would we be able to request a npc flag? we have a lot of npcs that are *technically* part of our system but we'd like a flag to include them too

The format is based off the Now-PC(link) flag, with I have also remade in this post!

NPC, Now-PC, & NPC-flux

NPC, (short for non-playable character) are constructs that are found in a system's headspace but are not part of the system itself or are notable distinct from other headmates in their autonomy, sentience, elaboration, or interaction. NPCs may serve to make the headspace feel more realistic, or fill in roles from a headmate's inner world history, e.g. a co-worker or family member.

Now-PC, A now-pc is a previously-NPC that is now a person in the system (someone who had previously been filler in a system, and now is an actual sentient person in system).

NPC-flux, may refer to a now-PC who will occasionally speak a repeated phrase or do an action that is triggered by a command of some sort. It could be a phrase or action they did when they were an NPC.

Yesterday I saw a post about NPCs and went “oh we don’t have any of thos— WAIT A MINUTE”

I’d completely forgotten that a few months ago we purposely created 2 large lobsters that aren’t sentient and just sorta scuttle around. And we’d make it so we could feel their presence walking next to us irl 😭 (don’t ask how, pure willpower of silliness) How did I forgor about them…

"What I learned was that while a Headmate can have a relationship or even children in the HeadSpace, or what I call the TownSpace, the children are not alters, and the spouse may not be either.

Consider a town of people that isn’t growing, but hold needs for relationships of their own. Just like in a movie scene where there are extra’s in the background to fill various needs, including realism, an inner world contains alters and static non-alters that are often referred to as non-playable characters.

These NPC’s can be recognized by various nuances; one of which is that their role is to be a sort of compliment to an alter in particular, rather than to the system as a whole. A Headmate won’t split by having a child, but they may desire a child and create the existence of a son or daughter through vivid fantasy that only has the role of being their child.

A Headmate may be a caretaker who cares for the littles, or they may be a protector who keeps the system safe in their own way through also being a persecutor. If a member of the internal home holds no purpose other than accompaniment to one alter, they are likely an NPC.

Non-playable characters also do not front, nor can they be sensed as being near the front the way that we can with an alter. They won’t be connected to the memories of the system.

Zip - Be patient due to hard time understanding emotions, no sexualization, no bringing up the events that took place in past/future.

Oliver - Do NOT mention older sister, extremely shy sometimes, can be overly rude and a bully.

Rocket - NO sexualization, no babying, doesn’t like being treated like a kid unless for a good reason.

Unpleasant - DON’T bring up what happened, don’t mention “cats” or “cat eater” EVER!! Be EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS!!

Piercer - Personal space, if asked to stop then DO IT.

Null/Filename2 - NEVER bring up what happened, extreme amnesiac, hard time understanding, hard time reading due to one eye being destroyed in the past.

Kaski - Just dont bring up anything related to Orin Ayo with these ones,, just don’t.

Blam - Don’t bring up anything related to ONaF,, still, just don’t.

Circubit - Afraid of touch related things, shy, doesn’t communicate much.
