"So how far is far? Are we too deep in? How dark is dark? I need to see it." - Diamonds, Luke Hemmings
It's been a while since I last posted so I told myself I'd post the next thing I draw which ended up being this extremely messy sketch of Mr Luke Hemmings himself. It's also been A WHILE (about, like, 5 years?) since I last drew him and he's grown up so much omg. But since 5Sos dropped the album of the fucking decade in September (fight me on this, you'll lose), I thought it was time to draw one of the boys again.
Also, "When facing the things we turn away from" is one of my favorite bodies of work ever and I love every second of it from the beginning to the end. What a legend. So fucking proud of this baby, who's not a baby anymore. Luke will always be the baby though, we all know it.
Anyway.
Not my best sketch, not my worst. Spend about 45 Minutes on this one and decided I wouldn't clean it up. So the messy sketch is what you get. Take it or leave it :)

Take My Hand Tour Masterlist
warning: some of these fics may have trigger warnings so please be careful when clicking on some of the fic links!
Foreplay (ao3) - @ashtcnirwin (elivigar)
calum/ashton
E, 9k
Summary: Ashton always initiates it, Calum is always far too happy to play along, and they always get each other off using their hands while pressed as closely together as physically possible. Then Calum will laugh a little, Ashton will grin, and they’ll use whatever they can find to wipe themselves off before pulling their pants back up, making sure the coast is clear on the other side of the door, and go hit the showers.
That’s how it goes. That’s how it’s always gone. That’s probably how it will always go.
have my back (yeah, everyday) (ao3) - lifewasradical
G, 3k
Summary: The excitement and hype doesn’t entirely make up for the things Calum misses when he’s on tour. He aches for the lazy days sitting by the pool in the sunshine. He longs for late start mornings where Roy is making pancakes in the kitchen. He dreams of the simplicity of going for a walk down the street and not having ten plus people stop him for a photo.
Most of all, he misses Duke.
The scruffy little mess of a dog is his best friend, the only person who really knows all his secrets. The soft fluff of his fur is the world’s best comfort, always there for Calum to run his fingers through when he’s stressed out. His tiny beating heart calms Calum’s in a way that nothing else on this earth can. His grumpy old man grumbles can pull a laugh from Calum’s chest even at his worst moments.
Leaving Duke behind when he goes on tour is the hardest thing he has to do.
Lies I Feed Myself (ao3) - Grace_Williams
michael/crystal, sierra/luke, michael/calum
T, 25k
Summary: Michael should be grateful he found out he was an omega when he did. Sure he was 24, which, given he went through puberty early, is so astonishingly late he had accepted he was a beta. Still, it was in the middle of the pandemic. (Though technically speaking, not the middle, actually closer to the start). It was an ideal time to find out he was an omega, all things considered.
or the story where Michael finds out he’s an omega long past when he should’ve, makes some irresponsible decisions, and is then forced to rethink every emotion he’s ever felt about Calum while lying in a hospital bed
Light Blue (ao3) - loveliketheweather
luke/calum
T, 1k
Summary: Maybe Calum is feeling sappy right now, because his brain wants to give Luke something back. Even when he knows Luke is just being Luke, and whatever side effects his happiness has on Calum are unintentional, that’s more than enough for him to want to return the favour.
rhythm (ao3) - lifewasradical
luke/ashton
E, 6k
Summary: The crowd laughs with Ashton, and Ashton laughs along too, but the laugh is all wrong. It’s not Ashton’s signature giggle, it doesn’t overflow out of his body and crinkle his eyes as it erupts. It’s not Ashton’s laugh, at least not a genuine one.
It’s clipped at the edges, just a little pitiful sound that no one else would know isn’t right, but Luke knows there’s something self-deprecating just below the surface, scratching at the tissue in his throat as it claws its way from his chest.
Same Story (ao3) - gardener
luke/ashton
M, 3k
Summary: It was always the same story, every time after they had been in close proximity to each other for elongated amounts of time and had to stay professional, almost bureaucratic for the sake of creating a new album. Maybe it was because they would get on each other’s nerves when they were around one another too long.
Luke and Ashton constantly get on each other's nerves and their default reaction to fighting is not safe for work.
Strings Attached (ao3) - jbhmalum
calum/ashton
E, 13k
Summary: It's not smart to start a friends with benefits arrangement with your best friend and bandmate who you're in love with, but love isn't about being smart, is it?
summer child (ao3) - no_clue_who
luke/ashton
G, 1k
Summary: Luke wanted a picnic.
They wanted a picnic in the sun today. It rained yesterday and all Luke wanted to do was have a picnic. He wanted to eat food with his friends and celebrate his birthday but they know that the band doesn't have time. They had tech problems a few nights ago, more last night and Luke was dreading more today.
or how not to have a picnic
Twenty-eight (ao3) - no_clue_who
luke/ashton
G, 1k
Summary: Ashton looked up at the hotel ceiling, he didn’t remember falling asleep in this hotel room. There’s a small strip of light on the ceiling, probably from the window that he didn’t pull the curtain closed tight enough.
He’s twenty-eight, the big two eight.
It feels like yesterday he was turning twenty on a tour bus across the US, sitting in his bunk and wishing to be a teen for longer than the few hours he had left. But now he’s twenty-eight, healthy and happy. His husband is somewhere in the bed with him, their dogs are with friends at home and he’s happy.
or how not to celebrate a birthday
you can't expect a sunrise to admire you back (ao3) - deserteyes
michael/luke
T, 2k
Summary: He could say it now. He could shout it from the top of the tour bus: "I love you as more than my friend!" and Michael wouldn't hear it. He could write it in the stars, and he wouldn't see it. He could leave notes everywhere with the words scribbled on it in pink pen, and he wouldn't see it.
And it hurts Luke. It hurts Luke, because it's like Michael's unknowingly ripping his heart out, throwing it in a blender, then leaving it out in the rain to drown and dry up in the sunlight that follows.
But he can't be mad at him. He can't love him any less for it, because they're all just living in the moment. They're just enjoying what they're doing.
