In honor of the Velvet Underground narrowly beating out FOB in Rock Band March Madness, I recorded an audio version of my VU-inspired poem from my most recent chapbook.

White Light/White Heat - The Velvet Underground
This is the second Velvet Underground and the last one with John Cale. This includes song that is about speed(a slang term for amphetamine), a song about someone mailing themself as a gift to their girlfriend and a , a song about a trans woman getting a lobotomy, mentions not to shoot someone because it will stain the carpet, etc. I have the 45th anniversary Super Deluxe and it contains both stereo and mono versions of the album and I think the best combination of mono and stereo is; mono for White Light/White Heat, stereo for The Gift, stereo for Lady Godiva's Operation, mono for Here She Comes Now, mono for I Heard Her Call My Name, and stereo for Sister Ray.

UP THE NYC STREET PUNKS -- HAIL THE V.U.!
PIC INFO: Spotlight on American rock band THE VELVET UNDERGROUND, photographed by Ken Greenberg in NYC during the band's "White Light/White Heat" era, c. 1968.
"In a way, we were perfect punks. Delinquents anyway. I remember my parents thought rock 'n' roll would lead me to juvenile delinquency. But I was already there, so they couldn’t blame it on the guitar playing.”
-- STERLING MORRISON (1942-1995), c. 1985, collected in "Linger On: The Velvet Underground" (by Ignacio Julià, 2022)
