This is an older interview with Jared Padalecki and Nicholas Knight from the Supernatural Magazine issue #2 (Feb/Mar 2008), pages 10 to 15. [x]
"Another reason why Padalecki felt at home so quickly is his relationship with Jensen Ackles, who plays his onscreen brother, Dean. It's common knowledge that both of the actors are from Texas and that certainly helped them relate to one another, but it's their personal relationships with their siblings that truly set the foundation for their relationship. 'I have an older brother and a younger sister. And Jensen has an older brother and a younger sister as well', Padalecki points out. 'My brother and I are super close. When Dean and Sam get along, that's how my brother and I get along. We definitely tease each other. My brother and I will rib each other all the time, but there are no punches thrown. It's pretty laid back'.
'I think the reason Jensen and I got along so well was because we really didn't go about bonding', Padalecki continues. It didn't feel like a blind date. It felt like we were continuing a relationship as opposed to saying 'Alright, we're supposed to hang out with each other, so let's go play Basketball or something.' We just sort of hung out. It was really lucky. We just hit it off immediately. There's no rhyme or reason to what happened.'"
Hmm, are you possibly referencing this blind date story you mentioned a couple issues later, Jared?
Family Man
"Whenever Padalecki does get a rare free moment, enjoying the sites of Vancouver isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. That honor goes to his family, who are much too far away for the actor's liking. 'I remember I had a conversation with my father one time, and he said, ‘Well, can’t you just call me for five minutes?’ And I was like, 'I don’t want to just call you for five minutes. If I’m calling my father, I want to talk to you for a while. You know what I mean? I want to know how your life is going and I have a good hour conversation at least.’
You act for free- you get paid to wait.’ In a 14 hour work day on set, you're waiting a lot, but you can't just go running around like a chicken with its head cut off. You have to keep in character, and you use that time to try and make the scene better, not make phone calls and stuff. So, when I’m working. I definitely put everything else on hold.”
That “everything else” includes Padalecki’s love life, although the actor still tries to see his longtime girlfriend, Sandra McCoy, whenever possible. “She and I visit as much as we can," he discloses. “I'll come back to L.A. on the weekends, or she'll come up to Vancouver. But it’s not as easy as it could be.” Padalecki and McCoy met on the set of the movie Cry Wolf. And while they enjoyed working together at the time, they have differing views about repeating the experience.
"I’d [like to], but I think she probably doesn’t feel the same. I think she’s like, 'You do your thing. I'll do my thing.’ It’s definitely not as easy as it was when I was on Gilmore Girls and living five miles away from her, but we make it work. Spending time with his girlfriend, chilling with his friends and family, hanging out with Ackles… all these things take time away from something else that Padalecki bves - sleep. “I really like to sleep,” he chuckles. ‘That's the first thing that comes to mind because that’s what I’m most deprived of! I remember I used to watch my father go to sleep watching television and I was like, ‘How can you sleep? It’s not even dark in here.'"
Green Screen
"For Padalecki, keeping in shape isn't the most challenging aspect of working on Supernatural. “It’s definitely the green screen.” the actor states. It’s one thing to sit and talk to somebody and have a conversation - I’ve done movies and plays where you’re performing a monologue, and that’s always easy. But when they say, ‘Right, look at this wall. This X mark is the face of a visual effect that we haven’t made yet. so you're just going to have to imagine something scar>’ - that’s definitely the hardest part. It’s not like pulling teeth or anything. but it’s definitely weird. I always find myself thinking, ‘I hope they make this thing look scary because I’m going to act scared, so I hope they don’t sell me out."'
Of course, behind the scenes of a show like Supernatural, it would only seem natural that strange things would happen, and Padalecki confirms that there are inexplicable things going on in the shadows. ''You always say, "Oh. It's just a breeze.'” he laughs. “But I remember one time we were filming an episode called Skin, which is one of my favorites. We were filming in this house, and there was a clock on the wall and it just fell off and everybody was looking around and all the crew guys were like, ‘All right, back to work.’ When things like that happen, you just don’t want to look any further into it, you know?"

Jared and Genevieve choosing October 24th, 2008 as the day they fictitiously decided to enter into a ‘serious’ relationship with each other.
I’m sure it seemed like it would add an extra little boost of significance to the timing of their staged engagement on October 24th, 2009.
You know…like the proposal was a tribute to exactly one full year of ‘mutually exclusive commitment’ between the two of them.
And to clarify, they didn’t mention any of this; meaning the specifics of when they had officially become a ‘serious couple’ until after their engagement went public, and that was just one of the many necessary milestones they would swiftly need to fabricate (and then remember, which…don’t even get me started) as they pieced together a ‘dating timeline’ that would hopefully be convincing enough to sell their completely out-of-the-blue engagement and marriage.
And when I say out-of-the-blue…boyyyy do I mean it, because for anyone who wasn’t paying attention to the comings and goings of the Js way back then (christ…fifteen years…good grief), the Jared/Genevieve ‘reveal’ happened essentially like this:
Jared vs. romance, post-Sandra McCoy: he’s single, single…single, yada yada, single some more- (except obviously he’s ‘secretly’ with Jensen, and by ‘secretly’ I mean the entire universe knows it…*AHEM*), but yep…still single, sinnngle, wow these gay rumors sure are gaining a sudden huge amount of traction, but anyway…single, sin-
-BOOM, now there’s this one stray article speculating that he mayyy (or may not) have a girlfriend, and…wait, huh? Who dat? What’s-
Oh okay, I guess he really DOES have a girlfriend, and wait, they-they…they’re actually super girlfriend-y/boyfriend-y, or…
They’re engaged?
Yes, they’re engaged!
DUH.
It’s Genevieve. Genevieve and Jared. And, in fact, they’ve been serious and lovey-dovey lovebirds for quite a while, now.
So, um……..psych!
Yes, this is 100% normal, because whether you know it or not, you did actually know about it the whole time.
Yes you did.
NOPE, DON’T EVEN.
YES YOU DID.

YOU.

…….
Seriously, though.
I cannot overstate the bizarreness of watching it all unfold in real time…of witnessing the way this relationship that ABSOLUTELY WAS NOT ANYWHERE TO BE FOUND…EVER was being framed and talked about as if it had been right there, right in front of us…progressing normally and not at all suspiciously to the point where it was just like finally, it’s finally just time for these two crazy kids to stroll down that aisle and tie the knot.
……
When meanwhile, in real life, it was pretty much just a giant -
Plus throw in everything that was suddenly going down with Jensen and Danneel AT THE SAME EXACT TIME (like…no joke, though…and then both engagements materializing on the same frickin’ weekend for christ’s sake??)

*By the way, the Jensen/Danneel fauxmance unfolded in a way that was equally as dumbfounding and twilight zone-ish as the Jared/Genevieve fauxmance but for completely different reasons, which I’ll rant and rave about in another post, because I have a LOT (a lot a lot) to say about that, too.*

But back to the Jared/Gen fauxmance and the dates I started this whole thing with.
Because remember the journalist who authored that epic article after interviewing the Js in which she famously wrote that they “share more than just a mortgage”? (they were still publicly living together at the time)
That lovely little chat happened to occur in late December of 2008.
And…but-…but…
Hmmm…🧐
According to Jared…during that interview (again, in late December, 2008), he was “very single.”
He wasn’t even just “single.”
He was “very single.”
He wasn’t “maybe casually seeing a girl.”
He wasn’t “dating a girl” but just not quite ready to name names.
He wasn’t “well…you’ll find out soon enough *wink wink*.”
Nope.
He was living with his best friend (*cough-HUSBAND-cough*) and “very single.”
Lol. So, um, then…
Well, fast forward to Jared and Genevieve’s engagement, October 24th, 2009…
-shortly after which we were informed about the whole October 24th also being the one year anniversary of the day they both decided it was time to fully commit to each other as a long-term, exclusive couple thing.
Except…two full months PAST that special day -
(October 24th to late December)
Jared.
Is.
“Very single.”

Chapter 10: Hits Different
1 month later
San Jac Saloon
Wedding rehearsal.
“Jared stop spinning me around so much we just ate,” I said.
“I really like dancing with you darlin 'so I can't help it,” Jared replied with a smile.
I could get lost in those multi-spectrum hazel eyes of his forever.
A shout saying he’s mine from across the bar interrupts our moment.
I'd recognize that voice anywhere Kimber Sachs or as she is better known as Honey Sachet. She's a rapper and Jared’s ex. Jared dated her in high school before they both became famous. She's been trying to get back with her ever since. Her career has fallen down the wayside and she’d try to drum up media attention.
I catch a glimpse of her before Clif drags her away. She looks worse than ever Kimber has a terrible spray tan. Her graying hair was cut in a bob. Her tan dress is skin-tight and very short. As usual, Kimber’s breasts are spilling out of her dress. She's trying to make herself look taller with 9-inch heels she can barely stand in. So it doesn't do much for her 4’8” stature.
Jared told me about her, and she was nothing like back when he knew her. She was sweet, and kind and never wanted to see anyone get hurt. They broke up when Jared went to start his acting career and she had to start her road to take over as CEO of her Family’s restaurant chain. Obviously, she never did and we don't know why. Just one day she popped up on the media charts. She was famous for a while but then she started slandering people and getting into fights. Kimber also sleeps with anything that breathes as long as they benefit her.
Jared looks a little jarred from seeing her. I wrap my arms to comfort him.
“I haven't seen her since I was a teenager. She's far from the sweet, kind black hair and blue-eyed woman I knew. It's sad what happened to her.” Jared said in a hushed tone.
“I can't imagine it being easy for you to see that. Sorry, you had to see that up close.” I replied.
He holds onto me tighter like he's afraid another woman he loves is going to leave him.
Shortly after starting Supernatural, he met Sandra McCoy. They were engaged for a short time a year before he met Gen.
He and Gen divorced a couple of years ago. Jared has to realize that everything happens for a reason. We were meant to find each other.
I firmly believe that.

Possessed Females of Spooky Island
Much like the males, we see plenty of people on the island and we know they all get possessed but only a handful of women are seen up close being possessed. Supernatural Magazine Interview with Crossroads Demon Sandra McCoy
I'm sure you're probably aware that Sandra McCoy played the Crossroads Demon from the season 3 episode "Bedtime Stories", and that she was Jared Padalecki's ex before he met and married Genevieve. I thought it'd be interesting to share tidbits of her interview with Supernatural Magazine from Issue 6 (Oct/Nov 2008), pages 31 to 36. Yes, this interview was after they broke up earlier that year. [x]
"So tell us, how did you get the part of the Crossroads Demon on Supernatural?"
"I had auditioned for the role, prior to that and I’d gotten pretty close but, from my understanding because of the nature of my and Jared's relationship, they wanted to wait for the perfect role, something the fans would like to see.
"What were the other roles you auditioned for?"
"I actually auditioned for the role of Jessica in the pilot. That was a long time ago, I'd gotten a callback for that, but I think they wanted to go with a taller person! And obviously Adrianne Palicki was perfect for It; she did a great job, I also auditioned for the role of Sarah [In Provenance]. who everyone loved, but I didn't get that. I don't think anyone wants to see Jared and I Kiss! And after that I went for the role of Carmen [in What is And What Should Never Be] who was supposed to kiss Jensen. I don't think anybody wanted to see Jensen and I kiss, either! Finally the producers booked me for the role I think I was the least like, and the least prepared for. I mean, I’ve never played anything like that. I think I'm better at the damsels In distress or the good girls; that's what I know!
"It was such a shock when Sam shot you at the end! That must have been weird to film"
"It wasn't so bad to shoot, only because we were nowhere near each other. I was looking right at camera and he was looking right at camera, and neither of us were standing right behind the camera for safety reasons. So he was pointing a gun at me, which was strange, but for the actual shooting we were probably 30 feet away from each other."
"So it wasn't as if he was actually shooting you, then."
"No, no, we weren't looking each other in the eye when he pulled the trigger. I don’t know what that could have done to him mentally! Jared did a great job with the scene, it was one of my favorite ones of his. So, yeah, we were nowhere near each other at the time. [Laughs]"
"What was it like acting with him? You know him as Jared but he's playing Sam. Are they like each other in real life?"
"You know, he's not too much like Sam, I don't think. I've watched every single episode of the show, so I know the Sam character and I know Jared very well. So It wasn't weird; It was actually easier for me to remember that when I looked at him because I acknowledge their differences, working with him was the most terrifying experience of my life because I've been on that set plenty of times, so I know the crew really well. I didn't want to let [Jared] down!"
"We heard you wore a T-Shirt at a Supernatural convention that read '"'Mrs. Jensen Ackles'."
"The Jensen one was at Austin or somewhere, Jared and I tease each other a lot and obviously Jensen is some of my ammo. He's not an un-good-looking guy! [Laughs] I like to support the conventions, to go the vendors and buy things. I got a trucker hat last time."
"So what did you think when you first saw him?"
"Oh my goodness, you don't want to know. We had a very interesting meeting. We weren't too fond of each other and It was all so rushed. Jared arrived a week late to the set, as he was finishing a movie. By that time all the cast and crew had started to mesh and get along. He arrived and I figured I’d go up and introduce myself. He was a little tired and in a bad mood and I was super-bubbly and excited; It was the first acting job I'd ever got, because at the time I was only dancing. So I was thrilled. He was straight onto another film without getting a break to see his family and whatnot, so we were just on very different levels, I think. So I found him rude and he found me annoying! [Laughs]"
"Is it correct you're a member of MENSA?"
"Yes. My mother was a MENSA member and it was a thing I wanted to do when I grew up. too. I had no idea what to expect when I sat the test… I do a lot of logic puzzles and just love anything like that, brainteasers and whatnot, so I figured I should try it. Luckily I got In!"
