What if Terence D'Arby was in the Jojolands
Tumblr media
Who do you guys think each of them would main in mario kart (my headcanons under the cut)
Tumblr media
Jodio - Shy Guy (specifically the dark blue version)
Lowkey a pro at this game. Likes to challenge himself in time trials and knows all the best cart combinations. If there is a shortcut on the track, he WILL take it (and will almost always be successful). Actually enjoys Rainbow Road (the real reason for his psychopath diagnosis).
Tumblr media
Dragona - Pink Gold Peach (I could see them picking Daisy too)
Just there to have a good time tbh. At least most of the time, because every now and then when they're doing particularly well their competitive streak kicks in, and trust me – once they get into it, they get REALLY into it (cross them at your own risk). Favorite track is Cheep Cheep Beach.
Tumblr media
Paco - Bowser
He thinks gaming is dumb and a waste of time (definitely not because he sucks at it). On the rare occasion he does get convinced to play, he keeps bumping into walls and other players (it doesn't help that he picks one of the heaviest characters in the game). Known for notoriously running into banana peels. Gaming sessions usually end in him "inviting" the other players to the gym.
Tumblr media
Usagi - Luigi
Relates to Luigi on a personal level for being the underappreciated helper of the group. He's actually quite good at the game. His aim is freakishly accurate and he loves to hoard items to target other players (for unknown reasons they seem to hit everyone but Dragona). Similarly to Jodio, he takes shortcuts almost every chance he gets, but unlike Jodio, it doesn't always go so well. Also probably likes Baby Park like the freak he is.
Tumblr media
Charmingman - Dry Bones
Used to play with Mauka a lot, so he's surprisingly good, and can get quite competitive too. Drives solely on bikes, which give him some good ol' maneuverabilty to avoid all those damn banana peels Usagi keeps throwing around. Secretly loves the music tracks and sometimes listens to them while riding his bike irl, imagining himself to be in a race. Favorite item is Boo.

Can I request big dick! Uzui with a virgin reader?
Basically size kink and soft dom! Terence pretty please :)))))))
I hope your okay with this being a headcanon 🫶🏼
𝑇𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝐼𝑡
Tengen Uzui x Virgin fem! Reader
Cw: virgin reader, unprotected sex, soft dom! Uzui, size kink
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There no question that Tengen has a huge dick, this man is a fucking giant, his body was carved by the gods with such precise precision, amazing pec, massive muscles, and to go along with his god like body, a huge thick cock.
Standing at 9 inches, fully erected, his cock curves upwards perfect for hitting those right, big prominent veins down his shaft, a big angry red mushroom tip to match with the girth of his cock.
The first time you and Tegen got intimate it was without his wives, especially since you’re a virgin he didn’t want to overwhelm you with so many people with your first time.
He was so soft and intimate, he kissed your entire body, worshiping your body with so much love you forgot all about your insecurities
However it wasn’t until he sat you on your lap did you start feeling insecure, just by sitting on his cothed cock did you start to worry about how’d you take him in
Uzui seemed to sense your worry and gave gentle kisses to your earlobe
“Don’t worry my love I’ll make sure your ready, I’ll go slow and gentle” he whispered right beside your ear, it sent chills up your spine.
He started prepping you off with one finger, one finger alone was girthy. He already had you whining, soon he one finger became two and but the third you began to feel the stretch.
The pain began to come through by the fourth finger. However he had his way to distracted you, palming your tit with one hand and took your other tit in his mouth pinching and bitting your nipples he tugged at them which did favors to distracting you from the stretch his large fingers
Your hips began to rock the pleasure becoming blissful as your scissored you and curled his fingers into you, both hands now focused on making you climax, on hand thrusting his fingers in your cunt with the other rubbing your clit sending euphoric waves through you, your nipples perking as his mouth continued to do wonders on your breasts
Finally euphoria came crashing down as your dig your nails into his shoulders. “Tengen-Sama!” Your cried out riding your high as he continued to run your clit and thrust his fingers in you with no signs of stopping
Before you could say anything he pushed you down to the futon his fingers still in you covered in your slick and juices
Finally pulling his fingers out he sucked his fingers licking his fingers clean with a no-shame moan
Once clean he kissed your chest and went further and further down towards your core.
With your cunt right in front of his face you felt so vulnerable being on full display with Tegen
A kiss you your clit had you tightening around nothing until his tongue dived in
“Ah!” You cried out squeezing Tegens head as he moaned, caressing your thighs as his tongue did wonders on your cunt, no wonder this man has three wives, four now.
After making you cum for the second time and prepping you some more he finally sat up on his knees
Pumping his cock a few times he lined up with your cunt and planted his tip right in your entrance
The pressure alone was already driving you mad, you were desperate to feel him self his cock inside you but you were also wanting to avoid the painful stretch
The weight of his dick was heavy and had your walls aching for him
You both knew that no amount of prepping can help you take in Tegen with ease, it’ll only ease the pain a little but you’d have to suck it up for the most part
Tegen could sense your body tensing from the contact of his tip at your hole
He bent down towards your face, one hand rested at your hip while the other snaked up tour body to caress your face
His planted soft kisses along your neck and jawline, his mouth reaching your earlobe sent chills down your spine.
“Don’t worry doll, just tell me to stop and I’ll stop.” His breathed into your ear as you could only nod with your voice caught in your throat
He began to gently push inside, the burning began to become to much with just his tip alone
You began to shift uncomfortably your hips aching in discomfort but gently Tengen held your hips down
His mouth kissing your breast while one hand fondles with the other and his other hand rubbing soft circles on your clit bring a mixed sensation of pain and pleasure
Your hand on his shoulders, nails digging crevasses on his milky his skin
Moans erupted from you as the stretch continued and the pain and pleasure further increased the more he pushed in
His face buried in your chest licking, kissing and hitting your breast and nipples and tugging your areolas
“God baby your taking me so well.” He shamelessly moans into your ears which got your walls clenching tighter around him.
Halfway in the pain became bearable but you were on edge seeing how you still had the other half of his girth left to take in.
Tengen didn’t bother to fully sheath himself all the way inside you he figured you’ll relax and take him in more
The mix of pleasure and pain soon subsided to pure euphoria his head was almost kissing your cervix
With each minute and thrust of his hips it didn’t take long till Tegen was fully inside
His top kissed and bruised your cervix you felt full with every pound
A bulge formed at you tummy every time Tegens hips met your tighs
The sound of skin slapping echoed throughout the room and his heavy balls slapped against your ass
That made you wonder how much he could come, that thought alone drove you crazy, the thought of his warm seed filling you had you clenching around his
The two of you moaned as Tengen chuckled and gasped your cheeks to force you to look up at him but it was hard cause you’re eyes were rolling back
“What’s got you clenching down on me so hard for princess?” He moans out
You could answer until he leaned down and pinched your nipple between his teeth as you yelp
“Answer me.”
“You- ugh~ you cumming in me Tengen-sama” you cried out
He chuckled and seemed to quicken his pace faster than before.
“That so. Glad to know we’re on the same page cause I’m going to fuck you till your stuffed.”
Yeah you couldn’t walk right for a week after that night

GREENWOOD, Dist. – On the 102nd anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre, the Tulsa Community Remembrance Coalition honors unknown victims with a solemn soil collection ceremony at Standpipe Hill in the Historic Greenwood District. The gathered soil, collected from both Standpipe Hill and Oaklawn Cemetery, honors those whose lives were tragically lost during this dark and painful moment in history.
The exact number of victims who perished in the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 remains unknown. However, estimations range from 300 to upwards of 500. The event, which took place over a two-day period from May 31 to June 1, resulted in widespread destruction and loss of life in the Greenwood district of Tulsa, Oklahoma, also known as “Black Wall Street.” However, due to the chaotic nature of the massacre, the destruction of records, and a lack of comprehensive investigations, an accurate and final count of the victims has never been determined.
Recent efforts to uncover the full extent of the tragedy continue, including through forensic investigations and testimonies from survivors and their descendants.
Tumblr media
Greg Robinson, a member of the Tulsa Community Remembrance Coalition, emphasized the significance of gathering at Standpipe Hill. “It is amazing that we honor those unknown who were lost in the Tulsa Race Massacre. That we do it here on truly sacred ground – that actually represents the greatness of what Black Wall Street was, is and will be into the future,” Robinson shared. He then honored the American World War I veterans who lost their lives. “It is not lost on us that we honor veterans on this day as well,” Robinson added.
During the ceremony, Kristi Williams, a member of the Tulsa Remembrance Coalition and a descendant of the massacre, delivered a poignant reading. Through her words, she reminded everyone in attendance of the historical significance of the Tulsa Race Massacre and shed light on the countless victims whose identities have been lost to time, emphasizing the need to remember and honor them.
“Less than two dozen victims have been documented by name, but research has estimated that hundreds of Black men, women and children died in the massacre,” Williams sternly explained.
Tumblr media
During Williams’ address, she shared an intriguing detail about the majestic hackberry tree standing tall on Standpipe Hill. She then revealed that this remarkable tree possesses a special ability to grow thick bark over the areas that were once damaged by fire, creating a protective shield against future harm, explaining that its resilient characteristic serves as a metaphor for the community’s ability to heal and endure in the face of adversity.
Williams proceeded to recount the heroic tale of Horace ‘Peg leg’ Taylor, a World War I veteran. She described how Taylor courageously positioned himself atop Standpipe Hill, wielding a gatling gun, and valiantly defended the hill for hours, providing a vital shield for the residents of Greenwood as they sought to escape from the violent White mob.
US Veteran Kenneth ‘K.Roc’ Brant, who works for the Terence Crutcher Foundation, shared a deeply personal reflection on the mental struggle he faced during the Centennial of the Massacre back in 2021.
He recounted the challenge of honoring both the victims of the Tulsa Race Massacre and the veterans during the centennial commemoration, which coincided with Memorial Day weekend.
“That weekend weighed heavily on me. [I was] torn as a Black military veteran and a Black man living in Tulsa,” Brant shared. At the ceremony, Brant recited a poem he wrote called “Holding Space” to express the thoughts and feelings he experienced. “This weekend, we remembered that some gave all. Here in Tulsa, we remembered that some took all. How do I hold space for both?” Brant said.
Brant’s individual story sheds light on the emotional and psychological battle he endured during his time in service and while navigating the complexities of what Black soldiers experienced during the Massacre upon their return to Tulsa after WWI.

In the bathroom, Dale is finishing washing his dish; he hasn’t said a word since they got up from the table, nor in all the time he and Kelly have been there. (*Breaking the fourth wall to say that I keep wondering why they insist on using the bathroom sink and not the kitchen to wash dishes, oh well).
Tumblr media
Dale stops washing, wipes his hands and stares at the mirror, as if looking for some non-existent flaw. Kelly: Relax, honey, there’s nothing wrong with you, she’s just not into boys – or girls for that matter, she only cares about money, heck she would f*ck her bank account if that was possible. Dale: I know, and I don’t give a sh*t about her, it’s Sarah I’m worried about, that whole ‘plan’ of Riley’s must have been dreadful for her.
Tumblr media
Kelly: Yeah, I feel for Sarah too. But she’s strong and as far as I can see she’s pulled through. Dale: Yeah, it seems so… But I’m also worried about my brother, why did Riley go to him? Maybe she’ll try to sweet talk him into her evil plans too. Kelly: Well, I don’t think Terry would be of any use to her. She needs a man to marry, and your brother is happily married already. Plus, I don’t think she could con someone like Terence, he’s more likely to con her. Not to mention his little wife worships him like a god, she’d jump on Riley like a dog if she tried to steal him away from her.
Tumblr media
Dale: Not so sure about that. Cyn pretends to be tough, but deep down she’s really not. She could get hurt out of all this, just like Sarah. Kelly notices Dale’s sympathetic tone in describing Cynthia, and quickly changes the subject. Kelly: Anyway, she’s not the point here, let’s better talk about how we’ll prepare for whatever Riley is up to. Dale: *Sighs*. Yeah, first thing is to warn Terry about this ‘secret’ before Riley does, that way he’ll be on guard, and she won’t be able to trick him. I’ll also advise him not to give her a job under any circumstances. Kelly: Good call. I mean, Terry’s not my favorite person, but it’s best for all of us if he stays away from that witch.
Tumblr media
Dale: Okay then, I’ll get my phone to send him a message. Dale leaves the bathroom on his way to the bedroom. Kelly hurries to finish washing her dish.
Tumblr media
She catches him halfway, she feels the urge to see what he’s going to write to Terry, but she holds back, she’s supposed to be trying to be less toxic and controlling. Plus, her class starts in a couple of hours, so she better hurry and get in the shower.

anyway thinking abt homophobia in valisthea
which means thinking abt sex-related misogyny in valisthea. bc imo there is way too much sexual violence against women and focus on women as sexual figures w sexual drama in this game for it to not bleed over into how it feels abt two men kissing (not gonna go into a lesbian reading bc it exits my scope)
like. anabella only being a vessel for children, benedikta using sex to control titan/feel loved by barny but also being threatened w rape twice(?) by men, jill awakening shiva when she's almost raped by a man + other rosarian girls are raped, the constant winkwink sexy references w isabella, the offscreen women moaning in the oriflamme brothel, sylvester killing his wife n mistress after they outlived any sexual service to him, barny's mom referenced in an easily interpretable sexual manner, etc etc
simultaneously the narrative does its best to present the veil as a morally neutral institution w benefits to the function of northreach. the discussion between the male sex worker and the male guard was deliberately placed, too, and gives an interesting view into affection and money. theres a couple more men in veil garb that arent presented as out of place.
which is all failed by rest of the worldbuilding imo. only male customers visit the veil. sex is still regarded as a sneaky taboo subject. every country has a male monarch and occupations are firmly divided by gender. the primary hinge of benedikta's relationship w hugo is the fact that hugo feels in charge, which helps culturally ascribe dominance as a masculine trait.
if women are so widely regarded as unequal on sexual terms (and, relatedly, on societal terms), certain expectations must also exist on the male side.
we dont really see much tension in the male characters performing masculinity--other than the huge unnatural vibes sleipnir gives off by mincing around--but we do see barny kneel before ultima in a rly sexually charged scene. his subservience is presented as an unexpected weak facet of his character, where he's desperate and obliging and uncertain. it's a private scene that works off its own uncanniness, so it functions a little bit more as a narrative piece than a societal mirror. but I don't think that removes it from the discussion, and i think its odd character is a stark contrast to the clarity we're given in dion and terence's kiss scene.
a sort of clarity, i guess. dion and terence talk abt power dynamics in class instead of sexual role or gender. there's still the words 'master' and 'servant' pinned on the wall w like 3 different undertones, so its easy to unravel that into different understandings of their relationship to class, duty, and romantic/sexual identity. i dont think its productive to split hairs abt who tops, but i think its reasonable to interpret that they feel secure in w/e service they give to the other. this is in spite of the societal understanding that dominance is inherently masculine and correct, and that subservience is feminine and not as acceptable.
i know enough abt queer history to know that the security & fulfillment i interpret them as having is simultaneously as rare as it is common depending on where you look. no matter what one does in the private sphere, the public view will influence it, and it's determined by the case who will feel negatively or positively abt themselves bc of it.
ultimately i see valisthea in the respect of a society that views queerness as undesirable but not smth ur gonna be burned at the stake for. im also fully operating under my own preference for queer narratives that labor under external & internal homophobic conflicts. it's fully supportable to decide that valisthea lacks homophobia as well, and its not less like wish fulfillment to have it that way or the other.

To @cackled0g and to @holmesoldfellow
Sherlock Holmes and his faithful friend Dr. Watson have a very long tradition over here in Germany. Personally I’m an avid fan since my teens when I watched “The Hound of the Baskervilles” (1939) starring the immortal Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce when it was first broadcast on East German television in 1984.
Nearly all important film adaptions of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson have been dubbed and broadcast in Germany either in the cinema or in television. Here are a few examples:
In 1969 and in the early and mid Eighties East German television first dubbed and broadcast nearly all movies starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. All films about the Nazi issue were only dubbed after the fall of the wall. All films are relaesed on DVD and they are are frequently repeated. Theses films are so hugely popular over here that Basil Rathbone is considered as the epitome of Sherlock Holmes by most viewers. For me personally he is the reason for my lifelong enthusiasm for Sherlock Holmes. “The Hound of the Baskvervilles” in the first German dubbed version from 1984: https://youtu.be/sD9M7pxP7Nk
In the early and mid Eighties East German television dubbed and broadcast the Russian television series starring Vasily Livanov and Vitaly Solomin. It was very well received but never hugely popular in the former GDR and was never repeated since its premiere. This series was never broadcast in West German television, Sadly not all dubbed films still exist in the archives but the remaining ones have been released on three DVDs in 2019 in the German version. As for me I simply love these two wonderful actors in these roles and so I made a video tribute in honour to their unforgettable portrayals: https://youtu.be/0jaSdOrntDc
The miniseries “The Hound of the Baskervilles” (1982) starring Tom Baker and Terence Rigby as Holmes and Watson were dubbed and broadcast at East German television in 1985.
In the mid and late eighties East German television dubbed and broadcast the Granada series starring Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes. The series didn't achieve anywhere near the popularity with the general public as it enjoys in the English-speaking world. The series was only very rarely repeated but is now completly available on DVD.
The Hammer film “The Hound of the Baskervilles” (1959) starring Peter Cushing as Sherlock Holmes and André Morell as Dr. Watson was a great success in West Germany. The German dubbed version can be watched here: https://youtu.be/SWgtjG8O_qQ The television series starring Peter Cushing and Nigel Stock as Holmes and Watson was never broadcast on German television. The episodes were only dubbed for DVD in 2017.
In 1962 Terence Fisher directed the movie “Sherlock Holmes und das Halsband des Todes” (Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace”) starring Christopher Lee as Sherlock Holmes and Thorley Walters as Dr. Watson. The cast included numerous German and Austrian actors includig Hans Söhnker (1903 - 1981) as Professor Moriarty. Fun fact: actor Harry Wüstenhagen, who dubbed Christopher Lee in this movie also dubbed Ian Richardson, John Neville and Nicol Williams in their portrayals of Sherlock Holmes. This movie is available on DVD as well as the other ones I mentioned.
“Murder by Decree” (1979) starring Christopher Plummer and James Mason as Holmes and Watson was dubbed in West Germany and called “Mord an der Themse” (“Murder at the Thames”). It is available on DVD. The German dubbed version can be watched here: https://youtu.be/AANCR2K17F0
In 1982 West German television dubbed and broadcast the series “Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson” starring Geoffrey Whitehead and Donald Pickering. It was quite a success but only very rarely repeated. Meanwhile it is available on DVD. German dubbed episodes can be watched on YouTube: https
Sherlock Holmes in Germany
Alwin Neuß (1879 - 1935) was the first German actor to play the master detective in a movie. In 1914 he played Sherlock Holmes in “Der Hund von Baskerville” (”The Hound of the Baskervilles”). This silent movie was so successful that three sequels were made between 1914 and 1915. Oddly enough Dr. Watson does not appear in them at all. The first film can be watched here: https://youtu.be/PMhVAqef2nY
"Der Hund von Baskerville" (“The Hound of the Baskervilles”) made in 1929 is the last German silent movie about an adventure of Sherlock Holmes. It was directed by Richard Oswald (1880 - 1963), who also directed a German version of "The Hound of the Baskervilles" with three sequels (1914/15) starring Alwin Neuß. Oswald also wrote the screenplay for the very first film version of “The Hound of the Baskervilles” in 1914 which was directed by Rudolf Meinert. The cast is international: an American actor as Sherlock Holmes, a Russian actor as Dr. Watson, a German actor as Stapleton, an Italian actor as Sir Henry Baskerville, an Austrian actress as Beryl Stapleton, an Austrian actor as Dr. Mortimer and a German-Baltic actor as Barrymore. Remarkably, Fritz Rasp (1891 - 1976), who portrays the demonic Stapleton in this movie, plays the servant Barrymore in the sound film version "Der Hund von Baskerville" from 1937. This version is available on DVD and can be watched on YouTube: https://youtu.be/dOO1BwcpP_g
The sound film "Der Hund von Baskerville" (“The Hound of the Baskervilles”) was made in 1937 by Czech director Carl Lamač. The film has a great atmosphere and a cast of then very popular German actors. Especially Erich Ponto (to foreign film viewers very well known for his sinister role as Dr. Winkel in “The Third Man”) as Stapleton and Fritz Rasp (who mostly played sinister roles during his long film career) are great. Unfortunately actor Bruno Güttner (1909 - 1945) as Sherlock Holmes is pretty bland in his role, he even was dubbed by a more experienced actor in this film. Fritz Odemar (1890 - 1955) gives a good and amusing performance as Dr. Watson and does not portray him as a buffon. The movie is available on DVD and can be watched on YouTube: https://youtu.be/XrbMR9NZkVc
“Der Mann, der Sherlock Holmes war” (“The man who was Sherlock Holmes”) (1937) is a crime comedy directed by Austrian director Karl Hartl. The film starres Hans Albers as Morris Flynn and Heinz Rühmann as Macky McPherson. Albers (1891 - 1960) and Rühmann (1902 - 1994) were two of the most popular German actors at that time, and they are still very popular over here. The film deals with two broke English private detectives who decide to pose as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson to get lucrative jobs. The official authorities obviously do not know that the English master detective and his friend are only products of the imagination of writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and want them to to solve the theft of the Red and the Blue Mauritius. When their real identity is established, they are taken to court for fraud. Only now writer Conan Doyle (played by actor Paul Bildt without a moustache) declares that he is the spiritual father of Holmes and Watson. As he is very satisfied with the appearance of Flynn and McPherson, they are acquitted by the court. The false Holmes and Watson even sing a song called “Jawohl, meine Herr’n” (“Yes, gentlemen”) while taking a bath. This crime comedy is very entertaining, I can't find any hints of the Nazi period it was made. The movie was released on DVD and can be watched on YouTube: https://youtu.be/vWz-ZYIKsEI
Altough Holmes and Watson were immensly popular in East Germany there was never made a movie nor a television film or series especially about them. There are only exist spoofs.
In the Seventies the drawing of the lottery numbers were enriched in East German television with short films of different genres. When the number 19 was drawn it was always a humourous crime film. In three of them appaered the English master detective Sherlock Holmes and his faithful friend Dr. Watson. In "James, der Butler" ("James, the butler") we see Ezard Haußmann, who later dubbed Vasily Livanov in "The Hound of the Baskervilles", and Hannes Stelzer. In the monochrome version of "Spuk im Schloss" ("Haunting in the castle") Jürgen Frohriep and Horst Torka played Holmes and Watson. Torka repeated his role as Watson in a new and colorized version of the same story while Alfred Struwe played Sherlock Holmes. These episodes are part of the DVD edition “Die Tele-Lotto Kurzkrimis”. Alfred Struwe returned to the role of Sherlock Holmes in 1979, when he played in a spoof with the absurd title "Kille Kille Händchen" ("Kill, kill little hand"). Photos of it can be seen here: https://www.tumblr.com/flammentanz/626097658197622784/completely-unknown-german-sherlock-holmes-in-the?source=share
The East German children movie “Unternehmen Geigenkasten” (“Operation violin case”) made in 1984 deals with two school boys who want to solve crimes like Holmes and Watson after they have seen “Der Mann, der Sherlock Holmes war” on television. This film can be watched here: https://youtu.be/5CDlfPl6ibU
“Sherlock Holmes und die sieben Zwerge” (“Sherlock Holmes and the Seven Dwarfs”) made in 1992 by director Günter meyer was one of the last big production of East German television after the fall of the wall. The eight part children series starres Alfred Müller (1926 - 2010) - a big star in East Germany - as newly retired Detective Inspector Hans Holms (the only real connection to the master detective is his name and sometimes his clothings) who looks after his grandchildren Anne and Martin while his daughter and his son-in-law are abroad. With the help of a magical armchair, Holms and his grandchildren can travel to Wonderland, where they are inter alia asked by the seven dwarfs to search for the kidnapped Snow White and meet other fairy tale characters. Their great adversary in all adventures is a demonic black magician. The whole series is available on DVD. The trailer can be watched here: https://youtu.be/blrc8cE6jSk
For a serises about famous detectives the television movie “Sherlock Holmes liegt im Sterben” (“Sherlock Holmes is dying”) was made for the West German television in 1954. It starres Ernst Fritz Fürbringer (1900 - 1988) as Sherlock Holmes and Harald Mannl (1904 - 1964) as Dr. Watson. The complete movie is lost, there is only this fragment that still exists: https://youtu.be/LGvELtv6Q10
“Der Hund von Baskerville” (“The Hound of the Baskervilles”) was made for West German televsion in 1955. It was directed by Fritz Umgelter and starres Wolf Ackva (1911 - 2000) as Sherlock Holmes and Arnulf Schröder(1903 - 1960) as Dr. Watson. I don’t know if this movie still exists in the archives.
“Das Zeichen der Vier” (“The Sign of Four”) was made for West German television in 1974 starring German actor Rolf Becker (born in 1935) and French actor Roger Lumont (born in 1934). It was never repearted since, and I don't know if it still exists in the archives. Here are Becker and Lumont:
Tumblr media
In 1966 the television movie “Conan Doyle und der Fall Edalji” (“Conan Doyle and the case Edalji”) directed by Karlheinz Bieber was made. It starres Paul Klinger (1907 - 1971) - who mostly played likeable roles and was very popular because of it in Germany (because of his sonorous voice he also was a verya renowned voice actor) - as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The film is based on facts that took place from 1903 until 1907. Young Indian solictior George Edalji was exposed to racist hostilities and was wrongly accused of animal mutilations. Arthur Conan Doyle made his own investigations which led to an acquittal of Edalji. In the movie Conan Doyle uses the methods of Sherlock Holmes to solve the case. The film is available on DVD and can be watched on YouTube: https://youtu.be/32H3PmBcJrM Paul Klinger as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle:
Tumblr media
In 1968 Germany got its own Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson at last. In 1967 the WDR (Westdeutscher Rundfunk), a local TV channel of the West German television, produced a six episode television series about the English master detective Sherlock Holmes. Strangely enough, the series was not broadcast under the title “Sherlock Holmes” but the opening credits name the author Arthur Conan Doyle. The series was based on translated scripts written for the BBC series starring Douglas Wilmer. The series was first aired on Sunday afternoons from from October 1, 1967 to March 18, 1968.
Erich Schellow (1915 - 1995) - actually a theater star, that only rarely appeared in movies and on television (the critic Friedrich Luft said about him “He speaks like a God!”) played Sherlock Holmes, while his faithful friend Dr. John H. Watson was played by Paul Edwin Roth (1918 - 1985). The actors knew each other from their theater work in Berlin and got along very well during the filming.

Paul May, a renowned director in film and television with a long-standig career, had a certain idea of Sherlock Holmes from the start. He wanted an impeccable, dignified, and noble master detective. To create a contrast to other television detectives at that time May avoided any action scenes. Erich Schellow wanted to play a bit more depraved Holmes including the use of cocaine but May refused strictly. In 1991 Erich Schellow was made an honorary member of the German Sherlock Holmes Society.
Paul Edwin Roth were allowed more liberties to portray Dr. Watson and he gladly took the opportunity. He is not a buffoon but instead he is amusing and witty (sometimes he even philosophizes), has a perfect name and address memory, he knows how to handle a weapon (usually his army revolver) and is a faithful friend in all situations. His favorite words are “very interesting”, a fact on which he comments ironically in “Das Haus bei den Blutbuchen” (“The Copper Beeches”)

While the use of cocaine was refused by the director, the consumption of tobacco and alcohol by Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson is immense. Even dear Mrs. Hudson (Austrian actress Manja Kafka), who is not only a devoted maid (not a landlady as she actually is) but also amusingly cheeky, is hard-drinking. The running gag within the series is that the cane of the umbrella of Dr. Watson serves as a vessel for alcoholic beverages.
It’s incomprehensible that this wonderful series was only repeated once in 1991 and never since. Sadly Germany’s Sherlock Holmes was never given the the attention and appreciation he deserves. Fortunately this gem was released on DVD in 2012 and re-released in 2021.

Interview with Tina Aumont 2
Modesty Blaise by Joseph Losey was your first film. How did it go? Was it during a casting call that you were selected?
No, it was by chance. I was under contract with FOX to take classes in New York, and I was married to Christian Marquand, a great actor older than me, who had already made a lot of films, and so I was in love. He happened to be filming an Aldrich film in America at the same time in the Colorado desert. I don't know if it was Darryl Zanuck who said to me, "You have to have a career." And so it was he who put me under contract with FOX, renewable every year. From time to time I went to see the filming of "Flight of the Phoenix" by Robert Aldrich with Christian Marquand and Peter Finch, the story of this plane which crashes in the desert and which is reconstructed from another plane.
I had friends in England, and I wanted to see them. It was easy to travel at that time. Aldrich said to me: "If you go to London, go and see my friend Losey, and say hello to him for me." which I did. He was preparing "Modesty Blaise". We had lunch together. Losey asks me, “Do you know how to ride motorcycles?” and I say, “That’s all I’m doing…” and Losey: “well, fine, I’ll take you.” I signed in Amsterdam, ready to shoot on the day of filming… I try the motorbike without having used one, and I hit a wall. So, the scene is done on a bicycle. I watched the film again, there is a very pretty scene, the one where I am killed in a fairground, with a house full of dolls that really exist in Holland. A film shot with the wonderful Monica Vitti.
Is she a friend of yours?
Yes. She's not a close friend. Both Terence Stamp and Monica Vitti are friends that I saw again in the future. And Losey even more, between Paris, Rome and London. He was quite European.
I love what he does in general. And he is a fabulous, generous, intelligent man obviously; a great director. I was very lucky to make my first film with him, and the role was nice. We had to reshoot scenes because the English censors were quite picky at the time. We caught a glimpse of one of my breasts, but that didn't happen. We went back to the studio in London.
Tina interviewed by Antoine Cervero in 2001. Published in January/June 2002 Cine Zine Zone number 134.
Very special thanks to @74paris for sharing this gem.
