Versatile Outdoor Wear: Waxed Jackets for Each Season Explained
Tumblr media
When it comes to versatile outdoor wear, men's waxed jackets from Speedwear Ltd stand out as a top choice for every climate. Whether you're braving the chill of winter or navigating the unpredictable showers of spring, a waxed jacket offers both style and functional protection. In this blog, we'll explore how to utilize these durable jackets through various seasons and provide practical advice on layering and protection against the elements.
Winter: Your Shield Against the Cold
In the winter months, a waxed jacket is essential for staying warm and dry. The wax coating offers excellent water resistance, while its wind-blocking capabilities are ideal for colder climates. For additional warmth, layering is key. Start with a thermal base layer, add a fleece or wool sweater, and top it off with your waxed jacket. Ensure your motorcycle jackets are equipped with enough insulation to handle the freezing temperatures, turning your waxed jacket into a winter fortress.
Spring: Ready for Rain
Spring often brings rain and fluctuating temperatures. A waxed jacket's water-resistant properties make it perfect for this season. Lightweight and stylish, these jackets can be paired with a waterproof hoodie or a breathable long-sleeve shirt underneath, depending on the temperature. It's also a great time to incorporate protective motorcycle gear that complements the waxed jacket, ensuring that you remain dry and comfortable during those spring showers.
Summer: Beating the Heat
Though typically associated with colder weather, waxed jackets can also be adapted for cooler summer evenings or rainy days. Opt for a lighter, unlined waxed jacket to avoid overheating. Pair it with a simple t-shirt or a breathable cotton shirt. The waxed finish provides protection from summer rains without the bulk of a traditional coat, making it ideal for milder weather or as a stylish layer on cooler nights.

Autumn: Layering for Comfort
Autumn's mild yet unpredictable weather calls for adaptable layering options. A waxed jacket can transition smoothly from a cool morning to a sunny afternoon. Layer it over a denim or flannel shirt for both warmth and breathability. As the day warms up, you can easily remove the jacket or adjust your layers underneath. This season is all about flexibility, and a waxed jacket provides just that, along with continuous protection from intermittent rains.
Conclusion
No matter the season, men's waxed jackets from Speedwear Ltd offer unmatched versatility and style. From the harsh winds of winter to the unpredictable downpours of spring, these jackets adjust to every climate with ease. By following these best practices for layering and selecting the right gear, you'll maximize your comfort and protection throughout the year. Embrace each season with confidence and style, knowing your waxed jacket has got you covered.

He walked through the door inhaling the familiar scent of your shared home. “You’re home!” You said with excitement, thrilled to see Joost. He talked to you about the latest concert, his eyes sparkling with joy when he described a huge group of people shouting the lyrics to his song alongside him.
You were happy to finally have him back home as this was the last concert of the tour. He expressed how grateful he was for your support and couldn’t quite stop apologising for - as he called it - abandoning you for so long. You reassured him constantly hoping he would one day realise what made him happy, made you happy.
You both were too tired to do anything more than discuss things on the surface level. “You know I wouldn’t give you up for anything in the world.” He said as you both were laying in your shared bed. You nodded, constantly surprised by the level of affection he sported while extremely tired.
You woke up well rested, finally not worrying if he was okay, he was next to you after all. “I’m doing laundry, do you need anything washed?” You said no and went into the kitchen to prepare breakfast for you two. When he was done with the load he got into the kitchen and hugged you from behind inhaling your scent.
“Missed you.” He mumbled into your neck tickling you with his breath. “Missed you too.” You were standing over the stove with a wooden spoon stirring the scrambled eggs. Joost thought proved to be a severe distraction. “I need to focus on the task at hand, Joost.” He let his gorgeous laugh out. “I knoww~ but I didn’t have much time to spend with you and I need you now.” Your face got warmer at those words. “You’ve got me all to yourself lovely.” You said this time making his fair skin turn a shade of red.
He stopped hugging you and opted instead to set the table. It was quite small but enough for both of you to dine. He made sure to give you your favourite glass. You served the food up. He commented on how tasty it was despite it being only eggs and salt. “It’s hard to fuck up scrambled eggs.” You said with a slight jest in your voice. He laughed and continued. “But it’s not impossible!”
You went into the living room of your apartment after he was done with washing the dishes and you were done drying them. Your day was spent laying in bed and watching some stupid series full of cheesy jokes which were just cringey enough to make both your stomachs hurt from the laughter. At some point you stood up and went into the bathroom.
Your socks were met with a wet floor which you didn’t expect. Suddenly you realised what was going on. “Joost!” You shouted, calling him over. “What’s up?” He walked right into the puddle. “The washing machine malfunctioned… grab some cloths.” He nodded and walked up to the closet and pulled out some, handing it to you with a smile on his face to cheer you up before the work you both were going to do soon.
Unfortunately you didn’t catch the malfunction in time which meant the floor panels lifted due to the moisture they absorbed. Renovations were long overdue and you were planning on changing up the floors anyway you told yourself when you saw the panels literally de-gluing themselves from the floor.
You decided on a herringbone style of floors this time opting to lay them yourselves, after all how hard could it be? You bought raw planks and let Joost lay his heart out. You loved seeing him work all stuck in his own world. He weatherproofed the planks after cutting them up into size appropriate pieces and made your home look brand new with the shining new floors.
“You did a great job baby.” You said when he came over excited to show you his work. “We should monitor our washing machine better next time though, we wouldn’t want to ruin these gorgeous floors.”

The Devil Wears Black ... but would wear Prada if he could!
Tumblr media
Tantai Jin has fought hard to proof that he is not the Devil God and will never truly become like him... except for this small detail: The way he dresses!
While watching Till The End Of The Moon for the first time I was always amazed by Tantai Jin's beautiful cloth and the elegant way the dresses. However, by the time he had embraced his identity as Cang Jiumin his cloth felt almost out of place in comparison to his sect brothers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These outfits are beautiful. A lot of layers of blues and whites with intricate ornament, elaborate head dresses and feather details. He truly looks eternal! He looks less like a humble disciple tho. These cloth reminds me a lot of Tantai Jin's style as the king of Jing, which seems to be shining through - or so I thought.
And it makes some sense that Tantai Jin would dress fancy, since for the longest time he had no access to adequate clothing (in weatherproofing, status and style).
But once Tantai Jin confronts the Ancient Devil God it all made sense!
Tumblr media
The first thing the Ancient Devil God does, is giving Cang Jiumin a magical make-over. Gone is the white, replaced by black and blue, studded with sequins. His top priority is literally to dress his Devil Fetus in new fancy robes...
There is no denying that the Devil God from is one of the best dressed villains out there. If you plan the end all karma, you better do it in style!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So all the times we have seen Tantai Jin dress in his fancy robes, it was actually the Devil God peaking through! Not convinced yet? Just look at the feather details that connect the Ancient Devil God, Tantai Jin and Cang Jiumin!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eyeliner and lipstick always are always on point. Even goes to the Nether River all dolled up with curly hair (again, very similar to the Ancient Devil God).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Conclusion: Tantai Jin inherited his passion for fashion from the Devil God himself and he never stood a chance in denying destiny. (And I'm very grateful for that.)

Of the many attractive girls who hung around the Casbah, one in particular caught John's eye. She was an elfin blonde with a tense, wounded look, whom he nicknamed Bubbles, for lack of a proper introduction and because it so unsuited her. In fact, all the guys had noticed her watching them. While not a beautiful girl, she was catlike and intense, in a mysterious kind of way. She also was eager to meet them. "It must have been all over my face that I fancied John," recalls Bubbles, whose real name is Dot Rhone, "but once it became clear he had a girlfriend, I lost interest." Instead, she approached Paul with game determination, pretending to be faint in order to get him outside, where they could be by themselves.
Once alone, an "immediate attraction" developed between them. Paul discovered in Dot a person who hardly fit the profile of the other girls at the Casbah. She had grown up in a better section of Liverpool called Childwell, around the corner from Brian Epstein, the Beatles' future manager. But "it might have been two different worlds," Dot says, her humble situation being anything unlike Epstein's glaringly "posh" circumstances. "I didn't have a normal childhood. My dad was an alcoholic; he never hung on to any money. And the only reason we lived in that neighborhood was because a sickly aunt left the house to my mother." A year younger than Paul, Dot had gone to Liverpool Institute High School, "the girls' school across the road from the Inny", but had left in June, taking a clerk's job at the Dale Street branch of District Bank in order to support her family. Paul, she believes, was attracted by how needy and impressionable she was, which put her under his sway; she found him "adorably handsome, opinionated," and loaded with confidence. "He came from the first family I'd ever known that cared about each other so much," Dot says. "Everyone would gather around the piano, while Jim played songs like 'You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby', and sometimes [he] would sing with Paul and Mike." At a deeper level, they undoubtedly recognized the loneliness in each other's lives, each absent a parent - in her case because of addiction. [...]
As 1959 drew to a close, the boys spent more time with girlfriends than with one another. John and Cynthia, according to friends closest to the couple, were "besotted with each other". For his part, Paul stopped playing the field and settled down with Dot Rhone. As a couple, they had an appealingly unthreatening air. They discovered each other to be solicitous and sensual, gentle and clumsy, with Paul at times taking on a paternal and sympathetic role. Once, at a friend's house, Dot happened to mention that she'd been standing all day and he began to massage her feet, stroking them as though they were precious pets. And yet, at the time the gesture felt almost preposterous.
Eventually Paul's attention grew relentless, almost disparaging. His simple gregariousness turned uncompromising and willful. Paul was immensely charming, but there was a darker side. He had a need - Dot believes a compulsion - to control every situation. As John had done with Cynthia, he began to pick out her clothes, redesign her makeup. Dot remembers how much it pleased Paul to stand beside her and study her appearance, then, in a roundabout way, critique the way she looked - and suggest how to improve upon it. On one occasion, he insisted that she have her hair done and produced money to pay for it. Not wanting to displease him, Dot went off to the beauty parlor. "Unfortunately, they did [my hair] in a terrible-looking beehive", she says. "Paul was furious when he saw it. He told me to go home and not to call him until it grew out again."
She detected other changes in Paul that proved equally disagreeable. He had an almost stuffy, explosive air of self-importance, with his simple superiority, cool poise, and weatherproof rightness. He scorned any sign of self-confidence in her. And Dot, pricked by love, submitted. As a rule, she did not impose her will on him, certainly never when they were among friends. She would sit quietly and smile tensely for entire evening at the Jacaranda while Paul and John discussed music. If Paul glared, she would freeze like a rabbit. "We weren't allowed to open our mouths", Dot says of her and Cynthia's attendance at these nightly discussions. "They'd talk all night, and we just listened."

Extremely Strong Shower Bench
I've gotten feedback from the community asking me to share my plans, so here it is. If you want to build your own shower bench, this is how you do it. Make sure to ask a thinno for help, this will not be easy to do!
Tumblr media
This is an extremely strong shower bench with a 1000+lb capacity. The floor under you will fail before the bench does! This shower bench is designed to remove you from the shower and basically have you sit on the ledge. You will need a couple feet of clearance away from your tub's ledge for it to work.
The top of my tub's ledge is about 1' 3⅜" up from the ground. If yours is taller/shorter by more than ¼" or so, you will need to make some adjustments to measurements down below.
Tumblr media
This is a photo of the materials I used to make this build. I got everything I needed at my local hardware store. My build wasn't perfect though. I would suggest you learn from my mistakes and acquire a slightly different material list though:
1x 2'×4' plywood sheet. Get something pre-sanded and rated for outdoor use. I recommend ¾" thick.
2x 8' 2×4s. Most any wood type will work, so get what you like most. I just got some normal 2×4s and made sure they looked pretty. If you don't want to bother with staining or weatherproofing the structure of your bench, get pressure-treated 2×4s.
4x 2' ½"×½" square dowel.
4x Simpson Strong-Tie RTC2Z. Get the black-powder-coated ones if you can.
2x Simpson Strong-Tie LUS24Z. These will be used for the cross beam.
4x Simpson Strong-Tie FB24Z. These will be the feet.
1x Simpson Strong-Drive SD9112R100 #9×1½" 100ct Connector Screws. You won't use the whole box. It comes with a bit.
4x 3" common nails.
32x 1½" common nails.
35x 1" brad/finish nails.
200-220 grit sandpaper.
Oil-based high-gloss polyurethane.
Small dense-foam roller & roller pan.
If you're applying stain, oil stain & staining brush for oil stain.
Liquid rubber. Get something that will provide grip.
Rubber-foam weather stripping. The thicker and wider, the better. I got 20' of 1¼"×7⁄16" and it worked great for me.
4x paper clips, hair ties, or something to hang the feet from.
A plastic tarp, thickness is more important than size.
As for tools, you really only need two things:
Hammer
Drill, ratchet, or socket screwdriver
OPTIONAL: File or knife
I also highly recommend some PPE. Get some cheap/disposable cleaning gloves, a mask of some type, hair ties for your hair, and an old change of clothes.
If you don't have access to a table saw at home, *don't leave the store yet!* You need to cut your wood at the store. Many home improvement stores will cut your lumber for you, either for free or for a low price.
Ask an employee to cut the two 2×4s like this:
2×4 #1: 38", 38", 17"
2×4 #2: 33½", 33½", 13", 13"
NOTE: If your tub ledge was taller/shorter than mine, then for every 1" difference, lengthen/shorten each 33½" cut by TWO inches.
Then ask them to cut two dowels down to 20½", and two down to 24".
You should also ask them to take 6" off the short side of the plywood, so it's 2'×3½' instead of 2'×4'.
You're not ready to leave yet! You need to make two more cuts, and the store employees will not help you with these. Many home improvement stores will have a DIY handsaw table where you can cut moulding down to length. You'll need to use this to make the last two cuts yourself.
Tumblr media
You need to make an ANGLED cut into the 33½" boards. Lay the first 33½" board down flat as shown. On the edge closest to you, mark a point 1' 5⅛" away from the left end of the board. Then on the edge farthest from you, mark a point 1' 5¼" away from the same left end of the board. Position your saw across both points, and cut through the board. You may need to roll the board over to finish the cut.
NOTE: If your tub ledge was taller/shorter than mine, then for every 1" of difference, add/remove 1" from the 1' 5⅛" / 1' 5¼" measurements above.
For the second board, *do not measure!* It is more important that the cuts in the boards be identical than it is for any one cut to have exact dimensions. Lay the second board down, then set one of the cut pieces on top so the ends of the two boards are aligned, then use the existing angle in the cut piece to start the cut in the second board.
Tumblr media
When you are done, you will have four boards, two slightly taller than the others, with the exact same angle cut in all of them. In the above photo, the boards are resting on their angled ends. These pieces will be your long and short legs.
NOW you can bring everything home.
First, lay down your tarp somewhere. Ideally you'll have access to a 5'×10' flat area outside.
Then you need to sand *everything* (except the big faces of the plywood, and the pressure-treated wood if you went that route). Pay special attention to the corners and cuts in the wood.
Now you need to attach the square dowels to the outside of the plywood board. Choose a face of the board to be the "up" face, the one you'll sit on. Put the 24" dowels on top, right along the short edges. Choose a long edge to be the back, and squeeze the two shorter dowels in along it between the side dowels. Nail everything down with the finish nails.
Next is staining, if you chose to stain. Apply according to the directions on the tin. You will likely have to do multiple coats.
Now the truly hard part, applying polyeurethane. I recommend using the foam roller for this and applying many coats. You can prop up the plywood sheet using the 2×4s if you like so you can get all the way around the edges in one pass. You'll still need to flip it over and do three more passes when done with the top, so you can protect the underside from warping.
While waiting for your polyethylene to dry, you may as well make the rubber feet. Grab your four FB24Zs and tie something through one of the holes in the end. Open your can of liquid rubber and follow the instructions to fully submerge each one before leaving it out to dry. One coat should be enough. Once dry, try to remove excess rubber from the inside using a file or knife.
When everything's had a good long dry (at least a day after final coat), it's time for assembly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Grab your two 38" boards, your two 13" boards, all four of your legs, and your four RTC2Zs — everything except what's highlighted red in the first photo above. Set the 38" boards down on their narrow side along the long edges of the board, and the 13" boards down on their narrow side along the short edges of the board. Bring them together to form a rectangle, then set the RTC2Zs upside-down on the corners. Each RTC2Z has an L-shaped hole in its bottom; the top/bottom of each L-shaped hole will be filled by the ends of the 38" boards, while the center and left/right of each hole will be filled by the legs. The ends of each 38" board will butt against the wide side of the legs, while the ends of each 13" board will butt against the narrow side of the legs. Now make sure everything is pressed firmly together as you use the Strong-Drive screws to attach the RTC2Zs to the 38" & 13" boards. For each corner, four screws go into the 38" board and two screws go into the 13" board. *DO NOT ATTACH THE LEGS YET!* The legs are just here for spacing right now. Remove the legs when everything is attached.
Grab your 17" board and your LUS24Zs. The 17" board should squeeze in nicely right in the middle, turning your blocky 0 into a blocky 8. Straighten out your LUS24Zs if needed (mine were bowed outwards too much), set them down over the ends of the 17" board, and use 4 screws each to attach them to the sides of the 38" boards. Now grab your long 3" nails and use two on each LUS24Z, installing them at a 45° angle into the remaining holes. They'll nail at an angle into the 17" board and go straight through into the 38" board.
Flip everything over such that the plywood board is now resting good-side-up on top of the mostly-complete frame, with the whole thing resting on the rounded bottoms of the RTC2Zs. Center the frame between the left and right sides of the plywood (should be ½" overhang on each side); let the plywood's back overhang ½" off the back of the frame, and its front overhang 3½" off the front. Now use the 1½" common nails to nail in the plywood into the frame. I used four lines of nails, one for each outer board; measurements are in the second photo above.
OPTIONAL: Apply a final polyurethane coat over the nail heads. This will need a day or two to dry.
Screw the feet into the ends of the legs. See the third photo above for a reference. Try to make the feet as straight and snug as you can get them.
Insert the legs into the holes left from step 1. The short legs go in on the front side, and the long legs go in on the back side. You should have a bench that tilts slightly forward, to allow for water to drain into the tub. Use some sort of material as a spacer as necessary to adjust each leg to level out the bench. Don't be afraid to introduce gaps between the legs and the plywood; the metal connectors are what hold the weight. Once everything is nice and level, use six screws on each leg to attach then to the RTC2Zs.
Apply your rubber-foam stripping. I applied stripping all along the length of my tub's ledge AND along the underside of my bench.
Tumblr media
And you're done! Your bench will look different than the photo above, I hadn't yet added the stripping, the wooden dowel siding, or the feet. And perhaps you chose a different stain color, or made your legs out of pressure-treated wood! In any case, this thing is built like a tank (made with actual home framing materials) and shouldn't break easily. I hope it serves you well!

"I um... have stashes of clothes in strategic places around the city. Completely weatherproofed and stuff," Peter explained with a small shrug. Not that he'd done it often, but the adjustment between someone not knowing and then knowing was always a little weird. And it seemed to be even more so with Harry, given that he was the one he'd kept in the dark the longest...
"One of the benefits of being able to get to places others can't. Two buildings down from yours there's a water tank that hasn't been used in years- sprung a leak and the owners decided to get a different line rather than repair it. That sorta thing."

Year-Round Chic: How to Style Men's Waxed Jackets for Any Season
Tumblr media
In the dynamic world of men's fashion, waxed jackets stand out as timeless pieces that seamlessly blend functionality with style. Originally designed for the rugged outdoors, these jackets have evolved into versatile staples suitable for any season. Speedwear Ltd, a purveyor of fine motorcycle jackets, offers a guide on how to style men's waxed jackets throughout the year, ensuring you look effortlessly stylish whether it's spring, summer, fall, or winter.
Spring: The Layered Look
As the snow melts and the greenery blossoms, spring calls for lighter layers that can handle the unpredictable weather. Pair your men's waxed jacket with a lightweight, breathable cotton shirt and a pair of rugged jeans for a casual day out. For chillier mornings, add a thin merino wool sweater underneath. Complete the look with waterproof boots and a MULTIFUNCTIONAL HEADWEAR from Speedwear Ltd to protect against the spring breeze.
Summer: Effortlessly Cool
Summer styling with a waxed jacket might seem counterintuitive, but a lightweight version can be your go-to piece for cool summer evenings. Opt for a waxed jacket in a lighter shade to reflect the sun's rays, paired with a breezy linen shirt and cotton chinos for a comfortable, yet put-together look. Accessories like sunglasses and a lightweight scarf will add a touch of sophistication. Loafers or boat shoes will keep the outfit relaxed and season-appropriate.
Fall: Rustic Charm
Fall is perhaps the most natural season for styling men's waxed jackets, thanks to their durability and warmth. Layer your jacket over a flannel shirt and a woolen vest for added insulation. Dark denim or corduroy pants will complement the rustic aesthetic of the jacket. Sturdy leather boots and a thick-knitted hat will keep you warm, and for an extra touch of style, consider a leather backpack for your daily essentials.
Winter: Insulated and Stylish
In the heart of winter, your waxed jacket can still serve as a stylish outer layer over protective motorcycle gear. Choose a jacket with a quilted lining for additional warmth or layer over a thick wool sweater. Pair with thermal leggings under your jeans and waterproof winter boots. Don't forget a warm hat, gloves, and a scarf to keep the cold at bay. For motorbike enthusiasts, incorporating motorbike riding jackets underneath provides both style and safety.

Barbarian Bumwarmer/Thermal Tassets
I told y'all about my tassets, right? This post made me realize I may not have posted this here. And if I have, well, it's cold season again so you get to see them again.
I have noticed that even when wearing long coats while out walking, in the very coldest parts of winter, my butt and thighs still get really cold with prolonged hiking. I had also, at time of their creation, recently come into possession of a coat that was quite warm but kind of short in the body. I wanted a solution to my cold butt problem, so I made one!

This badboy is made of polar fleece, outdoor upholstery fabric, and faux fur. The pockets sandwiched between the inner and outer layer are also made of fleece, so they're nice and warm and cozy and big enough to hold my phone. Belt loops made from the outer fabric keep it in place, and the faux fur pulls double duty looking of sick as hell and also keeping my belly/butt/lower back warm when belted on.

The mirror photos don't make it clear but I literally just run a belt through the loops and wear the whole thing secured over my clothes, but under my coat. I chose the plaid pattern because it's fairly neutral and looks neat poking out from under a black coat, but you can make the outer fabric anything so long as it's stiff enough to support the fleece layer and/or relatively weatherproof (ie. I chose outdoor upholstery because of the stiff weave and slight water resistance. Cotton with heavy interfacing would probably do as well.)
Final dimensions on this guy ended up about 38" x 28" (97 x 71cm), I'm 5'3" with moderately wide hips for my height, so this one was made-to-measure for me by me. The goal was to cover from the small of my back down to my knees, so if you want to make one with about the same coverage, your measurements should be from about just below your bust, down to your knees (this adds some extra length for the folded-over bit at the top, the "effective"/folded length is from about your belly button down to your knees).

Darktober 6
"... Bridget led me away from the big grand entry at the front of the mansion, to a smaller section around the back by the garage, with a very nice but significantly less grandiose entry door. "Guest house, originally," Bridget told me. "Mrs. Elizabeth likes it better here than in the main house. Can't say I blame her." She rang an old-fashioned bell by the doorway. I heard a distant "Come in!" from inside. Bridget obliged, and I followed.
We came into a little entry room (I think they call it a foyer?), paved with old tile covered with a large and covertly weatherproof rug. There was an old stairway on one side, and a large set of wooden double doors in the wall facing the entry. Lining the walls were portraits - portraits of the Collins family, I can only assume. Some were newer, clearly from the last century, and others were far, far older. They all shared the same dark hair and eyes (with only one or two exceptions), and a general air of grave regality - like they were going off to war right after their portrait sitting or something. It was so strange to just casually walk near them like they were just everyday house decorations, and not original historical pieces of art that belonged at the Louvre.
Bridget left my suitcase at the stairway, going to knock on the double doors.
"For heaven's sake, Bridget, why are you being so polite? Come barge in like you always do, you're giving the poor girl strange ideas about us."
Bridget grinned, opening the door.
Behind them lay a disarmingly cozy living-room. It looked nothing like the rest of the house, except for the stonework floors. Plush rugs, old but cushy-looking furniture, modern family photos now occupying wall space instead of regally painted portraits. At the center of it all was a large fireplace with a carved mantle, and before the fireplace...
....stood a woman. A petite, dark-haired woman, wearing plain, comfortable clothes, holding a steaming mug of bergamot tea that filled the room with its bright scent. She looked to be somewhere in her mid-forties, lines creasing her tanned face, eyes a deep, cool green. She was a good foot shorter than me, but there was something in the way she held herself as she turned to look at me with those calm, cool eyes that made me immediately stand up as straight as I could, ready to obey orders, listen to every word she had to say.
She locked eyes with me, and her cool expression immediately cracked into the sweetest, warmest smile I had ever seen. "Welcome to Collinwood, Victoria." she said. "I'm so glad you're here. I'm Elizabeth Collins."

Me, you, and the five cubic tons of sand between us
En route to Amnoon, Sigmund gets lost in the desert during a sandstorm and is not having fun!
Short thing abt his struggles with his disability and the bad thoughts that come with it, all in the most optimal place to be for it. smiling emoji.
Sigmund struggled to breathe in the desert heat, coughing and sputtering. His chest heaved as he attempted to catch his breath, finding it challenging to keep pace with the rest of the warband who had long since been missing from his sight. The relentless sand, propelled by the wind, pelted his face and the cloth covering his mouth offered only minimal relief from it.
He cursed the sand, but the scorching heat was even more unbearable. Whether it was the dust or the hot air, each step forced him to pause and rest. What would be one breath for most people translated to three for Sigmund, escalating to six in the harsh environment. Despite the pain that stung his legs, he preferred worrying about his breathing over the agony spreading throughout his body that his condition was eager to provide. They had been on foot for far too long and his body begged for a respite.
Amnoon wasn't far away, and though the dust storm was hellish, he anticipated reuniting with Horncleaver and his own sire soon. His only regret was losing sight of Augustus. This drove him to push himself, to persist through the torment, as the fear of being lost alone in the vast desert haunted him.
As the seconds dragged on like minutes and the minutes felt like hours, Sigmund didn't hesitate to enter the first shallow cave he stumbled upon. He needed a break to avoid collapsing in the midst of the sands, vulnerable to becoming prey for a Hydra. While he could handle a drake or two that might occupy the shelter, fortune favored him and none were present.
"I'll wait out the storm; Augustus will reunite with Horncleaver and hopefully they'll be waiting for me." Sigmund murmured as he untightened the bracers around his arms and the greaves around his legs. The rejuvenation mechanisms he developed to provide periodic relief from his disability had jammed during the storm, making him begrudgingly acknowledge Taimi's wisdom about weatherproofing his gear. Sigmund dearly wished she were by his side right now, tinkering with his armor as they were accustomed to, even if it meant admitting his friend was right and needing to endure her teasing about it.
Another hiss escaped him as he attempted to unjam his gear, an electric shock coursing through his paw. The operational lights on the piece of gear finally died out, and he couldn't hold back a scream. Frustration overwhelmed him as he threw the fried tech across the cave. The pain became unbearable, and he gazed at the sandstorm outside, contemplating if lying down and succumbing to the elements would have been a preferable alternative, at least he wouldn't have to worry about this anymore. The thought crossed his mind often, and his imagination ran wild with scenarios, realizing he'd make a more enticing meal than a soldier. That wouldn't make August very happy, however, so with a grunt, Sigmund vows to fight again.

I don’t want to start a fight on the specific post because like I respect the poster and the people reblogging it but. When people say pleather is just plastic as like a complaint about the marketing and they don’t make the same fuss about polyester, first of all pleather is a much lower quality material than polyester; it degrades quickly and in a much more obvious and unpleasant way than other plastic textiles. And also like people are making a fuss about polyester! The fact that it is so difficult to get reasonable-quality and affordable clothes made of materials that degrade relatively gracefully in the environment after a long service lifetime for a reasonable amount of money is something that everyone is annoyed about all the time.
But pleather is even more annoying, above and beyond other plastic textiles, because the thing it is purporting to replace is such a good material absent environmental and ethical considerations. Things made from prepared animal skins are frequently more durable, weather-resistant, comfortable, and better-fitting than any comparable alternative. Leather shoes stretch over time to exactly fit your feet! leather jackets can be maintained and weatherproofed reliably at home using cheap materials repeatedly for an entire human lifetime without falling apart.
I can’t say that leather is worth the moral, ethical, and spiritual cost of industrial animal agriculture. But it is absolutely the case that pleather is an egregious con against society at large to sell us more, worse textile goods made of fossil fuels rather than developing an economy that can actually provide everyone with high quality textile goods
