Funny thing is, I am willing to pay more for social media that's ad free. I actually did this somewhere other than Twitter (here, in fact, back when Twitter nonsense was heating up).
I'm not willing to pay $8 a month for Twitter that is "fewer ads", a feature that WAS free (tweetdeck), and some nice to haves that still don't make $8 worth it?
Seriously, $8 is streaming money.
I was about to make a joke along the lines of "stream this show, and we'll talk," but I can't even type that as a joke. If a show was stuck in "Twitter jail," I simply wouldn't watch it.
Side note, I follow trending in Japan, because I do not like trending, and the dislike about changes to Tweetdeck is international.
Which is to be expected, but I find it interesting nonetheless.

Google Keep (seit Juli 2015)
Google Drive (seit etwa 2006)

Terrible move, Elon
Elon Musk is continuing to kill the bird app. After limiting how many tweets people could view per day, he is now locking TweetDeck behind a fucking paywall.

TWEETDECK WORKS, LOL
Yeah, it's old news, but, with the main twitter site itself being broken and/or DDoS'ing on itself (and so Elon is flailing, making silly excuses), there is a solution if you want to tweet or something.
IF YOU ARE FROM TWITTER, and you don't wanna get rate-limited, well... Tweetdeck still works, and it has a browser version, too!
I detest tweetdeck's UI with a passion, but you also get: NO ADS.
https://tweetdeck.twitter.com
Remember that when adding a column, the "Home" timeline can toggle "Latest tweets first" when you click the sparkles in the upper right corner. So, do not worry! You will not have to live with the algorithmic timeline, at all!
I hate how Tweetdeck is laid out, but it's very useful if you use Lists a lot! This makes it easy to follow a timeline List of, say, artwork for specific a tag you like, or you're following a live-tweet of an event. It's particularly useful if you have multiple accounts and want to tweet on main or your other accounts, like a sideblog (your XIV twitter, for example), within easy access.

I seem to have been afflicted with new tweetdeck and twitterified tumblr ui tonight. What a horrible night to have a curse.
Please put things back where they were. Now.

questions i have as an overwhelmed twitter refugee working in social
i'll be reblogging/updating with information i learn in hopes it helps other new folks
i'm a big fan of tweetdeck and being able to sort my interests/communities into "lists."
is there an easy way to sort tags/blogs into similar categories or groups to scroll through? i want to avoid being overloaded by a bunch of interests + i also want a way to keep following mutuals, but not have their content dominate my feed if we have different interests.
how do i switch to where i can like and follow people from my other blogs and not just this one?
what is the easiest way to navigate the app?
mobile/desktop?
search/following/trending tabs?
if i like a certain aesthetic but don't know what the name/tag is, is there an easy way to find that? i feel like some of the tags i've saved (ex: #indie) are too broad for the types of photos/vibes that i want to see
thanks for taking the time to read. i appreciate all the help folks have offered so far, and i'm happy to be here! <3

Twitter has gone to shambles. I cannot use TweetDeck. How am I supposed to roleplay and do shit? it feels super weird to look at just one account and not the whole bunch of timelines working together at the same time...it's...disheartening.

I could end up forgiving Elon for ruining twitter, but I will never forgive him for ruining TweetDeck

Tweetdeck is officially only for paid users. I’ve barely been skimming my feed on it for the last couple of weeks, and not actively posting or engaging (likes, RTs) at all. I just tried to use Twitter in a browser and half my feed is filled with images that won’t load. I’ve said for ages that Tweetdeck was the only thing making the bird site usable. I think I might have to be completely done with that place. I miss my friends, and the occasional meme, but that cesspool is not good for my blood pressure.

So I just got told the news about tweetdeck. What the fuck is this shit.
Tumblr media
So let me get this straight, right
not only did they axe old tweetdeck, and with it: > Multiple accounts > Multiple timeline columns > multiple notification columns > Interacting with tweets from any account instantaneously > having all your dms in a nice little column > tweeting from any account instantly But they also are PAYWALLING the dying, armless and legless corpse of the tool they just hacked multiple times on the neck with a meat cleaver AND they have the audacity, the fucking gall to say THIS
Tumblr media
New and improved? NEW AND IMPROVED??
NEW AND IMPROVED????
IMPROVED???? YOU THINK THIS IS IMPROVED???
YOU THINK THIS IS BETTER????
HOW FUCKING DARE YOU.
THERE'S LESS SHIT!!!! YOU REMOVED FUCKING FEATURES!!!! THIS IS OBJECTIVELY WORSE!!!!!! DO YOU KNOW THE DEFINITIONS OF THE WORDS YOU FUCKING USE???? DO YOU. THINK THINGS BEFORE YOU SAY THEM???? OR DO YOU JUST SAY THEM AND PRAY TO GOD THEY STICK???
I should not be this pissed off by this, I made the full on switch to here months ago, I stopped checking twitter altogether a while ago, but this one stings on a very personal level. I've been using tweetdeck to roleplay on twitter all my fucking life. It was honest to god the only good fucking thing that shitass platform had. And now it's gone. And it's making me realize all those good memories I had will never be replicated again. No more live rping through the twitter timeline. No more doing it with multiple accounts at the same time. I already had no reason to stick around twitter. I was okay with that. Now I wanna delete all my accounts in protest. From the bottom of my ehart fuck E. Musk. Fuck this fucking pig. I have never seen a more catastrophic downfall of a platform in my LIFE. And I have seen MANY platforms go to shit. But this???? this is SPECTACULAR. This motherfucker killed something I used to love. I wish upon you pain and misery and anguish and despair, the worst suffering you could ever imagine. God. Ugh.

It appears to have been fixed now, but for a little while today, Tweetdeck (the only tolerable way to use Twitter), which is run by Twitter itself, appears to have gone down because whatever account is running it didn't pay for access to their own API.
