people who hate gilmore girls characters because they're classists are so fucking funny to me because that entire show has classism baked into it. it's like you all just forgot how the maids are treated in that show.

Javelin Wasp (Gasteruption jaculator)
Family: Carrot Wasp Family (Gasteruptiidae)
IUCN Conservation Status: Unassessed
What appears at first glance to be an intimidatingly large stinger protruding from the elongated abdomen of this unusual-looking species of wasp is actually an ovipositor, a tube-like egg-laying structure seen only in females. The great length of a female Javelin Wasp’s ovipositor is an adaptation that aids her in reaching into the burrows in which solitary bees and other species of solitary wasp lay their eggs alongside a supply of pollen to sustain their larvae upon hatching; after mating a female will stretch her ovipositor down through the entrance of her host’s burrow and lay her eggs on the eggs and young larvae within. Upon hatching the larval Javelin Wasps feed on both their host larvae and on the pollen stored for their benefit before pupating and emerging as fully mature winged adults shortly afterwards. Widely distributed across temperate grasslands and meadows throughout Asia and Europe, adults of this species live for only a few months between March and September and (despite their carnivorous start in life) are purely herbivorous, feeding mainly on the nectar of plants in the carrot family.
