alright, but consider if you will the following: Loki, spending hundreds of years learning quantum physics and all the intricacies of science to get himself back to that one moment. and then, somewhere along the way, at the very end of his journey to learn everything, ending up at the same university as Darcy Lewis who is in her doctoral program.

something that my tiny undiagnosed adhd child brain never noticed was just how little emily rodda gives a shit about things like "distance" and "travel speed" lol. like the first time i read the book i was 2.5 feet tall and couldn't even conceptualise a kilometer, but now i look at it and go "well either deltora's fuckin' tiny or the concept of a to-scale map just does not exist in this world".

Watching braver/more adventurous/more reckless folks than me explore old mines led me to a YouTuber who's allllll about looking for gold. Jeff knows what he's talking about when it comes to geology.
For anyone who cares about the geology of gold/silver/copper (and usually iron) mines, this video is a decent place to start.
Jeff doesn't get to the plant part for a while. I was impressed with how he described the quartz vein and the host rock in the start of the video. Lots of terminology. I enjoy teaching, so if anyone wants to nerd out on this stuff, feel free to ask me questions.
I can totally see myself running around the desert sometime with a few tools, mostly for looking for minerals, pretty/interesting things to photograph, and learning new things. IDK if it's worth the effort that Jeff demonstrates to find far less than an ounce of gold. How do you do it legally anyway?
