Crash Course Into Reading Tarot
Ever wanted to use tarot to predict your future, overview your past, or gain advice from spirit? Tarot is an incredibly useful tool, but can be a bit daunting to those just beginning. If you're interesting in improving your life with the help of the cards, here's an easy to follow guide for beginners.
If you want a more in-depth post on reading tarot, check out my official blog at https://sproutedlavender.com/
You don't have to be a psychic to read tarot. it's a tool that anyone can learn. Of course it requires patience and diligence, but once you begin establishing the habit of learning it becomes easier and easier.
Get a Deck
Now, before you begin reading tarot, you obviously first need a tarot deck. It's important that you resonate with your deck and that you feel uplifting and positive when you hold it.
Buying a deck can be a fun experience. There are hundreds of different designs and colorful boxes, so get the one that makes you feel good. Oftentimes this is your intuition guiding you.
Once you have your deck, you should first and foremost clean it.
Cleanse your Tarot Deck.
Tarot decks have powerful energies, meaning if you don't keep them vibrant and clean, their energy will get stagnant and dull. This can sometimes get in the way of readings, causing vibrations to plummet.
Thankfully, cleaning your deck is simple. There are many ways to do so. You can use sunlight, crystals, music or visualization among other ways.
This will help to keep the energy of your deck working properly for your future readings.
Connect to your Intuition
Your intuition plays a very important part when it comes to reading tarot. Each card has multiple meanings which could all suggest different things depending on how you read them. This can get frustrating if you don't have a clear connection to you intuition.
While reading tarot, your intuition guides you and helps you to make sense of the cards, understanding the meanings and messages they wish to portray.
Before doing a reading, try meditating for a few minuets, or do a calming activity in order to become more in tune with your energy and intuition.
Shuffling
Tarot cards are helpful tools which should be treated with respect. This means try not to shuffle too hard or in a way which might damage the cards.
Try your best to go slow at first, getting a feel for your cards, both physically and energetically.
Choosing a card
Choosing a card can be a difficult task if you just beginning to read tarot. There's often a sense of anxiety or unsureness of which card to pick and you might hesitate because you don't want to pick the wrong one.
It's okay to feel this way, but try and remember that whatever card you choose is meant for you.
If you still find it too difficult to choose, try shuffling until a card pops out. This way you can take this card as a divine message from the universe.
As you gain more confidence in your abilities, you'll find it easier to pick your cards, allowing your intuition to lead the way.
Learning the meanings of the cards
There are a lot of cards, 78 to be exact. Tarot is divided into two section, the Major arcana, which deals with large, life changing events, and the Minor arcana, which deal with day to day situations and activities.
Because there are so many meanings to learn, I would suggest starting out by first learning the basic meanings of the Major arcana. These are the first 0-22 cards of the deck and often portray important meanings.
Check out my post on the Major Arcana cards.
Once you've got those down, then you can move onto the Minor arcana and tackle those meanings.
There are a lot of meanings in tarot and different people read the cards differently, so just take what resonates and follow what feels right.
It might be helpful to pull a card every day and look up its meaning. This way you'll begin learning and create a habit as well.
That's all for now, but if you wish to read more about how to read tarot, check out my more in-depth post here.
