#OTD in 1887 – Celtic Football Club was born in Glasgow.
A meeting in the church hall of St Mary’s parish in East Rose Street (now Forbes Street), Calton, Glasgow, established by Irish Marist Brother Walfrid, and while those present would have harboured well-intentioned ambitions for the new sporting organisation, none of them could ever have imagined that Celtic would go on to become one of the most famous names in world football.

irrefutable proof i am a druid:
likes trees, especially oaks
has a stick
is white-legged
always knows when it's going to rain
obsessed with spirals
owns a guitar with The Tree Of Life design winding up the neck
has three bars of reception on phone at any one time, obviously representing The Awen

I'm writing a Celtic-inspired fantasy, but I'm trying to think of a better way to describe it. I feel that "Celtic" invokes the people who use that word but they really just mean Irish, or people who think there is One Celtic Culture and Language.
For me, I've tried to be conscious of the fact that we aren't and have never been a homogeneous group like that. There are characters and areas that are Welsh-inspired, other characters and areas that are Irish-inspired, and so on. But they all live on the same landmass, and so they do sort of mix as well?
I don't know, part of me wonders if people would think I am homogenising either way, and if I should just stick to Wales and Welsh. But for now I'll settle for trying to find another way to describe it. "A Welsh, Cornish, Breton, Irish, Scottish, Manx-inspired fantasy" doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

The Celts - A Guide to Their Culture
Whenever you describe the Celts to many people, they think of Celtic warriors who passionately protected their homeland while simultaneously trying to expand and conquer new territory. This is the picture that comes to mind when you discuss the Celts. How
Whenever you describe the Celts to many people, they think of Celtic warriors who passionately protected their homeland while simultaneously trying to expand and conquer new territory. This is the picture that comes to mind when you discuss the Celts. However, this is just a small portion of what the Celts were all about since, in actuality, they had a highly complicated culture that requires…

Like the mushroom in the woods, we may appear to be a single entity, but we are invisibly connected by a network as wide as the forest floor.
