I don’t know if I dreamt this up or not but I think you said somewhere that Safi is loosely like the Fool tarot card and Iseult is like the Hermit tarot card? Idk why but I’ve been thinking about this all the time for my most recent reread of the books in preparation for Witchshadow. If I didn’t imagine this info, did you take inspiration from the cards when creating Safi and Iseult or did you fine the aligned to these two cards after you created them / did you choose to make characters off of those two cards? It sounds so fascinating to me and was curious!

I don't think she's the fool...? Nor is Iseult the Hermit. I was loosely inspired by the High Priestess + Hierophant cards to make the Witch and the Solitaire -- those are supposed to be Safi + Iseult, respectively. As well as the Sun and the Moon cards.

I definitely used some of real tarot to inspire the deck in the Witchlands, but then...I deviated a ton and made up my own things since I wanted it to be a reflection of the world. Hence hounds, foxes, hawks, and bats as the suits. 😉

There's no point in hiding it. I'm a crazy cat lady. I love cats, and so it's not surprise that as soon as I learned of the Spirit Cats Oracle, it was on my wish list. (Among about a zillion other cat decks, but I've got to pace myself...) My Interpretation: 1. Building or creating as a team; careers such as carpentry, theatre/prop creating, community organizer, architect, perhaps even a position in a spiritual circle or religious facility. Something that gets you involved with people and making things. 2. This card is one of completion and of Large Scales, so to me this indicates A) that you should not think yourself done or "completed" because you have learnt something or done something. We have a better time if we remain students of life as long as we are alive. This is not to say to not trust your knowledge and skill, but to not get complacent about it and think you "know it all". My Interpretation: Law definitely will have strong effects on you in some way if you go down that route. The cards suggest that it will challenge you to not fall into a pit of jaded-ness or competition that swallows you. That very mindful awareness of the joys and successes gained will be important to combat those things. I personally do not know much about working in the business of Law but I can imagine that things (like most things in life) do not always go our way, and that it might be especially hard in places where real injustice might occur. As a prosecutor you might see true villains released and that would shatter any person if they are not building themselves up to accept such outcomes. I would not recommend just pushing every pain and disappointment down, and neither would the cards. The Sun reversed does not mean an absence of joy, just that the light will be harder to see. Shadowed over, if you will. I think this small reading has a big impact, in that it wants to tell you this is important work, and it will be hard.
