Something something the way the bones/ashes of a ghost in TGCF work as a totem of love, bc they're literally the anchor of the soul on the mortal realm. Something something Palamedes trusting Camilla to take care of his remains in case he died, so he could come back, trusting her with his soul. Something something Camilla defending ferociously what little she could kept of him near her heart, lamenting she couldn't find the rest, keeping faith to the end.
This is a ghost love story. You could say the way remains and ghosts link is everywhere all over the world, but the specific way theyre a token of love in TGCF reminds me awfully of Camilla and Palamedes whole situation.
Hua Cheng says that if his ashes were destroyed (bc he knows xl enough to know it'd be only when xl is permanently dead and gone himself) (bc if xl doenst want him to remain in this world he won't...) it'd be OK. His soul, his very being on the hands of his beloved. The year of waiting by XL at the end, trusting HC will find his way home to him. Brr.

would love to know more about Stuart and wip #4 <3
I have so many thoughts about Stuart it's not even funny. I remember always being a bit fascinated with him in my original read of AFTG in 2019 because he is, and I say this with all the love in my heart, kind of an Uncle Ex Machina. And this year when I came back and did my reread (re-listen?) of the books that fascinaiton returned tenfolds.
The thing about Stuart that keeps getting me is that his original revenge plan against Nathan was insane. And the way that he went about it was even worse. Like, here is the list of steps he went through: 1) Found out Kengo was diyng, calculated that he could deal a blow to Nathan as long as it doesn't piss off the Moriyamas too much 2) Allied himself with the FBI, a foreign government agency, despite being himself the head of a criminal syndicate, even though that could have very easily gotten him branded as a narc 3) Planned to wait until Nathan was released, invade his house while he was killing someone, massacre his inner circle, and probably deliver a dramatic speech as he beat up Nathan and left him for the FBI to find 4) Upon getting to point 3, found his nephew being tortured, confirmed his sister was dead, and promptly changed his plans to kill Nathan on the spot 5) Has now broken his deal with the FBI and permanently removed a Moriyama asset instead of just incapacitating him 6) Left his recently-tortured 19yo nephew to sort things out with the FBI and dipped back to England fully expecting to be executed by Ichirou 7) Somehow managed to talk himself out of this and not only stay alive but become an asset to a syndicate bigger and more powerful than his 8) Profit.
That is insane. He cannot keep getting away with this. How can a man with three appearences have this much chaos going on.
So this WIP is mostly an character study, following Stuart as he grieves Mary and tries to adjust to the changes being part of the Moriyamas bring. It is also about him trying to find out how far he can Manipulate Manspain Manwhore out of situations.
Reason number two behind this WIP was that I was actually surprised to find out that this entire fandom was sleeping on Ichirou/Stuart. They have like 19 tagged fics! That is a crime! Have we lost all respect for toxic yaoi?
I really like playing with foils and parallels and contrasts and in the process of plotting this fic I found a lot of them in the Stuart and Ichirou dynamic. For one, they do have a pretty big age gap (14 years in this fic), but while Stuart has all the experience, it's Ichirou who has all the power in their relantionship. Ichirou who has inherited an empire but is stuck in his father's shadow and Stuart who has an established reputation but lost all his autonomy. Stuart who risked everything to avenge his sisters and Ichirou who killed his brother.
Also, I have a pretty strict Death of the Author stance and thus don't consider Nora's tweets or the EC canon, but I do find the fact she said that eventually Ichirou gets Stuart killed in a suicide mission so he can get a younger head on the Hatford branch (and that Stuart knew that it was going to happen eventually and was fine with it) very intriguing. They are two very ruthless, manipulative people, and I want to play with them like barbie dolls.

Barbatos is the winds on a sunny day. The perfect type to fly a kite and sit in a field of grass. Its the type artists paint and photographers cherish.
Decarabian is the wind that blows against a person as they walk. The type of wind that unintentionally causes people to bump into each other. The type that pushes clouds and allows boats to sail.
Yet Ventus, the rebellious human, is the most like a hurricane. To mortals their god is incomprehensible. Devine. Alien. Unknowable. Unfathomable. The god of Mondstadt had been there since the very beginning and it was a fact he would be there til the end.
Yet Ventus thought otherwise. A hurricane that sought to destory the tranquil cage of the north. This boy is unhinged. He has the charisma of a leader, able to charm the citizens to create his rebellion. He is smart, able to plan and deduce when to strike. He is a threat but managed to successfully look 'harmless' because he's a visionless human. To the average person, they would be most scared of the heir of time or the wind tyrant rather than the usurper of the skies. A foolish mistake really

I realised that Ida is probably named after Mt Ida and now I'm annoyed she has literally one line ever because that's an awesome name. I need her entire family history! I need to know if she's got a cousin called Olympia or something, you know??? This is important!! (if only to me). Like, can you imagine if the legacies all just had themed names? Octavian's family goes with emperors (Octavian, Julia, Claudia etc.) and Ida's family? Mythological locations (mostly mountains). That would just be so fun.

Me: Haha would be fun to put all the various character traits together and see what I could come up with for reasoning, and maybe do a design, just for fun. Ya know, writing exercise and design muscle stretch.
Me, staring down an entire backstory and over 3K words of fiddling later: Awe fuck I got writer bit.
So, Hi @naffeclipse, I really like your funny fic and have various Brain Things that prevent me from fully inserting myself into the various Xreaders I end up poking my nose into because I'm a curious cat. so instead of doing my normal thing (Leave the Y/N be or rotate my guys into the slot for my amusement) I went and developed a whole guy about it, Scar chart and fullbody to maybe come, IDK when this is the first time I've draw in a month.
P.S, I think I'm *Very* funny with the last name

I was reading ur tags on your post about how sometimes the marauders (usually James or Sirius) are sometimes watching regulus do he devious little plots under the invisibility cloak with complete bafflement and misinterpreting all of it (them thinking he’s making moves on Lily is,,, delightful *chefs kiss), BUT you said that it doesn’t always come across in Reg’s POV, so perhaps…. If it pleases the court… you could maybe write a collection of one shots and snippets of marauder POV spying on Reg? It’s extra work (which u r no means obligated to do, this is just a thought) but it would be interesting to see the other side of things as events(tm) are unfolding.
Either way it is fully up to you, and just want to say I love how deeply intrenched your stories are with world building and how in your works even side/off-screen characters affecting the progression of the story for their own motivations.
Love you, keep up the work—take care of yourself 💜
literally every time i think about the marauders (or actually really mainly sirius) concluding that something is going on between regulus and lily i start laughing. sirius would be so appalled and also just SO CONFUSED and definitely be like 'lily wtf i thought you had standards'
(although, sirius will conclude, she WAS friends with snape for years. so like?????? what if she just likes slytherins??????? oh god james will be BROKEN on like every level by this, holy shit, sirius can NEVER TELL HIM--)
(james, casually looking at the marauders' map one night, as one does, letting his gaze fall on the astronomy tower: what the FUCK--)
i digress. anyway
extra stuff in that universe falls into the category of writing for me which is 'i might do it if inspiration strikes, but it's not something i'm going to ~formally work on~' - a lot of my 'side projects,' such as they are, are in different universes from atfhv because then i can switch up genre and style to shake up my brain. stuff like something sweeter that is in the atfhv universe tends to be a 48-hour fever dream in which i have an idea and then suddenly i have something new posted on ao3 - it's not something i really do with intention sfjlshglksfhk
that being said, i'm totally open to other people writing that sort of thing - i don't want to be the only person playing in the sandbox sjflkhsgkdfjhskj, so if you want to do more with this concept or other stuff inspired by ttdl, go for it! (as my list of works on ao3 should prove, i'm more than fine with covering the same concept more than once sjlsghkfj, so this applies even if i or someone else does write something)
