I am currently 100% convinced that if Cressida figures out that Penelope is Lady Whistledown, it’ll be because of Eloise’s Bridgerton’s impulsiveness & big mouth. Even though it wouldn’t entirely shock me if Eloise was only pretending to befriend Cressida specifically to upset Penelope.
I love Eloise but she is not only blind to how her actions affect others, she doesn’t bother to put herself in their shoes, despite both Daphne and Penelope outright saying this to her. She can’t seem to be bothered to consider the feelings of others or the repercussions of her actions, she does whatever she wants. It’s a big lesson I expect her to learn eventually, if only to understand why her closest friend Penelope was reluctant about sharing her secrets with her.
Eloise is a Bridgerton, she has no understanding of the money or power struggles of others because she has a wealthy, well-connected, loving and supportive if not extremely lenient family while other young ladies do not. It makes her a bit reckless and careless so being close to a viper like Cressida is a recipe for disaster.

Book Colin Bridgerton friendzones Penelope for a decade but after kissing her once, he’s so gone for her that literally the next time they’re alone he’s making up for lost time and has her topless, laid out on the back seat of a carriage with one of her breasts in his mouth and he’s climbed on top of her talking about wanting to sink into her and never letter her go…
Tumblr media
Shondaland, I love you but season 3 cannot get near fast enough.
We need to see the carriage scene you’re giving us.
I know, know: we’re not ready.
We may never be ready and yet, I assure you, WE ARE READY.

Francesca seems to have been upset or made uncomfortable by Lord Fife & the men he’s speaking to, and that’s why she was looking for a private moment away from them.
Tumblr media
Knowing Fife, they were probably disparaging women or talking about them like they were merely decorative property. It’s possible they were even talking about Penelope Featherington and how Colin mocked her. We know his comments must come back to haunt him so this would be the perfect opportunity for his sister to hear about what he said and comment on how saying that was hurting her prospects this season.
You can notice Lord Debling is near Francesca when she sits under the tree here:

There room appears to have both summer and fall decor with Kate under an Autumn apple tree forest side and Penelope on the summer garden side.

Note the Greek key pattern on the dance floor and remember that A Midsummer Night’s Dream is based in an Athenian court and forest.
Tumblr media
Penelope is wearing the same dress from the, “Goodnight Mr. Bridgerton,” clip we saw which took place in front of Danbury house. So this is likely taking place at Lady Danbury’s ball, the first ball of the season and its theme may be Shakespeare’s A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream.

I’d kinda love for Colin to start referring to Penelope as his wife the minute they become betrothed, like it’s a done deal in his heart and mind.
Because he’s known her forever. Penelope’s not simply his intended, or his fiancé, or his betrothed, no no… those are not permanent titles and he views this as forever. He belongs to her and she is his.
Penelope is the woman Colin loves, they’ve chosen each other and decided to be together forever, end of story.
The wedding vows and paperwork can come later, but the second she agrees to be his, Colin sees Penelope as his wife.

Sorta hoping Debling & Penelope are watching in horror because Colin is being chased away from spying on them by a protective flock of ducks or even a swan…

In season one after her engagement was announced to Simon, Prince Friedrich told Daphne that he wished her every happiness.
Tumblr media
In season two after her engagement was announced to Anthony (just before the Viscount falls into the water), Lord Lumley wishes Edwina every happiness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wonder if in season three, after her engagement is announced to Colin, Lord Debling says the same to Penelope.
I want Debling to be a true gentleman, a good man and serious competition for Colin this season.
And I honestly wouldn’t mind if it became a little tradition that in each season, the person who had intentions for the leading lady of the season, (but who did not ultimately win her) still cares enough to wish her happiness so they part as friends.

I want a callback to this season 1 scene where Colin tells Penelope he’s leaving London and she’s so upset about it that she nearly bursts into tears and has to leave the party.
Tumblr media
I’d love to see Penelope telling Colin that she is either going to leave London because she’s running away from a life as a spinster among the ton or to try her luck with finding a husband in the country. And I want to see immediate panic in Colin’s eyes.

I would like a callback to this season 1 episode 1 moment with Colin and Benedict. Let’s see Colin in season 3 thinking he’s going to approach Penelope and receive a hero’s welcome, greeted with open arms but Penelope has zero interest in him or time for him, but she’s perfectly happy to greet Benedict.

Colin Bridgerton is off screen hyperventilating from the shock of seeing Penelope looking so gorgeous, knowing that he let her slip through his fingers.

The way Violet and Lady Danbury’s mentioned how they would’ve liked to have gone for a walk but the weather was bad in the last episode of Queen Charlotte, made me wonder if that was foreshadowing lots of rainy days to come the next time we’re in the Bridgerverse.
It made me remember how Simone Ashley called season 3, “condensation central,” and I’m wondering if getting caught in the rain/dancing in the rain and generally being stuck inside together is going to be a big part of Polin’s season.

We’re all in agreement that seeing Penelope for the first time when he returns to London in season 3, is going to take Colin Bridgerton’s breath away, right?
Just checking.

Did anyone else see that quick moment where the little boy calls over the little girl to get a piece of cake in the beginning of the season 2 episode “An Unthinkable Fate,” and think it was a nod to Polin sharing cake as children?
Tumblr media
No? Just me.
I’m ok with that.

In chapter 3 of the book, Lady Danbury says “Isn’t it nice to discover that we’re not exactly what we thought we were.” I think that is a lesson both Colin and Penelope can take away from this season. Colin seems lost in his own insecurities. His family treats him like a young foolish boy, (granted he has been foolishly impulsive at times but it doesn’t help that Anthony belittles his passion for traveling and his inexperience with women, and Benedict was in the background of the horse race scene in season 2 clearly mocking Colin’s loss (I assume he didn’t bet on the winning horse either, just like Anthony).
Colin is looking for the approval of others to feel worthy of respect as a man. Similarly, Penelope has been dealing with feelings of inadequacy because she hasn’t been noticed by any eligible men & the only people who do notice her are her family who are critical and dismissive of her. Her sisters call her overweight, and boring and her mother forces her to wear dresses that make her feel ugly while mocking her lack of suitors openly.
Both our leads are insecure because they are more than what they think they are or what others think of them.
It’s why Penelope’s letters were so encouraging to Colin, because if she can see him as a brave world traveling man, worthy of respect, who will find his own purpose and make his mark on the world, then he can see himself that way to. I think that’s why we will find Penelope to be very changed by his mocking the idea of courting her. Because Colin has been the only man who seemed to appreciate her. He’s one of the only people in her whole life who has had anything positive to say about her. He’s called her clever, loyal, good and special. So hearing him imply that what he really thinks of her is that she’s none of those things was devastating enough. It’s only made worse by the fact that she’s loved him in secret for years.
His lessons will need to undo that damage but during this season, they’re going to see the sides of each other that nobody else sees and that’s going to be vital to their growth. It will make them into the best versions of themselves.
