Encountered checkout face-cams at Walmart for the first time today.
Boring fucking dystopian shit.
Glad I had a hat and shades on. Never not wearing a mask in public for sure, now. Might need some printed with facial features or hard dark/light patterns to mess with recognition software, just for good measure.

I know "60s housewives who invented slash fanfiction" has taken on a life of its own as a phrase, but Kirk/Spock didn't really exist until the 70s and THOSE WOMEN HAD JOBS. They were teachers and librarians and bookkeepers and scientists and they damn well spent their own money going to conventions, printing zines, buying fanart and making fandom happen. Put some respect on their names.

Started March 5, 2022. Finished April 29, 2024.
Raven Beak's mother was a, uh. Character. In her twilight years. Very proud of her son, very competitive. She never lived to see him lead their people, but she was confident he had it in him.

WIP Meme
Tagged in a WIP meme by @robinainthood
I... don't really have a current WIP right now? I mashed through a bunch of JJK fics since the start of the new year and then called it done for a bit for the sake of finishing some course work.
I guess the current WIP is the old WIP, then. I need to get back to Electrochromic and finish up "Prussian Blue." But I kind of feel like I've written myself into a corner there, so it's been difficult to figure out my next steps. Maybe I need to get back to playing some Metroid material to jostle the inspiration loose.
I suppose I also have a bunch of notes and ideas for more JJK material but I also feel like I've taken a long enough break from Electro that I really should get back to it...
(No tags, I don't want to bug anybody after a lackluster answer.)

Ross Scott is on the warpath to keep publishers from killing online-only games and you guys can help!
Folks in Australia, Brazil, Canada, the US, France (especially), the UK, and the EU at large can help the most here. Especially if you purchased a copy of Ubisoft's The Crew. Using a multi-pronged initiative to take Ubisoft to task over killing a flagship game, Ross is hoping to get legislature passed to end the bad habit of publishers killing online games altogether.
Be aware that not all the petitions on the site are active right now, and this initiative will need some patient monitoring. But some of the government petitions (the legally binding kind of petitions, the good ones) signature requirements are really low! Australia only needs 50 sigs and Canada only 500! The UK needs 10k, and if we want to be really ambitious, the EU general petition needs 1 million, but the petition runs for a whole year.
PLEASE pass this along if you even remotely care about video games or consumer rights or media preservation. I'm not some big name blog and I don't have a lot of reach but I have faith in Ross's campaign if it gets the attention it deserves.

Infinitely grateful to the brave IT vanguard who write the guides on fixing all of Windows's bullshit quirks.
Took me about 5 tries to get my "memory integrity" kernel stuff working bc I made the mistake of installing ancient drivers for my ancient pen tablet before setting up the kernel, thus preventing me from doing so because apparently incompatible drivers keep this from happening.

Digging this up to add: If you are on the Home edition of Windows 11 (or you skipped the OOBE step above bc you forgot to find this post while installing your OS), you do not automatically have Group Policies installed or enabled.
HOWEVER, This site here (ITECHTICS) has step-by-step instructions and a safe batch file to install the Group Policy Editor, then you can use this post's instructions to turn off all the intrusive recommendation crap and tailor your experience once gpedit is installed.
I got a laptop with Windows 11 for an IT course so I can get certified, and doing the first time device set-up for it made me want to commit unspeakable violence
Windows 11 should not exist, no one should use it for any reason, it puts ads in the file explorer and has made it so file searches are also web searches and this cannot be turned off except through registry editing. Whoever is responsible for those decisions should be killed, full stop.
Switch to linux, it's free and it's good.

“Suguru never feels clean. It’s the price he pays for his technique, his body isn’t wholly his. It’s always covered in cursed residues. He’s used to it, but he’s also usually strict on his personal hygiene, as a way to reclaim himself from those beings.
Yet it’s been two weeks since he last showered. His skin feels wrong, yellow and sick, with patches of pimples on his shoulders. His hair is greasy, even pulled back in a ponytail his scalp itches.”

So we all know that Tumblr is US-centric. But to what degree? (and can we skew the results of this poll by posting it at a time where they should be asleep?)
Reblog to increase sample size!

I wonder if anyone has done a fake-video-game creepypasta type unfiction thing that uses the explanation that the game needed always-on-internet. like, it needs servers, and they're long since shut down.
So it'd explain why you haven't heard of the game and can't play it: it's no longer in existence.
So you could either have it be that the story is about finding old videos of a game that no one can play anymore, or you can have them be someone trying to bring it back, like recreating the servers and finding Strange Things there
