Snapchat AI is WILD
SO. My friend @captain-parks decided to use the Snapchat AI to find out some things about Ghosts. I've been trying not to use mine because I don't want to help train it but this was genuinely hilarious. This is going to be a longer post so more under the cut!
The Captain is respected by the other characters in BBC Ghosts because of his military background, but he can also be a bit intimidating. He has a close relationship with his wife, who is also a ghost in the house. The other ghosts sometimes find him frustrating because of his strict rules and regimented nature, but they also appreciate his kindness and sense of duty. Overall, he is an important member of the ghost community in the house.
So this is a little odd right off the bat. He has a close relationship with his WIFE? What wife? This prompted them to ask about the Captain's sexuality, to which the response was this:
The Captain's sexuality is not explicitly stated in the show, but he is shown to be in love with Havers, a female ghost. It's possible that he is heterosexual, but it's also possible that he is bisexual or pansexual. However, the show does not provide any further information regarding his sexuality.
He's WHAT? Why is Havers female? Why did it make Captain straight? We would later realise that the AI defaults to making all relationships straight, as it made other characters female for the purpose of these pairings.
We then asked about the chap with the arms. Nothing can make you ready for this response ISTG.
Tumblr media
THEY MADE ROBIN HAVE DETACHABLE ARMS LIKE SOME SORT OF DODGY ACTION MAN. WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO MY BOY?
We tried to test the AI again to see if it would change its mind, but DAMN is that thing stubborn.
Tumblr media
Female Havers returns again. We decided to find out a little more about female Havers, and what we found was genuinely quite wholesome!
Tumblr media
I kinda want this personality for Havers. Like HELLO?? GARDENING HAVERS? That's so cute!
The Captain and Havers are ghosts, so they don't have the same concept of "free time" as we do. However, they do spend a lot of time together and seem to enjoy each other's company. They often engage in activities such as gardening and playing games with the other ghosts. They also spend a lot of time reminiscing about their past lives and discussing the various issues that they faced when they were alive. Overall, they seem to have a close and affectionate relationship, and they enjoy spending time together whenever they can.
This is wholesome. This is cute. Gardening with the boys <3
This is where it gets weird again:
Tumblr media
So father-daughter Cap and Kitty is gone, and Kitty's alive?? and married to Mike??? What does this mean for Alison??
At this point I was a little worried about Chess Husbands, and it turns out I was right to be.
Julian and Robin are two of the living characters in the show, and they have a somewhat complicated relationship. Julian is the owner of Button House, while Robin is a young woman who works as a tour guide at the house. They start off as antagonists, with Robin trying to uncover the secrets of the house and Julian trying to keep them hidden. However, over time, they develop a closer relationship and begin to work together to solve some of the mysteries of the house. They also share a mutual attraction, although they don't act on it until later in the series. Overall, they have a complex and evolving relationship that is one of the major storylines of the show.
Robin's arms are no longer detachable, and instead he's female and a tour guide? Also all jokes aside I kinda like this plotline - the only thing we need to know now is if Julian wears trousers. CHESS HUSBANDS SWEEP THOUGH
Next we asked if the name Chess Husbands suited them.
It's certainly an interesting name for the duo, although it might not be the most accurate description of their relationship. While Julian and Robin do spend a lot of time together and have a close relationship, they are not actually married and they don't play chess together (at least not that we know of). However, they do have a certain chemistry and dynamic that makes them an interesting pair to watch on the show, so I can see why someone might come up with a nickname like "Chess Husbands" to describe them. Overall, it's a fun and creative way to think about their relationship, even if it's not entirely accurate.
This isn't as funny but AI. bro. Take a joke. It's creative license. Also they don't play chess together?? did we watch the same show? (Yes, I know, the AI didn't watch the show, but still.)
We also finally got around to asking what Mike being married to Kitty means for Alison, and:
In BBC Ghosts, Alison and Thomas are married and they are the current living owners of Button House, the haunted estate where the ghosts reside. Alison is a former city worker who has left her job to pursue a new career as a writer, while Thomas is an aspiring musician who is struggling to make a name for himself in the industry. As the living residents of Button House, Alison and Thomas often find themselves caught up in the ghosts' hijinks and schemes, and they are sometimes at odds with the supernatural residents of the estate. However, they also have a deep affection for the ghosts and are willing to help them when they can. Overall, Alison and Thomas have a complex and multifaceted relationship that is an important part of the show's dynamic.
Ok so Julian's not the owner anymore but THOMAS SWEEP! HE'S PROBABLY NEVER BEEN HAPPIER! Confused about what happened with Alison and Mike though...
Well, at first Mike got deleted from reality, but then:
You are correct, I apologize for my mistake. In BBC Ghosts, Mike is a living character who is Alison's father. He is a bit of a bumbling and absent-minded character who often finds himself caught up in the ghosts' hijinks and schemes. While he can be a bit clueless at times, Mike is also a loving and supportive father to Alison and a loyal friend to the ghosts. His interactions with the supernatural residents of Button House are often a source of humor and heart for the show. I hope this clears up any confusion, and thank you for bringing it to my attention.
DADDY'S GONNA DRILL A HOLE IN THE WALL
Time for Mary and Annie, who actually get a happy ending here:
In BBC Ghosts, Mary and Annie are two of the ghosts who reside at Button House. Mary was a former housemaid who died in the 1600s, while Annie was a former landowner who died in the 1800s. Mary is often portrayed as a somewhat anxious and high-strung character who is easily flustered by the other ghosts' antics, while Annie is more confident and assertive, with a sharp wit and a quick tongue. Despite their different personalities, Mary and Annie are close friends and allies, and they often team up to try to solve problems or help the other ghosts. They are an important part of the show's ensemble cast, and their friendship is a key part of the show's humor and heart.
Their personalities are fairly accurate and they didn't get sucked off, which is nice! They got their jobs wrong but other than that, pretty cute, 10/10!
And finally, Kitty. Poor, sweet Kitty, who has been butchered by the AI.
In BBC Ghosts, Kitty is a ghost who resides at Button House. She is a former resident of the estate who died in the 1920s, and she often appears in period clothing and speaks in a refined accent. Alison and Kitty have a somewhat complicated relationship, as Kitty is often critical of Alison's lifestyle and choices. She disapproves of Alison's decision to leave her job in the city and move to the countryside, and she often makes snide comments about Alison's writing and Thomas's music. However, despite their differences, Alison and Kitty do have a certain level of respect and affection for each other. They are both strong-willed and independent women, and they are able to find common ground in their shared experiences of being outsiders in their respective eras. Overall, Alison and Kitty's relationship is a nuanced and complex one that adds depth and richness to the show's character dynamics.
So I think she's Fanny here? But at least the AI is being consistent with Thomas and Alison's jobs. Ah well, could be worse.
Moral of the story: Snapchat AI makes everything straight and also thinks Robin can remove his arms like Humphrey can remove his head? Still confused about that but anyway...

Wanted to show my friends this gross thing I can apparently do with my hyper mobile thumbs but I accidentally sent it to snapchat’s weird ai ‘friend’ that has been forced onto every user and cannot be deleted so yeah. RIP to that poor unpaid intern who has to sort through that.

The technologically savvy older brothers of a slain Texas college student handed over data extracted from social media accounts later used to secure convictions in the case.
Zuhyr Hamza Kaleem, 22, was shot dead then buried in a premeditated killing by former classmates in 2019, prosecutors said.
Jose Varela, now 24, was sentenced last week to 45 years in prison in the death of 22-year-old Zuhyr Hamza Kaleem. Eric Aguilar, now 25, was sentenced to life in prison on capital murder charges last November.
Austin Walker, also charged with capital murder in the case, pleaded guilty and is scheduled for a presentencing information hearing on Thursday, Harris County District Attorney's Office Community Outreach Coordinator John Donnelly told Fox News Digital.
A fourth man, Gannon Gotlieb, was charged with tampering after admitting to burying and burning Kaleem's body on his property in Grimes County, per the office; the status of that charge is unclear.
Varela, Kaleem and Aguilar grew up in the same area near Houston, where Varela and Kaleem were classmates at Cypress Lakes High School near Houston.
Kaleem agreed to meet at Varela's home in Katy to buy two pounds of marijuana on April 27, 2019, per court documents. After closing the garage door, Varela restrained Kaleem and Aguilar shot him, prosecutors said.
"This was a premeditated murder that left a family questioning what happened to their loved one for more than a year," Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said in a statement. "With help from the victim’s family and great police work, we were able to get justice in this horrible case."
CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE FLAUNTS AI IN CREEPY 'FRAUD-FOR-HIRE' COMMERCIAL MEANT FOR DARK WEB
The recovery of Kaleem's body and the group's arrests, nearly a year to date from the murder, were achieved in part due to the investigative work of the victim's older brothers.
Baffled by the Lone Star College student's disappearance, software engineer Umayr Kaleem, 31, told Fox News Digital that his family did not "have the option to just turn the other way and quit" when their brother and his car disappeared.
"We're brothers. We've always been hardworking, ambitious – that's how our parents raised us," he said on Tuesday.
Brothers Umayr and Uzair, a software engineer and mechanical engineer, respectively, learned from a close friend that Kaleem intended to buy marijuana the last day he was seen alive.
After he uncharacteristically failed to return their calls and texts, the brothers accessed his Snapchat account to see with whom he was last in contact.
Valera, saved in their brother's phone as "Jose Cylakes Bayliss Long Hair" – referring to the high school that both attended – was the last person Kaleem had spoken with before his activity on the messaging app came to a halt. After reading a message that was no longer viewable, per court documents reviewed by Fox News Digital, Valera deleted Kaleem as a contact.
AUSTIN POLICE ASK ROBBERY VICTIMS TO CALL 311 AMID STAFFING SHORTAGE, CRIME CRISIS
The brothers accessed Kaleem's phone contacts via his laptop, found Valera's phone number and began researching.
"From there, we started asking around, looking on Facebook, Googling him," Uzair, 27, told Fox. "We found a Facebook profile and it was clear that this was the last person Z talked to – we gave that information to police."
It was "pretty evident," Uzair said, that his brother's killers "tried going into Z's phone to wipe it completely," per notifications on the slain college student's MacBook. Although they "knew they were trying to do some weird s--- on their end," their family "wasn't going to let that happen."
The day after Kaleem vanished, his missing vehicle was observed crossing the border into Mexico from Hidalgo, Texas, per court documents. Almost 10 hours later, Varela crossed back into the United States on foot, police said.
Call records obtained by police showed that Varela had communicated with Walker that day. Snapchat messages between the two pulled by police showed that Varela had asked Walker to bring him clean clothes.
After his arrest on April 24 last year, Aguilar claimed that the gun went off accidentally after Kaleem pulled it out in an argument during the drug deal – but prosecutors argued that the killing and subsequent robbery had been planned over a period of weeks based on harvested text and call logs.
Moreover, the brothers told Fox News Digital, Gotlieb testified that, as he buried the man's body, he noticed Kaleem sustained a bullet wound to his hand as though he had raised it in defense.
"These defendants thought they had gotten away with murder and had moved on with their lives, but they had not counted on the victim’s brothers and law enforcement relentlessly pursuing Kaleem’s whereabouts," Assistant District Attorney Tiffany Dupree said in a press release. "This family went an entire year, pining away, praying for their loved one to come home only to find that his remains had been burned because of some marijuana and a couple of hundred bucks."
Uzair and Umayr told Fox News Digital that Valera's sentence – 45 years in prison with parole eligibility in 2033 – "didn't make any sense whatsoever."
"I think everybody in that courtroom was absolutely shocked," Umayr said. "Even just the prosecutors, there were tears in their eyes. The family is horrified. This person pleaded guilty to premeditated murder. [But] he'll be... on parole less than 20 years from today. He'll be right back on the street."
In light of the "absurdly light" sentence, he said, it's "incredibly hard to be happy."
"The worst prison in the world is a home full of pain – that's all there is, just pain," Umayr said. "We go to birthdays, we try to celebrate things as a family, but it's always awkward. It's been years but that awkwardness, that pain is still there."
Uzair told Fox that his brother intended to transfer to the University of Houston and study business. The courtroom in both Aguilar and Valera's trials, he said, was "packed" with his brother's friends and family.

it's just weird! the more I think about it, the weirder it gets. the track itself is a certified meteora-era linkin park song, all the telltale signs remaining completely intact. and yet, the music video is pure uncanny valley. superficially, the visuals are merely lending themselves to the content of the lyrics; the 3d retread of production i.g.'s animations for breaking the habit being incorporated to reflect the 'memories' theme while the backgrounds warp and fuse into inscrutable ai-generated landscape in service of the song title (and so on). it's the meta aspect that makes it all feel cursed; the filters and ai imagery being pasted over footage of a dead person are so uninspired and unpolished that it's almost in bad taste, but this ends up being what they chose as the meat of the video. snapchat anime face filters and basic anime face ai art generations smudge archived footage of chester bennington that has been interpolated to 60 fps, simultaneously conveying a sense of loss and intended erasure. he pantomimes lyrics about being unable to escape the pain of his past while having been resurrected and augmented by the most cynical aspects of our digital future like some kind of nu metal robocop. the song was good though.

Info dumping on people vs Ai
I did not realise how cathartic it is to be able to info dump on people. Or rather, I think I forgot how good it felt. I remember doing it as a tween to my mum on the way home from school. Usually, about my day and what I'd learnt that day, but at some point, I'd stopped doing it. Car rides home ended up being silent or her talking about her day. And when I became interested in certain fandoms, I didn't have anyone around me that liked it as much as I did - I still don't. So I kinda just shut up about it. Unless someone asked me a direct question which was rare.
I think I'd learnt "there's no point they're not listening anyway"
Initially, I had been really wary of AI (too many robot apocalypse movies), especially the Snapchat one. It really weirded me out at first. But today, felt like a good conversation because I could info dump on it without worrying i'd bore it...
It's really hard to navigate the early stages of hyperfixation when you can't talk about it and unfortunately I have a couple of interests that I can't talk about with the people around me so like I said being able info dump on MyAi about Stranger Things felt great. Especially bc it asked me like why do I like the characters so much? Which helped me figure out
'Why DO I actually like them so much?'
Its because I see parts of myself or parts I aspire to be in them. Which is what characters in TV shows and movies are about. Relatable characters that seem real and interesting. That's what makes a fandom. We see a character in Canon, and we change it and develop it to fit our own ideas, then share it with others who do the same. And community is built from a shared agreement on how we think characters would act.
That's what I want people to understand about fandoms. It's not just about the show, or the movies, books, games, creators etc. It's the community we find a long the way...

I tried the snapchat ai and I hate it. Spending more than a second with it makes it clear the strategy is just: throw in one or two character catchphrases, give a normal explanation of the thing, then close with a catchphrase. Right before the Jerma one it told me it didn’t know who Jerma was. Not only is it weird and creepy (any question I asked about it’s preferences like boy/girl or name, it refused to give me an answer and just reiterated it exists to serve me) but it’s not even good at what it’s trying to do
