Guys. Skybreakers and windrunners having basic lashings means something incredible that I just realized.

People can touch black holes. And maybe survive.

Idk if lashings change in strength to match the gravity, but assuming they do a windrunner or skybreaker could just do a half lashing away from a black hole and just go touch it and then come back. Like you could go into the event horizon and return. Because your body basically isn't experiencing gravity.

Being a Skybreaker makes you the protagonist of a buddy cop movie. You’re the cop & your spren is the buddy you’re devoted to above all others

Someday I’m going to make a post that’s about how the Skybreakers probably swore themselves more to a guiding philosophy about ethics and morality than to the law itself back in the pre-Recreance times, and how that meshes with fifth-Ideal Skybreakers “becoming the law” and Szeth’s personal character arcs and Nale being able to murder people for minor crimes that do not justify execution despite having actually sworn Skybreaker oaths. Until now, it’s probably important to remember that the Skybreakers as we see them now are a fallen order that’s drifted away from what they were meant to be.

Moash should be a shybreaker. (And not cause of justice is blind thing. His blindness should just be blindness. An injury not a punishment)

Teft was although a friend. Was an enemy combatant.

Yes he is vindictive. His greatest flaw is that he is gullible. He is loyal until he isn't.

And he seems to get betrayed by every ideal he swear.

But in the end. He didn't, as much got betrayed by people, as much as he got betrayed by the institution.

There was simply nothing he could do once the law was thrown out the window. And vengeance is just another face of justice.

So having him as a skybreaker who is devoted to an ideal and at the end becoming law itself seems a better arc. And having been on side of the vengeance he can judge better. And unlike nale, Moah isn't a machine. He wants to be but he isn't. He understands compassion and forgiveness.

He is one of my favorite characters. It would be interesting to see whom he chooses as his third ideal.

Alternatively.

He can be an awakened radiant (corrupted) As he is shunned by both human and singer. Seems like he would fit within the awakened truthwatchers. And purely cause it be funny. He hated renarin. Or hated the idea of him.

But renarin is such a sunshine boy if anyone can make moash see past his hateded its renarin.

He should not be dead. He should live and learn and grow and grow old.

Not as a cautionary tale but as a reminder that we can make better choices.

As I’ve said before, I’m blind. There are a lot of things in Stormlight that I’ve never quite been able to grasp, because I can’t get my hands on them.

A wonderful friend embroidered the Skybreaker and Edgedancer glyphs, and sent them to me. As soon as I felt them, I had a thought about the differences between those two glyphs. Here’s what I came up with:

It’s fascinating that the glyphs are similar in their general shape/outline, but the details are pretty different. Almost all of the lines in the Edgedancer glyph are connected in some form, but almost none of the lines in the Skybreaker one are. I just realized that the Edgedancer glyph looks a little like the branches of some kind of plant, but I don’t know if that’s intentional or not.

What I want to focus on is the difference in how connected the lines of each glyph are, and how that’s reflected in the Orders.

The lines in the Skybreaker glyph still work together to form a cohesive whole, but each of them is also separated from the others. There’s also that one in the middle that sticks up by itself, which makes me think of Nale . The Skybreakers have a rigid structure that comes together to form the Order, but there’s none of the closeness or connection we see with the Windrunners , for example. It’s very formal and utilitarian, and that seems to reflect in the glyph.

The lines in the Edgedancer glyph all connect together, and each is a vital part of making the glyph complete. It makes me think of the Edgedancer Ideals to remember those who are forgotten and listen to those who are ignored. We don’t know much about the structure of the Order, but I can guarantee that it’s a lot less rigid and defined than the Skybreakers .

I think that’s the closest I can get to what I was thinking. I don’t know if there’s actually anything there, or if I just made false connections when I felt those glyphs for the first time

It, surprisingly, only took 5 hours.

A little tidbit of info on Alani: if Honorspren had recruited earlier, Alani would probably be a Windrunner. Most of her ideals and personal views focus on making sure innocents aren’t abused under the law— which, upon being mentored by the Skybreakers, she approached it with a more ‘-while following the law aswell’ type way. The threat of accidentally killing Zenel binds her to her Ideals tightly, and she strives to be more strict in her law-following— she doesn’t enjoy the way some Skybreakers find loopholes in the law. (Again, alot of Windrunner energy with her.)
