit his head hard and broken ribs in so many different spots which resulted in one of them puncturing his lung in the process. sebastian was taken to the hospital and luckily came out of it alive.
T H E   A F T E R M A T H
S E B A S T I A N had broken his leg in three different spots, and needed physical therapy to get it to work properly. luckily, he didn’t have to amputate and the doctors were hopeful that he would be able to get it back to normal, with possibly a slight limp. something that would always remind him of what had happened that night. it took him about a year or so to get his leg to work as close to normal. his parents wanted him to talk to a therapist, and to begin with, sebastian refused. he couldn’t talk to anyone about what he had experienced. it was too painful, so instead, he turned to alcohol and got drunk in the middle of the day. one day, though, he realized that he needed to talk to someone or it was going to consume him.
H E started going to therapy and although he didn’t really talk about what had happened that night, it helped a little. talking to someone who didn’t know either of them. with everyone in town reminding him of nate, sebastian decided that he needed to move out of williston and find a new place to stay. so, one early october morning, he packed his bag, said goodbye to parents and siblings, and jumped on the first bus out of florida.
A T L A N T A,   G E O R G I A
O N E of sebastian’s friends, lived in atlanta, georgia and said that he could come and stay with him until he found himself a place to stay. so, sebastian went to atlanta and moved in with his friend while looking for a place he could call his own. sebastian’s friend got him set up with an interview for a job at the cineplex cinema and after a week or so, he got the call that he got the job. sebastian took the job with open arms ( and as he has a love for movies, it was the perfect place for him to work ). a couple of weeks later, sebastian found a place to stay – an apartment in a complex, and with the money from his job and help from his parents, he got a spot. he knew he had to find a roommate though, to get the bills paid in the long-run.

Work in progress underpainting of Pteranodon longiceps. This creature flew through the skies of the Late Cretaceous around 86 to 84.5 million years ago in what would become North America. Discovered in 1879 in Kansas by Othniel Charles Marsh in chalk desposits, all that remained of an ancient shallow sea that once crossed over the middle of the North American continent. Those original findings included the bones of a partial wing and a tooth from a fish named Xiphactinus that Marsh initially took to belong to the pterosaur he had just discoverer. He initially named it Pterodactylus oweni, thinking that it was a member of the Pterodactylus genus that had previously been discovered in Europe. He changed the name again after finding that the previous name had already been assigned to another specimen, calling it Pterodactylus occidentalis.
At the same time Edward Drinker Cope, Marsh's professional and personal rival had found specimens of the same animal elsewhere, assigning his finds to another European genus of pterosaur, Ornithocheirus.
As Cope's paper was published just 5 days after Marsh's the two engaged in debate, each advocating that they were the first to discover this new flying beast. Marsh won in the end and Marsh's description was put in the history books, naming Pterodactylus occidentalis and what he thought was a larger species P. umbrosus. It wasn't until later that a skull would be found by Samuel Wendell Williston, showing that Marsh was mistaken in his assumption that they were part of the Pterodactylus genus.
Marsh realized his mistake and renamed his discovery, Pteranodon (wing without tooth) to fit with the fact that up until that point all other pterosaur species that had been discovered had teeth. He maintained separate a separate species classification for the smaller animal with the shorter crest. Numerous other species were named and renamed as more were discovered.
Much later Christopher Bennett, proved that the initial differences between the shorter crested small Pteranodons and the ones with the larger crests and more robust size were consistent with aspects of sexual dimorphism, meaning that there were pronounced differences between males and females of the group.
At it's largest, Pteranodon appears to have had an enormous 20 foot wingspan, dwarfing that of all living bird species. Despite this size, it's hollow bone structure would have made it much lighter than it appeared, with estimates ranging from as low as 44 pounds for smaller specimens and as heavy as around 200 pounds for a big male specimen, which was still very light for an animal as big as it was.
P. longiceps would have most likely launched itself into the air propelling itself from a standing position with it's strong arm muscles akin to essentially throwing itself into the air via natural catapult.
It most likely fed on a diet of fish and other sea creatures, based on the location where specimens have been found and the remains of prey animals found with them.

Brachauchenius lucasi
Tumblr media
Art by: Dmitry Bogdanov, CC BY 3.0
Name: Brachauchenius lucasi
Name Meaning: ‬Short neck‭
First Described: 1903
Described By: Williston
Classification: Chordata, Tetrapoda, Reptilia, ‬Sauropterygia,‭ ‬Plesiosauria,‭ ‬Pliosauridae
Brachauchenius lived during the Late Cretaceous and it had a wide distribution from Kansas (Western Interior Seaway) all the way to Colombia and other parts of South America. Brachauchenius most likely preyed upon plesiosaurs, other marine reptile contemporaries, and big fish as well. ‬Interestingly, there could be bias in the fossil record because it seems like Brachauchenius is the first and last pliosaur (short neck and wide head) to show up randomly in the Late Cretaceous Period, as paleontologists don’t see pliosaurs ranging from the Late Jurassic up to the Early to Middle Cretaceous. This of course seems strange, but just because we don’t physically see pliosaurs from this time gap, doesn’t mean that they simply didn’t exist, we just don’t have them recorded within the spotty fossil record.

The Cedar Lakes Woods and Garden was founded by Dr. Raymond Webber in 2014 but its history dates back further than that. In 1991 Webber discovered an 110 year old abandoned lime rock quarry, the lime rock was used as the foundation for Highway 27, that he bought with the intention to turn it into his own giant fishing pond. Webber decided to take up gardening as a hobby and as a way to add greenery to the pond and soon realized his passion for gardening. This discovery led to the creation of what is now Cedar Lakes Woods and Gardens. (Anthony Ventresca 3/29/2022)

The 6 perfect diving places in Florida
Visiting the Sunshine State is a fantastic experience.
From natural wonders to magical adventures, there is plenty to see and do in the Florida.
But I want to tell you about most exciting diving sites there:
1.Devil’s Den
Scuba diving instruction and leisure are provided by this privately owned and operated facility near Williston.
There are 54 feet of depth and 120 feet of width in the cave.
Karst window allow the sun to shine directly through the opening above the cave, making it perhaps the most captivating view of all. Moss dangles down from the cave’s roof, giving the cave an overgrown menacing appearance, but it fits the cave’s character.
2.Dry Tortugas National Park
Snorkel in crystal clear waters with amazing marine life at a 19th century fort.
The secluded Dry Tortugas National Park is located nearly 70 miles (113 kilometers) west of Key West. With seven small islands, this 100-square-mile park is primarily open water. The park, which is only accessible by boat or seaplane, is famous around the world for its magnificent Fort Jefferson, beautiful blue waters, world-class coral reefs and marine life, and a diverse array of bird species.
3.Ginnie Springs
Ginnie Springs’ water is incredibly clean, and the region is large enough that you can go camping and do other things when you’re not on the water! Every day, it pumps out 80 million gallons of water.
Ginnie Springs is a popular spot for diving, but you will definitely need a wetsuit as the water is 72 degrees, which is very cold!
This place is a great place for scuba diving or exploring the caverns if you’re an experienced cave diver.
Dive sites include Devil’s Ear, Devi’s Eye, and Devil’s Spring here.
4.Neptune Memorial Reef
The Neptune Memorial Reef is located 3.25 miles off the coast of Key Biscayne, Florida, and will encompass 16 acres of ocean floor when completed.
Certified divers will be able to descend 45 feet below the ocean’s surface to visit the final resting place of their loved ones among the structures of this one-of-a-kind artistic rendition of the Lost City of Atlantis. Non-divers can enjoy their journey over the serene waters of the Memorial Reef by snorkeling, swimming or scattering flowers in memory of their loved ones.
A expanding ecology of sea creatures unique to the Florida coast can be found on the Neptune Memorial Reef. Two of the reasons why Neptune Memorial Coral is the ultimate ‘Green Burial’ potential are the natural processes made possible by this reef and the minimum influence on the earth that placing here has. The structures of the Neptune Memorial Reef perform a crucial role as an anchor for coral growth at a time when reefs all around the world are dying. Coral is an important part of a healthy ocean since it provides not only biodiversity but also coastline protection, food and other resources for humans and marine creatures, as well as recreational opportunities.
5.Manatee Springs State Park
The first-magnitude spring produces 100 million gallons of water each day. This makes it a popular area to cool off and stare into the water’s depths while strolling along the park’s boardwalk.
Manatees, according to their name, can be observed in the cooler months, while birds, animals, and fish can be seen all year.
Manatee Springs is a great place to do scuba diving or snorkeling. The state owns this beautiful park, and if you want to scuba dive, you must present your C-Card at the entry. Without cave certification, no dive lights are permitted. A steep limestone slope lowers down to a cavern entrance at 40 feet in this huge basin, swiftly turning into a cave dive. Catfish Hotel Sink is 200 yards distant. Duckweed covers this sink, which contains a cave system that has been linked to Manatee Spring. The depths are usually approximately 35 feet.
6.John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park
Pennekamp, John The United States’ first underwater park, Coral Reef State Park, was established in 1963. The state park is 25 miles long and 3 miles wide, and it is home to a variety of aquatic plant and animal species, as well as mangroves and a variety of bird species.
The park can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. On snorkeling and scuba diving tours, visitors can see the brilliant coral reef and the popular Christ of the Deep underwater statue.
That’s only part of a lot’s interesting places which you can visit in Florida. If you want to see more, you can read my hole article here.

The winds were more favorable on Friday. They were from the southwest. That helped me all day. But starting from 13 miles west of Williston meant that I had 85 miles to pedal. I paced myself and arrived in Stanley about 3:30. There is an oil boom in this area. Besides the usual cattle and wheat there were oil wells pumping in most fields. I am still on highway 2, but in North Dakota the road has a wide, smooth shoulder to ride on. In Montana the shoulders were wide and smooth only some of the time. It looks like these good shoulders will continue all the way across North Dakota. Yesterday I started right at sunrise. I was in Minot by noon. Above is a photo of the road going off to a point on the horizon. No mountains here. Part of the fun of this journey is enjoying the local culture. In Stanley we went to the Dakota Drug Store and had Whirl O Whip ice cream at the fountain. It’s very tasty. They put real fruit and flavors into a pint of ice cream. The other local place we visited was the Scandinavian Heritage Park in Minot. They had several buildings taken from Norway board by board and reassembled. Since both of us on Team Geezer have Norwegian ancestry, we enjoyed this park. But I liked the no fishing sign. I am getting in very good shape and getting a very good tan on this ride. But with a helmet with slots for ventilation I am also getting racing striped tan lines on top.

Daily Waypoint | N 42° 15 '54.0" W 72° 40' 07.5" Fall Mist on Nashawannuck Pond—Nashawannuck Pond was originally created in 1847 by the Williston-Knight Button Company to answer the need for an abundant, steady water source by area industrial mills. Easthampton is a city in Hampshire County, in the state of Massachusetts. The city is on the southeastern edge of the Pioneer Valley near the five colleges in the college towns of Northampton and Amherst. Easthampton was first settled by European immigrants beginning in 1664 and was originally part of Northampton. In 1785, the village of Easthampton was formally named its own separate political entity, and in 1809, it officially became a town.—This image was processed as an HDR (High Dynamic Range) composition. https://www.fmgphoto.com/Travel/Attractions/i-9vSRR6F https://followingmygps.com/easthampton-massachusetts/ #Nashawannuck #NashawannuckPond #EasthamptonMassachusetts #EasthamptonMA #townsofinstagram #autumncolors #autumnleaves #autumnnewengland #massachusettsautumn #autumnfall #fallcolors #fallcolor #discoveramerica #travelpics #travellife #travelinspiration #travelblog #travelphotography #fmgphoto #followingmygps #travelphotography #traveller #photography #travelamerica #lifestyle #LifeWellLived #travelmagazine #roadtripping #exploring #roadtrip (at Easthampton, Massachusetts) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFm18v-sctN/?igshid=1lqd8c026y3t
