HI CAN I JUST SAY I LOVE YOUR OC RYKKA AND ALL THE THOUGHTS YOUVE PUT OUT FOR HIM!?!?!? HE SOUNDS AMAZING!! Has he ever had to deliver to a house that had a particularly large flower garden front?? A few of the houses in my neighborhood, have gigantic flower gardens in the front that take up at least 50% of their front yard oml lol. So sometimes I just think about characters having to deal with the giant flower gardens to
Also do his sneeze styles(?) change depending on the type of irritant??
✨thanks for posting so much about your oc, he is lovely
omg i'm so glad you like him-
tbh, a flower garden would only affect him depending on what flowers are there- lavender specifically is the one he's most allergic to, but there might be one or two others that might set him off. if there was a house with that big of a garden, he'd probably try to keep his wings as still as possible so as to not stir up any pollen, and would try to make the delivery as quick as possible,,,
as for differences in his sneezes.... hm. I think they're probably all mostly the same... except for the "feather allergy" he gets when moulting. his sneezes probably sound more tiny and like, ticklish then. he doesn't get sick often, but i think when he does, his sneezes would get slightly more vocal... or something like that

Month of LGBTQIA+ Eurovision contestants: Rykka (27/30)
When I came to see what I was doing, I had built fake walls around myself... It took courage and a lot of self-love to allow myself to be more authentic, and more and more everyday I’m striving to live truthfully.

A Journey Through Love and Wilderness with "Twin Flame" by Goldschatz Goldschatz's “Twin Flame”, ain't your average Americana EP. No sirree! Got a dash of something extra - love and wanderlust, all shaken up with some foot-tappin' good tunes. Ever patch together one of them yearning-and-love quilts, with bits of folk rock and Americana sewn in? Just like that – warm to the touch, full of homely charm. All that's needed is a pair of globe-trotters, enter Rykka and Timothy Jaromir. https://open.spotify.com/album/7MnslkVms6IbsEfW3qoCPN?si=zzZHEhVPTvmq9ZrojgjCUQ Spun together during the gentle patter of rain in Vancouver Island, we got the Swiss string-master Timothy teaming up with the ever-soulful Canadian, Rykka. Two lovebirds making music while life zooms by on the highway. Real heart-tuggers born out of American soil taking a flight with a twist of unique seasoning, courtesy of our dynamic duo. Tune into the EP and you'll feel like you stepped right into the heart of a Southern flick – a sprawling wilderness, equal parts enchanting and rough, mirroring the realness of emotions. Packed with male-female doo-wop vocal treat, it’s like yin and yang, singing out tales that'll make you hum along. Hear that harmony? Ain't just some musical finesse, no, that's Rykka and Tim's sync, both in music and life. [caption id="attachment_51813" align="alignnone" width="768"] A Journey Through Love and Wilderness with "Twin Flame" by Goldschatz[/caption] The sands a-shifting on each track of “Twin Flame". Kind of like a road trip diary – each stop, a tune; three of them original, two tipped hats to the classics. Goldschatz is far from being a one-trick pony. The EP's like the bending river, free-spirited and natural. Wilderness reflected in their melodies, raw and unrestrained as it ought to be. Bit of home-brewed intensity spiced up with traces of folk rock – can't put the EP in one box. Just like Goldschatz's memories, the tunes ain't meant to wear genre handcuffs. The music lives, breathes, runs wild and beautiful, making prettier pictures than any image can capture. Ever ran into a melody that mirrors the magic of a place? The hill-air of Switzerland and the forest whispers of Western Canada echo across their tunes. All that tinkling of guitar strings and the humming tunes pays tribute to the wilderness, all while making "Twin Flame" a little more dear to anyone with a heart for travel. So here's the long and short of it – “Twin Flame” ain't just another record on the shelf. Goldschatz got a story to tell on it and they ain't holding back. The talents bursting out of both Rykka and Tim light up the EP – a solid nod towards their bright future. Love story? Check. Ode to freedom and tunes? Double check. Listen close, can you hear it? That's the sweet sound of love ignited, travelling from the majestic pines to the sweeping plains. Follow Goldschatz on Website, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.

2016 - semifinal 2
originally posted 5/20/20
Latvia Aminata wrote a freaking great song, and Justs kills it. He has so much energy and so much control over his voice, he's just going all out up there. I'm not crazy about the staging until the second chorus but then it all starts coming together. This is a really great number, a step down from Love Injected for sure but nevertheless I'm certain this will end up in my top 10. Poland I have never been able to get behind this. I don't like the song and I don't like Michal's voice. I do think, however, that this was some of the best staging of the 2016 contest. Poland used the stage REALLY well here, allowing for something that was visually interesting and fulfilling while still keeping the main focus on the singer. So, I might hate the song, but kudos to their stage team. Switzerland For the most part, this song and performance are pretty much okay. Song? Okay. Staging? Okay, even including the smoke bra. But Rykka is so awkward onstage, in her interactions with the camera, the legendary squats, and just her vocals, that it simply doesn't work. Israel This is quite pretty. I don't hate it, it's full of a lot of things that I should really like. For some reason, though, I'm struggling to get into it. It doesn't really do anything for me. It's nice, but it doesn't go above and beyond to impress, really. This is another of those situations like Slovenia 2017, where I dislike the artist as a person and I'm struggling to detangle my opinions from an otherwise not-bad song. Belarus I still remember watching this semifinal live, briefly thinking Ivan had actually gone onstage naked, and fucking losing it along with the rest of tumblr. This staging, while clearly inspired by Heroes, was nevertheless pretty creative, and I really enjoy the song as well. Ivan does kind of kill the vibe though, he's not a bad performer but he doesn't bring the song to life in the way that, say, Justs or Michal did with their performances. Also, he's flat. Serbia Sanja is such a strong vocalist and is really performing well. It's a very good song and the other people onstage are used effectively. The background imagery and her dress aren't so great, though, I feel like the background imagery could have been a bit more subtle instead of... images of blades, and idk the dress was just ugly. Ireland It's a good song but that's about all it has going for it. The staging was bad. It didn't seem to have anything to do with the actual song and sometimes it just looked ugly (namely, the red aesthetic at the beginning). And Nicky, while he's clearly happy to be there, seems to be struggling vocally. North Macedonia Kaliopi is performing very well. And this is a nice song. But the two are just not suited for each other. I wasn't a fan of the screech at the end. I think she was trying to do a more emotional version of Crno i Belo here and it just didn't work. Not my favorite.
Lithuania It amazes me how Donny Montell can do a whole backwards flip and then just launch straight into the last chorus. Iconic. This was staged really well, Donny was able to show off in just the right ways. The song isn't a standout but it's not bad and it's a good fit for Donny and for the staging. Australia Absolutely legendary. Dami has hella pipes, and the staging is actually really beautiful. I used to question why she sat on a box for 2/3 of the song but I actually don't mind it so much now. I read somewhere that she can be kinda awkward onstage so maybe that was a smart choice. Australia went so fucking hard with this one, pulled no punches, because it's a great song too. Slovenia This song doesn't deserve the hate it gets. While, yes, Manuella is trying very hard to be Slovenian Taylor Swift here, and while yes, the pole dancer is a little weird, I do like the song and I think Manuella is a good singer and a good performer.
Bulgaria Poli freaking Genova, everybody. This is a really good song with quirky but innovative staging, and while I don't like Poli's voice so much it suits the vibe of the song and she's definitely a performer. Denmark A lot of people's complaints with this song have to do with how generic it is. And they're not wrong - this is one of the blandest songs in the contest. The vocals are also pretty bad. And yet, I can't find it in myself to really hate this. The dudes are just having fun up there, and it's actually staged okay. Ukraine 1944 gives me chills. I wrote a paper on the sociocultural effects of Eurovision for a class this semester, and one of the things I talked about was how important this song was, because it paved the way for both Salvador Sobral (and the other jazz singers in the 2017 and 2018 contests) and for Joci Papai and Keiino (through its use of ethnic minority identity and music). Incredibly cool song. Jamala has such a great voice and it conveys so much emotion, and the staging here is STUNNING, especially at the bridge when all the light collects at her feet and then turns into a tree.
Norway Agnete is a good singer and this had pretty good staging as well. The song, though... the tempo shift between the verses and the choruses is so jarring that I can't concentrate on anything else. It sounds like two different songs. Two pretty good songs nonetheless, but still, it's just not cohesive. Georgia The staging is so psychedelic that I can't do anything other than hate this. It's a good song, especially in the second half when it picks up, but the staging flat out gives me a headache. Albania It's not the revamp that I hate here. I actually love the bassline in the new version. Eneda is just so stagnant on the stage, the staging isn't interesting to watch, and if I'm honest the lyrics are so clumsy that it's hard for me to get totally behind this. Belgium This is it. This is the song that kept me in the Eurovision fandom. I love this so much! It's so fresh and funky, and Laura is a great performer who keeps her voice stable. She and her team are having so much fun up there. The staging was awesome, eye-catching, and fun. One of my all-time favorite entries.
My personal qualifiers Australia Belgium Ukraine Latvia Bulgaria Lithuania Israel Norway Serbia Poland Miscellaneous thoughts The mockumentary about Sweden in Eurovision... my goodness, that's really funny. I'm really glad the stream I'm using kept that in. I think I'm probably going to try and get the final done tonight as well - it's still early and there's other stuff I want to do tomorrow during the day, so I'm going to watch at least the performances in the next few hours (although the actual post might come tomorrow proper). Lol I say this as though there's anyone actually reading

2010s Eurovision: 389-386
389. Loukas Giorkas ft. Stereo Mike - “Watch my dance” Greece 2011
youtube
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄  They should’ve just billed this song as “Stereo Mike ft. Loukas” because MORE THAN TWO THIRDS OF THIS SONG CONSISTS OF STEREO MIKE TERRORIZING US WITH ATROCIOUS RAPPING. Like seriously, I shit on white-guy rapping a lot but this is the fucking reason it shouldn’t happen again, EVER. The other 27 or whatever percent of the song consists of Loukas repeating the same three sentences about 5 times throughout the song.
And by all good 2011 traditions, it finished in 7th place, somehow. 🙃 Why was this year beloved again?
388. Maria Olafs - “Unbroken” Iceland 2015
youtube
Oh look an OGAE fan flop! I could end the write-up there, you know, but this song is WAY worse than it’s being given credit for. Allow me to ruin it forever by pointing out that “Unbroken” has NO VERSES!! That’s right, this song is 100% chorus, pre-chorus and post-chorus. NO VERSES!!! Also, “Unbroken” is not a word, missy! Whatever, the unsong with the broken untitle is repetitive and stupid, so of course it ensnared the unhearts of all the OGAE unintellectuals. 🙄
Ununfortunately Maria underscored her song’s doubleplus ungoodness by deilvering an performance so offkey Europe was like “ugh retire bitch 🙄” and proactively unqualified Iceland from the next three Finals. Her unpower.  👣
387. Rykka - “The last of our kind” Switzerland 2016
youtube
Fun fact: whenever I (re)watch a year of Eurovision, I always rewatch The Last of Our Kind first. It really is a testemony to Rykka’s shitness that she always makes *anything* look and sound good by comparison. 🤗
Having said that, this is ONLY possible because “The Last of Our Kind” is so incompetent it becomes frustrating and painful to watch. Rykka should have been the first entrant to score negative points in a tally to really cement her as ~The Last Of Her Loserkind~ and then it might’ve endeared her enough for me to grant her a fusedmarcesque Cult Status, but alas. 🙄
386. Josh Dubovie - “That sounds good to me” United Kingdom 2010
youtube
Ahhhh that time when the UK finished last for being shit and as punishement for  the Brexit. Good times. 😎 And with that, every year has now lost an entrant! Yay! I’m surprised I even have Josh that high, lol? I mean, he *AND* his song are obviously terrible and embarassing, but he doesn’t exactly linger on my mind as “ZOMG GODAWFUL” even though he is? Perhaps it’s because I just sat through Rykka again? Even when I rank him this low it is not as ‘A TERRIBLE ENTRY I HAVE A BURNING HATRED FOR’... mostly because my feelings amount to immensely deep pity and extreme physical discomfort as opposed to hate? Progress, I suppose.

thinking about my oc Rykka tonight,,,
there was probably one time where he delivered a package to a friend, who let them come into their house to get a little break from flying around and all that.
and the package was chocolates, which the friend let Rykka try one, but there was also a bonus little item, which was a mini free perfume sample.
so the friend offers to let Rykka test the perfume as well.
...but the perfume is lavender-scented, and he's allergic to lavender, so needless to say it didn't end well for him sdjlfksjlfkjs
