John's lucky they hadn't invented buses yet.
___
JOKE-OGRAPHY:
In this Bible story, the Sadducees question Peter and John for their recent acts of healing. Peter tells them all their good deeds are done in the Name of Jesus. In this cartoon, he also hedges his testimony by blaming any perceived wrongdoings on John.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Don't tell the Sadducees, but this is another "Tomics Resurrection", where I've taken an old comic from the dead and brought it to life anew. I read the Sadducees were the sect of Jewish leadership more closely related to wealth and status, while the Pharisees were more focused on the religiousiness of religion. For this reason, I made the Sadducees in this new version dress in purple and gold, while the Pharisees might be redesigned to appear in more muted colors. We'll see! In the meantime, how do you think this compares to the original?

Jesus' Authority Challenged...
1 It happened on one of those days, as he was teaching the people in the temple and preaching the Good News, that the chief Kohanim and Sofrim came to him with the Zakenim. 2 They asked him, "Tell us: by what authority do you do these things? Or who is giving you this authority?" 3 He answered them, "I also will ask you one question. Tell me: 4 the immersion of Yochanan, was it from heaven, or from men?" 5 They reasoned with themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will say, 'Why didn't you believe him?' 6 But if we say, 'From men,' all the people will stone us, for they are persuaded that Yochanan was a prophet." 7 They answered that they didn't know where it was from. 8 Yeshua said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things." 9 He began to tell the people this parable. "A man planted a vineyard, and rented it out to some farmers, and went into another country for a long time. 10 At the proper season, he sent a servant to the farmers to collect his share of the fruit of the vineyard. But the farmers beat him, and sent him away empty. 11 He sent yet another servant, and they also beat him, and treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty. 12 He sent yet a third, and they also wounded him, and threw him out. 13 The lord of the vineyard said, 'What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. It may be that seeing him, they will respect him.' 14 "But when the farmers saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, 'This is the heir. Come, let's kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.' 15 They threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do to them? 16 He will come and destroy these farmers, and will give the vineyard to others." When they heard it, they said, "May it never be!" 17 But he looked at them, and said, "Then what is this that is written, 'The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the chief cornerstone?' 18 "Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, But it will crush whoever it falls on to dust." 19 The chief Kohanim and the Sofrim sought to lay hands on Him that very hour, but they feared the people -- for they knew He had spoken this parable against them. 20 They watched him, and sent out spies, who pretended to be righteous, that they might trap him in something he said, so as to deliver him up to the rule and to the authority of the governor. 21 They asked him, "Teacher, we know that you say and teach what is right, and aren't partial to anyone, but truly teach the way of God. 22 Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?" 23 But he perceived their slyness, and said to them, "Why do you test me? 24 Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it?" They answered, "Caesar's." 25 He said to them, "Then give to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." 26 They weren't able to trap him in his words before the people. They marveled at his answer, and were silent. 27 Some of the Tzedukim came to him, those who deny that there is a resurrection. 28 They asked him, "Teacher, Moshe wrote to us that if a man's brother dies having a wife, and he is childless, his brother should take the wife, and raise up children for his brother. 29 There were therefore seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died childless. 30 The second took her as wife, and he died childless. 31 The third took her, and likewise the seven all left no children, and died. 32 Afterward the woman also died. 33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them will she be? For the seven had her as a wife." 34 Yeshua said to them, "The sons of this age marry, and are given in marriage. 35 But those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage. 36 For neither can they die any more, for they are like the angels, and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. 37 But that the dead are raised, even Moshe showed at the bush, when he called the Lord 'The God of Avraham, the God of Yitzchak, and the God of Ya`akov.' 38 Now he is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for all are alive to him." 39 Some of the Sofrim answered, "Teacher, you speak well." 40 They didn't dare to ask him any more questions. 41 He said to them, "Why do they say that the Messiah is David's son? 42 David himself says in the book of Tehillim, 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, 43 Until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet."' 44 "David therefore calls him Lord, so how is he his son?" 45 In the hearing of all the people, he said to his talmidim, 46 "Beware of the Sofrim, who desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts; 47 who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these will receive greater condemnation." — Luke 20 | Hebrew Names Version (HNV) The Hebrew Names Version Bible is in the public domain. Who Is Our Neighbor
Caden Hammer This past weekend, a group of us college students traveled to Sneedville, Tennessee, to do service work. Lauren Ritter and her home congregation have a long-standing relationship with the community of Sneedville and have done a lot of outreach over the years. At the young adult’s retreat, Lauren suggested a group of us could go do a project there. Sneedville is a poor community in…

If You Ask a Question, Be Ready for the Answer (Mark 12:18-27)
Understand that many things we get hung up on, Jesus doesn’t – and what Jesus sticks on, we may act like Teflon and let it slide.
The Pharisees and Sadducees Come to Tempt Jesus, by James Tissot (1836-1902) Some Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him and asked him a question, saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies, leaving a wife but no child, the man shall marry the widow and raise up children for his brother. There were seven brothers; the first married and, when he died, left…

How Big is Easter?
We’ve made it to Wednesday of Holy Week. Just three months ago, we were celebrating Jesus’ birth. During the Christmas holidays we think of Him as “the little Lord Jesus,” who “laid down his sweet head” in a manger. It’s hard to understand why people would come to hate Him, conspire against Him, and ultimately kill Him. But it’s not just the baby Jesus. It’s also the man Jesus who, according to…

DOCTRINES OF THE SADDUCEES -- KJV (King James Version) Bible Verse List Visit https://www.billkochman.com/VerseLists/ to see more. "But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question. And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided. For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both." Acts 23:6-8, KJV "The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him, Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother: Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh. And last of all the woman died also. Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her. Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine." Matthew 22:23-33, KJV "Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed. And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise. And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also. In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife. And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God? For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err." Mark 12:18-27, KJV "Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him, Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children. And the second took her to wife, and he died childless. And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died. Last of all the woman died also. Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife. And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him." Resurrection part 1: What Yeshua taught
Today we are starting a new, four-part series on the topic of resurrection. When believers today consider the topic of resurrection, they will typically be focusing on the resurrection of Messiah, and they would be right to do so. The resurrection of Messiah has immense significance, and because of this, we will be concluding this series with a whole episode on its ramifications. However, if…

How To Recognize A Religious Person
Preached at mid-week service at Riverview
Photo by Chloe Amaya: https://www.pexels.com/photo/person-face-in-close-up-photo-4079215/ John 11:45-57 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him. 46 But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done. 47 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man…

No, I'm not a white supremcist!! 'I am no respecter of persons'. This is why I believe in the world of religions. There is something inherently wrong with the education system. If I am not mistaken the early 'wayshowers', were bound together due to genealogy. Jesus wasn't white, and he spoke in Aramaic. The Holy Bible has been translated, what is it 192 times. Eventually 'man' will get that right too. Please forgive me almighty Creator, you also say 'not to judge, unless I want to be judged' (I may be taking that quote out of context.). All I really know, is that I am a sinner. The deeper I know Jesus, the more messed up my life becomes. As Well, the more I know, the less I really know.). But I still long to have wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Who in the 'world' would have thunk it!!
Thank you creator, for the front row seat to the show!!

Unleavened Religion
Friday’s Column: Brent’s Bent The misunderstanding of the disciples recorded in Matthew 16.5–12 and Mark 8.13-21 has always amused me. Jesus warned them about the leavening of the Pharisees and Sadducees as they sailed away from Magadan, where He had just encountered some annoying members of those religious sects. According to Matthew and Mark, the disciples assumed Jesus was disappointed that…
