A gentle reminder for all critters

Everyone and I mean every single person in the group Vox Machina is QUEER. No one is straight!

Vax’ildan is practically the poster child for bisexual disaster for this whole party. He’s flirted with: Gilmore, Percy, both of the Briarwoods in the incident that earned him the said title bisexual disaster, and Keyleth who became his partner.

Vex’ahlia is probably also bisexual based on encounters with Keyleth and possibly also Zahra.

Keyleth is demi and possibly also bisexual/pansexual based on her encounters with Vex’ahlia.

Percy is bisexual/pansexual. He’s been kissed by both Vex’ahlia and Vax’ildan, and been flirted with by Taryon Darrington which he didn’t mind and the two of them became friends afterwards.

Scanlan is pansexual. He’s been with multiple genders according to campaign and the show. He also flirts with Percy at one point under the effects of a charm effect which could only happen if you were attracted to the gender of the person.

Pike is bisexual/pansexual. According to campaign, she has spent time with women.

Grog probably also falls somewhere under demiromantic or possibly aromantic. He’s not really into romance altogether, but he enjoys sex with people of the opposite gender from him.

Taryon is gay. He has had a prior relationship to a man and confessed to being in love with Percy. He does not care for romantic or sexual relationships with women.

I know it’s been some time since we’ve seen them all during their romantic relationships but they are all queer. And just because most of them ended up in relationships with people of the opposite gender from them does not make them being queer less valid. They are in queer relationships and denying it and saying they’re straight is erasure of the identities each member belongs to.

You are Keyleth of the Air Ashari

You left home very young and naive on a quest you never expected to undertake, all because your mother left on the same quest years ago and never returned.

You meet a bunch of worldly idiots who become your best friends and your family. Together you save the capitol city and the monarchy and are given a keep and status in a place very far away from your home.

You liberate a city from vampires and help your best friend be able to go home again.

A quarter of your civilization is nearly wiped out by a massive red dragon bent on world domination. Your new home is nearly destroyed, too.

You fall in love with a beautiful boy.

You go on another quest with your friends, your family, to find the weapons that will let you defeat the dragons.

The beautiful boy gets sad.

You fight and kill the dragons, leaving the land safe to rebuild and giving you time to finish your quest. This also confirms your mother is dead.

You get to bring the beautiful boy home with you and spend time learning how to lead your people. It was never something you expected to have to do, but you're also different than you expected to be.

You leave home on a week's vacation and end up having to imprison a god.

The beautiful boy dies.

You go home again after saving the world and losing so much. It takes time to rest and recover, to try to heal. Time goes on. You love your home and your people and eventually it becomes less hard to get out of bed every morning.

Your mother, long thought dead, comes home.

You are attacked by mysterious assailants, devastating your village and also leading to another long recovery. You send a grieving widower out to try to discover the truth of what happened. You know it takes time to heal.

You help the widower recover one of his friends (the vessel of one of your arch enemies) from the jaws of death.

You find out the truth behind the attack, and realize the world needs saving yet again. You go to try to save it and then know, finally, why they attacked you years ago.

You were bait. The beautiful boy saves you but gets trapped and used as the key to start the apocalypse.

You send the widower and his friends to the moon to try to get vital information so you can stop the evil wizard from ending the world. Again. They are able to communicate with you briefly but the message is cryptic. They disappear again.

You wait with your army. All you ever seem to do is wait.

You are Keyleth of the Air Ashari and you are so very, very tired.

Oh no. Oh no i just thought of how they could do the actual canon Scanlan death in TLOVM.

In this episode, he had big huge emotional death flags moments. But then when he stepped up and looked like he died, he immediately went "haha! Fooled you into confessing your love! Aren't i silly :3"

What if the opposite happens in the Raishan fight. What if the fight happens, everyone's gunning in on it. Hell, maybe they put death flags on someone else! But Scanlan is 100% in the background, kicking ass. Zero fanfare. He gets hit, but the camera doesn't focus on it.

Raishan is defeated. Hell yeah, everyone's cheering! Hey, where's Scanlan? Oh, found him, he's lying by the rock. Haha, he's faking dead again. Battle's over, silly, we know you're just trying to prank us again. Come on, wake up.

Wake up. Scanlan. Scanlan this isn't fucking funny.

ok not to lifespan angst all over the place but osysa's taunting specifically at keyleth is going to make me scream and die and explode, like

not to say that everyone else's plotlines get resolved perfectly or that they don't still hurt or that there isn't further growth that happens post campaign, but...vex gets her lady vex'ahlia moment. vax necessarily learns to let go of vex, both in a physical, permanent way, and in accepting percy's place in her life. scanlan will get his "what's my mother's name" moment. pike gets to fight side by side with sarenrae before all this is over. and percy, against all odds, gets his quiet life.

and keyleth completes the aramente, sure, and everyone is proud as fuck...and then she proceeds to haunt the narrative forever. lineage in a lifetime. idk, man, there's just something extra bittersweet to me in her contending with this forever. keyleth will literally live to see vox machina become legends, and perhaps her fate is the only one that osysa pronounces with a little bit of sympathy. perhaps for a moment she thought of her mate and the indefinite distance between them, and she saw something she recognized.

Just some thoughts on Ashton's choices tonight...

That was a lot, and I'm seeing ppl feeling a lot of different ways about it (and all of those are definitely valid feelings after this roller coaster)...but what else were they gonna do?

Everyone agreed that the shard was either going to Ashton or Fearne and Fearne had just told him she.didn't.want.it. Plus, in 4 sided dive this week, Ashley explained exactly why she/Fearne was afraid to have the shard. Yes, they 100% should've told the group what was happening and planned better. HOWEVEVR the last time everyone was talking about the shard, most of the group was kinda pushing Fearne to take it so she and Ashton could be emperor and empress.

I think Ashton had the wrong motivations for the most part, and it was risky as shit, but with Fearne adamantly not wanting the shard, I get it. Also, it's a very in-character choice whether you like that character trait or not. I personally loved the big move that even Matt wasn't expecting.

It was a HUGE swing, just like Vax running after a dragon alone, Grog pulling from the deck of many things in the last moments of a campaign, Jester trying to pull one over on a powerful hag using a cupcake and some magic dust everyone else had forgotten about, or Caleb pulling out the beacon for the Bright Queen. It's not like Tal is the first one to take a big dangerous swing that could've ended badly for everyone. He's not even the first one to make a big swing like that with no real plan after step 1: do the thing.

All of those moments go down as memorable and sometimes even amazing once they worked out/the stress level was down, and I think this one will too.

Side shout out: That druid-cleric healing tag team work from Ashley and Sam was some of the smartest/most resourceful DnD I've seen at their table. They really pulled it out and did the impossible with a huge assist from Aabria.

I also haven't been this stressed over a DnD game in years, and never for one that I wasn't playing in. I can't WAIT for next week!

when i say that I absolutely adore Mr. Percival Fredrickstein von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III after the Briarwood arc I mean it because like what a turn around as a character. he had a little exorcism and now he thinks he’s hot shit pining after Vex and being mentally (kinda) ok while the twins, Grog, Scanlan, and Keyleth are losing it. “oh, Thordak’s here and Kevdak’s back and you have a long lost daughter and ¼ of your civilization was decimated? that’s cool lol i have a castle and my sister’s not dead :D” like. my god. i love post-Orthax Percy so much. no thoughts head empty. that bitch is gonna stumble into a tomb so free and easy he will forget the most important rule of dnd rules. rampant hubristic dumbassary.
