Urmila Matondkar hails Vikrant Massey’s performances in 12th Fail as “National Award-worthy”; here’s how he REACTED

Acclaimed actress Urmila Matondkar has joined the chorus of praise for Vidhu Vinod Chopra's film 12th Fail, particularly impressed by Vikrant Massey's performance. On social media, she declared both the film and Massey "deserving of national awards."

12th Fail, released in October 2023, tells the inspiring story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, a man who climbed through extreme poverty to become an Indian Police Service officer. Starring Massey and Medha Shankr, the film has already garnered critical acclaim and audience appreciation.

Matondkar took to Twitter (previously X) to express her admiration, writing, "Uff yeh film..so so many things to appreciate,cheer and love about it! Only @VidhuChopraa could’ve spun a story in such simple n deeply soul searching manner! Outstanding performances by all @VikrantMassey shining the brightest Both him n film are deserving of national awards."

Her praise didn't go unnoticed. Massey, a self-proclaimed fan of Matondkar, responded with humility and gratitude as he tweeted, "Thank you so much ma’am. I’m a bit tongue-tied and star-struck! Been your admirer like millions. But to get your post today surely makes my day. Thank you again."

Matondkar's review adds significant weight to the growing buzz surrounding 12th Fail and Massey's performance. Earlier, celebrities like Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt, and Deepika Padukone heaped praise on the film.

It is now Alia Bhatt who has praised the movie 12th Fail which features Vikrant Massey in the lead role, previously, actor Katrina Kaif and Hrithik Roshan commended the movie on their respective social media account and congratulated the lead actor and team. Now Alia took to her Instagram account and posted a story where she posted the poster of the movie 12TH Fail along with a message that she is completely in love with the movie after watching it.

12th Fail is earning great appreciation from the Bollywood fraternity and beyond. Actors Hrithik, Katrina, Kangana Ranaut, and Vijay Deverakonda are a few who praised the movie on their social media accounts. The film also earned great appreciation from Kamal Haasan, Rishabh Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Farhan Akhtar, and Anil Kapoor.

Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, 12th Fail is a movie based on the real-life story of a UPSC aspirant. It showcases the struggles of a UPSC aspirant who comes from a Hindi-medium background.

Vikrant Massey Is Excited And Yet Nervous To Share Screen Space With Deepika Padukone In Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak

Recently, first look of Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak has been unveiled to the audience through social media. In this movie, Vikrant Massey has been casted opposite Padmavaat actor Deepika Padukone. By looking at Deepika as Malti who is an acid attack victim, audience has been stumped completely. Resemblance between Deepika Padukone and Laxmi Aggarwal can be found here also on whose life the movie is based upon. Laxmi is a survivor of acid attack.  Both the Bollywood celebrities as well as the audiences are quite impressed with the look of Deepika Padukone in this movie. In addition, Deepika has also announced that release date of the movie Chhapaak will be 10th January, 2020. Meghna Gulzar is the director of Chhapaak who has last helmed the movie Raazi. In this movie, fresh pairing of Vikrant Massey and Deepika Padukone will be seen.

Vikrant Massey has acted in the movies like Lipstick Under My Burkha, A Death in the Gunj, Half Girlfriend and Dil Dhadakne Do in the past. In the movie Chhapaak, Vikrant will be seen as a social activist named Alok Dixit who later on turns out to be love interest of Deepika Padukone aka Malti also. Shooting for this movie has been started by Vikrant from 20th March.

During a chat, Vikrant has shared his feeling on working with the Piku actress Deepika Padukone. Vikrant has said, “Working with an actress of her calibre is not just an opportunity but also a huge responsibility. I’m both nervous and excited.”

In addition to his co-star Deepika Padukone, 31 year old Vikrant Massey has talked a little about his character also. He has said, “Alok has been working with acid attack survivors for a while now and has been through the entire struggle with Laxmi. The film will showcase interesting dynamics between the two”.

On the occasion, Vikrant has also said that he has been eating almost everything at the moment as he needs to put on some weight for his role in Chhapaak. He has been consuming sweets, saturated fat and even junk food. Till now, he has gained about 8kg of weight.  In the course of time, he requires to put on 2 to 3 kg more.
