I made a ref sheet for my DND char's mom. I had originally just provided Malaika to my dm as a quick ref and didn't expect that she was going to actually play her. I was a fool. So I decided to revisit her for that reason as well as the fact that I realized that the first iteration of her hair didn't make sense to me, so I had to bust out CSP's 3d models to figure it out.

Malaika is the 7th of 13 siblings that are scattered throughout Faerun and beyond. Quite a few of them are druids and frequent their local bogs while the others reside in normal villages and have average families and lives. Malaika has lot's of nieces and nephews, which is one of the reasons she never bothered to have another child after Opal. That and the fact that raising a Genasi baby has its challenges.
She is an elderly woman anywhere 60-100 years old (she will not divulge the information regarding her birth date or season) at 5'10" give or take a few inches when her back isn't hurting, she is a woman of substantial stature and sharp features. Her broad shoulders are often covered by her hair and her favorite dark-grey robe that drapes all the way down to her feet and drags on the ground. It has accumulated so many rips, tears and grime over the years that you cant really see the gold-inlaid floral patterns that line the bottom.
Malaika is more of a doer than a talker —unless there's a book involved. There is a reason why she chose to take ownership of the shop instead of the other 12 siblings. With her warm, measured tone, she could recite the entire history stored in the Baldur’s gate anthology as easy as she could tell you where to find the Scrying 101 books.

Hero couldn’t believe that Villain would take them on another mission. Not after they had failed so terribly.
“Existing is your mission, and you’re doing a great job.”
That’s what Villain had said, but Hero couldn’t believe it. Couldn’t believe that some punishment was lurking somewhere. Waiting for Hero. Perhaps Villain was waiting until Hero had finally calmed down, settled in, and then they would spring the pain. That’s what Superhero had done.
“I wouldn’t normally ask you for this, Hero,” Villain said as they guided the vehicle to the destination. “But I do need someone to back me up on this one. And everyone’s away, so it’s just you and me. And I won’t be upset if you can’t do it. We can always go home and try another day.”
“I can do it. I’ll help you.” Hero had been so eager to prove to Villain that they were useful. That they had value.
Of course, everything had gone wrong. Hero had frozen the moment they saw where they were headed. They weren’t headed to Base. But they were going to a facility that Base protected. “Villain, I-I-I,”
“Breathe, Hero. It’s ok. I won’t make you go in. I just need you to keep the vehicle ready to go. That’s all. I won’t make you see any of those people again.” Villain pulled their cowl up and over their face. “I’ll be back soon. If I’m not back in ten minutes, don’t come looking for me. Head home and call Supervillain and tell them it’s all fucked.”
“I can’t abandon you.” Hero wouldn’t look at Villain. They couldn’t look because they would see the pity and the disappointment. And they couldn’t bear it.
Villain’s soft, warm hand was suddenly on their cheek, guiding Hero’s eyes up. “You can. And you will. If I’m not back in ten minutes, I’m not coming back at all. And you need to keep on your mission I gave you, Hero. It’s the most important one.”
The ten minutes alone passed painstakingly slow. Hero hated every second of the waiting. And Villain did not return. But Hero couldn’t leave them behind. Not after everything Villain had done. With a shaky breath, Hero darted out of the vehicle and into the facility. Get in and get Villain. Get in and get Villain. Get in and get Villain.
Hero froze once more as they found Villain, pinned beneath Superhero. They could see that Villain still drew breath, but they were in the worst shape they had ever seen anyone in before. Even Hero hadn’t been beaten that badly before.
Before Hero could react and draw attention to themself, Superhero turned. “You?”
And that was all it took to set Hero loose. Hero raced forward, all their hidden rage, sadness, and fear balled into one. “LET THEM GO!” Hero roared as they pounced on Superhero.
Superhero blocked Hero’s first attack. “You’re protecting Villain? You? What gives you the right?”
“They’re kind. They’re nice. They offer friendship, peace, and caring. They are everything you are not.”
Superhero smirked. “Those aren’t things you deserve for failure, Hero.”
“They are things I deserve! Everyone deserves them. I deserved them just because I exist!”
Hero didn’t let Superhero reply. They pummeled Superhero until Villain’s voice made them stop. “H-H-Hero, that’sssss, enou-enou-enough,” Villain wheezed. “D-D-Don’tttt waste yourrrr en-en-energy.” Villain had managed to roll over enough to prop themself on a shaking elbow.
Hero stopped, their chest heaving. They had never let loose like that before. Organization kept them on a tight leash. So did Superhero. “Villain! How bad is it? What can I do?”
Villain lay back once more, closing their eyes slowly. “T-T-Take me h-h-homeee.” Villain’s voice was barely a whisper.
Hero started forward, carefully scooping Villain into their arms. “I’m sorry. So sorry. I’m sorry,” they murmured as Villain whimpered at the movement. “This is my fault. You shouldn’t have gone in alone. I’m sorry.”
“‘Skay.” Villain’s eyes fluttered open. “’Skay, ‘ero.” Villain’s eyes closed once more and they didn’t open them again.
“I’ll get you home. You’re ok. You’re ok. You’re ok.” Hero repeated the mantra the entire way back to Lair. They repeated the mantra the entire time it took them to carry Villain to the med bay. And they repeated it the entire time as they waited for Villain to wake.

For the mun from a curious anon: What got you into Minecraft askblogging of all fandoms? Is it an interest in a certain type of Mob? Inspired by a veteran mcaskblogger? For fun/curiosity? Or something else? Thank you!
Well.. It started back in Middle School for me!
I had taken an interest in Minecraft as a kid, and upon looking at fanart I inevitably stumbled upon the askblog fandom. Seeing Endy and the others for the first time sparked an interest for me! Though I didn't make an askblog back then, I did make an Enderman OC named Skai, and had a lil' mock "askblog" via a notebook and asking my friends if they wanted to ask him anything! (I also did this with non-MC OCs, lmao)
While he's not an active character of mine anymore, he still lives on in a way, as Ammo was my method of 'reincarnating' Skai before his story became a little more developed (albeit my continuous hiatus doesn't show it that much)

Fast forward to 2021, and my interest in delving back into a bit of nostalgia sent me back into the askblog side of Tumblr, where I saw an ad for the MC Askblog Discord server. An opportunity to meet some of the artists that I had looked up to in Middle School was a click away- but I didn't have an actual askblog.
So Hider and Spooks were created! And thus I was able to delve into the server and further into the community. Albeit it was initially for a chance to talk to my childhood inspirations, I had been given a different outcome- one I wouldn't trade for the world.
I found myself within the midst of a welcoming and stunning community full of talented artists and blooming stories. I grew genuinely invested in my characters and began to toss together a story for them (as messy as it was at the start ^^") while becoming engrossed in others' tales and characters. I met new faces, talked, theory-crafted, laughed, drew, roleplayed, and watched as my art improved alongside so may others. I had made a cozy spot in this fandom, one that I continue to enjoy dearly.
Not only that, but I've become surrounded by cherished friends and memories alike from my stay here, and I look forward to meeting them all in person one day! Heck, maybe one day, I'd become the same inspiration to somebody else...
So I'd say I wound up here from a mix of several factors! Inspiration, love for the silly 'lil Minecraft mobs, storytelling, art... A little bit of everything, really.
I hope my answer is sufficient, and I want to thank this fandom and community for being so kind hearted and welcoming! I look forward to continuing to make my place here <3

Here is an unnecessarily long explanation of who I am and what I like,
I go by Sylvanie or Skay (and many other weird nicknames), I'm french quite new to tumblr. I'm a lesbian and use any pronouns. My gender is pure confusion and fun 🌈
I'm mentally unwell and I'm literally sick all the time 🥲
Linguistics/Litterature
I am a big fan of linguistics and a bit of nerd, I cherish etymology and phonetics. I speak French (native), English (second language), Spanish (conversational level) and a bit of Dutch (i started learning it recently).
I also happen to love literature, books and fanfictions. I sometimes write poetry, short texts or my novel. I write both in English and French and love reading in both.
Formula 1
I'm a formula 1 fan and you'll probably see me complaining about it in here. I'm a fan of Williams and McLaren as teams and my favourite drivers are Alex Albon and Oscar Piastri. I also like LN4, CL16 and MV1. Past drivers NR6, SV5, KR7
World building/Art
I love world building and art, I paint (acrylic and oil) and sometimes draw, I also do calligraphy and love making maps. I work quite a lot on my world building that consists of many fantasy worlds, I have a conlang too and I like making ciphers. I create OCs and lots of lore aswell. realizing that on top of Koryu SAM (Name STILL pending after so long) i have four (main) ffxiv OCs so i could assign them to the four lords for funsies. Not actual assignments ofc, but I thought it would be fun to draw them all together with the 4+1 Lords as a theme.
It's... surprisingly hard to get more in-depth, consistent information on what each beast represents, other than direction, element, and season. I tried finding virtues associated with each, but each source I found gave a different answer. I gave it my best shot, though!
Ava - Seiryu/Qinglong. Of course I'm giving Ava the dragon. While XIV associates him with water, he's more traditionally associated with wood/wind - Perfect for a dragoon who soars through the sky. It's also associated with leadership and gives luck with victory.
Sayin - Genbu/Xuanwu. The black tortoise seems to have roots in a form of fortune-telling where the tortoise would commune with ancestors in the realm of the dead. Fortune-telling and family are key aspects to Sayin's character. In addition, Genbu also is represented by the time of midnight.
Opheliaux - Byakko/Baihu. The biggest stretch. According to some, Byakko helps with business/money luck, and Opheliaux is a merchant. Byakko also seems to represent benevolence. Finally, Byakko is associated with the element of metal, written 金 (gold), and there's a link there with alchemy and the gold accents in Liaux's fashion.
Skay - Suzaku/Zhuque. Perhaps the most regal of the four lords, Suzaku gives fortune with love in Japanese astrology. According to some, the Vermillion Bird also leads one to immortality. Also, what Black Mage doesn't love a good Astral Fire?
I considered having Skay represent Genbu as the black tortoise is actually a tortoise and snake intertwined, and that dualistic nature could be cool to incorporate Baal into the mix -- plus, Genbu has an association with longevity as well.
I also pondered switching Byakko (Liaux) and Seiryu (Ava) as Byakko is a war deity and Seiryu also gives luck in business, but I was really adamant about giving Ava the dragon lol.

Arrests made amid fears hundreds of migrants may have died in boat that capsized off Greece
Rescuers scoured the seas off Greece on Thursday following a shipwreck that killed at least 78 migrants, as hopes of finding survivors dwindled and fears grew that hundreds more, including children, may have drowned inside the crowded vessel's hold.
Reports suggested between 400 and 750 people had packed the fishing boat that capsized and sank early on Wednesday morning in deep waters about 80 kilometres from the southern coastal town of Pylos. Greek authorities said 104 survivors had been brought ashore.
Outside the coast guard office in the port city of Kalamata, where survivors were transferred, a Syrian man whose wife was missing sought answers.
Kassam Abozeed, who lives in Germany, said he last heard from his wife, Israa, eight days ago. She had paid 4,124 euros ($5,940 Cdn) to travel on the boat, the 34-year-old said, showing a photograph of her on his phone.
The search operation had not recovered any bodies in more than 24 hours, and victims' bodies were transferred to a cemetery near Athens for DNA tests.
9 men arrested
Government sources said chances of retrieving the sunken vessel were remote because of the depth of the water.
A shipping ministry official said nine Egyptians were arrested over the shipwreck. Greek TV Skai reported that, according to witnesses, the vessel departed from Egypt and stopped at the Libyan port of Tobruk before setting sail for Italy.

A European rescue-support charity said there could have been 750 people on the 20- to 30 metre-long boat. The UN's International Organization for Migration said initial reports suggested up to 400 people were aboard. Its refugee agency, the UNHCR, said hundreds were feared missing.
"The shipwreck off Pylos marks one of the largest sea tragedies in the Mediterranean in recent memory," Maria Clara, the UNHCR representative in Greece, told Reuters.
Pope Francis, who visited Greece two years ago to draw attention to the plight of refugees, was "deeply dismayed to learn of the shipwreck … with its devastating loss of life," the Vatican said in a statement.
'Our last night alive'
Independent refugee activist Nawal Soufi said in a Facebook post that she was in contact with migrants aboard the vessel from the early hours of Tuesday until 11 p.m. local time.
"The whole time they asked me what they should do and I kept telling them that Greek help would come. In this last call, the man I was talking to expressly told me: 'I feel that this will be our last night alive,' " she wrote.
Greece is one of the main routes into the European Union for refugees and migrants from the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
Aerial pictures of the boat released by Greek authorities hours before it sank showed dozens of people on the boat's upper and lower decks looking up, some with arms outstretched.

Survivors say more than a hundred migrant children may have been on the boat that sank off the coast of Greece, adding layers to the tragedy. Family members of some on board say they paid smugglers thousands of dollars for the crossing.
But Greek officials said people on the crowded decks repeatedly turned down attempted assistance from a Greek coast guard boat shadowing it, saying they wanted to reach Italy.
"You cannot carry out a violent diversion on such a vessel with so many people on board … without any sort of co-operation," coast guard spokesperson Nikos Alexiou told state broadcaster ERT.
Alarm Phone, which operates a trans-European network supporting rescue operations and received alerts from people on board a ship in distress off Greece late on Tuesday, said the captain fled on a small boat.
Government officials said that before capsizing and sinking at around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, the vessel's engine stopped and it began veering from side to side.
'Watery graves'
On Thursday evening, thousands of protesters rallied in Athens and the northern city of Thessaloniki demanding European Union migration policies be relaxed. A group of protesters in Athens hurled petrol bombs at police who responded with tear gas.
In Kalamata, protesters marched outside the migrants' shelter. "No to the EU's pact on migration," read one banner.
EU migration policy "turns the Mediterranean, our seas, into watery graves," leftist Greek leader Alexis Tsipras, prime minister in 2015-2019 at the peak of Europe's migration crisis, said during a visit in Kalamata on Thursday.
Under a conservative government in power until last month, Greece took a harder stance on migration, building walled camps and boosting border controls.

The United Nations has registered more than 20,000 deaths and disappearances in the central Mediterranean since 2014, making it the most dangerous migrant crossing in the world.
