Demonising Islam and Muslims makes this group of people vulnerable to bombs, bullets and missiles.
Afghans, Iraqis, Lybians - many of them children - are perceived as demon-Muslims A good Muslim is a dead Muslim.
Demonising of Islam, for which there is a ready market, has been carried on by writers ranging from the Somali Ayaan Hirshi Ali to the Bangladeshi Tahmima Anam.
Our current capo, masquerading as the legitimate ruler, owes the scant legitimacy to anti-Islamism.
On either side of the Indo-Bangladesh border, the demonising of Islam shores up the tyranny.

Non c'e' nessuna differenza tra islam e fondamentalismo islamico. L'islam e' la radice velenosa del fondamentalismo che ne e' lo stelo. Se si rimuove il fondamentalismo per salvare l'islam da un giorno all'altro il fondamentalismo rinascera' di nuovo. Twitter is failing at regulating hateful conduct
After the attack on Salman Rushdie, I somehow stumbled across the twitter feed of Taslima Nasreen. As of right now I haven’t had a chance to read books or any articles written by either one of these authors.
When I was going through the tweets sent by Taslima Nasreen. Here I noticed that this individual was getting threatened openly on Twitter by multiple individuals.
My instinctive response was to report all of these death-threats. Which is what I did. I must have made 5 or 6 reports.
Next, officially Twitter’s ‘hateful conduct policy’ basically translates into a so called ‘zero tolerance’ policy.
Unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be the case. Far from it. A couple of days later I got an update on the reports that I sent. The report highlighted that the tweets that I reported did not violate Twitter’s policy.
So here, I have taken a screenshot (one sample out of the many) with a direct link (below) to the death-threats.
The threats are still there. Here is a sample [link] and screenshot is below.
I am not sure how these reports are verified. Today, I tagged Twitter’s CEO on the thread. It’s only appropriate that individuals who make death-threats are permanently banned from the platform. Or banned for a significant amount of time. 8 to 10 years at the very least.
I stopped using Facebook (actively), after the Cambridge Analytica debacle. As well, hearing individuals like Sean Parker and Chamatha Palipathiya (spelling) raise concerns of their own, only affirmed the decision not to use Facebook. I have a profile on Facebook, but I do not log onto the platform on a day to day basis. I occasionally log into instagram, but I stopped posting. But there is one product from Meta that I do use.
However, in all honesty, I have no idea how Facebook actually deals with threats and death-threats being made on their platform.
Coming back to Twitter and I thought about this a bit after making the blogpost.
In the Westernized part of the world, threats and death-threats are taking extremely seriously in the real world. So why should it be any different in the digital world.
All threats should be taken seriously.
In the absence of adequate regulations for these kind of incidents. This may provide fodder to extremists and extremist sympathizers. Seeing that Twitter is failing at regulating itself adequately, may embolden such individuals.
Money/funding is not an issue for Twitter. At-least I do not think so. So there is really nothing stopping the platform from hiring more individuals and developing technologies in order to spot hateful and violent communications. Nip it in the bud.
I am not sure of the legal precedence here. But if Twitter continues to ignore such a critical issue. Then a group of users at Twitter must look into joining together and force Twitter’s executive into a court.
This is the first horrible experience I have had with this product. I am not an active user of either Facebook or Twitter. It’s best that I/others who are concerned, direct their energies and really really encourage this social media platform (Twitter) to take their responsibility and the trust that it’s users extend to the platform, seriously.
