I know I harp on theater etiquette a lot but I go to the movies a lot and like every time I sit next to someone they are on their phones at least once even for 90 minute movies and then I’m looked at like an asshole when I ask for them to put it away and like it’s not hard to sit there for the run time and if you do find yourself getting antsy then uhhh leave! or turn your phone off! It’s that easy just turn it off!!! My movie experience shouldn’t have to suffer because your ability to focus has been shaved off by constant exposure to tiktok!!

when the vulcan peers down at the message notification on his datapadd, there are a few things he expects. updates on a few science experiments that are critical to his research on gene - spliced fauna, for example. perhaps a request for a performance review from captain pike, or number one, should they feel it necessary. an incoming, recorded transmission from his mother, even; or even more likely, t'pring, seeking to arrange a meeting at the enterprise's next stop for supplies. requests for his review on an ensign's report. requests for ship transfers that are always [ politely, but logically ] declined. what he does not expect, is this :

for a few moments, all spock can do is stare at the strange message. is it some manner of code that he is meant to decipher the true meaning of? was this message, perhaps, intercepted and altered without the captain's knowledge? could this be a ' prank ' from the enterprise bingo list? the possibilities range from harmless to nefarious, but no matter the cause, it is unsettling. he weighs the pros and cons of answering the message, in order to discern it's meaning -- and if it truly was an outside force, reveal their identity. however, in the end, spock elects take the most efficient course of action to stop this supposed virus at the source. without a word, he finds his way to the captain's quarters -- gains permission to enter, and commandeers pike's datapadd with the simple explanation of a security breach. it is true enough, and with spock's severe expression, the captain does not question it . . . even if he may like to. nodding to himself when he meets no resistance, the satisfaction he feels when depositing the datapadd in lieutant la'an noonian sigh's hands is palpable. " . . . please destroy this in the most effective manner of which you are capable. "
