Khushi’s Fashion Makeover

This is my attempt at giving Khushi a reimagined, 2022 makeover, as some of you were curious to see a alternative take.

Khushi was incredibly challenging, compared to Payal. Her fashion is less straightforward and more up to interpretation. Also, being the main character adds another layer of pressure! Idk if I’ll ever get a chance at working for AR but here’s what I came up with:

So I know this is either a hit or miss but I had 3 factors that I had to try and meet … 1. Colourfulness 2. Mobility/Comfort 3. Quirkiness

Khushi is a person who loves colours, she loves being bright and has a very playful personality. It’s also important to dress her in clothes that visually separate her from other characters as she is the main character…so I got all these outfits from brand called Indya, they do really fun, modern and quirky Indian clothes! I feel this brand was perfect for Khushi!

I tried to stay away from sarees because Khushi prefers dresses and churidaar, for mobility reasons ..she’s always running around, energetic, up to some shenanigan! Sanaya is a petite/ Gamine-like woman (a lot like Audrey Hepburn), so she looks the best in fitted silhouettes. I liked the idea of her in sleeveless dresses, just to give her a more youthful, flirty feel (this is her wardrobe post elopement - kidnapping period …so there’s a sexiness and modernisation to her dressing that didn’t exist previously). Also, I know those sets don’t have dupattas, but I would definitely add them …Khushi wouldn’t feel comfortable without one and I think they would make the outfits more elegant.

I chose some sarees too (not that Khushi needs any help in that department, she’s got amazing taste in sarees!)

But these sarees are for a mature, sexier Khushi who’s settled into her marriage and new lifestyle. So they’re very much on the glamorous, sparklier side (a call back to her ‘chamkili’ self!)

Now hair!

I actually love Khushi’s long dramatic hair, it’s very iconic and paired with ^^^ outfits, it would look amazing. I’m just not a fan of when it’s pinned from the sides, I feel it looks a bit dated. I much prefer it long, open and dramatic.

Alternatively, the curtain bang style she sported in the serial Rangrasiya really highlighted her Gamine features (again, like Audrey Hepburn). I know she had a fringe in the later episodes of IPK but I feel it wasn’t styled as nicely as it was in RR.

I think it would have paired nicely with the fitted, vibrant clothes.

I want to just add an alternative style too…as the above style is a bit unconventional! Khushi looks amazing in Jewelled tones so I could also see her wearing a collection of high-end Anarkalis and elegant suits.

I don’t know if I completely missed the mark with this one, I certainly won’t be getting that job at AR but again, this was really fun! 🥰

"Hahahaha...." The laugh echoed through the room...

"stop laughing..." The girl said while glaring at the boy...

Instead of stopping, he laughed hard. She threw a pillow on him but he dodged it. She pouted and sat on the bed.

He controlled his laugh and said "what to do sana... You only said na that... (Imitating her) mom... don't worry ... I'll wear saree and will look very beautiful in that..."

Sana looked down and said "i thought I would have learned by now... But it's difficult yoongi..."

Yoongi smiled and came towards her. Sitting next to her he said "it's fine sana... you don't have to wear it...*

She shook her head and said "i promised mom... how can I back out now..."

Yoongi and sana are engaged a week before. They both were college friends but not in relationship. When their parents set up their marriage both of them agreed as they were not dating anyone and liked each other's company. To know each other better, after engagement they started living together but nothing physical happened between them till now.

Yoongi's mother held a party and wanted to introduce her to family friends. She wanted her to be unique so she asked sana to wear a saree. That time, she confidently said yes but till now, she didn't learn how to wear it.

Yoongi looked at her upset face and said "okay you don't worry... I'll help you in that..."

She lift her face immediately and asked surprised"what... I mean... You know how..."

He shook his head and said "i don't... but we both can try... After all from now we have to help each other and walk together on same path..."

She felt her cheeks getting heated by this. After getting engaged, yoongi's behaviour changed a bit to her. He became more caring and sometimes flirt with her which makes her heart flutter. She nodded and said "I'll come wearing blouse and inskirt... "

Yoongi nodded and said "till then I'll watch some videos..."

With this, sana went in washroom and he started watching some tutorials. 'it's a bit tough... how it's going... and the folds ... ' he looked at the pink shiffon saree with golden thin border infront of him. He took the saree and started draping on himself for practice.

Meanwhile, sana came out from washroom and saw him trying to wear saree, not so perfectly, and laughed a bit. Yoongi looked at her and was awestruck seeing her. Her golden sleeveless blouse and slim-fit inskirt were showing her curves perfectly. And her bare waist..

"Yoongi..." He came out of his thoughts hearing his name. She came towards him and said "seems you've learned it... now help me..."

Yoongi nodded and took off the saree from him. Holding the edge, he went at back of her. Tugging the edge in the inskirt, he started draping it around her. He only knew how he was controlling himself from touching her. On the other side, she was also feeling shivers from his touch.

Making the plates, he carefully tugged it inside making sure he doesn't touch her inappropriately. Finally, he draped the pallu.

"You're looking beautiful..." He commented while seeing her. She shyly looked down and mumbled 'thanks'.

She looked herself in mirror and said "wow... this is really looking nice on me..."

Yoongi smiled and dragged her to the chair and made her sit on it.

"wha..."

He cut her off "let me get you ready..."

He took the comb and gently started combing her hairs. Taking hairpins, he made a beautiful hairstyle for her. After that, he applied a little blush and eye shadow to her and a reddish pink lipstick to complement the saree. Then, he took necklace and made her wear that along with earrings. He made a proper bangle set for her and slowly slid it in her hands.

Sana was overwhelmed by all of this. She never thought yoongi would do such things for her. Since college days, he was known as a cold cat but she didn't know this cold cat can be this soft for her.

Applying a bindi, he said "done..." She looked at herself and said "you made me look so beautiful yoongi..."

He smiled and said "we should go now... " He turned to leave when she held his hand and got up. He looked at her and she placed a kiss on his cheek saying "thanks..."

His cheeks got red by her touch and he said shyly "welcome... let's go else we'll be late..."

"yeah..."

They both went towards the venue. When they reached there, yoongi hesitantly forwarded his arms. She understood and blushed while encircling her arms with his. They both entered the venue together and everyone was awestruck seeing them. They were looking perfect together.

Throughout the party, yoongi was taking glances on her and she was quite aware of that. Her blushing cheeks and shy eyes were the evidence of his gaze on her. His mother was introducing sana to her friends and yoongi was lost in her.

His thoughts 'how can she look so simple and elegant at the same time... I think today is the perfect day to confess my feelings for her... Hope she feels the same...'

His thoughts were interrupted by the announcement of dj for couple dance. Clearing his throat, he went towards sana and forwarded his hand saying "can i have a dance with you..."

Sana smiled and kept her hand on his saying "sure..."

He pulled her towards himself and her breath got heavy sensing him this close. He took her to dance floor and hesitantly kept his one hand on her bare waist. She closed her eyes feeling his touch but he thought she's uncomfortable. So, he slowly removed his hand. But, to his surprise, she took his hand and kept it back there.

Before he could say anything, she said " I'm not uncomfortable... Just a bit nervous..."

He smiled saying "I'll remove that too slowly..."

She blushed and looked down. They started dancing smoothly on the music forgetting about everyone present in the party. For them, presence of each other became enough to fill up the place.

After the party

They both reached room and sana removed her heels saying "it was bit exhausting... But a very nice party..."

Yoongi nodded at her statement but his eyes were stuck on her. She was about to remove her hairpins when he said "stop..."

She looked at him confused and said "what happened yoongi..."

He came towards her and encircled her waist with his arms saying "don't you think i should remove the things i made you wear... (leaning close and whispered in her ears) or maybe whole thing..."

She closed her eyes and said "what are you doing..."

He caressed her cheeks and said "i love you sana... I don't know since when... Maybe when we got engaged... but i think it doesn't matter... I fell for you..."

She opened her eyes hearing his confession and said *you know what... the feeling is mutual...(cupping his cheek) i fell for you too..."

He smiled widely and said "so... Will you allow me..."

She blushed and looked down while nodding slightly. He smiled and gently removed the hairpins from her hair and placed a soft kiss there. She clutched his coat feeling the touch of his soft lips. His hands made way to remove her bindi and he bend a bit kissing her forehead. He took a tissue with makeup remover on it and removed her eye makeup while gently kissing her eyes. She looked at him lovingly and he said "if i go like this... I will end up making love to you..."

She smiled and held his hand which was holding the tissue and wiped her lipstick with it. Seeing him hesitant, she said "won't you place a kiss here after removing lipstick..."

He was a bit stunned by her bold move but smiled and leaned closer. Her grip on his coat became strong when she felt his lips touch hers. Slowly, they started moving their lips in sync and the atmosphere around them became more hot and romantic.

He trailed his kiss down on her neck while removing her necklace. She moaned a bit feeling her soft skin being sucked. He took her hands and kissed it throughout removing the bangles and biting the soft skin. Her breath was becoming heavy with his each kiss. He turned her back and sides her hairs. His fingers touched her bare back and she shivered a bit.
