We don't talk enough about how cunning Aki and Haru were in the s2 finale against Yumoto.
They basically break him physically in the start. Easily overpowering him by their pure (petty) hatred
Then when they're interrupted, the twins know they have to change strategies with more physical force to try to keep Gora for themselves. Haru basically mocks Yumoto here, to in a way, distract him from his end goal of saving Gora.
By wearing Yumoto down, physically and mentally, Aki and Haru decide to unleash the thing they know would fully break him, which is losing Gora.
They do this sort of unintentionally, and end up panicking as they realize how they shouldn't have fucked with this kid. Even Atsushi notes on how sensitive Yumoto's own emotions are and how Yumoto's would overpower the twins'
I can't give the twins all of that credit but, I think they had a decent plan thought up when they would be fighting the Battle Lovers. They just didn't know what powers Yumoto's own emotions actually held.
But, I can at least say, this finale could have been a lot darker

I just finished watching the VEPPer live on bilibili and MY GOSH I HAVE NEVER FELT SO MANY THINGS SO STRONGLY, I NEED TO RANT
I definitely wanna get the blu-ray more now lol, I wanna see them epically in hq
(Spoilers for the live under the cut. Watch this thing if you haven’t, PLEASE)
The introduction was so cool with the outline of their profiles and the shining letters appearing before them!
They stayed in character for I think more than an hour of the live, both in dancing and talking... It was so impressive to see them not make mistakes with it, and Koumoto-san had to improvise for a minute while Murakami-san got his hat secured again
I’m amazed they didn’t get the names wrong at all, but they did get stuff wrong a couple times, and it was the funniest seeing them sumble on their words, immediately shut up and stare at the other like “Ugh not this shit again”
When they did anime scenes and all they were so synchronized??? Oh my god they were more in sync than a vocaloid file, I listened to them many times because their ability to speak in sync was so amazing!!
The entire audience shining with the colors of VEPPer... one of the shots taken most further from the stage showed so many people that it took my breath
OMG THEY DID MY FAVORITE FANSERVICE THING, LIKE PUTTING THEIR HANDS AND FOREHEADS TOGETHER, I LOVE THAT SO MUCH
I had seen so little from these guys that, after just watching the LOVE! Live, I was expecting VEPPer’s to be, like, just fine. Like yeah, I’ll like it because I like Boueibu and its characters- WELL I WAS SO WRONG!!!! I was having fun from the start, but after seeing them perform Moon the Jealousy and Sun the Festival and hearing Murakami-san run out of breath, it hit me that I was comparing this to idol animes I like where there’s more idols that perform separatedly and have more time to rest. VEPPer somehow delivered an amazing performance from beginning to end, from their voices being very stable most of the time, to the many acrobatics and intense dancing- and only being able to rest when doing a costume change! Not to mention dancing on heels, which I can’t even walk on! I can’t believe how amazing this live was, it completely blew my expectations away!
Koumoto’s Moon the Jealousy didn’t stay in my mind a lot, but it caught my attention because he was so elegant!
Murakami did such a good job in Sun the Festival that I was seriously doubting he was out of breath. I initially thought he wasn’t because otherwise he was doing a great job. It was strange to see the cool Haru-sama being all genki though, haha
Murakami leaning his head on Koumoto’s shoulder, Koumoto then doing the same thing, and then both of them putting their hands together
THEY DID MY THING AGAIN AND THIS TIME THEY FULLY LEANED IN AND MURAKAMI LOOKED A BIT SHORTER THAN KOUMOTO AAAAAA
The back dancers having their own performance and slowly getting the audience into it, to finish epically introducing VEPPer in their galaxy idol costumes!!
Those costumes were so sparkly that I had to remind myself to look more at their faces instead of them. When not moving, the golden sequins were reflected on their faces!
The entire call and response! The questions about their most hated foods were so unexpected and funny haha
Murakami yelling “SHUT UUUUUUUUP” at the audience lmaoooooooo
Also Murakami explaining the choruses for WE ARE GALAXY IDOL the audience laughing a bit and him going “The hell you laughing at?!”
The audience singing Dadacha’s part on WE ARE GALAXY IDOL, both times!
Star The VEPPer with the sparkly costumes was amazing to see~ They did a little lean back like partners dancing, and also THEY DID MY THING AGAIN WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
The repeated songs sounded better on the second time! I think the seiyuus were nervous at first awww
For the encore, they finally broke character and introduced themselves! It was strange to see the difference between cool anime VEPPer and happy irl VEPPer, but I liked how genuine they were and how much fun they looked like they were having
The most emotional song was saved for the encore... I thought Murakami-san was just singing passionately before he suddenly broke down crying, and my heart grew bigger when I realized he was supposed to sing “Thank you, fate. We met for the first time, didn’t we?” Since it was their first solo live, the lines were so fitting... Koumoto-san came to comfort him later with a hug...
Murakami had to keep the sadistic tsundere character for so long that he burst into tears as soon as he stopped because of all the emotion
I didn’t understand it too well but I think they said Koumoto’s parents came to the live to watch and found them in the audience to wave at them... That was so amazing and wholesome
Koumoto blew a kiss at Murakami!
Koumoto first and Murakami later, both did that thing idols do of thanking the audience without using the microphone. I know it from Aikatsu lives and it warms my heart so much every time I see it
They walked on stage holding hands for the second encore!
At some point they were both sobbing on stage unable to talk and there were 12 minutes of video left... I was wondering what would happen in that time, but my heart was so warm it had gone from solid to liquid to gas already
The seiyuus crying reminded me of when the characters did in ep12...
Murakami saying “Let’s see each other again soon... at the Second Live!!” was quite a slap to the face
They were both so close and comforted each other saying they didn’t want the live to end... The two encores were so emotional and beautiful
Everyone calling the cameraman, and the reactions to the Dadacha plushie were the cutest thing ever!!! I feel like even the cameraman knew everyone would love it so much, he looked so happy as well to be doing that
Conclusion: DADACHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I really want the VEPPer and Winter Tri-Angels to meet
Are they rivals? Were they active at the same time? Did one inspire the other? xD
#boueibu#fairy ranmaru#a star themed musical duo? I think it’s perfect#their music styles are also very similar haha#given Fairy Ran’s timeline though (weird as it is) Winter Tri Angels were likely active decades earlier#so I would like to think their universal popularity inspired Dadacha to model the VEPPer after them#or maybe the twins themselves were fans#(though they were probably too young so… maybe their dad was a fan and had tapes/cds)#(so since they were in a different galaxy and space music is very different)#(Winter Tri Angels was their only real example of popular Earth Music)#(and something something kids grow up listening to the things their parents like)#(something something they wanted their dad to notice them)#(something something I made it sad)#(but I do wonder what the Beppus relationship with their dad is like in the present day)#(given that they don’t mention him were very quick to stay on earth and were generally very screwed up psychologically in season 2)#(I would say it’s probably abysmal :))

winter 2024 first impressions: gekkan mousou kagaku
IT'S A MAGICAL BOYS ANIME BUT FURRY LET'S FUCKING GO
every season i need at least one thing that's kind of garbage but in a fun way, it's enrichment for me. and this is it i'm so hype for this little show that already looks absolutely absurd
going in i was not aware of the furry factor at all and i am THRILLED to see it lmao it's clearly shaping up to be a series that doesn't take itself too seriously which is exactly what i love
didn't really know anything going in except that miyawaki chizuru is directing (she's previously worked on gintama and boueibu) and that has me hopeful that this'll be just as delightfully unhinged (which so far it absolutely is)
it's not like completely filling the boueibu/fairy ranmaru hole in my heart (will we ever have another boueibu and/or fairy ranmaru... well time will tell) but it's definitely fun in a similar way. the transformations are not nearly as horny as the fairy ranmaru ones (but that could be said about any transformation scene ever, fairy ranmau u are my one and only) but the fact that they go full furry is just. incredible to me
delighted to heart yumoto's voice actor here... makes me miss boueibu all the more tho. shiraimu is also listed on the cast as the long sick dog (the borzoi) so i'm kind of expecting some sort of thing where like. the humans all go furry in their transformations and the dog ends up transforming into a human?? maybe??? would be hilarious

tl;dr great fun so far i wouldn't recommend it to anyone except those who can accept/enjoy anything (esp boueibu and fairy ranmaru enjoyers, pspsspss you will like this)

The best thing about the Boueibu CG Live is that it totally feels like something Wombat or Hireashi would force the boys to do. (The VEPPer are there of their own free will of course.)

Hadaka Shitsuji OST- Hadaka Shitsuji
Damn, it has to be one of my favourite vn openings of all time! I love to put it on to get in the mood to write/draw something lewd with the fantastic instrumental and lyrics!
2. Takuma Terashima- Perfect Crime Love Letter
I just sort of came across it one day, I haven't even watched or played whatever thing it's from. But it's sounds so neat, it's stuck in my head even though I can't remember the lyrics! Also it's a yandere song, so bonus points.
3. Star Rekt- I Wanted Janeway
The Chakoway song done to the tune of I Want It That Way! How can I not love that? All the lines are so amazing and the references to the episodes are cute. I can karaoke it flawlessly!
4. STUDIO LICO- Ruler of my Heart
Muse Dash added this song recently and it really caught my eye. Then I looked up what it translates into and I love it even more, gives me Saskotay vibes.
5. Cute High Earth Defense Club Love! Love! OST- ☆Star☆The☆VEPPer☆
Crunchyroll recommended this anime to me and I've been addicted ever since, all the character songs in it are really great but this one is just so catchy! Also Beppu twins best villain, sorry Diamant.

It's been [error variable undefined] days since I last Culture-posted, so here are some of my objectively correct opinions on Iain M Banks' fully automated luxury communist space utopia:
The most heartbreaking and poignant thing in the entire series happens in Matter.
The funniest bit is in Surface Detail, and it's Joiler Veppers' one-sided passionate loathing for the Culture ambassador to the Sichultian Enablement, whose unforgivable sins in his eyes include (checks notes) not being even remotely fuckable by his discerning standards; not wearing shoes; failing to show any deference to the fact he's the richest guy in his civilisation; insisting on treating a machine as if it were her colleague; and having a toddler who free-ranges through her workplace.
