Oh, so you're not that much older than me, cuz I graduated high school in 2017 and college in 2021...so I'd say you're like 24-25? As for college major...idk, creative writing? Or something in film? Since you tend to analyze revice and donbrothers with that sort of critical eye...but also maybe business?

I'm a 98-liner lmao so you are spot on, my friend. :D

Hebi Anon
Remember when I mentioned what my genuine thoughts were during the first third of episode 49?
It was the “Isn’t that sad?” scene that tore my heart out
And you can probably guess the production reason why Vice started to disappear when he brought out the Barid Rex stamp
I do find the “Ikki lives on his own” scenes to be really interesting though. One of Ikki’s biggest struggles was his constant self sacrificing for the sake of his family. But after losing his memories and when he moved out, it really felt like Ikki was finally branching out on his own, pursuing a new personal happiness instead and I actually felt happy for him in that regard. Granted, this is from an American perspective where individualism is more prevalent. From a Japanese perspective this is basically full on tragedy. Cultural differences in perspectives is just interesting like that
Vice setting up a fight also interested me narratively. Inner Demons embody the hidden flaws of the people they’re from. Ikki’s biggest flaw was his extreme self sacrificing, but after the memory loss that flaw seemed to go away on the surface. But Vice is Ikki’s inner demon who still has the memories of Ikki’s family, so with Ikki himself not demonstrating that flaw, it’s time for his inner demon to start embodying it. And the fight felt like a really good metaphor for working through said personal flaws, at least for me.
One last thing. The loss of the contract restored Ikki’s memories of his family. But Vice was part of his family. Isn’t that one hell of a way to set up Vice’s return?
Yes it was 🥺🤧

Hebi Anon with more Akaishi fun facts
When Akaishi goes into his monster form (Also, RIP my wish to see him go Senator Armstrong), he adds "Shadow" (Inn) and "Lightning" (Rai) to FuuRinKaZan
Now, while FuuRinKaInnZanRai has ZERO historical basis, I have seen it before in one other anime.
I thought at the time "Oh, adding Inn and Zan to FuuRinKaZan must be common then, let me see where it actually originated from". Couldn't find anything other than said anime where I first heard of it from.
So apparently Akaishi must have been a big fan, because FuuRinKaInnZanRai comes from PRINCE OF TENNIS
This is so funny to me
That's the equivalent of telling me Davy-Jones watches Yugioh for dualing strategies

Ikki sweety your hearts in the right place and obviously you can't do nothing but given that part of Daiji's issues are hella insecurities related to I don't think this 'Fight Daiji' plan is gonna work out tbh. In all seriousness though I can see what Ikki's trying to do and under normal circumstances it might be a good idea to get to what Daiji's really feeling but I think right now Daiji just needs someone to listen to him. I think the best thing for Ikki to do is bs and stroke Daiji's ego just a little to get a conversation going and work from there. I think it's unfortunately a difficult situation in-universe as they obviously don't have the meta insight we do.
Oh sh*t

I was so caught up in the euphoria of beating the shxt out of Daiji I forgot the fact that would only make things worse—

Hebi anon with another funfact!
The shoebill stork being a scythe is very appropriate as like a reaper's scythe the shoebill kills is prey by using that giant and powerful beak to severe its preys head off (though the bird does it through SHEER BLUNT IMPACT)
Other facts include, being four feet tall with an 8 foot wing span, one of their most common prey are juvenile crocodiles, they're not storks and are instead related to pelicans, and they vocalize by rapidly clacking their beak which can sound like machine gun fire.
HOWEVER. Despite being so scary, they're near harmless to humans to the point where you can get close to one and even it's nest and it won't be aggressive. Shoebill storks in zoos even bond with their caretakers and will walk up to greet them.
With that in mind, it makes sense that the Shoebill is the basis for the weapon that leaves the human unharmed
Once again, 🤝 🤝 🤝 the facts are much appreciated <33
(Also, can I just say — I googled what Shoebills look like and LMAO. Absolutely terrifying.)
"They vocalize by clacking their  beak which can sound like machine gun fire"….
I like this statement because Sakura and Aguilera start out on the battlefield. They’re enemies. (Of course until they do their lil speedrun and end up with their relationship,,,where it is at now). So essentially, the Shoebill talking/communicating with what sounds like gunfire is a perfect way to symbolize how Aguilera and Sakaura grew so close. It was during their battles.
I went googling for “Pelican Symbolism” to see if I could find a deeper meaning to Shoebills being within the Pelican family. And man, when you start googling animal symbolism you truly get the wildest sh#t:
Tumblr media
(.....catholiceducation….what is even going oN here…)
Man I have nO IDEA where the heck any of these spiritual meanings for animal symbolism come from, like, at ALL….and I suspect finding sources for where they’re getting this info would be a long, tedious, and maybe even uneventful process where I only dig a pit and end up with nothing. Not even a latter out of the pit.
That said–
It’s kind of eerie how well some of these descriptions fit what’s happening with the Shoebill stamp and Aguilera/Hana intrapersonal relationship as well as the Aguilera/Hana and SAKURA relationship.
So yeah, I like how pelicans have this representation of forgiveness, letting go of the things holding you down so you can soar to new heights. Because when this original ask got sent, Hana’s problem was that she needed (for the time being) to detach and separate herself from her Aguilera identity/past, as it left her at a ‘dead end’ so to say. 🤪
Tumblr media
Even more interestingly is the historical context and meaning behind the Pelican / it’s symbolism
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do I even need to say anything?

What did Hana tell you, George? Please don't do something you'll regret?!!!!! now look at what you've done?
Scoups, I know someone who doesn't really like George, they feel like he's been forgiven for all his shadiness all too quickly for their taste, don't get me wrong, I agree with that sentiment, but I'm eh to him :p
Honestly though—he didn’t even wait that long before going to see his father. Imagine he waited like 30 minutes before making his way over there. (Too bad it was 30 minutes too late.)
Tumblr media
It just makes it all the more tragic because it shows that George put everything—EVERYTHING— bad that his father has done to him on the backburner, sucked it up, and went to see him before he died one last time. He likely had things he wanted to say, but ESP. things that he wanted to hear.
But he couldn’t do it right away because his emotions were still too high, so he built himself up to go see him; but when he did, it was too late. And it was only a few minutes, too.
Tumblr media
(Now onto the other part of this ask :D )
I don’t think George has been forgiven for his shadiness too quickly at all tbh.
Though I can see how it comes across that way.
My logic really just revolves around George’s Igarashi SIMP card. Episode 13 was the first time he actually admired someone —Ikki, and episode 18 the first time he apologized to someone—also Ikki.
Everyone else was pretty much “whatever” to him, but when it comes to the shadiness, let’s examine:
(1) Gave a fked up Daiji the driver ← → It ended up working out in the end.
(And Ikki was lied to about it so who knows how much they know about that, other than Daiji.)
(2) Everything he did to Hiromi ← → Showed (in the episode where Hiromi got shot off a cliff) that he at least wanted Hiromi to hate him / blame him / leave his position (and thereby not have to fight anymore).
He also apologized to the Igarashi’s for being soooo….shady as sh*t LOL, like ten episodes later.
I know I stated this before but George (much like his own father, RIP) has a tendency to rely on masks when he’s vulnerable.
In particular, the mask that gives him the most control —which for him, is being a villain. AKA — The shady scientist with loose to no morals.
George does this even when it feeds into the negative perception of himself because he feels a general lack of control from his circumstances, so at least he can be in-control of how people view him
(as by being an a$$hole).
Tumblr media
It’s a trauma response.
George never had any control over his life, that’s why he’s such a little prick.
(Not that this excuses him BEING a little prick <333. Fr turned Hiromi into a granddaddy.)
In the beginning we see him working for Akaishi and this can be for many reasons but most likely Akaishi was taking advantage of a vulnerable George and getting him to “take up his father’s legacy” mixed with George’s inner demon actually being his father’s.
We’ve seen Akaishi do his cult propaganda on people in similar situations; Oltecca —(abusive household, made to feel like a freak, Akaishi called him a genius and ‘special’ boy instead of treating him like how everyone else did)  and
Daiji —isolated and out of control because of “killing” his inner demon. Can’t see right from wrong, becomes obsessed with “doing the right thing” and makes that his identity, driving him to an identity crisis 🤝🤝 Akaishi seeks him out after beating him and convinces him that siding with Giff is “the right thing.”
Time and time again we’ve seen that bastard a$$ sea-faring mfer manipulate people in vulnerable states into doing insanely bad things.
Likewise, in episode 26 —we saw just how little of control George had in Fenix, because when he objected to giving Kagerou the stamp, Akaishi grabbed him by the collar.
Even when he helped Oltecca jack up the DEMONS driver, he was being held hostage, mixed with his father’s demon / ‘legacy’ (literally the last thing Masumi worked on before he ‘died’)
PLUS
being vulnerable = George going extra hard into his “bastard personality.”
It’s what he falls back on, time and time again.
Tumblr media
We saw him do it just before his father died, he put all of himself into his science
(he’s a ‘shady scientist,’ remember?)
Tumblr media
and he likened his father to a “frail old man” or something like that.
Tumblr media
He did this because again, it plays into that villain persona he falls back on when he’s vulnerable, and—
(2) because by calling his dad that, it separates his father into a different category, now he’s a “frail old man” instead of his “father.”
This is another way George handles trauma —by distancing himself from it / the people.
Tumblr media
Right.
Anyways, we haven’t actually seen George be truly super shady-shady. We’ve seen him be a manipulative, secretive liar.  We’ve seen his reactions to confrontation (laughter, going full villain bastard), we’ve seen him be ruthless (Hiromi), and we’ve seen him consistently distance himself from others.
Ikki was always his exception.
Like, we can’t forget the actual good George did as well —creating the drivers, helping with upgrades, making it so Hana doesn’t die, apologizing to Ikki and worrying about his overall health, trying to help himself in the fight but deciding instead to help others fight instead; apologizing to Hiromi and not expecting forgiveness, etc. etc. etc.
I think the bad he’s shown is far outclassed by his neutrality and then the good acts he’s done to make up for being an evil bastard.
Besides, Ikki forgives too easily because he doesn’t care about his own well-being, and he needs to use George in order to have power / keep transforming, ergo it makes sense that he stayed amiable with George even after the whole Hiromi situation, and then once George apologized Ikki was instant to forgive because that’s a pretty big thing for George to do, and in Ikki’s experience, he’s only done that when he’s been genuine.
Daiji forgave him because he really just wanted to pick a fight with Akaishi LOL!!!!
And Sakura wasn’t really too deep into the gossip / the drama, so she was never close enough with George to feel really slighted by what he did to Hiromi. At least not enough to condemn him completely for it.
And the Igarashi’s just LOVE pushing things under the rug and pretending it's all okay hahahahaha, so their forgiveness came off very natural to me.
ANYWAYS — I love George’s character <333 because I’ve always wanted to put him in a little soda bottle and shake it up like a maraca; Or  to put him into a little jar to study like a bug.

and now w/ this, the parallels between ikki & vice and genta& vail are even clearer. not in only that their demons are the reason of their amnesia, it's also in their relationships.
vail was forced to kill junpei's parents and also lead him along thereby losing his sense of self (sanity and sense of humanity) so junpei had to leave him while vice wanted to kill yukimi out of his own will (and of ikki's desire) but didn't end up doing it and through his relationship w/ vice, ikki finds his sense of self.
if vice managed to kill yukimi, ikki /would/ have abandoned him!(also… wonder if there's extra symbolism in vice being worried abt yukimi and fighting vail in ep34? yes, it's vice protecting ikki's family! the reason he exists but i wonder if it's also vice being worried abt yukimi (the reason genta has sense of humanity) then fighting vail (part of the reason why junpei didn't have it)? )
I think the Ikki & Vice 🤝🤝 Genta & Vail parallels are soooooooo fascinating in an especially cursed way
Like, we know Ikki seen his father and decided to go the exact a$$-opposite way.
And yet,,, dude is on the fast-track of being his dad 2.0 --- especially with the memory loss. (RIPPPP)
I do think the contrast between them is also super fascinating.
Like,,, Vail was created by NOAH --so he's essentially Junpei's toxic war-prisoner coping mechanism. While Vice was created by Vail's possession of Ikki's father, and Ikki's need to rescue his family. So parental trauma being passed on to the next generation.
The foundations are similar but different.
Vail's is based on hate, fear, and survival. Vice's on love, fear, and protection.
Both were created during a state of powerlessness in order to cope with the situation.
However, VAIL was forced to kill Junpei's parents, while Vice willingly and readily attacked both Ikki's mom AND Daiji.
Seems weird when Ikki wants to protect his family, right? When Vice was created from that foundation, right?
Well, Vice's "love and fear" are also part of his foundation.
And this is where he is different from Vail.
His attacking of his family isn't out of a need for survival, it isn't based on hate. But...it IS based on fear.
Ikki is afraid of losing his family. He's afraid of abandonment. Of being unlovable. Of never being accepted as he truly is, but only for what he can do. (Which is protect and provide)
The reason Vice attacked Yukimi and Daiji and why he wanted to "consume them" is because of Ikki's need for possession. He wants to possess their love.
He doesn't feel secure, that they love him, that they won't randomly abandon him at any moment, and so he wants to consume them so that they can't leave him. (Once again, Vice's 'food' obsession is because Ikki feels 'love starved'.)
Vice is so aggressive in the beginning because Ikki is so desperate for love, and because his own fear and self-hatred are high.
You eat to live. You consume something and it becomes a part of you, it sustains you, and helps you grow. Ikki needs their love. He *needs* his family. And he's starving. He's desperate. And he's angry that he's been driven to this point of desperation. Angry at himself. But also at his family. And Vice picks up on this.
Hence why, its his "childish way" (in viewpoint) of getting that sustenance. Of getting that love.
Vail wasn't created for love. He was created out of hatred, survival and fear. And THAT's the reason why Junpei couldn't stay with him. Because Vail was killing him too. Nobody can survive on hatred alone. It's poison.
Now, for Ikki and Vice, I don't truly know how the scenario of Vice hurting his family/killing them would've gone. I....honestly don't think Ikki could survive without his family. They're literally all he has. They're his everything.
A part of me wonders if Vice would've actually gone through with eating his mom or Daiji. But since the situation didn't happen, it's all hypothetical.
As for the symbolism in the episode 34 fight?
Hmmmm. Well I think that fight represented many things.
It represented the toxic cycle of trauma creating new trauma. Of an abusive father-and-son relationship. A trauma created that hurts others, and a trauma created that protects others. Selfishness versus selfless-ness. Vice is worried for Yukimi because he's an 6 to 8-year-old Ikki worried about his mother, worried about what the abusive side of their father could do to her if left unsupervised.
This is why I said Ikki is such a unique mix of both of his parents.
Vice is a perfect representation of his father's pain (VAIL); but his mother's need to protect.
This is the reason why Ikki doesn't see the humanity within himself; but he sees the humanity within others.
