You very much, very disliked Quinn Hughes. You always had and you could pinpoint the exact moment where it all began.
You had moved next door to the Hughes family when you were eleven. You’d cried the entire journey, sad to leave your old friends and old house. This misery stayed with you, even as you spotted three kids playing in the street, and even when you’d spotted your new home.
You’d hurriedly dried your eyes as your Mom had parked the car, desperately trying to hide your sadness. You’d plastered a smile across your face, but as soon as you’d stepped out of the car, you found yourself tumbling backwards onto the gravel, due to a plastic puck to the forehead, shot at you by none other than Quinn Hughes himself.
You’d carried a bump, a bruise and a pure dislike for the boy at that very moment.
His brothers on the other hand were great. Jack, who was only a year your junior, was one of your closest childhood friends, the two of you as thick as thieves when it came to neighbourhood shenanigans. And Luke as a child was obsessed with you. In his mind, you were his sister and he wanted to do everything by your side.
…but Quinn?
He never apologised for the rogue puck, nor had he made any attempt to be nice towards you or make conversation. In fact, every time you were in the same vicinity as him, he acted like your presence was the biggest inconvenience, ignoring you at every turn and fleeing whenever you showed up.
And so the silent feud persevered and the thorough dislike felt was an emotion well-shared.
You rid your head of all those thoughts as you climbed out of your car which you had parked just down the street from the Hughes’ lake house. It was Halloween at the Hughes’, despite it being the middle of July.
Halloween was always a big holiday in the Hughes’ household, so when the brothers couldn’t celebrate it together in October due to their demanding careers, Jack had come up with the clever idea to hold a costume party once a year in the midst of summer to give everyone a chance to let loose and have a bit of fun.
So here you were, in the middle of July, dressed in denim daisy dukes, a brown tank top and brown, leather cowboy boots. You’d thrown together your costume in a matter of minutes, hell-bent on borrowing the brown cowboy hat you regularly saw hanging on the coatrack in the Hughes home.
Your boots clattered against the pavement as you approached the lake house, the sound of music and people talking, singing and dancing seeped out into the night air of Michigan. You pushed open the door, being instantly greeted by a wave of heat and a faint smell of alcohol wafting through the air.
“y/n!”
You whipped your head towards the crowded living room where Luke had clambered over the couch, to reach you. You stumbled backwards as he threw his arms around you, your chuckles radiating as he rocked you side to side in joy.
“I thought you weren’t going to come,” he whined as he pulled away, finally letting you look at the costume he adorned.
“And pass up free drinks?…never,” you hummed, fixing his black robe. “Also, I’m loving the costume, Anakin.” Luke grinned and scratched his head as he glanced down at his costume bashfully.
“I love your…oh my god,” Luke trailed off as he read your tank top, his eyes widening and cheeks blazing as he slapped a hand over his mouth.
You beamed from ear to ear as you glanced down at your shirt which conveniently read “Save a horse, ride a cowboy.”
“I’m a cowgirl, Luke,” You laughed, “actually, where’s that cowboy hat I always see when I’m around here? And can I borrow it please?”
Luke’s look of shock and amusement remained laced across his features as he glanced around the party.
“What?” You asked in confusion, following his eyeline only to freeze where you stood. “No…god, no, Luke!”
“I think the hat’s already in use,” Luke spoke, lowering his lips to your ear so you could hear him as he shuffled to your side. “Bye!”
Luke laughed heartedly, patting you on the shoulder before he returned to his friends in the living room, leaving your eyes locked on the sight ahead of you as a scowl crept onto your face.
Standing right ahead of you, sipping a drink as he talked to friends was Quinn Hughes…dressed from head to toe as a cowboy.
Fuck. Your. Life.
This was great, this was just fantastic. You wanted to rip your hair out in frustration, especially when you saw how good he looked in it.
One thing you refused to ever mention, was that despite your deep-rooted dislike for him, the eldest Hughes brother had been one of your first crushes because let’s be honest, objectively, Quinn Hughes was a good-looking man. You’d have to be a fool not to notice it. Your childhood crush on him had faded, yet every once and a while, it poked its ugly head out and caused you to go into full lockdown mode.
And now, seeing him in denim jeans, a grey shirt that stretched around his thick biceps and the cowboy hat you’d intended to steal, the ugly head of your childhood crush flared up, screaming at you to act on your desires.
With a huff, you folded your arms over your chest and headed towards the kitchen to grab a drink to wash Quinn out of your mind.
Hours later and a few drinks in, you found yourself sitting on the couch, with your legs strewn across the cushions, a plastic cup in hand, and a mind buzzing with alcohol-induced courage. The party had escalated into chaos as the night wore on, with laughter, music, and questionable dance moves scattered around the home.
Despite your initial annoyance at Quinn's unexpected presence, you had managed to avoid any direct interaction with him throughout the evening, skilfully avoiding him. However, as the night continued, you couldn't help but find yourself stealing glances across the room at the eldest Hughes brother. He seemed relaxed, chatting effortlessly with his friends, his cowboy attire adding a rugged charm to his usual demeanour.
Lord, you needed to get a grip.
But each time your gaze lingered on him, a vicious and conflicting mix of irritation and attraction stirred within you.
On your latest trip to the kitchen, you had glanced backwards and the party’s noise dulled as Quinn's eyes met yours. Even from across the room, you could see his nostrils flare and his eyes flash with an emotion you couldn’t place. For a brief moment, the world completely stilled as the intensity of his gaze pierced through the crowd. You quickly averted your eyes, heart pounding in your chest, but the memory of his piercing stare lingered, igniting a flame within you.
You’d abandoned your mission of heading the the kitchen and had swiftly taken back up your residence on the house’s couch, lounging back into the cushions, feeling rather flustered from the minimal interaction.
"Hey, y/n!" Jack's voice boomed over the music, snapping you out of your thoughts. He plopped down on the couch beside you, a wide grin plastered on his face. "Having fun?"
"Yeah, it's been a blast," You nodded, offering him a lopsided smile as your head lolled toward him. He had chosen to be a football player for the evening, adorning a jersey and eye black smeared on his cheekbones.
Jack chuckled, nudging your shoulder playfully. "Glad you could make it,” he spoke up, raising his voice to be heard. “You know, Quinn's been asking about you."
"Really? Why?" You asked defensively, as your eyebrows shot up in surprise, a mixture of scepticism and intrigue swirling in your head.
"Who knows?” Jack shrugged, taking a sip of his drink. “Maybe he wants to bury the hatchet or something."
"I highly doubt that."
But deep down, a small glimmer of hope flickered within you. Could it be possible Jack was telling the truth? The thought sent a strum of anticipation coursing through your veins and straight to your beating heart.
Before you could dwell further on the matter, Jack grabbed your hand, excitement evident in his eyes. "Come on, let's get a drink!" He urged, pulling you onto your feet as you allowed Jack to yank you towards the kitchen and straight past his older brother, whose eyes seemed to be locked on your figure.
You didn’t know how long it had been since the kitchen, but right now you were holed up in one of the bathrooms upstairs, staring at yourself in the mirror. You were at that wonderful stage of tipsy where the world was good and bright.
A sudden and loud bang on the door rattled its structure as you groaned and banged back.
“Occupied,” you practically sang, your eyes flitting from the mirror to the door.
“You can’t be up here, it’s off limits,” the deep voice called back sending butterflies cascading through your stomach. With a giggle, you opened the door and shook your head.
“Move on, Hughes,” You tutted, “you should never hurry a woman in a bathroom.”
Quinn’s eyes widened a fraction from where he was leaning against the door frame, expecting there to be someone hooking up or throwing up inside of the bathroom.
“This is still out of bounds,” he eventually sighed, his arms folding across his chest.
“Even for me,” you fluttered your eyelashes jokingly, biting your lip as you stared at Quinn’s unmoving figure.
“Especially for you.”
It was as if those words sent all of your insecurities tumbling down, each one of them being thrown in your face as your upbeat persona completely dropped. You suddenly felt rather sober, all of the adrenaline and fun seeping from your body.
“Fine,” you hissed, bumping his shoulder as you passed. You were going to head down to the party but you felt your body turn back to face him before you could. “Actually, no!”
“You have a real stick up your ass you know that, right? I tried to be civil with you but all I get back is whatever this…” you gestured to his disgruntled state. “–is. I’m done trying. It’s obvious you don’t like me, so quit staring and quit asking about me. We don’t have to be friends or even be civil anymore, we can just stop.”
You turned around towards the stairs with gritted teeth, before you spun around on your heel once more.
“Oh and for the record, you stole my intended hat,” you pettily huffed, slowly reaching up and taking the hat from Quinn’s head before pulling it onto your own. “I’m taking it back for the rest of the night.”
A sigh fell from Quinn’s lips as you fixed the hat on your head with a smirk, nodding to nothing as you looked up at the man once more.
“Now, I’m done,” you eventually hummed in satisfaction, walking back towards the stairs.
Before you could get any further, you felt Quinn's arm snake around your waist, pulling you back towards him, his chest meeting your spine. Opening your mouth the argue once more, you found yourself faltering, feeling his nose brush along the supple skin of your neck, the scruff of his beard leaving a wonderful tingling in its wake.
"Haven't heard you heard, pretty girl?" His voice rasped, his lips skimming the shell of your ear as your heart quickened. "You wear the hat, you ride the cowboy."
Your breath caught in your throat at his closeness, his cologne engulfing you as your heart fluttered in your chest.
“Quinn…” you struggled to say, your body pliant as he slowly turned you so you were chest to chest with him.
“Had to watch you all night walking around in those little shorts without a care in the world that everyone was watching you,” He continued, his hand reaching up to brush hair out of your face. “But you were watching me, hm? You always do, even when we were younger.”
Your mouth was slightly agape as you remained quiet, your eyes following Quinn’s that dropped to your lips briefly.
“Think I haven’t noticed it?” He spoke, his nose brushing gently against yours. “Oh, sweetheart, why don’t you ask me how I noticed.”
You couldn’t find the words to speak as you tried to process what was happening and why you liked being held like this by him.
“C’mon, don’t go all quiet on me now… go and ask.”
“How..?” your chest rose and fell unsteadily, warmth rushing around your body at you and Quinn’s close proximity. “How did you notice?”
You watched as his head lifted slightly, a soft chuckle breaking from his lips.
“Because I was watching you,” He stated, his voice an octave above a whisper as he locked his deep and softening eyes on yours. “I always watched you, starting from the moment I hit you with that damned puck.”
“You never apologised for that,” your stubborn remark mixed with the need that your voice trembled with.
“How was awkward, twelve-year-old me ever going to walk up to a pretty girl and try to explain himself?”
“You thought I was pretty?”
“I think you’re the most beautiful girl, I’ve ever seen.”
You ducked your head before Quinn tutted and lifted your head with a warming smile.
“You got me nervous,” he admitted, his voice soft in a way you’ve never heard before. “So when I hit you, I grabbed the puck and pretended it didn’t happen. It was only after that, did I realise what I had just done.”
Quinn sucked in a small breath as he continued, his thumb caressing over your cheekbone in soothing strokes.
“I tried to apologise to you so many times but you hated me too, you know? I’d already pissed you off, I didn’t want you to thoroughly hate me.”
His confession sliced at your heart but your body radiated in a desirous heat that ensnared all of your senses, as you leaned closer to his body, relishing the firmness of his chest and the way it rumbled when you’d stepped closer.
“I don’t think I could ever hate you, Quinn,” you whispered, your hands reaching up to hold onto his biceps.
“Can I kiss you?” Quinn’s hoarse voice murmured, causing your thighs to clench in anticipation. “Please?”
A primal desperation swept over you as you nodded and pulled Quinn down onto your lips. Your lips met in a clash, electricity humming around you as he swept his tongue along your lip.
For a first kiss with him, this was better than you had ever imagined.
The two of you remained locked, Quinn’s hold from where he cupped your cheeks, grounding you to the earth as you grasped at his arms to steady the sudden lightness that filled your body.
When the two of you withdrew to catch your breath, his forehead dropped to rest against yours as the two of you breathed one another in. The party downstairs was a distant memory as you surrounded yourself in Quinn and the moment that lingered in the air.
Another moment passed before the two of you jumped straight back into the kiss, the addictive excitement driving the two of you. Kissing Quinn was like driving fast with the windows down in summer; hot, freeing and thrilling.
Your hands tangled at the back of his neck as he held you tighter to his skin, one of his hands dropping to your lower back to press you against him.
A loud clatter from the stairs caused the both of you to pull apart, watching as two of Jack’s drunken friends almost face-planted. Quinn reached back out to you and dipped his head to whisper in your ear.
“Jump.”
Without another thought or complaint, you jumped into his awaiting arms, your legs locking around his waist as he carried you to his room, down the hall and out of sight from prying eyes. Quinn’s lips found yours in a feverish dance as he pushed his back against his door, to open it before he brought you inside and kicked it closed.
“Quinn,” you found yourself panting, your heart beating a mile a minute as the heat of your flesh became unbearable, the desire to have his hands all over you overwhelming your senses. “I want you.”
“You have me,” Quinn smirked, his head lowering to press kisses along the curve of your neck as he slowly sat on his bed.
Still entangled around him, your legs straddled his thighs as he pulled you close. His hands moved to your waist, holding you as he continued his tirade of kisses down your neck, pausing only to suckle on the sweet flesh casting a darkening bruise on your skin.
Soft moans of pleasure tumbled from your parted lips as your hips moved forward and back on his lap, desperate for any friction or satisfaction.
“Look at you squirming, you need it bad, hm?” Quinn teasingly murmured against your skin whilst you whined at his words, your hips rocking. “What do you say, pretty girl, want to ride a cowboy?”
His words caused a pure and animalistic craving to wrack through.
“Please,” you gasped out as he nipped your neck, brushing his tongue over the mark.
“I’ve got you,” Quinn whispered, tossing the hat from your head, his hands whipping your tank top over your head to leave you in only your bra. You felt a breath escape you at the sudden movement, your head dropping forward to look at him.
“Beautiful,” he commented with half-lidded eyes, lingering on your exposed flesh as one of his hands lifted to undo the back of the bra. The bra fell swiftly with your help, your arms tossing it somewhere into the darkness of Quinn’s room.
Quinn’s eyes darkened at the sight of your bare chest, his tongue running along his bottom lip as he admired you. You whimpered as he grasped your breast in his hand, kneading the supple flesh, eliciting a sharp moan from your lips.
“Never seen anything more perfect in my life,” he spoke, bowing his head to swirl his tongue over your nipple, his other hand pinching and kneading the other in a perfect contrast of pleasurable tension. Your hips ground down onto the growing bulge in his pants, relishing the raw material of his jeans against your shorts. He kissed across the valley of your breasts, capturing your other nipple in his mouth, showing it the same amount of attention as the other.
You were a stuttering mess, when he eventually withdrew, his eyes dark and careful as he slowly lifted you from his thighs and placed you on your shaky legs.
“Last chance, pretty girl,” Quinn breathed out, his fingers dancing along the waist of your shorts. “You sure you want this?”
Without breaking eye contact, you unbuttoned your shorts and let them fall to your ankles, stepping out of their constraints before you climbed back onto Quinn’s lap.
“I was promised a ride,” you simpered, your eyes ablaze as you bit down your lip. Your hands ran over his clothed chest, pulling the hem up, revealing Quinn’s sculpted body. He slowly sat up, allowing you to completely yank the grey shirt over his head.
In a sudden move, he gripped your hips and spun you, changing your positions so that you were pinned beneath Quinn, your chest palpitating as your eyes flared with a venereal need.
He stepped away from your body, slowly unbuttoning his jeans, as you moved to prop yourself onto your elbows.
With bated breath, you watched Quinn as he shed his clothes, your heart racing with anticipation. The air in the room felt charged with desire, every movement he made sending a jolt of electric excitement through your veins. As he discarded his jeans, revealing his toned physique, your eyes drank in the sight hungrily, a certain lust igniting within you.
Quinn's gaze never left yours, dark with intensity as he prowled towards you, his steps deliberate and purposeful. Your breath hitched as he knelt before you, his hands trailing up your thighs, sending shivers of anticipation cascading down your spine.
"So pretty," he murmured, his voice husky as his lips brushed against your skin, leaving a trail of fire in their wake whilst his hands pulled down your panties. His touch was electrifying, sending sparks of pleasure dancing across your skin. “Oh, baby, you are soaked, all this for me?”
You gulped as he let a grin crawl across his face, reaching behind him to place the panties in his drawer before he returned to you.
With trembling hands, you reached out to touch him, your fingers tracing the contours of his body, memorising every ridge and plane. The heat between you was palpable, a primal need driving you both towards each other with an irresistible force. You gently pulled him towards your face, unable to bear the tension any longer.
As Quinn's lips found yours in a searing kiss, you melted into him, surrendering to the fiery passion that consumed you both. You dragged him down on top of you, his body a heavy yet comfortable weight pressing against your bare body.
“Need to feel you,” you rasped, heat flushing across your body. “I want to feel you.” You rolled over, to be on top of him, your legs automatically pulled apart by his thick thighs. “Do you have?…have you?..condom, where?”
You found yourself babbling, finding it hard to focus on the words as your body cried in desperation. You watched as Quinn opened his fist revealing a silver, foil packet, which he’d grabbed from the drawer.
“Put it on for me?” Quinn asked cheekily, winking at you as you practically tugged the packet out of his hands.
“Fine,” you rolled your eyes, earning a soft poke in the side from the man beneath you as you shifted your weight to manoeuvre Quinn’s underwear down. Your eyes locked on his whilst fingers gently dragged the material down, allowing his thickened cock to slap against his stomach. You suppressed a guttural groan at the sight.
You were practically salivating at the view, your eyes wide with wonder as you carefully reached out and stroked down his shaft, spreading his beads of pre-cum down his length, relishing the grumble that wracked through Quinn’s chest as he watched you with parted lips and a heated look.
Your teeth ripped open the wrapper of the condom, and you slowly rolled it onto Quinn's length, feeling the tension between you bubble over. With each movement, your heart raced faster, your body craving the feeling of him that awaited.
Quinn's breath hitched as your fingers traced over his skin, as you grinned down onto his thighs, hardly able to contain the vicious warmth pulsating through your veins.
With the condom securely in place, you straddled Quinn once again, feeling the heat of his body beneath you as you positioned yourself, ready to take what you both yearned for. His cock brushed over your dripping wetness as his hands found their way to your hips, guiding you gently as you lowered yourself onto him, the shaking sensation of fullness engulfing you both.
A low, guttural moan escaped Quinn's lips as you sank down, inch by inch. Your mouth parted in pleasure, your hands grasping at the flesh of Quinn’s abs for stability. The burning sensation of the stretch to accommodate his length, fuelled your desire as you gave yourself a second to adjust to his size.
“Oh my god,” you gasped out, slowly rocking against Quinn, sparks of pleasure bursting up your spine whilst you threw your head back.
“You take it so well, pretty girl,” Quinn huffed, his tight grip on your hips urging you up and down on his cock. His grip was an anchor, keeping your body grounded despite the ethereal pleasure you were experiencing.
Your walls tightened around the ridges of his length as it glided through your wetness. The room was filled with a cacophony of sounds, your pants of satisfaction mixing with Quinn’s carnal groans.
Your bodies moved in perfect harmony, a symphony of passion and desire as you lost yourselves in the rhythm of the moment.
Quinn’s hand crept towards the epicentre of your pleasure, his thumb circling your bud as you ground down on him. You let out a strangled yelp as he thrust up to meet your movements, both of you chasing your orgasms.
Your nails dug into his flesh as you moved up and down with his guidance. Your pelvis meeting the the sparse hair on the base of his cock as he hit the spongey spot inside you that erupted in glorious pulses every time he brushed against it.
“I can feel you clenching me,” Quinn murmured, his thumb quickening against your clit as you approached the edge of ecstasy. “You gonna come for me, pretty girl?”
“Quinn,” you panted out, picking up your speed as you tethered on the dangerous edge of your climax.
“That’s right,” He urged, his thrusts up unwavering as you met them in pure need. “Let everyone know who’s making you come.”
Your thighs shook as the knotted tension in your stomach loosened as Quinn pulled you closer and closer to that glorious bliss.
“Y’look so good,” Quinn practically slurred, his eyes half-lidded as he watched you bounce. “You’re so close, pretty girl, c’mon, let go, I’ve got you.”
His words shot straight down your core as the tension in your stomach exploded, as your body shook in the purest of pleasure, loud moans escaping your parted lips as your orgasm washed over you.
Quinn pumped up into you, letting you ride through the bliss as he grew closer and closer to his own. His grip on your hips held you on him as you relentlessly clenched around his length.
With a final grunt and a chasing thrust, his grip tightened and he spilt into you, eliciting a whine from you at the mere feeling.
Your body felt boneless as Quinn pulled you down onto his chest, his arms wrapping around you to hold you close. Both of your chests rose and fell in sync, both completely blissed out whilst his hand entangled in your hair, holding your head toward the crook of his neck.
You moved your head carefully to press chaste kisses to his jaw, as he lightly chuckled and adjusted his hold on you.
“How was your ride, pretty girl?” Quinn mumbled, his head lolling to the side to meet your eyes.
“Perfect, 7/10,” you whispered with a soft smile, your fingers tracing his cheek.
“Only seven?” Quinn spluttered in shock, but before he could descend into a panic, you continued.
“Mhm…I think we need to go again,” you nodded very seriously, mischief glittering in your eyes. “You need to convince me, cowboy.”
“You’re a cheeky thing, aren’t you,” Quinn hummed, his hand twisting around your hair to gently pull your head back.
“You like it,” you smiled, brushing your lips across his.
“Damn right I do,” Quinn growled, “Now hop back on, baby, seems like I have some convincing to do.”
Hope you enjoyed! any and all feedback is welcomed with open arms

age is just a number ☆ quinn hughes
note: Ahhh! I love writing Quinn so much😭 this was written in 20 minutes, i'll edit it later, i just really wanted to post it cause I have 0 patience and self control
requested: yes
summary: luke bsf x Quinn hughes. 4 year age gap. After some comments were made by Quinn's brothers, you get a little insecure in your relationship and Quinn has to reassure you
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You and Quinn had been dating a few months now. sneaking around behind everyone's backs including Luke. Your best friend and Quinn's youngest brother.
The four of you were sitting in the living room at the lake house, watching some movie. Jack and Luke were chirping Quinn about some actress that he used to have a crush on. Going on and on about how he had a thing for older women because he was such a mommas boy.
You laughed along at first, always finding it so endearing to watch the brothers bicker back and forth. Even though you've been around to witness it for quite a few years now...it never got old.Your smile quickly faded when Jack started making comments about how all Quinn's relationships with younger women has failed, and that he should go for someone older this time, cause it doesn't seem like the younger girls can handle him.
You know you shouldn't let these comments bother you. It wasn't that serious and it wasn't directed towards you, but it was one of your, if not the biggest insecurity you had when it came to your relationship with Quinn. Being four years younger than him. Not being enough to keep him interested. These comments from two people who probably knew him the best, didn't do anything to reassure you.
"I'll be right back," you whisper, avoiding Quinn's eyes as you make your way to the bathroom.
A few minutes later there's a soft knock on the door and Quinn enters, shutting the door behind him and coming over to where you're standing in front of the sink. He wraps his arms around you from behind, pulling you closer and kissing your shoulder softly.
"What's wrong sweetheart?" he asks you softly
"Nothing," you mumble and he puts his hands on your hips, spinning you around to face him and pushing you against the counter.
"Don't lie to me. I know you well enough to know everything's not okay and even if I didnt this pout is enough to tell me there's something wrong." Quinn says, rubbing circles on your hip and tracing your lips with the thumb of his other hand.
"Do you think I'm too young for you?" the words slip out before you can stop them and Quinn sighs, knowing his brother's comments was the cause of this.
"Age is just a number baby," Quinn says teasingly and you sigh.
"Quinn I'm being serious," you retort, grabbing both of his hands and holding them in yours, the way they were caressing you becoming a little too distracting.
"So am I. I don't care if you're 4 years younger or 4 years older or if you were born the exact same day I was. It doesn't change the fact that you're perfect for me. You know how Jack is, especially if he's been drinking, he can't keep his mouth shut. Especially if there's an opportunity to chrip me about something. If they knew that we were together, he would be more careful about making remarks like that." Quinn says and you bite the inside of your cheek, knowing he was right.
"I'm not ready to tell Luke yet." you say and Quinn nods, expecting that response from you.
"The longer we wait, the worse it's gonna be." Quinn replies and you look down, not wanting to argue about this. again.
Quinn sighs softly before taking his hand out of yours and cupping your face between his palms, planting a soft kiss on your lips.
"God it's torture seeing you all day and not being able to touch you. Kiss you." he says wrapping his arms around your waist and just hugging you for a few minutes. You smile a bit, thinking that this is exactly why he was nicknamed "huggy bear". Your guy loves hugging.
"I'll sneak into your room tonight. If you think a young girl like me can handle you," you quip and Quinn chuckles, knowing you're not gonna let that go for a while.
"I think you can handle me just fine baby" Quinn smirks, slapping your ass as you walk past him, and out the door.

getting into a argument after a tough loss, the only way you can resolve your fight is by quinn bossing you around. can you take all of him, or nah…?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“it’s not your fault quinn, you played the best you could.” we’re on the road driving home from the canucks game. they lost 4-1, he’s beating himself up, thinking he lead his team to failure, against an easily beatable team at that. quinn’s fingers grip harshly on the steering wheel, his knuckles turning white with pressure. i notice his jaw clench, teeth grinding together as he lightly speeds down the dark road.
he doesn’t talk to me, there isn’t much to say. i look out the window, not daring to look at him in his angered manner. “what do you want from me quinn, do you want me to coddle you and tell you everything will be okay?” i bicker at him, my short temper showing when i know this isn’t a good time. my heart regrets the second those words escape my lips.
his teeth pierce the inside of his cheek, his eyebrows squeeze together in annoyance. “jesus Y/N, can you take five seconds off to being a complete asshole.” i’m not stunned by his words, we often have disagreements and bicker back and forth, but it always ends in the same thing. hate sex.
“i’m not the one who’s moping around because his team lost one game, it’s not the end of the world quinn.” i roll my eyes and look out the window.
he huffs, “don’t roll your eyes at me Y/N, i’ll give you a reason to roll your eyes.” quinn’s grip tightens on the wheel, turning into a backroad on the way to our house. i don’t listen to him, rolling my eyes at his bitchy demeanour again. he pulls over on the side of the road and slams on the breaks, making me wince with a jump. “out of the car, now.” he demands, i don’t waste a second to work with his wishes.
the cold winter air hits me hard, my cheeks and nose flushing with a blush. quinn slams the car door once he steps out of the drives seat, rounding the car and meeting me on the side of the abandoned road. popping open the back car door, he sits on the seat, facing me on the outside. “on your knees.” he husks.
i don’t hesitate, the rubble piercing my exposed skin as i’m only wearing a skirt, i don’t mind it, just ready for what’s in store my adrenaline overrides the soft pain. quinn unzips his own jeans, “you’re going to suck my cock like the slut you are. it’ll keep your mouth shut for once.” his eyes glare down at me, shimmying his jeans and boxers off of his hips.
quinn’s already hard cock springs out of his boxers, hitting the bottom of his stomach before coming back at my face. my fingers graze his light pink tip that’s already coated in pre cum, softly rubbing before going down the shaft, warming up his needy cock. i lower my head down, swirling my teasing tongue around the head, my spit coating his aching cock. “don’t be tease now. take it all.” quinn forms my hair into a makeshift ponytail, pulling the roots of my hair enough to make me wince.
i curse under my breath, he bucks his hips up, letting himself slide into my warm and wet mouth. my hand goes down to his base, playing with the length i haven’t touched yet. my tongue acts as a pillow for his cock, laying on it as i slide myself down farther. it doesn’t take long for quinn’s length to hit the back of my throat, he stops forcing himself farther when he feels be gag too much.
easing his hips back before bucking themselves up again. my hand corkscrews the rest of his base, my other resting on quinn’s thigh to steady myself. he uses his hands to guide my head up and down while thrusting his hips, fucking my face softly at first. it doesn’t take long for him to start getting rougher, hitting the back of my throat to receive a little gag every stroke.
i dig my nails into his thigh, my pussy starting to drip with need and desire to be filled with him. i clench around nothing, trying to give myself a little something to feel good with. i take my hand off of his thigh, running down my body to my crotch. my fingers slide up and down my clothed cunt, pressing harder where my clit sits, getting a soft moan around quinn’s cock as i hit my sensitive bud.
he pulls my hair up, his cock leaving my mouth with a soft pop. “are you touching yourself while sucking my cock?” he asks in a rough manner, i nod, not being able to find words. “what makes you think you deserve that. you’ve been nothing but a brat, make me cum and maybe you’ll get something in return.”
my eyes are soft and wide as i look up at him, dragging my hand away from my desperate cunt and back onto his thigh. “good girl.” he mutters. before he can ask me to, i take him back into my mouth, sliding down till it hits the very back of my throat. quinn groans with surprise above me, letting out a soft whimper as he tightens his grip on my hair, pushing me up and down with ease.
my tongue drags up and down, feeling every vein that runs up his length. my freshly manicured nails dig into his skin, my thighs clench together to cause the friction that it so needs.
quinn turns into a groaning mess above me, every time i get to his tip and circle my tongue around it he softly whimpers. sliding my mouth back down on his cock, the sound of a passing car makes my stomach burn with anxiety. it makes me stop in my tracks, quinn’s cock filling up my mouth but my head doesn’t move an inch. i feel his burning gaze down at me, scolding me for stopping.
“no one’s doing to see us, don’t stop, not now.” he practically growls at me. he pushes my head down him farther, taking control of me. i let him continue his control, pulling my head by my hair back up his cock. he bucks his hips at the same time, not letting himself slip out of the warmness of my mouth again. i soft moan against him, “oh yeah..? you like when i fuck your mouth like this?” quinn’s voice comes out in a groan, showing his neediness for me but his dominance over me at the same time.
i can tell he’s getting close as his thighs clench underneath my hands, his thrusts up into my mouth becoming more needy. every time his tip hits the back of my throat making me gag gets him closer, groans filling the night air.
“fuck.” he curses out, then i feel it. liquid spitting out of his cock as his pace slows, chasing his own high desperately. my eyes stay trained on his face as he tilts his head back, his eyes screwing shut as he lets his orgasm take over him.
quinn pulls my head back up, his spent dick falling out of my mouth. he smirks at me, acknowledging the talent i have with just my mouth. “see, it wasn’t that hard to be good.” he whispers, pulling me up his body.
quinn’s lips smash onto mine, my teeth biting down on his bottom lip to let my tongue slide in, letting him taste the hint of him that still lingers in my mouth. he releases his grasp on my hair, instead falling down to my waist as he replaces my tongue with his, filling up my mouth.
he suddenly backs away, getting up from the car seat and joining me in standing next to the car. i don’t expect him to slam the door shut, his hands going back to my waist to pin me against the closed door. hands running down my sides to my ass, giving it a tight squeeze receiving a soft hum from me.
quinn lowers his body, kneeling on the ground as his hands slowly make way down my naked legs. my leg gets lifted, hooking onto his shoulder to let him look up at my core. getting a glimpse of my black laced panties, he slides a singer up my folds, landing on my clit, giving it a teasing rub. i take a deep breath in through my teeth, my pussy clenching around nothing as i badly crave for more of him.
he hooks two fingers in the side of my panties, moving them to the side to get an easy view of my soaked pussy. i don’t miss the smirk on his face, he always takes pleasure in seeing what i do to him, even just by sucking him off.
he replaces his fingers with his mouth, giving me a soft and teasing kiss on my clit. my hand gravitates to his hair, pulling at his soft brown curls. i push him closer to me, needing more of him so badly. he pulls against my wishes, not granting me the one thing i need so badly.
“be patient baby.” quinn’s demeanour changes from the once demanding man to a soft and gentle one. that’s how quinn always is when he eats me out, soft and praising as he gets drunk off the taste of my pussy.
he finally goes back in, his tongue flicking softly against my sensitive bud. the stubble of his growing out beard rubs against the inside of my thighs making me whimper. my knees buckle as i try not to fall from the pleasure, my back slightly arching off the cold car door being me. my head rolls back softy as quinn slides a finger into me, “keep your eyes on me pretty girl.” he softly demands of me. it’s one of his rules in bed, when he’s eating me out, my eyes have to stay on his.
i oblige, staring down at him as his mouth disappears under my skirt. my hands grab the hem of my skirt, hiking it up so i can see more of what he does to me. his tongue circling my aching clit as he adds a second finger into my hole, my walls clenching with the new added filling.
i mumble curses under my breath, quinn’s fingers curling up to my g-spot instead of jamming in and out. he takes his time with me, my hands pushing him in farther as i already feel my orgasm coming up to me, about to hit me like a bus. quinn knows it’s coming too, the quickness of his tongue against me rabidly increasing with every lick. his grip on my thigh that’s laying on his shoulder tightening, and the other on my ass playing with it.
my body can’t take it anymore, clenching one more time around him as i set my release. my loud moans filling the chilly air around me, my breath leaving with a smell smoke of air. i don’t realize the closing of my thighs, capturing quinn who has to guide my legs apart to release himself.
his fingers leave me, making me feel empty again. he slides them into his mouth, licking me off of them before doing the same against my folds. i wince slightly, my still sensitive pussy being cleaned by quinn’s tongue. “you taste so good baby.” he mumbles against me making me whimper once more.
he finishes, climbing back up my body to press his lips back against mine. this time i taste myself along his lips and tongue, moaning at the taste of sex between our mouths. “see, it doesn’t take a lot for you to be good.” quinn whispers to me.
the passenger door opens as he pulls it, letting me slip into the chair. he rounds the car, slipping into the drivers seat beside me. we finish our drive him, finally both getting the rest we so desperately need.

Comments: I’m back with some highly emotional goodness. This fic was halfway done for a long time until your overwhelming reactions to my WIP ask game really got me in gear to start writing again. I really like the way this turned out, and I hope you do, too. It's, like, 98% dialogue, so if that's not your thing, I won't be offended if you skip this one, but it is setting up all of our off-season fics.
If you enjoyed this, please let me know by commenting, reblogging, or sending in an ask. Your encouragement and comments truly inspire me to keep writing.
I love Quinn and Sarah, and I’m constantly blown away that so many of you love them, too.
Summer Decisions
A Quinn & Sarah Snapshot
“My parents want to know if you want to come to our family reunion over the 4th of July. It’s in New Hampshire.”
“Oh,” she said, voice quiet.
“Is that not okay?”
“It’s just a big step,” she said, “meeting your whole family.”
“I’m meeting your family in June, aren’t I?” he asked.
They’d discussed him coming to visit when she went home for a few weeks after school. Were it not for the Canucks making it into the playoffs, she would have bought a ticket for the Monday after her classes would be done. Instead, she pushed her visit back until mid-June, wanting to be in Vancouver to support him through the entirety of their run, however long it may be.
“Yeah, I guess that’s true.”
It was a little strange to her how comfortably serious they were, but she couldn’t imagine life with Quinn any other way. It was that fated belonging she’d talked about so much when they first met. Even still, it was a little jarring to think about him meeting her family or meeting his before they even hit the six month mark.
The phrase, ‘when you know, you know,’ never made sense until she met him. She knew, and even though it felt too fast and scary sometimes, she knew it would all turn out okay.
“So we’ll fly out from Van, what? The night before?”
“I’ll have to fly out from Michigan.”
“Michigan? Why?”
“I thought I told you we train in Michigan in the summer.”
“You did, but I thought… I thought maybe that changed?”
“Why?”
“Because of us?” she gestured between them.
“I mean, I’d love for you to come with me.”
“I can’t do that, Quinn.”
“Why not?”
“I can’t just pack up and move to Michigan. I still have my research work, and if I’m not working or in school for more than 6 weeks in a quarter, it violates my education visa. Not only will I have to move back to the States, I won’t be able to finish my degree.”
“Then I’ll fly you out every weekend.”
Pricked, the old wound split open, and she couldn’t quite hide the annoyance in her voice, “so it’s up to me to fly to you?”
Shit. He hadn’t taken her schedule into account again. “Sorry, no. Of course I’d come here, too.”
The annoyance still fresh in her mind she found herself asking, “why do I have to remind you my time matters for you to take it into account?”
Quinn winced. “I know your time matters. I’m sorry, it’s not fair for me to assume you could just pack up and move or fly out every weekend.”
“Then don’t bring it up again,” she said.
Okay then.
“I’m trying here, Sarah. This is all new to me, too.” He’d never felt close enough with June to figure out a summer situation. They saw each other once or twice when he was gone, and that was enough. Looking back, that should have been a huge sign about the trajectory of their relationship.
“And yet, I assume because I have a vagina, I was raised to take other people into account.”
“That’s not fair,” he said.
“No? Then why do you always jump into me coming to you? Into me changing my plans? Into me inconveniencing my life before you do?”
Fuck. This wasn’t supposed to go this way. This was supposed to be a nice, light conversation about how he wanted her to meet everyone he loved.
“Maybe we should just break up for the summer,” she said when he didn’t say anything.
“What? No!” Quinn sucked his bottom lip into his mouth, hurt and disgruntled she would even suggest such a thing.
“What would you suggest, then?”
Instead of answering her question, he asked one of his own. “Do you want to date someone else?” His voice was hesitant as he braced himself for the blow.
“No. Of course not.”
“Then why do you want to break up?” he asked through the relief easing his mind. “Why would you even say that?”
“Because we won’t be together.”
“That doesn’t mean we should just call it off. Why do you always jump into ‘we should break up’ or ‘I should go’ when something hard comes up?”
“I…” Sarah broke off, caught. “I don’t know.”
“Maybe you should figure that out because I’m willing to put in the work here,” he said, gesturing between them.
“That’s not fair.”
He raised his eyebrows instead of throwing her words back in her face.
“I’m sorry, Quinn. I am trying, and I know you’re trying.” Tears pricked at her eyes, “I’ve just…” her mind whirred, trying to find the right explanation. In the end, as it always did with Quinn, the truth won out. “I’m scared I’m going to fuck it up and I don’t want to lose you.”
Bridging the space between them with one big step, he pulled her against him. When they boiled down to the heart of the problem, they were both scared of the same thing.
Tucking his nose into her hair, he breathed in the calming, smokey scent that was uniquely hers. “I don’t want to lose you, either,” he said. “We can still be together. Just separately.”
A laugh snorted from her nose, and she pulled back, “what?”
“Long distance?”
It was Sarah's turn to suck on her lip. “I’ve never done that before.”
“I have. It's not easy. But I think we're both committed enough to make it work. Plus, we'll see each other pretty often.”
She had her thinking face on as a pregnant pause passed, so Quinn didn’t interrupt.
“What would that look like?” she asked, finally.
“We’d talk on the phone and video chat a lot. I can come see you every weekend.”
“That doesn't make sense, Quinn. You go to Michigan to train and be with family. If you're flying back here every weekend, won't that mess with those things?”
“Probably, but —”
“Then it's out of the question. You need to do what you need to do.”
He felt whiplashed. “I thought you wanted me to come here.”
“Only in equal measure to me coming to you. I won’t let you give up your summer training for me.”
It stuck him how much care and understanding were laid out in that statement.
“Just like I know you wouldn’t want me to give up my research for you. It wouldn’t be fair.”
Still wrapped in each others arms, Sarah rested her head on his shoulder as they thought.
Tucking his face into her hair again, Quinn breathed deeply. As always, that smokey, vanilla scent was so calming to him. He couldn’t ever get it out of his mind.
“This fucking sucks,” he said, voice muffled.
“I know,” she agreed. “I wish it could be different."
It couldn’t. They both had commitments that needed to be fulfilled, and they just didn’t match up.
“I wish I’d known. I would have made different plans.”
“How would you have known?” she asked. “We only met four months ago.”
“Has it only been that long?” he asked. The reality of the swiftness of their relationship hit him full force. “I feel like I’ve known you forever.”
“I know. I do too.”
“I don’t want to go the summer without you,” he said, caressing her cheek with the backs of his fingers.
“I don’t either,” she agreed, “but it’s not like it’ll be five months where we just don’t see each other.”
“Four,” he corrected.
“What?”
“Four months, I come back in September.”
Well, that was a relief.
“Okay, four months. I mean, we already have stuff planned. Let’s talk through what we do have,” she suggested, breaking away from him all together and pulling her planner from her bag. Flipping to the summer months, she lay it on top of her comparative physiology textbook and sat at the table. The urge to make a plan itched beneath her skin.
He sat next to her, leaning in.
“So we have my family in June,” she said, pointing out the 10 days she had blocked out for her visit, “I sort of expected you’d come on the weekend?”
“Yeah, that sounds good. And our reunion over the forth,” he said, flipping the page. “Then, we’re going to Hawaii at the end of July. You can come. I’ll get you a ticket.”
“Hold on, have you talked to your family about this?”
“No, but it’ll be fine.”
She shook her head.
He couldn’t believe she was turning down the option to spend two more weeks together.
“That’s your family vacation, Quinn. I’d love to come, but I don’t want to go inserting myself —”
“You’re not inserting yourself, I’m inviting you.”
“And I’m telling you I won’t come unless all your family is okay with it. Including Jack.”
Even though Quinn had assured her Jack was a good guy and very devoted to his family and would come around once they met, he was still aloof anytime she happened to be around when he and Quinn were talking. Even Ellen had said as much, but Sarah still felt hesitant. Until she saw it from Jack himself, she wasn’t about to jump into an already planned vacation. She knew what it was like having a new person join the family. She didn’t want to make it any harder than it had to be.
Quinn huffed.
“The last thing I want is to come between you and your brothers,” she said gently.
His expression softened. “Okay. I’ll talk to them about it when they’re here.”
“So, it looks like we’ll see each other every three weeks or so, depending on when you come to Nevada and what Hawaii looks like. At least until August.”
Every three weeks felt like too long. He could hardly stand a week on the road, and they weren’t even living together. Yet.
“I’d like you to come out to Michigan,” he said, “meet the guys. See the house.”
“Okay,” she agreed. “And you can come back here sometime here,” she said, her finger circling over a few weeks in August.
Quinn nodded. It certainly wasn’t going to be easy, but it did feel better to have a plan.
“Are you renting this place out for the summer,” she asked, “while you’re gone?”
“I kind of thought you might move in here.”
“What?”
“I mean, it’s just going to be empty, and I’d really like to live with you when I move back.”
She couldn’t believe he could drop such a huge bomb so easily. As she tried to reconcile what he was saying, she repeated, “what?”
“I mean…” he paused, voice and expression suddenly hesitant, “only if you want to.”
Her brain finally caught up, “it’s not that. It’s just…we haven’t even talked about living together, and now you have this whole plan about how I should live here over the summer.”
“I just thought there’s no real need for you to pay for rent anymore, since you spend so much time here anyway.”
“I…” she was struck with the care in that statement, “that’s really sweet, Quinn.”
He beamed.
“But I can’t live here alone all summer.”
Expression falling, he opened his mouth.
“I just —” she interrupted before she lost her nerve. What was one more in a series of already vulnerable conversations? “I’d love to live here with you, but I can’t…I don’t know how my depression will act up if I live alone for that long. I’ve never lived on my own before, and I don’t think a summer where I’m missing my boyfriend is the best time to start.”
The thought that she’d be here alone hadn’t crossed his mind. Not in a concrete way. Like, he knew she’d be here, and he knew he’d be in Michigan, but he never thought about it like she would be the only one in the apartment.
“Oh,” he whispered, taking her hands in his, “then of course not.”
His immediate acceptance made tears rush to her eyes.
“What’s wrong?” Quinn asked as she took a hand back to wipe her face.
Smiling despite the tears on her cheeks, she shook her head. “I just really love you.” Her voice sounded full, almost like she had a cold.
“I love you, too,” he said, feeling a little confused, “but I don’t know why you’re crying.”
“Just…” How could she explain something like this? “The way you accept and trust my needs. It’s really nice.”
“The last thing I want is for you to be unhappy, Sarah.”
This brought on a new wave of tears, and she tucked her head into his shoulder, trying to pull herself together.
Quinn still felt a little whiplashed but tried to roll with it, running a soothing hand over her back.
“What?” he asked when she mumbled something into his shirt.
Pulling back, she wiped her nose before repeating, “I’ll have to sign a new lease. It comes up in July.”
“I’ll buy you out of it,” he said as if it was the simplest, easiest solution to any of the problems they’d discussed that day.
“I can’t let you do that, Quinn. That’s a lot of money.”
Her eyes went wide. They’d never discussed money so concretely. She knew he made big bucks. All pro athletes did, but, “eight million?” she asked. “What do you do with it?”
He hated having this conversation, but it needed to be had. It was actually a little surprising to him that it’d taken this long for it to come up. June had asked him about it a month into dating.
“Sarah, I make eight million dollars a year. I can buy out your lease.”
“I have a financial advisor who’s helped me invest most of it,” he said, “and I don’t really have all eight million available all the time. But I paid off my parents and some of our families’ houses, and I give quite a bit to charity.”
She’d seen the way he was with money. He never worried about it, but he certainly didn’t throw it at anything and everything. He wasn’t irresponsible.
Opening her mouth to say something, she found her mind still reeling and closed it again.
The annoyed look he would give her when she paid the dinner bill flashed in her mind. No wonder. He made so much more than she did. All the same, she wasn’t about to become some sugar baby. That went against nearly everything her parents had taught her.
“I still want to pull my weight,” she said.
Quinn was a little taken aback by the fierceness in her voice, “what?”
“If we move in together, I still want to pull my weight.”
His lips pursed, and he held back his initial response in favor of gathering more information. “What do you mean?”
“Like, if I make $80,000 a year, I want to pay whatever percentage that is of what you make.”
“You only make $80,000 a year?” he asked.
“No. Right now, I make $50,000 a year from my research stipend. It pays for my schooling, too, so it’s technically more, but $80,000 is a general base salary for a marine zoologist.”
“You’ve been living on $50,000 a year?”
“Yes, and I’ve been fine,” she said, giving him a look that stifled any follow-up questions he may have had. “My point is that if —” she paused to correct herself, “when we live together,” he beamed and she lost her thought for a moment before continuing, “I want to pull my weight, even if it is just a small percentage of the household. I don’t want to be some beholden trophy wife.”
“Beholden?” he repeated, an amused smile playing on his lips.
“Yes, I don’t want to be some kept woman. A lot of financial advisors that I listen to say you should split the household and each pay the percentage compared to your salaries. How much do you pay here a month? Do you rent? Is it a mortgage?”
“It’s a rental. It’s not really smart for me to buy a place when there’s a chance I may get traded in three years. It’s not enough time to build adequate equity on a home.”
Sarah stuck a mental pin in that to come back to, “and how much is your rent?”
“12,000.”
“A year?” she found herself asking, even though she knew that couldn’t possibly be the answer.
“A month,” he said with an indulgent smile, knowing it was her shock speaking more than anything else.
She wasn’t quite sure why, but this fact struck Sarah harder than anything else they’d talked about. She knew she’d never be able to afford an apartment like this on her own, but this was insane. More than a fifth of her yearly salary went to Quinn’s rent each month. She counted herself lucky to find a private room for under $2000.
“Okay, so if I make,” she paused, doing mental calculations - moving decimal points. Her voice was flat when she spoke again, “one percent of what you do…” She trailed off, looking into his face, “Quinn, this is insane.”
“I know,” he agreed. “I’m happy to just pay, but if you would feel better paying whatever, I’m happy for you to do that, too.”
“So, I’d pay one percent of the household expenses.” Saying it out loud, it sounded so silly. One percent? That seemed minuscule, too insignificant to matter. “Maybe I could pay ten percent? One feels too tiny.”
“Sure,” Quinn said, knowing this was important to her. Unless she was storming in, trying to take over all the bills, he was happy to have her contribute in whatever way she wanted. “If you want to do that, let’s do that. Whatever you’re comfortable with.”
They sat quietly for a moment, and he gathered his thoughts.
“I know it’s important to you to contribute,” Quinn said gently, “and I’m not saying you shouldn’t - but I just want you to know I’m happy to pay for things. I know I’m insanely blessed to make the kind of money I do to play a sport that I love. I’d really, really like to live together once I move back. So if that means I need to buy out your lease, I’m happy to do it if you’re comfortable with that.”
Pulling her bottom lip between her teeth, she thought. If Quinn paid off her lease, she wouldn’t have to put off moving in with him or live on her own in this giant apartment or find a place to live for the two months between when he was home and when her lease was up.
She wondered if this was one of those instances her grandmother often talked about. “Sometimes,” she would say while they were cleaning the basement or kneading dough, or working in the garden, “life showers you with blessings. And it’s up to you to catch them.”
She always accompanied this wisdom by shaping her hands into a bowl as if to fill them with water.
Sarah did the same now, pulling her other hand out of Quinns to cup them together.
Eyebrows knitted together, he glanced from her hands to her face.
She giggled and told him the story.
“I should start doing that every morning,” he said, cupping his own hands together.
“Every morning?” she repeated.
“Well, every morning that you’re here. When I wake up next to you, I feel like the luckiest guy alive.”
Despite it being incredibly cheesy, Sarah couldn’t help feeling moved. “Quinn that’s really sweet,” she said. “I feel like that, too,” she paused, feeling like she needed to add a caveat. “And I want you to know your money isn’t part of that. I would love you no matter how much money you were making.”
“I know,” he said, leaning in to brush his lips over hers, “I’ve known that from the start.”
His hands found her waist as their lips connected.
A while later, that pin she’d stuck in for later snapped back into her mind, and Sarah pulled away. “What did you mean about getting traded?”
Well, they might as well have all the hard conversations all at once. “I’m in contract for the next three years, but after that, or even before, there’s always a chance I could get traded.”
The trade deadline had already passed for the season, and Sarah had watched, fascinated, as players were moved around from club to club, like pieces on a chess board as organizations tried to build the best teams possible. Now, she had a new level of understanding, knowing lives and families were being uprooted in the process.
“But they love you here.”
His smile was wide and genuine, “I love it here, too. I don’t really expect I’d be traded anytime soon, but I can’t say never with what I do. I could get seriously injured, or my game could crash.”
She gave him an incredulous look.
“Its happened before.”
“To you?”
“No, but it has to people I know. I really like it here, but I can’t guarantee I’ll play here forever, or even for the next three years. I think I will, but I can’t say for certain.”
“What happens if you get traded while I’m still finishing my degree?”
“I don’t think that will happen, but I guess we’d make it work apart until you were done. Most players get traded right at the end of their contract, so we’d be apart for the rest of the season, and then we’d decide what to do moving forward. If I was moving clubs by choice, we’d decide where to go together. ”
She nodded. “Do you get any say in trades?”
“I think I probably would, but it doesn’t always work out that way. I mean, Bo had a monster year last season, but they couldn’t come to an agreement, and so he got traded, and I know he would have liked to stay. It’s just never guaranteed.”
“How do you live your life like this?” she asked.
He shrugged, “you just kind of have to get used to the idea that things could change tomorrow.”
“That sucks.”
“Yeah.”
The concerns his parents had expressed when they were here snapped into place, and a sudden, consuming worry that she might not want this kind of life overwhelmed him.
“Are you,” he paused to lick his lips, trying to find the right phrasing, “I mean, do you think you could be okay with that?”
Even as it was racing with anxiety, the worried look on his face melted Sarah’s heart. It was difficult to reconcile the fact that while it felt steady now, his life had the possibility of being in flux all the time, and that where he chose to work was only partially up to him. At the same time, she didn’t want to be without him. The pull between them was too strong, too fated in a way she couldn’t deny. She was too in love with him to be scared of the reality of his life.
There was only one thing for it. “It’ll take some getting used to, but I think I can,” she said. Perhaps this wasn’t even something she needed to be worried about. Thoughts buzzing, she tried to think of players on Quinn’s level who’d been traded recently. She couldn’t remember any off the top of her head. She’d have to look it up.
He gave her a relieved smile, and she saw moisture shining in his eyes.
“Oh, Quinn,” she said, her hands coming up to cup his face. The course hairs of his beard tickled her palms. “I think I’d probably move to the ends of the earth with you.” The words just fell out of her mouth, and once they were out there, spoken aloud for everyone to hear, she realized how true they were. For someone so practical, it was strange for her to have such a frivolous thought mean so much.
His face split into a beaming smile, and he pulled her into a hug. Tucking his nose into her hair again, he let a few grateful tears fall. “I don’t know what I ever did to deserve you,” he said.
“I don’t know either.”
A sudden, surprised laugh barked from his chest, and he pulled back with a raised brow.
“Oh no,” her hand went to her mouth as a blush blazed over her cheeks. “I meant that I feel the same way.” Shaking her head, she wondered if she had ever said something so stupid. “You’re the most understanding, accepting man I’ve ever met, Quinn. I’m so glad the Universe brought us together.”
He nodded, “me too.”
Looking into his eyes, which seemed more hazel than usual to the point that she could almost see a ring of green near the iris, the reality of what was coming hit her square in the chest, “this summer is gonna fucking suck.”
“I know,” he said, pulling her into his lap.
Arms around his shoulders to bring herself closer, her feet hung awkwardly off the sides of the chair. Though she knew her toes would be tingling from lack of blood flow within a matter of minutes, she didn’t readjust, savoring the feeling of his solid chest against hers.
The deep breath she sighed out moved her whole body against his. “We’ll get through it together, right?”
Tightening his grip, Quinn agreed.
As the minutes passed, his hands traveled over her back in slow, calming waves that put her totally at ease.
“Do you have homework?” he asked quietly, almost as if he didn’t want to hear the question himself.
“Yeah, but it can wait a while.”
A pleased little hum filtered up his throat, and he pulled her tighter against him.
“Can we move to the couch, though?” she asked. “My feet are falling asleep.”
Laughing, he stood, hands cradling her butt to keep her wrapped around him. When she hooked her ankles around his back, Quinn filed the position away to try later.
Halfway up the stairs, Sarah unwound herself from him. Sure, he was an athlete, but carrying her up the stairs was still taking a toll.
She lay down on the suede couch and held her arms open for him. He gratefully lay on top of her, his head on her chest.
Running her fingers through his hair, Sarah replayed their relationship in her mind. Knowing what she knew now, both about Quinn’s celebrity status and his quiet nature, the fact that he came up to her at all was a miracle. He could have any woman in the city, and he’d stuck his neck out for her. It was overwhelming to think about sometimes. She hoped she was living up to his expectations.
Half an hour later, Quinns phone chirped with a notification, bringing them out of their sleepy reverie. By that time, they’d switched places, and Sarah was draped over him.
“It’s 6,” he whispered into her hair. “I’ve got to get up to make dinner.”
Even as she whined, Sarah pushed herself up. This soft, caring version of Quinn was always her favorite, and she didn’t want to let him go. “I love you,” she said, looking down at him.
“I love you, too,” he said, standing and hugging her to him again before they had to get back to real life.
Her arms tightened around him. “I don’t know what I ever did to deserve you, Quinn Hughes, but I’m so glad you’re mine.”
Tucking his face into her neck, he pressed a few soft kisses there before telling her, “Sarah Roberts, you are the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

"I think that guy is flirting with Y/N," Brock comments, giving Quinn a nudge in the shoulder as he gestures towards the bar. Quinn's brows furrow in confusion, his attention drawn to you. You're dressed in a skin-tight little black dress that ends halfway above your knees, a silhouette that commands attention. At the bar, another man stands, leaning against the counter, fully turned towards you, engaging in conversation.
"Yeah, looks like it," Quinn agrees, his teeth grazing over his bottom lip in a contemplative manner as he absentmindedly stirs the straw around his now-empty glass. His gaze remains fixed on the unfolding scene between you and the mystery guy.
"Are you gonna go over there?"
Quinn shakes his head, a confident yet calm assurance in his response. He's not worried in the least. While he'd intervene if you signaled any distress, he trusts you implicitly, and knows you can handle yourself well.
He doesn't even notice when Brock excuses himself to go to the bathroom; Quinn is too entranced by you to realize he's now the sole occupant at the table.
His attention remains fixed on you, captivated by the sight of your head thrown back in laughter. The bartender places two drinks in front of you, and Quinn watches intently as you take both in your hands. A brief exchange of words occurs between you and the mystery guy, and then, with a graceful turn on your heels, you make your way back to the booth where Quinn and the others were situated.
"Babe!" You exclaim animatedly, stumbling to a pause to set the drinks down before practically falling to claim your spot on Quinn's lap. His hands instinctively wrap around your waist, pulling you closer as he inhales your signature scent—Japanese Cherry Blossom. "Tyler over there bought our drinks, isn't that so sweet of him?"
Both of you glance back at the bar where he still stands, his face a mix of confusion and shock. Quinn knows Tyler expected you to go to the booth of girls just in front of the two of you, and that causes his lips to twist into a small smirk. Quinn raises his glass to him, nodding his head as a salute. Effortlessly, he tilts the glass against his lips.
"Good?" you ask.
"Mhmm," he responds, his tongue briefly darting out to catch stray drips of whiskey on his bottom lip. "You want some, baby?"
You nod eagerly, and he brings the glass up to his lips once more. Before you can fully process the motion, his hand gently grips the skin of your neck, tilting your head back ever so slightly. Straightening up, he latches his lips to yours. The full-bodied, sweet and smoky liquid filters into your mouth with grace, and you swallow quickly before Quinn engages your tongue in a passionate dance.
Your throat burns from the alcohol as Quinn kisses you with intensity, his lower hand reaching down to grip your thigh, his fingers trailing upwards towards your heat. A moan escapes your lips, and it gets caught in Quinn's throat as continues his assault on your lips. He only pulls away when he begins to feel lightheaded, but not before his teeth latch onto your bottom lip. A whine leaves you, both from pain and the loss of contact of Quinn's lips against yours.
As you exhale heavy breaths, you lock eyes with him, his pupils dilated from a potent mix of alcohol and lust. Remnants of your dark red lipstick stain his, messily ending just above his chin. Quick to address the aftermath, you grab a napkin from the table and attempt to wipe off his mouth.
Quinn pulls you into his side, and you lean your head on his shoulder. He glances slightly to the side, noticing Tyler is gone. "Good?" he asks.
You squeeze his hand, a tipsy smile on your lips. 'Mhmm."

"I'm trying my best to keep you satisfied Let you get your rest, while I stayed up all night"
Honey tiptoed down the dimly lit hallway, her slippers brushing against hardwood as she neared her daughter's door, warm milk in hand as she rounded the corner. The soft glow from Hayden’s nightlight seeped out from under her bedroom door, casting a gentle light that barely reached the hall. She paused, her hand hovering over the door handle, listening to the faint, rhythmic breathing from inside. Finally, it seemed Hayden was asleep.
It had been a long and tiresome evening. Hayden had been restless, unable to settle down no matter what Honey tried. There were lullabies, stories, and even a glass of warm milk that now remained untouched in Honey's hands as she let out a content sigh. Nothing seemed to work and Honey could feel her patience fraying with each passing hour, but she kept her voice soothing and her movements gentle, knowing her daughter needed her calm presence more than anything else.
The woman took a deep breath and slowly opened the door, peeking around the corner to ensure Hayden was indeed asleep. Her daughter lay curled up under the covers, clutching her favourite stuffed orca, its worn material peeked out from the blanket. Honey's heart ached with a mixture of love and exhaustion at the sight, quietly rejoicing at the fact she could finally crawl back into her own bed after nearly an hour of restless crying.
She tiptoed inside, gently adjusting the blanket around Hayden’s small frame, then placed a soft kiss on her forehead. “Sweet dreams, my love,” she whispered as her fingers flattened out her messy curls before slipping out of the room.
She made her way to the master bedroom, her body feeling heavy with fatigue. The door creaked as she pushed it open, revealing the familiar silhouette of Quinn already in bed. His back was turned to her, his breathing deep and steady, indicating he was fast asleep.
Honey sighed, her shoulders slumping as she quietly closed the door behind her. She changed into one of Quinn’s old shirts and a pair of shorts, her movements slow and deliberate, the weight of the day pressing down on her as she examined her tired eyes in the mirror.
Climbing into bed, she reached out to touch Quinn, seeking comfort in his warmth, “Quinn?” she whispered, her voice barely audible as her fingers raked through his bed head. He mumbled something incoherent, rolling over to the other side, his body curling away from her touch. Honey's hand fell limply onto the mattress. The rejection, however unintentional, stung more than she expected. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she blinked rapidly, trying to hold them back.
She lay on her back, staring up at the ceiling. The room was enveloped in darkness, the only sound the gentle hum of the fan above their bed. The tears she'd been holding in began to spill over, sliding silently down her cheeks. She covered her mouth with her hand, stifling the cries that threatened to escape.
Honey's mind raced, thoughts tumbling over each other in a chaotic swirl. She felt an overwhelming sense of loneliness, despite Quinn's presence just inches away. The day’s events replayed in her mind: Hayden’s sleeplessness, the unending chores, hockey filling every aspect of her life, and the constant demands of motherhood. And now this—the coldness of the night, the silence between her and Quinn.
She turned her head to look at him, his form just a dark outline against the cream-coloured sheets, his face turned away from her so she couldn't admire the man she loved the most. She remembered the early days of their marriage, when they couldn't wait to be close to each other, when even a goodnight kiss felt like a cherished ritual. Now, it seemed like a distant memory, replaced by exhaustion.

"And you don't wanna know how alone I've been Let you come and go, whatever I state I'm in"
Honey sat in the stands, the metal was cold and unforgiving beneath her legging-covered legs, stinging her skin as she listened to the sounds of sticks on ice and skates cutting the ice. She adjusted her position, tucking a blanket around her legs for warmth, and glanced at her watch for what felt like the hundredth time.
Where was Quinn?
Warren’s hockey game was well underway, it was the biggest game of the year, the tryouts for the BC Junior Canucks team for the Brick Tournament Invitational. The players glided across the ice with practiced precision, the sound of hockey echoing through the arena as they all worked to get a spot of the team for one of the biggest tournaments for the children of Vancouver.
She could see Hayden a few rows down, playing among the other kids, their faces lit with excitement as they rang the tiny cowbells in their hands and cheered on their siblings, friends, and family members on the ice. Honey smiled despite herself, the sight of her daughter’s joy lighting her mood as Hayd looked over to her and grinned as she sent her mom an excited wave. She turned her attention back to the ice, cheering loudly as Warren made a skillful pass to a teammate.
The other moms were gathered in clusters around her, chatting and laughing, their voices a backdrop to the action on the ice. Honey tried to engage, nodding and smiling at the appropriate moments, but she had trouble meshing with the other women within the room, and besides her mind was elsewhere.
Quinn had promised to be here. He’d assured her he’d make it this time, that he wouldn’t let Warren down again, or make her create excuses for his absences.
As if on cue, she heard a familiar buzz ripple through the stands. Turning, she saw Quinn making his way down the aisle, offering sheepish smiles and waves to the guardians who greeted him warmly.
He was almost an hour late, but his arrival was met with an outpouring of praise.
Typical
“There he is!” one of the Dads exclaimed, clapping Quinn on the back as he made his way to his wife. “He's so supportive my god” a mother mumbled to another, "and so handsome."
Honey’s heart clenched, she watched as Quinn accepted the adoration, his face flushed from the cold or perhaps embarrassment. He caught her eye and gave her a small, apologetic smile before making his way over to her. She forced herself to smile back, though it felt like a big lie.
“Hey, sorry I’m late, Tocch was relentless today,” he said, sliding onto the bench next to her, his arm wrapping around her as he pulled her into his side, ruining the perfectly tucked blanket under her legs to be pressed up against him. “It’s okay,” Honey replied, her voice softer than she intended. “Warren’s been playing really well.” Quinn nodded, his attention shifting to the game. Honey could feel the eyes of the other moms on them, their whispered comments just loud enough to be heard.
“He’s such a good dad,” one woman said. “He must be so busy with work, but he always makes time for his family,” another chimed in.
Honey bit her lip, feeling the sting of their words. She wanted to confront them, let them in on the fact that it wasn’t the whole truth, that she was the one who shouldered most of the burdens at home, the one who stayed up late with Hayden, the one who made sure Warren got to his practices on time. But she stayed silent, the weight of her unspoken frustrations pressing down on her as she leaned into her husband's side, cheek pressed up against her shoulder as they watched their son as his hand held hers in his lap.
The game continued, and Quinn joined in the cheers and shouts, his enthusiasm contagious. Honey watched him, a mixture of love and resentment swirling in her chest. He had this effortless way of charming everyone, of making his rare appearances seem like grand gestures of devotion.
Meanwhile, her constant presence and her relentless efforts went unnoticed by all.
As the final buzzer sounded, Warren’s team erupted in cheers. They had won, and the stands were a flurry of excitement as the boys piled on top of each other, slipping all over the ice as they screamed with excitement. Warren skated over to the boards, his face flushed with pride as he slammed into the glass ingront of his family, Honey couldn’t help but smile at him.
Warren beamed at the sight of his dad, his eyes bright as he looked up at his parents, “did you see my goal?” he looked at his father with excited eyes as Quinn nodded. “You did awesome bud!” Quinn replied, completely ignoring Warren's question as he motioned for his son to go and join the rest of the team in the locker room Honey stood, gathering her things. “Come on, Hayden, let’s go get your brother,” she called, her voice steady as Hayd separated from her friends and ran over to her parents, jumping into Quinn's arms as they headed in the direction of the locker room.
They made their way down to the locker room, joining the crowd of parents and children waiting for the swarm of sweaty lost game kids. Honey hugged Warren tightly, her heart swelling with pride. She glanced at Quinn, who was chatting animatedly with the other dads and felt a pang of loneliness.
As they walked to the car, Warren and Hayden chattering excitedly about the game, Honey felt Quinn’s arm slip around her shoulders. She looked up at him, his face softened with a rare tenderness that she hadn't seen in a while. “I’m really sorry I was late,” he said quietly. “I’ll do better, I promise.” Honey nodded, swallowing the lump in her throat, “I know you will,” she whispered.
Honey allowed herself to hope that maybe, just maybe, things would get better.

"Man, am I the greatest? My congratulations. All my love and patience, all my admiration. All the times I waited for you to want me naked. Made it all look painless (painless), man, am I the greatest?"
Bedtime was Honey’s favourite time of the day.
She helped Hayden into her pyjamas and listened to the recounting of her playdate with her best friend Paige. After a few bedtime stories and a goodnight kiss, Hayden finally drifted off to sleep, the woman tucked the blankets around her daughter, smoothing the hair from her forehead before turning on her pink butterfly nightlight and off the big light.
In Warren’s room, Quinn was already saying goodnight. Honey joined them, pressing a kiss to Warren's temple and sat quietly as Quinn finished up his bedtime story. She lingered in the doorway, watching as Quinn gave their son a goodnight kiss and ruffled his hair.
“Love you,” Quinn said, his voice warm. “Night, Mom. Night, Dad,” Warren said, his eyes heavy with sleep. “Goodnight baby,” Honey replied softly.
They walked down the hallway together, and the house finally quieted. Honey’s heart beat faster as they approached the door to their bedroom. She longed for Quinn’s touch, for the intimacy that had become so rare. She needed to feel loved, to bridge the distance that seemed to grow wider each day.
As they entered their bedroom, Quinn went straight to their bathroom, starting his usual nighttime routine. Honey changed into a soft nightgown, choosing one she knew he liked, she looked at herself for a second, nitpicking her appearance and trying to shake the ugly feeling that had been brewing in her chest. She sat on the edge of the bed, nervously waiting for him to return.
When Quinn finally came out, face washed and changed he looked tired. He crossed the room and climbed into bed, pulling the covers up and lying back with a sigh. Honey took a deep breath and moved closer to him, reaching out to touch his arm.
“Quinn,” she whispered, her voice trembling slightly, embarrassed at the words about to leave her mouth, “can we... It’s been a while, and I miss you.” He turned his head to look at her, his eyes dull with exhaustion. “Honey, I’m really tired. It’s been a long day,” he mumbled, shifting slightly to put more distance between them as he pulled the comforter up to his chest.
“But,” she said, her voice cracking, “I just- I thought maybe- I miss being close to you.” Quinn sighed heavily, his frustration evident. “I know, Honey, but not tonight, okay? I just don’t have the energy.”
Honey’s heart sank.
She withdrew her hand, feeling the sting of rejection deep in her chest. She turned onto her back, staring up at the ceiling, her eyes filling with tears. She felt Quinn shift beside her, but he didn’t reach out, didn’t try to comfort her.
The silence between them was deafening.
She bit her lip, the darkness of the room seemed to press in on her, amplifying her loneliness, the coldness that occupied the space between them. She felt a profound sense of isolation, even with Quinn lying just inches away. She turned her head to look at Quinn, hoping for some sign that he still cared, that he still wanted her, not even intimately, just in general. But he lay still, his back turned, lost in his own world of exhaustion and detachment.
Honey closed her eyes, the ache in her chest growing unbearable. The rejection was too fresh, the pain too much as she silent tears soaking into the pillow. Reminiscing of a time when Quinn would look at her the way he once did, with love and desire in his eyes.

"Doing what's right without a reward And we don't have to fight, when it's not worth fighting for (fighting for)"
The sun had set and tensions remained high between Quinn and Honey, the couple was now en route to the yearly Canucks for Kids charity ball.
The silence in the car was thick and uncomfortable, both of them lost in their own thoughts. Honey stared out the window, watching the street lights beginning to turn on as they sped down the highway, her fingers nervously twisting the fabric of her dress. Quinn’s grip on the steering wheel was tight, his jaw clenched as he tried to ignore the fraying ends of a very happy relationship.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this, Honey thought, her mind drifting to the previous night’s rejection and the growing abyss between them. She had hoped that tonight’s event might provide a chance to rekindle the growing disconnect, to be with the people closest to him and enjoy each other, but now, it felt like just another obligation, another performance.
“Can we talk about last night?” Honey finally asked, breaking the silence. Quinn sighed, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. “Honey, I’m really not in the mood for this right now. We have to be at this event in fifteen minutes, can’t we just focus on that?” “No, Quinn. We can’t keep ignoring this,” Honey insisted, her voice rising slightly. “We’re falling apart, and you don’t seem to care. I’m trying to reach out to you, but you keep pushing me away.”
“I do care, Honey, but I’m exhausted,” Quinn replied, frustration creeping into his tone, “I have a lot on my plate right now, with the team and home, and I can’t deal with everything at once.” “And I’m not exhausted? I’m not dealing with a lot?” Honey shot back, her anger roaring at his constant invalidation of her issues, “It’s not just about you, Quinn. We’re both in this, and we both need to make an effort.”
Quinn glanced at her, his expression a mix of weariness and annoyance, his grip on the wheel slightly tightening as he turned back to look at the road. “I know you’re tired too, but right now we need to get through this evening. Can we please just put on a smile and get through it, we can argue more later tonight if that's what you wanna do.” Honey swallowed hard, feeling the sting of his words, “Fine,” she said quietly, turning back to the window.
“Let’s just get through it.”
They pulled up to the venue, the grand entrance lit with lights and green and blue balloons creating a walkway for attendees. The valet took the car, and Quinn and Honey stepped out, their faces immediately transforming into practiced smiles. Honey looped her arm through Quinn’s, her grip tighter than necessary as he looked at her pointedly.
As they walked into the lavishly decorated ballroom, they were greeted with warm smiles and enthusiastic welcomes. Quinn’s colleagues and their spouses mingled, laughter and chatter filling the air. Honey plastered a bright smile on her face, the mask of contentment slipping into place.
“Honey, Captain Hughes! So glad you could make it!” one of the Canucks investors called out jokingly throwing the nickname to grab their attention, shaking Quinn’s hand and giving Honey a polite kiss on the cheek, “You both look wonderful.” “Thank you,” Honey replied, her voice sweet and soft, “they outdid themselves again this year” “Don't be modest Hun," Quinn said sincerely, "She's on the board, she helped with the planning." “Well then thank you for your hard work against this year!”
They made their way through the crowd, exchanging pleasantries and making small talk. Honey’s smile never wavered, even as her heart ached with the unresolved tension between her and Quinn. She watched him interact effortlessly, his charm and charisma on full display.
To everyone else, they were the perfect couple, a united front.
As the evening progressed, Honey found herself at the edge of the dance floor, watching couples sway to the music. She glanced over at Quinn, who was deep in conversation with a group of donors. He caught her eye and gave her a small, awkward smile, she could see his anticipation to get away from the networking and back at her side.
It was like a short moment of the old Quinn, awkward, in love with her, she missed it.
Taking a deep breath, Honey walked over to him, her steps deliberate and aching to save him and have her close once again. “Sorry guys, you wouldn't mind if I stole my husband for a dance would you?” she asked, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside her. He hesitated for a moment before nodding and excusing him. “Happy wife, Happy life,” he joked, excusing himself from the conversation and taking her hand.
They moved onto the dance floor, the music enveloping them. Quinn placed a hand on Honey’s waist, and she rested hers on his shoulder. They swayed to the rhythm, their movements stiff and mechanical at first. Gradually, the music loosened the tension.
“I’m sorry,” Honey whispered, her voice barely audible over the melody, “I don’t want to fight. I just want us to be okay.” “I know,” Quinn replied, his tone softer now as her cheek pressed against his shoulder as she melted into him slightly, “I’m sorry too. We’ll figure this out, Honey. We have to.”

"And you don't wanna know what I would've done Anything at all, worse than anyone"
The warming morning sun filtered through the kitchen window, casting a warm glow over the room. Honey poured herself a cup of coffee, savouring the brief moment of calm before the day’s chaos began.
Quinn’s mother, Ellen, had come for a short visit, and Honey was grateful for the company during this long stretch of away games.
Ellen entered the kitchen, her blonde hair neatly pulled back into a clip, a gentle smile on her face as she looked to her daughter in law through the glasses on the bridge of her nose.
“Morning, Honey. How did you sleep?” “Morning, it wasn't too bad,” Honey replied, though the truth was she had barely slept, she gestured to the coffee pot, “Can I get you a cup?” “Please,” Ellen said, taking a seat at the kitchen table across from where Honey's book lay open face down on the table.
Honey poured a second cup and handed it to her mother-in-law before sitting down across from her. They sipped their coffee in comfortable silence for a few moments, the only sounds that occupied the air were the birds chirping outside and the distant buzz of people getting in their cars and heading to work.
“How are things, Hun?” Ellen asked, her eyes soft with concern, “you look tired.” Honey sighed, setting her cup down. “It’s been... well it's been challenging lately,” she admitted, “Quinn and I are struggling a bit and the kid's lives are starting to get busier. We’re both so occupied and exhausted, and it's been a lot.”
Ellen reached across the table, placing a comforting hand over Honey’s, “Marriage isn’t always easy, especially when life gets demanding.” “I just don’t know what to do anymore,” Honey said, her voice trembling, “I try to reach out to him, but he’s always so tired or preoccupied. And when I bring it up, we end up arguing,” the tears started as she quickly wiped them away and stared at her coffee cup.
“I just feel so lonely,” she admitted, a little weight lifting off of her chest as her free hand drummed on the table.
Ellen nodded, her expression thoughtful, “I can see how much you’re hurting. Clearly, you love Quinn and want to make things work.” “I do,” Honey said, tears welling up in her eyes, “I just don’t know how to get through to him.”
It felt weird admitting all of this to her husband's mother, but Ellen always listened, always advised, and she knew how to make things better.
Ellen squeezed her hand gently, “Quinn’s always been the type to shoulder burdens silently, thinking he’s protecting those he loves, you need to confront that Hun, he needs to know he's hurting you.”
If there was one thing Ellen felt deeply about it was accountability, and that belief did not fall blindly in her sons.
Honey wiped a tear from her cheek. “So, what do I do?” “Sometimes, it helps to approach these conversations when the tension is lower.” Honey nodded, “It’s hard to find a good moment with him lately,” she dryly laughed, such a bizarre thought to infer that Quinn was difficult when he had always been nothing less than perfect for the entirety of their marriage up until this point.
Ellen smiled kindly, “he’ll listen Hun, you just have to be honest with him and not hold back that you're hurting.
The older woman leaned back in her chair, her gaze distant for a moment. “You know, Honey, when Jim and I were your age, we went through something similar. There were times we barely spoke, he had coaching, and I had the boys and worked on top of it. It took a lot of patience, and we both had to learn to communicate better.” Honey looked at Ellen with a newfound level of respect, something so eye-opening about the vulnerability that occupied the space between them.
“How did you get through it?” “By remembering why we fell in love in the first place,” Ellen said softly, “We made an effort to fix it, we moved around so I wouldn't be the primary caregiver while he was off coaching, we started to make quality time a priority, and we sought help when we needed it. There’s no shame in asking for guidance, whether from a counsellor or someone else.”
Honey nodded, feeling a glimmer of hope. “Thank you, Ellen. I really needed to hear that.” Ellen smiled warmly. “You and Quinn have a strong relationship. Sometimes, it just takes a bit of work to clear away the aggravation and find the connection again.”

"Man, am I the greatest? My congratulations. All my love and patience, all my admiration. All the times I waited for you to want me naked. Made it all look painless (painless), man, am I the greatest?"
Honey sat at the kitchen table, the house eerily quiet with Quinn away on a road trip. The kids were asleep, and the only sound was the ticking of the wall clock and the microwave that was reheating the dinner that she hadn't had the chance to eat until everything settled for the night.
She stared at her phone, the screen glowing softly in the dim light. She had been debating whether to call Quinn, wanting to bridge the gap between them, but fearing another argument. Taking a deep breath, she dialled his number.
It rang a few times before he answered, his voice crackling through the line. “Hey, Hun,” Quinn said, sounding tired but happy to hear from her. “How are things at home?”
“Hi, love,” Honey replied, her voice heavy with fatigue as she finally took a deep breath at the sound of his voice, “I just wanted to talk. I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed this trip.”
She could hear the concern in his voice, “I know, Honey. I’ve been thinking about you and the kids a lot. How’s Hayden? And Warren?” “They’re good,” Honey said, managing a small smile despite her exhaustion, “Hayden had trouble sleeping again last night, and Warren’s been busy with his big science project. It’s just... a lot to handle on my own.” Quinn sighed, “I wish I could be there to help more. I know it’s hard.”
“It’s not just about the help anymore Quinn. I miss you. I miss us.”
There was a pause on the other end, and Honey could almost hear him thinking, “Have you ever thought of quitting your job to have more time for them?” Honey’s grip tightened on the phone, her breath catching in her throat at such a stupid question on his end, “What did you just say?”
“I mean,” Quinn continued, seemingly oblivious to the storm brewing on the other end, “if you weren’t so stressed with work, maybe things would be easier at home. You could focus on the kids more, and we wouldn’t be so—” “Are you being serious?” Honey interrupted, her voice rising with anger. "I just—"
“You think quitting my job is the solution? You think I should just give up my career, something I’ve worked so hard for, just to make things easier for you?” “That’s not what I meant, Honey,” Quinn said, his tone defensive, “I just thought it might help—” “Help who? You?” Honey’s voice shook with rage and hurt.
“You’re away playing hockey, doing what you love, and you think I should just abandon my dreams and ambitions to pick up the slack? I’ve supported you every step of the way, and now you want me to sacrifice my career for you?”
“Honey, please,” Quinn pleaded. “I didn’t mean it like that.” But it was too late. The words had already cut deep, and Honey felt a surge of betrayal
“You have no idea what it’s like to balance everything, to be there for the kids, to manage the house, and still try to hold onto a piece of myself, don't even get me started on the way you have torn apart our marriage with your 'tired because of the team' bullshit. You don’t get to tell me to give up my job.” “Honey, let’s not fight—” Quinn started, but Honey couldn’t listen anymore. “Goodbye, Quinn,” she said, her voice icy. She hung up the phone, her hands trembling with anger and frustration.
She sat there for a moment, staring at the phone, the weight of the conversation pressing down on her. Tears blurred her vision as she thought about all the sacrifices she had already made, the nights spent alone, and the unending juggling act of her responsibilities.
The silence of the house felt oppressive, and for the first time, she wondered how they would get through this. The gap between them seemed wider than ever, and she wasn’t sure how to bridge it.
★★★★
"The greatest"
Honey stared at her phone as it buzzed on the kitchen counter, Quinn’s name lighting up the screen. She let it ring, her heart heavy with the weight of their last conversation. She couldn’t bring herself to answer, not yet. The anger and hurt were still too fresh, the sting of his words too sharp.
Days passed, and Honey continued to ignore Quinn’s calls, burying herself in her work and the kids’ activities, sending short texts with breakdowns of the kid's days, and a few pictures, but not an ounce of love or forgiveness settling in the words. She knew she couldn’t avoid him forever, but she needed time to process, to find a way to articulate her feelings without exploding.
One evening, as she was putting Hayden to bed, she heard the front door open. Quinn was home.
“Mommy, is Daddy back?” Hayden asked, her eyes wide with excitement. Honey forced a smile. “Yes, baby, Daddy’s home," she tucked Hayden in, and kissed her goodnight, "he'll see you in the morning when you wake up okay?” she promised and headed downstairs, her stomach in knots.
Quinn stood in the living room, looking exhausted and worried, his eyes met hers, and she could see the desperation in them. “Honey,” he began, stepping towards her. “please, we need to talk,” his voice trembling, slightly pathetic from the days of worrying about the fate of their marriage and family.
She folded her arms, keeping her distance, “What is there to talk about, Quinn? You made it pretty clear how you feel.” Quinn ran a hand through his hair, frustration and regret etched on his face, “that’s not fair. I didn’t mean it the way it came out."
"I just want to find a way to make things easier for both of us.” Honey shook her head, her anger simmering just about to reach boiling point, “you think the solution is for me to give up my job, my dreams? Do you have any idea how insulting that is? I'm a great wife and a great mother, and you treat me so less than."
"I loved you, and I still do"
“I know, I know,” Quinn said, his voice pleading, “I was wrong. I didn’t think it through. But please, we can’t keep doing this. We need to figure it out together.”
She looked at him, the pain of their disconnect weighing heavily on her, “do you even think I’m attractive anymore, Quinn?” His eyes widened in shock. “What? Of course I do, why would you even ask that?” Honey’s voice wavered, her vulnerability laid bare, “Because you never touch me, you never look at me the way you used to. I feel invisible to you, I feel ugly.” Quinn took a step closer, his expression softening as he reached out to her but she moved away from his grasp, “Honey, you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever known. I’ve been so caught up in everything else, I’ve forgotten to show you that. But I do, I really do find you attractive. I love you.”
Tears welled up in Honey’s eyes, the words she had longed to hear both comforting and painful, “then why do I feel so alone? Quinn, we could be in the same room, the same bed even, and yet it feels like you're not even in the room.” “I loved you, Quinn. I still do,” she whispered, her voice choked with emotion. “I just want to feel like you love me back."
"Just wanted passion from you, just wanted what I gave you"
Quinn's hand finally found hers, his eyes pleading as she squeezed his hand and collapsed into his chest, “I know, Honey. I’ve been so wrapped up in everything else that I forgot about us. I’m sorry. I need you to know that I love you more than anything.” “I want to believe you, Quinn,” Honey said, tears streaming down her cheeks and she pulled away from his hold and wiped her tears, “but I’m worth so much more. I need time.”
Quinn nodded, his stare not leaving her frame as she met his intensity with hers, "I want to fix this hun." Honey looked away, feeling the weight of his words. She wanted to hold onto the hope that things could get better, but it all felt a little too fresh. “Okay,” she said softly, pulling her hands away, “We’ll see.”
"I've waited and waited"
Honey lay in bed alone after Quinn opted to sleep on the couch, her thoughts fuelled by emotions and the room felt heavy with the weight of their unresolved issues.
As the hours ticked by, Honey felt a sense of longing settles in her chest, a deep ache for the old them that they had lost. She thought about all the times she had waited, waited for Quinn to come home, waited for him to notice her, waited for him to understand the depth of her love.
But tonight, as she lay there in the darkness, she realized that she couldn’t wait any longer.
★★★★
"Man, am I the greatest? God, I hate it. All my love and patience, unappreciated You said your heart was jaded, you couldn't even break it I shouldn't have to say it You could have been the greatest"
The morning after the big blow-up felt comfortable like a weight was lifted from her conscience as she made her way downstairs, the familiar sounds of the house greeted her—the soft hum of the coffee maker, the faint laughter of her children playing in the living room. She smiled at the feeling of familiarity that lay in the simplicity of their little family.
Quinn sat at the kitchen table, sipping his morning coffee, his eyes filled with a mixture of apprehension and hope as he looked up at her. “Honey, I’ve been thinking...” But before he could finish, Honey held up a hand, stopping him mid-sentence. “Quinn, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking too.”
Quinn’s brow furrowed in confusion, but Honey could see the glimmer of understanding dawning in his eyes as she continued, what looked to be tears lined his eyes and he nodded and ducked his head down.
It's really over, he thought to himself
“I realized that I’ve been waiting for something that may never come,” she said, her voice steady and resolute, “I’ve waited for you to see me, to appreciate me, to love me the way I deserve. But I can’t wait any longer.” Quinn’s expression softened, his gaze searching hers for understanding. “Honey, I dont—”
But Honey interrupted him, a smile playing at the corners of her lips. “I’ve realized that I don’t need to wait for anyone to validate my worth. I am enough, just as I am. And I deserve someone who sees that, who appreciates all that I am.” Quinn’s eyes widened in realization, a regret crossing his face as his hand reached for hers, “I know I’ve taken you for granted, and I’ve made so many mistakes, but I hope you know that I love you, more than anything. I want to make it right.”
Honey's thumb ran over his knuckles, her heart overflowing with love and forgiveness. “I know you do, Quinn, and I love you too, I need to see It though, I need to see you showing up, and I expect you to make an effort for me and for our kids.” Quinn nodded, his eyes shining with determination. “I promise, Honey, I promise to be the partner you deserve.”
Honey smiled, feeling a sense of peace settle over her. “I believe you, Quinn,” her gaze travelled over to where their kids sat on the couch, and her gaze fell back onto him, a shy smile on his face as she settled in the seat next to his, thighs pressed against each other as they feel back into the comfort of one another. He pressed a sweet kiss to her lips as his hands found the sides of her face, he pulled away first, cheeks ablaze as she grinned at his sudden shyness.
Quinn was her greatest love, and they were imperfect and flawed, but infinitely beautiful. Together, they had weathered storms and overcome obstacles, their love stronger and more resilient with each passing day. And as they sat there, surrounded by the laughter and love of their family, Honey knew that they were exactly where they were meant to be—wrapped in each other’s arms, ready to face whatever the future held, together.

Her Royal Highness, Princess Y/n of Cambridge as well as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a surprise appearance at the Vancouver Canucks game last night.
The Princess has been on quite the anticipated tour, starting in Ottawa this past spring, heading east then ending in Victoria where she'll leave for later today.
Before the game the prince and princess had dropped the puck at the ceremonial puck drop, or rather not dropped the puck as Prince Harry had to be told to.
But it wasn't the prince's embarrassing story that's making headlines today, it's the Princess of Cambridge leaving with the Canucks captain, Quinn Hughes.
Hughes is an American hockey player, a couple years younger than our princess, but nonetheless we would love this couple together.
We know King Charles is never one to come become his children and love, we can only assume the King will be even more supportive than he was with the Duchess of Sussex. Hughes has never been married and on paper would make a great fit for our outgoing and adventures princess.
-
Quinn was on FaceTime with his brothers, they were in a hotel room in Michigan just having come back from their morning skate. Luke happened to go on his phone and see articles about his brother and the princess.
"Were you ever gonna tell us your dating a princess?!"
"We're not dating. That was my first time meeting her." The oldest said, rolling his eyes slightly, though his brothers ignored his obvious annoyance and continued their questions.
"And she came home with you?!" "Damn, Quinny!"
Rubbing his hand over his face, Quinn defends himself, "Shut up. It wasn't like that. We just talked, and got to know each other."
“Yeah? ‘Got to know each other’ how?” Jack said in his usual teasing voice with a smirk on his face.
“I don’t know, just talked- she’s coming out to Seattle in a couple days and-” “Shit! No way, dude.” Luke came into frame now, sitting next to Jack on the hotel bed. Jack elbowed Luke slightly, telling the boy to give him space before he looked back at Quinn on the screen, “And how exactly did you pull this off?”
“I have no idea, she was just waiting outside the dressing room after the game and asked me out. It was a little awkward ‘cause her security guys were right there the whole time.”
“In your apartment?” “No Lukey, outside the dressing room. They were outside the apartment the whole night though.” Jack’s head shot up at this, “She stayed the night?!”
“Yeah, but nothing happened. I’m not you.” “Fuck off.” “We talked all night and we watched a couple movies.”
Jack and Luke seemed to have got, maybe not exactly what they wanted, but got out all the questions they wanted to ask out.

Quinn Hughes x Reader
a:n Here is part 2, the only thing I could think of while writing this was 'The Gold' by Phoebe Bridgers. I think it really speaks for how y/n sees the situation and her life at the moment.

Summary: He's everything she wants. He's everything she wished she had. All she wanted was him. The hot and cold game has finally reached its limit.
Word Count - 5046
The sleek, black limo glided up the long, winding driveway, its polished exterior gleaming under the warm sunlight. As it approached the magnificent mansion, Y/N couldn't help but marvel at the opulent surroundings.
The meticulously manicured lawn stretched out before her, a lush carpet of vibrant green grass that looked almost too perfect to be real.
In the center of the sprawling grounds, a grand fountain stood tall, its crystal-clear water cascading down the intricately carved stone tiers, creating a soothing symphony of gentle splashes.
As the limo came to a stop near the impressive front steps, a group of well-dressed helpers emerged from the mansion's large, ornate doors. They stood at attention, their crisp uniforms and shoes polished.
Just then, the front doors swung open, and Y/N's grandmother stepped out, a vision of elegance and grace. She was dressed in an all-white ensemble, the flowing fabric of her dress billowing gently in the breeze.
Her delicate hands were adorned with pristine white gloves, and a strand of exquisite pearls rested against her neck, catching the light and adding to her air of sophistication.
The driver swiftly exited the limo and rushed to Y/N's side, opening the door with a practiced flourish. He offered his hand, assisting Y/N and her mother out of the vehicle with the utmost care and reverence.
As they walked closer to the steps, Y/N's grandmother's face lit up with a warm, genuine smile. "Oh, darling, how I've longed to see you," she exclaimed, her voice filled with affection. "Come here, little dove."
Y/N couldn't help but feel a surge of emotion as she stepped into her grandmother's embrace. The older woman's arms wrapped around her, enveloping her in a comforting warmth that seemed to chase away all the stress and disappointment she had been carrying. It had been so long since anyone in her family had shown her such pure, unconditional love and acceptance.
Y/N breathed in the sweet, familiar scent of her grandmother's perfume, a delicate blend of chamomile and sugar.
The softness of her grandmother's gloves against her skin was a soothing contrast to the cold, impersonal interactions she was used to with her parents.
Around them, the grandeur of the mansion seemed to fade into the background, the lavish furnishings and priceless works of art becoming mere footnotes in the presence of Y/N and her grandmother.
Once they separated Y/N's grandmother cupped her face with her gloved hands, her eyes shining with pride and adoration. "Let me look at you, my dear," she said softly, taking in every detail of Y/N's appearance. "You've grown into such a beautiful young woman."
The posse entered the sun room, Y/N was struck by the sheer elegance of the space. The room was flooded with natural light, the sun's rays filtering through the large, floor-to-ceiling windows that offered a breathtaking view of the meticulously landscaped gardens beyond.
In the center of the room, a grand table was set with the finest china and silverware, each place setting arranged with precision and care. The aroma of freshly prepared delicacies filled the air, making Y/N's mouth water in anticipation.
As they took their seats, the conversation flowed easily, punctuated by laughter and the clinking of glasses. However, after a while, Cherise turned to Y/N with a knowing smile and asked her to accompany her for a walk in the garden.
Arm in arm, the two women strolled through the lush, meticulously maintained grounds. The garden was a true work of art, with winding paths that led through a maze of fragrant rose bushes, towering topiaries, and bubbling fountains.
Cherise broached the subject that had been weighing on her mind. "Tell me, dear, when will you settle down?" she asked, her voice laced with concern. "It hurts me to see you alone."
Y/N shook her head, a smile playing on her lips. "I'm not alone, grandmother," she replied, her voice soft but filled with contentment. "I am with someone. Nothing serious, but things are going smoothly now. He makes me happy."
The steady click of their heels against the pavement punctuated their words. Cherise listened intently, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Then give me a grandbaby already, if you're so happy," she teased, her laughter ringing out like a bell in the garden. Y/N couldn't help but join in, their laughter mingling with the chirping of the birds and the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze.
Y/N smiled softly as her grandmother continued, her words filled with wisdom and understanding. "I'm only joking, little dove. I would like to meet him, maybe when things get 'serious,' I guess. I want you to feel love like I have with your grandfather. You deserve that, not some beneficial marriage like your mother and father. I don't know where I went wrong with her."
Y/N nodded along, finding no reason to disagree with her grandmother's sentiment. She knew that her parents' relationship was one of convenience and status, lacking the warmth and genuine connection she craved. "I think you'd like him," she said, a hint of hope in her voice.
As they neared the house, Dedra rushed down the stairs, her face tight with impatience. "Let's go, we have to get back to work," she demanded, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Y/N stepped into her bedroom, exhaustion weighing heavily on her shoulders. She slipped out of her clothes and into a comfortable robe, the soft fabric caressing her skin. Settling down at her vanity, she began removing her makeup, the process of wiping away the day's mask a soothing ritual.
As she reached for her phone, she noticed a message from Quinn. Her heart skipped a beat as she opened the conversation, eager to connect with him after the emotionally draining day.
Y/N: I wish you were here with me. Today was intense.
Quinn: I'm sorry. Do you want to talk about it?
Y/N: It's just family stuff. They have all these expectations, and I feel like I'm constantly disappointing them.
They texted back and forth, Y/N continued getting ready, applying her makeup with practiced precision. Once she finished her base, she stood up and slipped into the red dress she had chosen for their date. The fabric hugged her curves perfectly, accentuating her figure in all the right places.
She admired her reflection in the mirror, a small smile playing on her lips as she imagined Quinn's reaction. Just then, her phone buzzed with another message.
Quinn: I'm outside.
Y/N felt a flutter of excitement mixed with nerves as she grabbed her purse and made her way to the front door. She stepped outside, the cool evening air kissing her skin as she walked towards Quinn's car.
He had his windows rolled down, a smile on his face as he watched her approach. His eyes roamed over her body appreciatively, taking in the sight of her in the stunning red dress.
"Looking good," he said, his voice smooth and filled with admiration.
Y/N felt a blush creep onto her cheeks, a mixture of pleasure and uncertainty swirling within her. “Thanks hottie.” she said as she slid into the passenger seat. She knew that her feelings for Quinn were growing stronger each day, but the fear of him not wanting her scared beyond comprehension.
Quinn pulled out of Y/N's driveway, he glanced over at her, his gaze lingering for a few seconds. The curiosity in his eyes was evident. "So where is this restaurant you were telling me about or is it some kind of surprise?" she asked, leaning over the middle console.
He smiled mysteriously, enjoying the playful anticipation that hung in the air between them. "You'll just have to wait and see," he teased. Quinn chuckled at her betrayed expression, shaking his head in amusement as he focused on the road ahead.
conversation flowed easily between them, filled with laughter and the occasional playful jab. Even though they talked about nothing of great importance, Y/N found herself thoroughly enjoying the simple pleasure of Quinn's company.
city lights flashed by the windows, painting the interior of the car with a kaleidoscope of colors. Y/N leaned back in her seat, feeling a sense of contentment wash over her.
As they continued driving, y/n’s curiosity got the better of her once more. "Come on, Y/N, give me a hint," she pleaded, eyes sparkling with amusement. "I'm dying to know where you're taking me."
Quinn laughed, the sound filled with genuine joy. "Patience, dear," he chided gently, reaching over to give her hand a reassuring squeeze. "I promise it'll be worth the wait."
Y/N felt a shiver run down her spine as Quinn's strong hands grasped her waist, his touch both thrilling and comforting. She looked up at him, her eyes meeting his, and saw a glimmer of affection and excitement reflected back at her.
"Lead the way," she said softly, a smile playing on her lips as she allowed him to guide her towards the restaurant.
As they approached the entrance, Y/N couldn't help but marvel at the grandeur of the establishment. The facade was a masterpiece of modern architecture. The name of the restaurant was emblazoned above the doors in elegant, golden script.
Quinn's arm remained securely around her waist as they stepped through the doors. The interior of the restaurant was just as breathtaking as the exterior, with plush carpets, glittering chandeliers, and rich, velvet draperies.
The hostess led them to their table, she glanced at Quinn, taking in the way his suit hugged his athletic frame and the confident, easy smile that played on his lips. When they were seated, Quinn reached across the table and took her hand in his, his fingers intertwining with hers. She squeezed his hand in return.
They perused the menu, discussing the various options and sharing bites of each other's dishes. Quinn enthusiastically shared his plans for preparing his hockey team for the upcoming season. He spoke about new training regimens, team-building exercises, and strategies he hoped to implement.
Y/N listened intently, her eyes focused on Quinn as he passionately described his goals and aspirations.
However, at one point, Quinn glanced over at Y/N, a flicker of doubt crossing his features. He wondered if she was truly interested in the intricacies of his hockey career or if he was boring her with the details. Y/N, sensing his uncertainty, quickly broke into a smile and laughed, hoping to ease his worries.
"Everything about you interests me, Quinn," she said earnestly, reaching across the table to take his hand in hers. "I could never get bored of you. Being around you makes me happy, ya know?"
The sincerity in her voice was evident, but Quinn's reaction was not what Y/N had expected. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat, his hand stiffening under her touch. An awkward silence fell between them, the air thick with tension.
Quinn cleared his throat, his eyes darting around the restaurant as if searching for an escape. "Y/N," he began, his voice strained, "I... I think we need to talk."
Y/N felt her heart sink, a knot forming in the pit of her stomach. She withdrew her hand from his, folding her arms across her chest as if to protect herself from the words she knew were coming.
"I care about you, Y/N. I really do," Quinn continued, his gaze finally settling on her face. "But I need you to understand that I'm not looking for anything too serious right now. I thought we were on the same page about that."
Y/N nodded slowly, trying to swallow the lump that had formed in her throat. She knew Quinn had been clear about his intentions from the start, but somewhere along the way, she had allowed herself to hope for more.
"I know," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable. I didn't mean to pressure you."
Quinn sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's not your fault, Y/N. I should have been more clear. I just... I don't want to hurt you."
The words hung heavy in the air between them, a reminder of the fragility of their connection. Y/N forced a smile, trying to lighten the mood.
"It's okay, Quinn. We can take things slow. I'm just happy to be here with you." Quinn returned her smile, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. The rest of the evening was spent in polite conversation, but the earlier ease and warmth between them had dissipated.
The pulsing rhythms of the music filled the crowded nightclub, the bass thumping through the floor and vibrating in Y/N's chest as she carefully navigated her way back to the booth where her friends were waiting. In her hands, she balanced a tray laden with six colorful cocktails, each one adorned with a tiny umbrella and a slice of fruit.
Y/N couldn't help but smile at the sight of her five best friends, all dressed to the nines and ready for a night of fun and laughter. She shimmied into the booth, sliding in next to Raven, her closest confidante.
"Ladies, I present to you six drinks for six beautiful women," Y/N announced, her voice rising above the din of the club. She passed out the cocktails, each one met with a chorus of excited cheers and appreciative nods.
The women wasted no time in downing their drinks, the sweet, fruity flavors masking the potent alcohol within. As they finished, they let out exaggerated gasps and howls of delight, the alcohol already beginning to work its magic and loosen their inhibitions.
Raven leaned in close to Y/N, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "So, see anyone you like?" she drawled out, her voice low and conspiratorial.
Y/N surveyed the dance floor, her gaze roving over the writhing bodies and the flashing lights. She had to admit, there were plenty of attractive men in the club tonight, their bodies moving in perfect sync with the pulsing beat.
"A few," she admitted, a sly smile playing on her lips. "But no one interesting enough to take home, that's for sure."
Raven giggled at Y/N's response, her laughter infectious and carefree. She scanned the room herself, her eyes suddenly widening as she spotted someone across the way.
"Well, I see one eyeing you up over there," she said, pointing discreetly in the direction of the bar.
Y/N followed Raven's finger, her gaze landing on a devastatingly handsome man with curly black hair and a chiseled jawline. He was leaning against the bar, his back pressed against the polished wood, and his eyes were locked on Y/N, a smoldering intensity in his gaze.
Y/N felt a flush of heat rush through her body as she met his stare, her heart skipping a beat in her chest. She raised her hand in a small wave, a coy smile playing on her lips.
But even as she flirted with the stranger across the room, Y/N couldn't shake the nagging feeling of guilt that tugged at the back of her mind. She thought of Quinn and the uncertain status of their relationship.
"I don't know, Raven," she said, her voice tinged with hesitation. "I haven't ended things with Quinn yet. It would feel wrong to pursue someone else."
A collective groan sounded from the table, as her friends all chimed in with their opinions.
"Girl, you're single. Do what you want," one said, her voice firm and encouraging.
"Quinn's not here tonight. What he doesn't know won't hurt him," another added, her tone mischievous and daring.
Y/N bit her lip, torn between her desire to let loose and have fun and her loyalty to the man she cared for.
She knew things with Quinn were complicated, that he had been distant and evasive in recent days. But still, the thought of betraying his trust, even in a moment of drunken weakness, made her stomach churn.
As she sat there, surrounded by the pulsing energy of the club and the encouraging words of her friends, Y/N knew she had a decision to make. She could play it safe, go home alone and wait for Quinn to come around. Or she could take a chance, let herself get swept up in the moment and see where the night might lead her.
With a deep breath and a final glance at the handsome stranger across the room, Y/N made her choice.
The heat of the crowded dance floor was almost unbearable as Y/N swayed to the pulsing beat, her body moving in perfect sync with the mysterious man from the bar. His hands were on her hips, his touch searing through the thin fabric of her dress and setting her skin ablaze.
The dance floor was a sea of moving bodies, gyrating and swaying to the music as the multicolored lights flashed and swirled overhead, casting a kaleidoscope of hues across the sweat-slicked skin of the dancers.
Y/N felt the heat rising from the packed bodies around her, the air thick with the scent of perfume, alcohol, and pheromones. She moved in perfect rhythm with the mysterious man from the bar, their bodies impossibly close as they lost themselves in the primal, sensual flow of the music.
His hands roamed over her curves, his touch both electrifying and possessive as he pulled her flush against his muscular frame. Y/N could feel the hard planes of his chest pressing against her back, his hips grinding against hers in a way that sent shivers of desire racing down her spine.
Clinking glasses and raucous laughter from the nearby bar mixed with the pounding bass, creating a heady cocktail of sensory overload.
Y/N felt dizzy with the rush of it all, her head spinning from the alcohol and the intoxicating presence of the man behind her. As the song reached its crescendo, he leaned in close, his hot breath tickling the sensitive skin of her neck as he mumbled something in her ear, his words almost lost in the pounding music.
Y/N turned in his hold, pressing her back against his chest and feigning ignorance. "Sorry, the music is really loud. I can't hear you," she shouted over the din, a coy smile playing on her lips.
She felt his chest rumble with laughter, the vibrations sending shivers down her spine. He tightened his grip on her arm, pulling her closer until there was no space left between them.
"I said, come home with me," he repeated, his voice low and husky, filled with unmistakable desire. Y/N's heart raced at his bold suggestion. She knew she should say no, that leaving with a stranger was a dangerous game. But the alcohol in her system and the electric chemistry between them made it hard to think straight.
She turned to face him, a playful shrug on her shoulders. "I can't leave my friends alone tonight," she said, her voice apologetic. "But how about I give you my number instead?"
The man's face hardened, a flash of annoyance crossing his features. He scoffed, as if offended by her suggestion, and shook his head in disbelief.
"Fine," he said, his tone clipped as he extended his phone towards her. "Put it in."
Y/N took the device, her fingers trembling slightly as she typed in a fake number, purposely transposing the digits. She couldn't risk giving him her real contact information, not when she was still unsure of her feelings for Quinn.
She handed the phone back and fixed him with a stern look. "Now, shut up and dance," she said, her voice firm and unyielding. The man's eyes narrowed, a flicker of anger burning in their depths. He grabbed her wrist, his grip tight and possessive.
"You think you can just tease me like that and walk away?" he growled, his face inches from hers. "I don't take kindly to being led on." Y/N's heart hammered in her chest, fear and adrenaline coursing through her veins. She tried to pull away, but his hold was too strong.
"Let go of me," she said, her voice shaking with a mix of anger and fear. "I don't owe you anything."
Around them, the other dancers continued to move, oblivious to the drama unfolding in their midst. Y/N's friends were nowhere to be seen, lost in the sea of writhing bodies and flashing lights.
The man's grip tightened, his fingers digging into her skin. "No one rejects me!”
With a sudden burst of strength, Y/N wrenched her arm free, stumbling backwards and nearly losing her balance. She turned on her heel, pushing through the crowd as she desperately searched for her friends.
Her heart was racing, her breath coming in short, panicked gasps.
Y/N stumbled out of the nightclub, her heart pounding and her head spinning from the encounter. The cool night air hit her skin, providing a momentary relief from the stifling heat of the dance floor.
She leaned against the rough brick wall, her hands shaking as she fumbled with her phone, scrolling through her contacts until she found Quinn's name.
She hesitated for a moment, her thumb hovering over the call button. Things between her and Quinn had been strained lately, and she wasn't sure if he would even answer. But as a wave of nausea washed over her, the severity of the situation hit her, and she knew she needed help.
Y/N pressed the button, holding the phone to her ear as she tried to steady her breathing. The line rang once, twice, and then a third time before Quinn's voice finally filled her ear.
"Hello?" he answered, the sound of music and laughter echoing in the background.
"Quinn," Y/N said, her voice trembling. "I... I need you."
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and for a moment, Y/N feared he would hang up on her. But then Quinn's voice returned, this time laced with concern.
"Y/N? What's wrong? Where are you?"
She took a shuddering breath, tears pricking at the corners of her eyes. "I'm at Taipei," she said, her words coming out in a rush. "I... I was dancing with this guy, and he... he tried to... I don't know, I just... I need you to come get me. Please."
There was another pause, and Y/N could hear the sound of Quinn moving, the background noise fading as he stepped away from wherever he was. "I'm on my way," he said, his voice firm and reassuring. "Stay where you are, okay? I'll be there as soon as I can."
Y/N nodded, even though she knew he couldn't see her. "Okay," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the sound of her own heartbeat.
As the call ended, Y/N slid down the wall, hugging her knees to her chest as the tears finally spilled over. She felt sick to her stomach.
"Y/N!"
She looked up, her vision blurry with tears, to see Quinn running towards her, his face etched with worry. He dropped to his knees beside her, his arms instinctively wrapping around her trembling frame.
"I'm here," he murmured, his voice soft and soothing.
Y/N clung to him, burying her face in his chest as the emotions she had been holding back finally broke free. She sobbed openly, her body shaking with the force of her tears as Quinn held her close, his hands rubbing gentle circles on her back.
Y/N's voice trembled as she spoke, her words laced with a mixture of sadness and desperation. "What have you been doing? It's been days, Quinn. Days without a single word from you."
Quinn froze, caught off guard by her sudden questioning. He stumbled over his words, trying to find the right response. "I... I've been busy, Y/N. You know how it is."
She shook her head, tears streaming down her face. "No, I don't know how it is. You don't want to talk to me? Is that what this is?" Her voice cracked, the pain in her heart spilling out into her words. "I don't want to do this with you anymore if you don't want to be with me eventually, Quinn. I can't keep going on like this."
Quinn reached out to her, his eyes pleading. "Y/N, please. Let's not do this now. We'll talk in the morning, okay? When we've both had a chance to clear our mind, and we’re home in bed."
But Y/N couldn't hold back the flood of emotions any longer. She looked at him, her eyes searching his face for any sign of the affection she so desperately craved. "Do you feel anything for me, Quinn? Even just a little?"
He sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "Of course I do Y/N..."
"Please," she begged, her voice barely above a whisper. "Just be honest with me then. Am I not good enough? Is that why you've been pulling away?"
Quinn's heart ached at the sight of her pain, but he couldn't find the words to comfort her. He knew that his own doubts and fears had been holding him back, preventing him from fully committing to their relationship.
"It's not that, Y/N. It's just... complicated."
She let out a bitter laugh, the sound cutting through the cool night air. "Complicated. Right. That's what it always is with you, isn't it?"
Y/N wrapped her arms around herself, suddenly feeling incredibly small and vulnerable. She looked up at the sky, the stars blurring together through her tears. "I can't keep doing this, Quinn. I can't keep going on dates and sleeping with you, only to be pushed away. It hurts too much."
Quinn's voice wavered as he spoke, his words laced with a deep, aching sadness. "Y/N, please just let me explain at a better time."
But Y/N couldn't hold back the flood of emotions that threatened to consume her. She looked at him, her eyes shimmering with tears that refused to fall.
"If I could go back to the night we met, I would never have agreed to this," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the pounding of her own heart. "You make me feel so loved and like you care about me, then you ignore me when I say anything that sounds like I care about you."
The night seemed to grow colder around them, the stars fading into the inky blackness of the sky.
Quinn took a step towards her, his hand outstretched. "I don't mean to hurt you. At all," he said, his voice cracking with emotion.
"What I want is complicated, Y/N. You're so good to me. If I allowed myself to ruin it, I would never forgive myself." Quinn felt his own heart constrict, the depth of her pain hitting him like a physical blow.
Y/N shook her head, a single tear finally escaping and rolling down her cheek. "But don't you see? You're already ruining it. By pushing me away, by refusing to let yourself feel what I know is there."
He wanted so badly to take her in his arms, to promise her that everything would be okay. But he knew that he couldn't make that promise, not when he was still so unsure of his own heart.
Y/N's shoulders shook with silent sobs, her arms wrapped tightly around herself as if to hold the pieces of her shattered heart together. "I don't need you to be perfect, Quinn. I just need you to be honest with me. To stop running away from what we both know is true."
She turned to walk away, Quinn reached out and grabbed her hand. With a gentle tug, he pulled her into his chest, his arms instinctively wrapping around her trembling frame. Y/N's breath caught in her throat as Quinn's lips brushed against her forehead.
Quinn inhaled deeply, breathing in the familiar scent of her hair, the warmth of her body against his own. Before Y/N had a chance to protest, to pull away from his embrace, Quinn gently guided her towards his car.
He opened the passenger side door, his hand resting on the small of her back as he helped her inside. With a tender touch, he reached over and clipped her seatbelt, his fingers lingering on the soft skin of her neck for just a moment longer than necessary.
As Quinn slid into the driver's seat, he could feel the weight of Y/N's gaze on him but he couldn't find the words to reassure her, couldn't find the courage to voice the depths of his own feelings.
Instead, he put the car in drive, the engine humming to life as they pulled away from the curb. Y/N turned her head towards the window, her eyes fixed on the expanse of the city that stretched out before them. Tears slipped silently down her cheeks, the glittering lights of the skyline blurring together through her watery vision.
The drive was silent, the only sound the steady thrum of the engine and the distant wail of sirens in the night. Quinn's hands gripped the steering wheel, his knuckles white with tension as he navigated the familiar streets that led to Y/N's home.
The sight of her own front door, the promise of solitude and comfort, was a balm to her aching heart. Quinn cut the engine, the sudden silence deafening in the confines of the car.
He moved quickly, exiting the driver's side and rounding the front of the car to open Y/N's door. She stumbled slightly as she stepped out, her legs unsteady beneath her. Quinn's hand found the small of her back once more, his touch a gentle guide as they walked together towards her front door.
With a sense of déjà vu, Quinn reached into his pocket and pulled out the spare key Y/N had given him months ago, he slid the key into the lock, the click of the tumblers echoing loudly in the stillness of the night.
As the door swung open, Y/N stepped inside, the familiar scent of home enveloping her like a warm embrace. She turned to face Quinn, her eyes searching his face for any sign of the love and affection she so desperately craved.
But his expression was unreadable, his own emotions carefully guarded behind a mask of stoic resolve.

evie having a nightmare and quinn is staying over so she goes to her moms room and instead of waking reader, she wakes quinn and asks him to ‘protect her’ and sleep in her bed with her and when reader wakes up and quinn isn’t beside her she’s confused but when she checks on evie they are both fast asleep cuddling :(
NIGHTMARE — family is family au
Tumblr media
Quinn was always a light sleeper, so when he heard the rapid slapping of bare feet against the wooden flooring of your apartment and a soft prod to his shoulder, he was immediately awake.
He rolled over towards the touch, looking towards the culprit, whose face was flushed and whose bottom lip trembled. The clock on his beside table blinked 3:54 am, illuminating Evie’s shaken figure.
“Evie, are you okay?” Quinn’s mumbled voice whispered, careful so as not to wake you. “What’s wrong?”
Evie crumpled upon hearing his familiar voice and clasped onto his hand, tears tumbling down her cheeks. “Can I sleep with you and Mom tonight?” Her meek voice pleaded, cracking under the weight of her sadness.
Quinn’s heart practically shattered at her broken expression and he found his hand squeezing hers tightly, shifting slightly to lift her up on the bed. Evie moved quickly, her body manoeuvring between your sleeping figure and him, her body angled toward him.
Quinn could feel her body trembling from beside him, his arm moving around her shoulders allowing her to nestle closer to him as she wrapped herself around his torso, clutching his T-shirt in her hands.
His hand smoothed over her back soothingly, as she sniffled, and leaned into his warming and comforting touch.
“Winnie?” Evie eventually whispered, her small voice timid in the quiet of the room.
“Mhm,” Quinn hummed, the tiredness sweeping over him as he pushed himself to stay awake for his girl.
“Can you protect me from the bad dreams?” She yawned, her head shifting to lean against Quinn’s chest. Quinn felt his grip naturally tighten around Evie, holding her impossibly closer as her words lingered.
“I’ll always protect you, Bug,” Quinn murmured, pressing a gentle kiss to the crown of her head as he tried to lull her to sleep. Evie hummed in contentment, burrowing into Quinn’s hold before the exhaustion swept over the pair, pulling them into sleep.
You’d woken up the next morning, confused as to why you were half off of the bed. You’d pushed yourself up onto your elbows and when you’d glanced towards Quinn, your features softened.
Quinn was sleeping soundly with Evie wrapped around him, their hands connected as his outstretched arm engulfed your little girl in a tight yet delicate hold. They looked at peace, their blissful expressions laced across their faces as they cuddled up beneath the white sheet.
With a soft smile, you took a quick photo of the two, capturing the memory you knew Quinn would love.

puck bunny | quinn hughes
Tumblr media
summary: you have the perfect halloween costume and Quinn seems to agree
warnings: sexual references
a/n: just a silly little blurb based on the costume I wore this year 😂
enjoy!
xoxo nina
“What the hell are you wearing?”
You grinned as you turned around and took in Quinn’s confused look. He was wearing the other half of your planned couples costume, sporting a pair of overalls and a red cap atop his wayward curls.
“My costume?” You feigned confusion as Quinn stepped toward you.
“That’s not the costume you said you were wearing,” Quinn’s fingers hooked on the bottom of the jersey you wore. “This is… What the fuck are you?”
You giggled as you looked up at Quinn with a mischievous grin, “I’m a puck bunny, duh.”
“A- Oh my god,” Quinn groaned as he smirked at you. “You think you’re so funny, huh?”
You toyed with the hem of Quinn’s jersey that you’d paired with black fishnets, a garter belt, and black bunny ears.
“I can change if you want?”
“Don’t you fucking dare,” Quinn grinned as he stepped toward you. “But I think we might be late for the party…”
“And why’s that?” you chuckled as his hands came to your waist, sliding up the jersey to reveal your lacy panties.
“Because I have a new affinity for puck bunnies,” Quinn groaned against your neck as his lips nipped at the skin there. “I love when you wear my name.”
“Never thought I’d be seduced by someone dressed as Mario,” you giggled as Quinn’s hands ran further up your body. “I guess there’s first time for everything.”

Quinn Hughes - meet cute
Tumblr media
pairing: quinn hughes x reader
requested: yes / no
a/n: it’s super late but I hope you like it anyways! requests are open & here is the link for my writing guide
word count: 750 words
You’ll admit, it isn’t exactly your most dignified moment, sitting on the dirty floor with your arm stuck in the vending machine but you were sure you’d be able to reach the bag of chips if you just reached in. Instead, you look like an idiot who didn’t think before you did it. It’s late and you know most people have left the roller skating rink at this point, including your friends who you brushed off when they offered to come with you while you grabbed a snack before you left.
So, you’re sitting on the floor waiting for someone to walk by because your phone died before you could call anyone. It’s been over twenty minutes and your arm is starting to feel a bit numb when you hear someone. You stretch as far as you can to see who it is, hopefully security or maintenance, but it’s a group of guys. They look familiar and you can’t quite put your finger on it but it’s the last thing on your mind at this point because you can’t feel your fingertips.
They’re laughing about something and clearly haven’t noticed you yet which is why one of them nearly trips over you. He catches himself from falling and looks down at you in surprise.
“Oh shit,” he says with wide eyes. “Are you okay?”
You gesture to your trapped arm. “No.”
Normally, you’d feel bad for being so short with someone but you were hoping for someone who could help you with your current situation and these three don’t look like they’ll be very helpful.
“How’d you get your arm stuck in there?” One of them asks curiously, kneeling down next to you and peering inside where your arm is.
You can feel your cheeks heating up and embarrassment takes over. They’re all cute, but the one kneeling next to you catches your eye.
“I was trying to reach the chips when they got stuck,” you mumble and he presses his lips together like he’s trying not to smile. He clears his throat when you scowl at him, and he looks back at your arm.
“I think we can get it out,” he murmurs, reaching his hand in and gripping your arm. He gently twists your wrist and pulls on your arm and it comes out easily.
You shake your arm until feeling starts to return before looking at him. He’s still kneeling next to you and watching for your reaction.
“Thanks,” you eventually say, standing up and he quickly scrambles to his feet.
“I’m Quinn,” he says and offers his hand. You shake it and tell him your name before looking at the two other guys standing behind him. He must notice your attention is elsewhere because he glances at them. “That’s Jack and Luke.”
It suddenly clicks why they look so familiar.
The Hughes brothers.
“Um, I was gonna grab something to eat at the diner across the road, if you wanted to come with,” he says and Luke mumbles, “you were?”
You don’t miss Jack stepping on Luke’s foot, and you cough to cover a laugh.
“Sure,” you tell him and his face lights up.
“Awesome,” he says, trying to play it cool but his brothers are grinning at him like fools.
“Catch you back at the apartment Quinn,” Jack says, already walking away and pulling Luke with him.
You can hear Luke mumbling, “I didn’t know he was going out. He didn’t even ask us.”
. . .
It’s a 24 hour diner and your phone is dead so you don’t realize how fast the time is going until Quinn looks at his phone and swears under his breath.
“I’ve got practice at 8,” he says and shows you the time.
2:38am
Then he pauses, and looks at you.
“I’m a hockey player,” he explains and you realize that he doesn’t think that you know who he is.
“I know,” you tell him and he pauses again before: “you should come to a game sometime. I mean, y’know if you want to. No pressure. Since we just met.”
And as endearing as his rambling is, you decide to put him out of his misery.
“I’d like that,” you tell him. “Just send me the time and place.”
. . .
He ended up scoring 3 goals and 2 assists that game. When he points to you after his third goal, and he mouths “that one was for you”, you can’t help but think that maybe, just maybe this can go somewhere.

“Where are you going?”
Quinn’s voice stopped you from opening the front door. You turn around giving a sharp look at the man before you speak.
“I'm going out with friends” You simply stated
“Seriously” You rolled your eyes mad that Quinn wanted to start this argument again. The team's new medical assistant has been all over Quinn lately. One night when he was hit in the nose with a puck, you went down to the medical office since they announced he wasn't going to be returning to the game.
But when you went down to the medical office you saw the new assistant talking to Quinn. You don't have a problem with her till you saw where her hand was. You couldn't figure out why she had her hand on your boyfriend's thigh when the problem was his nose.
“Quinn my friend invited me out to a bar ok, so i'm going because i'd rather be out with them then be here arguing with you” you stated
“We don't have to argue it's not a big deal” he shrugged
Now what Quinn said made you fume
“Not a big deal” You repeated “Its a big deal that someone my boyfriend works with is fucking handsy”
“She’s not handsy y/n don't overreacted” He argued “She like that with everyone”
You were so hurt that Quinn couldn't see what you saw, if it was the other way around he’d be fuming. The fact he was sticking up for her when she wasn't even around made you so angry.
“I know for a fucking fact she not like that with everyone” You yelled takening a step forward “Because Ive asked Brock, because ive ask Petty and they all agree that she’s only like that with you!”
There a was beat of silence before Quinn spoke again and when he did, he spoke to calming for your liking
“You asked my teammates”
Your face heated up with embarrassment, you looked away ashamed that you even asked his teammates.
“God your so fucking Insecure” You heard Quinn mutter to himself, as he ran his hand threw his hair.
You stood there awkwardly not knowing what to say and clearly Quinn was done with this argument.
“Fine Quinn you win, i'm going out” You muttered leave out the front door.
You thought going out with your friends would help you but as soon as you arrived with your friends it seemed like all they wanted to do was talk to some men at the bar. You and Quinn had sure gotten into a fight but you'd never cheat on him.
You were left all alone at the bar just scrolling through your phone with more alcohol in your system than you could handle.
Then someone sat down beside you. You looked up and saw a man sitting beside you, you gave him a smile of Acknowledgement but that was your first mistake.
“Sooo you here by yourself” he asked
You cringed at his basic line “No i'm here with some friends” you simply stated
“And these friends just left you all alone” he asked turning his bar stool to face you
You felt your body heat up in an uncomfortable way at his words and the alcohol probably wasn't helping either.
“I'm suree their a-around here somewhere” you tried not to slur but it was clear to the man that you were drunk.
“Maybe you and I could share couple drinks and see where this goes” You almost puked at the feeling of his hand on your thigh, you stumped out of your bar seat mumbling “I have a boyfriend”
“Yea but he’s at home right?” you heard the man's voice say as he followed you
“Leave me the fuck alone” you yelled caching the Attention of other people around you
The guy could clearly see that other people were watching you
“Fine I get fuck” he responed turning around and leaving you
Now with the night even more ruined you just wanted to go home but you didn't know where your friends were bad they weren't answering their phones. You stumbled outside and sat on a bench that was near the bar.
You did the only thing you could have done and that was call Quinn
You quickly found Quinn’s concat and pushed the call button. You knew it was almost 1 in the morning so he was probably sleeping.
“H-hello” You heard Quinn’s raspy voice on the other line proving you right that he was sleeping.
“Hiii Quinny” You smiled into the phone
“Hi y/n whats up” He asked
“Sooo the girl’s are talking to some guys in the bar and I already have a guy at home, that being you an-”
“You need me to pick you up?” he asked cutting you off
“Yes” you mumbled
You could hear shuffling on the other side of the line, knowing he was on way made you feel better.
“What bar are you guys at?” he asked grabbing his keys and heading out the door
“I don't know” you respond laughing
“Fuck just send your locashon, and Ill be there” he snapped back clearly still mad about the argument you both had before you felt.
His tone of voice and words whipped the smile right of your face, you quickly went and sent him your location.
“Thank you, I’ll be there soon” Was the last thing he said before he hung up.
You took a deep breath trying to keep your emotions at bay before your boyfriend came to pick you up. You just scrolled through tik tok like you've been doing all night.
It wasn't long till Quinn’s blue Toyota pulled up right in front of you. You smiled when you saw him to get out of the car, you quickly got up but stubbled making Quinn catch you.
You laughed as he helped you into the car, you watched him hussle around to the driver side of the car.
“You came to get me” You smiled at him as you reached for one of his hands holding it.
“Mhm” he grumbled
“Your mad” you said staring at him squeezing his hand
“A little” he responded, pulling his hand away from yours and placing it in the steering wheel.
“Quinny” you whined turning your body towards him “I'm sorry ok, I'm sorry I didn't know who else to call ok!” you signed “He just wouldn't leave me alone” you mumbled looking away
“What?” Quinn asked whipping his head towards you
“This guy at the bar” You answered “I was at the bar and he wouldn't stop talking to me, i got him to go away, then I called you”
“Why were You by yourself” He asked a little to sharp for your liking
“It wasn't like I wanted to be the girls ditched me like 20 minutes in” You snapped “He didn't really do anything, just put his hand on my thigh” you shrugged
“Y/n that's not nothing he touched you” He told pulling into your guy’s driveway “That's flirting”
“Oh so now having a hand on the thigh is important, fuck you Quinn” You fired at him trying  to open the car door but Quinn was to quick with the lock button “Unlock the door”
“Y/n your drunk if you get out you’ll fall” he stated unbuckling his seat belt
You stayed quiet, still mad that Quinn couldn't see your point of view.
“And your right ok, I should have said something” He admitted
“Yea you f-fucking shhould havee” you drunkly spat pulling on the door again.
“Y/n stop i'm trying to apologize” you turned back to face him.
Quinn felt horrible, he knew he was wrong and that he should have said something. He hated that he was snapping and petty. You called him because you felt unsafe and he was too focused on the argument that happened almost five hours ago.
“Im sorry ok” He sighed grabbing your hand and giving it a squeeze “You were right, if it's what you want i’ll talk to coach and see if I can switch to the other medical supervisor” he compromised
“Yea that is what I fucking want” You still spat at him
Quinn took a deep breath knowing you were still mad, he gave your hand a final squeeze before he opened his door and walked around to your side.
He opened your door making the interior light switch on giving him a good look at your drunken state. He was too busy arguing so see that your hair was frizzy and your smudged make up. Quinn reached over and unbuckled your seat belt, he didn't look at him still a little hurt.
You felt your hair be tucked back behind your ear and out of your face, you looked up at your boyfriend slightly squinting at the bright light. Quinn softly smiled at your cute drowsy state, cradling the side of your face with the inside of his palm.
“Come on baby, let get you to bed” He comforted
You mumbled something in response that he couldn't understand. He helped you out of the car slowly not wanting you to fall,he had his arm around your waist and his other arm coming across to grab your hand leading you through the house and to your guide's shared bedroom.
You flopped down onto the bed with a groan, almost falling asleep till you heard Quinn’s voice.
“No no no Y/n not yet, you gotta stay up” He said, grabbing your arm pulling you back to standing in front of him, slightly swaying side to side.
“I wanna go to bed” You mumbled, with your eyes being closed you could hear Quinn moving around.
“I know, I know but you can't sleep in your clothes and makeup baby” He said
Baby
God you loved it when he took care of you. Sure you were still mad but all you wanted to do was touch him,hug him basically anything.
When you opened your eye’s Quinn had his back to you as he was going through your side of the closet looking for something you could wear to bed. He turned around holding a t-shirt and sweatpants in hand.
“Ok let's get you changed” He said stepping in front of you “take of your shirt”
You snickered a little at his choice of words, he smirked at your response
“You know what I mean” He laughed as you grabbed the gem of your shirt but you struggled to get it over your head.
Quinn laughed more at you struggling, he helped you get it over your head just leaving you in  your bra. You un-clipped your bra leaving you now just in your jeans, even though you and Quinn have been together for more than a year he still tried to give you your Privacy and not look since you were still drunk and it made him feel wrong.
Quinn handed you one of his T-shirts and you tried to put it on but you struggled again to put it on.
“You need help huh?” he laughed
“Yes Quinn my tit’s are out, of course I need help” You snapped
Quinn threw his head back and laughed before he helped you put on the shirt.
“Yea laugh it up Hughes”
Quinn led you to sit down on the bed, he lent down to slip off your shoes and struggled to take your pants off. You were no help, lying limp on your back basically half asleep. Once he got them off he quickly grabbed some make-up whipp's from your bathroom, when he returned you were in the middle of crawling into the bed.
“Nope y/n we’re not done yet” he laughed trying to pull you to the side of the bed again
You light swatted him away trying to get comfortable “I wanna sleepppp” you whined
“You need to take your make-up off and put the sweat-pants on” He told sitting on the side of the bed “I don't need pants i'm fine, just hurry up” you said turning your face to face him.
“So bossy” Quinn teased as he whipped your makeup off your face

Title: Elimination
Author: Tory / @tkwrites
Relationship: Pre-established: Quinn x Sarah
Warnings: Sad Quinn, fluff and comfort, smut (18+ only), unprotected sex, p in v, oral (f receiving), if I missed any others, please let me know.
Summary: When the Canucks are eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Sarah offers Quinn a kind of comfort he didn’t know he needed.
Word count: 4,200
Comments: This snapshot has been a long time coming. The idea of Sarah comforting Quinn the way she does came to me while I was driving to work one day, and I immediately wrote it down. It took me quite a while to figure Quinn’s family into the story, including his brothers (yes! They're finally here!).
As I was editing the comfort scene, I found the story continuing in a way I didn’t really expect, but mirrored Before I meet your parents… in a way I couldn’t ignore.
If you enjoy it, please let me know by commenting or reblogging! Your comments really do inspire me to keep writing!
Elimination
A Quinn & Sarah Snapshot
The playoffs were a whole different beast than Sarah had become accustomed to. Not only was the season much longer than any of the guys were used to, practices were more intense and heated, video more in depth, the need for rest and recovery more acute. She knew first hand how tired the team was because she knew first hand how tired Quinn was.
In the first round, they'd lost the first game in the series before rallying to win the next three. The Kings won one more before the Canucks stamped them out with the last win coming on home ice in overtime. Despite the final score only being 1-0, it was the most exciting game Sarah had ever been to.
When she was sitting with Quinns family, Luke had taken to teasing her in that little brother way every time her hands ended up clutching her face with each shot directed at Demko or Talbot.
“Calm down, Sarah,” he’d said, when she jumped in her seat, hands flying up to cover her mouth as Demko barrel rolled to stop another shot from Kopitar.
She'd sent a playful glare his way, “I'm surprised Kylee hasn't told you you should never tell a woman to calm down. That's a surefire way to get yourself into trouble.”
Kylee, who was sitting on Lukes other side, snorted. “Oh, I have. He just doesn’t listen.”
Luke took it in stride and laughed. He reminded Sarah so much of her oldest nephew, Ryan. Good natured, friendly and a little bit goofy once she broke through that shy shell.
Sarah glanced at Jack, who was sitting with his some of his cousins farther down the row. His eyes darted away, as if caught staring at something he shouldn’t.
The strained way he acted around her was getting better, but he was still pretty standoffish toward her. When she asked Quinn what she could do to fix it, he said to just give it time, and Jack would come around eventually. He didn’t think it was actually anything about her, but rather Jack needing time to adjust to the situation.
“I think he finally realized how serious I am about you.”
“You’re serious about me?” she’d asked, all flirty lashes and coy smiles.
“You know I am,” he’d responded before leaning in to kiss her.
So, she turned back to the game, giving Jack time and hoping he would see  how much she loved his older brother and that she only meant well.
When Garland shot the overtime goal off a picture perfect pass from Quinn, he managed to catch Talbot above the blocker, sending the puck sailing into the back of the net with a definitive whoosh.
The arena erupted into a wall of sound.
The entire team, clad in blue, spilled onto the ice, throwing helmets and gloves, crowding around Conor and Thatcher.
Quinn was ecstatic that evening. Practically bouncing off the walls of the club they went to to celebrate. Sarah had never seen him so loud - caught up in the atmosphere and moment.
Halfway through the night, he pulled her into a dim corner and kissed her so thoroughly, she actually considered pulling him into the dingy bathroom to have her way with him right then.
Jack interrupted, drunkenly loud, and demanded that Quinn come with him for a round of shots.
Quinn paused, meeting Sarah’s eye.
“Go celebrate,” she encouraged, trying her best to not come between them. She and Quinn could find a spare moment to celebrate on their own later.
With his family in his house, that moment hadn’t come, but she was glad to see Quinn celebrating so heartily with his brothers.
In the second round, after three straight losses to the Predators, Vancouver battled, forcing game five, before dominating in Nashville two nights later, selling their comeback story.
When they got back to town, the whole city was buzzing.
Despite the excitement, game six was awful to watch. Sarah had her hands over her mouth through most of it.
Now that they were fighting to tie, and the Preds were fighting, once again, to clinch the series, Nashville was playing dirty: exploiting every Canucks weakness they could find. They needled, drawing penalty after stupid, preventable penalty until they were three goals up at the end of the second period.
Quinn was exhausted. Sarah could see it in his skating and in the slumped set of his shoulders as they went into the dressing room for the intermission.
She sent him a text, I’m so proud of you.
He didn't reply, but they battled back, holding off all Preds offense and getting within a goal by the time Demko was pulled at the end of the third. Quinn battled fiercely to keep the puck in the offensive zone for more than a minute, giving a master class on body-eye coordination as he skirted the blue line, dodging Nashville players as if someone were controlling him with a top ice view.
Their passes were perfect: tic-tac-toe from Quinn to Mikheyev to Lafferty, but as Sam tried to get the puck to Höglander, the pass was intercepted.
Nashville fought to center ice and chipped the puck into the Vancouver end.
Quinn chased it, but he just didn't have enough in the tank. He caught up just as the puck bounced back out of the open net.
Full of frustration and despair, he smacked it into the boards. Caught at just the right angle, the puck ricocheted back at him, and he had to lift a hand to block it from hitting him in the face.
Sarah could practically see the frustrated embarrassment radiating off him as he skated to sit down.
Demko was pulled again and Quinn managed to get the empty netter back, but through the ugly march of time, the clock expired before they could score another.
The buzzer sounded and Nashville celebrated, throwing equipment all over the ice, all hugging and jumping as the Canucks limped into the dressing room.
Even despite the disappointment of losing, everyone was thrilled to see them get this far. Going from the middle of the pack last season to top of the league this year was no small feat. She knew Quinn wouldn’t be satisfied until they got the cup, but she was so proud of him.
He sent a text, telling them to go home and he would meet them there when he was done with the media.
It was torture for Sarah to have to leave and wait for him. She wished she could go down to the dressing room, but knew not only would she not be allowed in, Quinn would hate it. He would want to talk with her privately.
Everyone was subdued as they puttered around the apartment, waiting for him. Both Jack and Luke were on their phones, sprawled out over the living room furniture, while Ellen, Jim and Kylee were doing something in the kitchen. Sarah was too nervous to even distract herself. Quinn had lost before, of course, but she’d never seen him lose like this — not this kind of a season-ending, brutal loss.
When the elevator dinged, Sarah jumped to her feet, his family following suit, clambering into the living room.
To her surprise, Quinn came straight to her, not even bothering to shut the door behind him. His suit was rumpled, his tie attempting to slither out of his breast pocket. When she wrapped him in her arms, he practically collapsed against her.
Ellen knew Quinn loved and trusted Sarah and that he spent far more time with her these days, but it was still a bit shocking when he bypassed them all to go straight to her for comfort.
Sarah reacted in a way Ellen never had and upon seeing the scene play out, she realized Sarah’s reaction may have been something Quinn had been longing for for a long time.
She would usually hug him for a while, before talking him down. They would soon end up dissecting shifts and plays. He would lament how he could have been better, and she would try to comfort him while still being realistic.
Sarah just stood there, holding him. She didn't say a word, even when Quinn started to cry softly. She just ran a hand into his wet hair, while the other traveled slowly up and down his back.
She didn't assure or placate him, or even try to get him to stop crying. She just let him express the emotion without judgment or commentary. It hit Ellen suddenly that Sarah reacted this way because she had dealt with so much sorrow in her life, she knew how to comfort in these hard moments.
The family stood by and watched. She didn’t look up and meet their eyes with a conspiratorial, he’ll be alright, look, or invite them into the embrace. Her whole intention was focused on Quinn.
While it was sweet to see them together in this way, it was also a little awkward to watch, especially for the boys, who looked like they had no idea what to do.
It was full minutes before anyone said anything, and even then, it was just Sarah asking if he wanted to sit down. He shook his head so she did a little two-step, and kept on.
As Ellen watched them interact, it was obvious how much they meant to and understood each other. It was so sweet to witness her son finding the person he needed that she pulled out her phone to record them, wanting to document the moment.
When they finally spoke, Ellen was glad she was filming.
“I let everyone down,” Quinn said, his voice choked with emotion, just above a whisper.
“No.” Her voice was quite loud, the word definitive, leaving no room for doubt. It was a bit shocking to hear Sarah be so forceful.
Taking his jaw, she gently lifted his head up so he had to look into her eyes.
“No,” she repeated, her voice a little softer now. “This wasn't only your fault, and it didn't happen because of anything you did by yourself.”
Ellen wasn’t sure she would go that far… If he had gone for a change, someone with fresh legs may have been able to chase down that empty netter.
“You don’t win as a team, but lose by yourself. That’s not how this works.”
Now she understood where Sarah was going.
“I know this run is ending sooner than you wanted and I'd be more concerned if you weren't sad.” She paused for a long moment, looking into his eyes as if she was searching for something. When she didn’t find it, she continued, “I just - I want you to remember that I don't love you because you play hockey.”
His lower lip trembled and Ellen felt hers do the same.
“I love you because of this big, kind heart,” she said as she pressed a hand to his chest, “and because of this brilliant, thoughtful mind,” her other hand slid into the hair at his temple. “And those are the same as they were this morning. You're so much more than hockey.”
He was looking at her like she'd hung the moon.
Ellen felt tears slip down her own cheeks. All her life, she’d been trying to strike a balance with her boys - trying to find the right way to tell them hockey was just a part of who they are. And here Sarah was, walking into their life, and saying the exact thing Ellen had been trying to say all along.
Right then and there, the remaining reservations she had about Sarah were swept onto the back burner. She knew it would still take some getting used to, but how could she not love this woman standing in front of her, telling her son she loved him for who he was and not for the things he did? It was all she could ask for as a mother.
She glanced over at Jack, who looked a little dumbfounded, as if seeing Sarah for the first time. Luke was smiling in a glad, knowing way, his arm looped around Kylee.
Jim, standing on Ellen’s other side had a mixture of pride and disappointment on his face. Ellen knew he was going to battle with himself at the thought of Quinn crying over being eliminated. When they were kids, he would have told the boys to buck up, despite Ellen’s insistence it was okay for them to express their sadness for a little while.
The happiness at seeing someone accept Quinn as he was won out, and Jim put his arm around Ellen with a conspiratorial smile.
“Of course you’re going to be sad,” Sarah continued. “Like I said, I’d be more concerned if you weren’t. But you,” she poked him gently in the chest to emphasize her point, “sure as hell didn’t let me down.”
Quinn threw his arms around her in a fierce hug. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
He wiped at his eyes, then turned to the family. They embraced him one by one.
After she’d hugged Quinn, Ellen went to Sarah, “I don’t know how you did that,” she said, pulling her close, “but that was exactly what he needed.”
When Quinn made his way back to Sarah, he kissed her temple. His eyes were still red, cheeks still splotched with color, but he looked settled. Not satisfied or happy, really, but settled.
Later that night, Ellen sent the video to her sister, making her promise to not share it with anyone. She just needed someone else to see the tenderness.
Oh, Elle, I'm so glad Quinn finally found a good one. I can't wait to meet her.
At the same time Ellen was texting her sister, Quinn was lying next to Sarah in bed. Her words from earlier replaying over and over again in his thoughts.
He'd practically begged her to stay over. She hadn't planned to with his family in the house, but he felt a bit needy and wanted the comfort of her next to him.
“Thank you for tonight,” he said, turning to her.
She rolled onto her side so they were face to face. “I'm always gonna be in your corner, Quinn.”
Leaning in, he kissed her - gently at first, but it soon turned more passionate.
The fact that they would be apart before too long was on both their minds as they made love that night.
“Oh, Quinn. Right there, right there,” she chanted, voice soft.
The simple fact that he could make her feel this way made his heart feel full to bursting. At least he hadn't lost that.
Keeping eye contact, his hand traced to her left knee and pulled it up over his hip. He didn’t want her to have the same old orgasm. Not tonight. A big part of him wanted to prove he could still excel here.
Head tipping back, Sarah panted.
His other hand came up to guide her chin back down.
The way she clenched around him when their eyes met made his hips stutter.
She lifted herself up to catch his mouth. It changed the angle of his thrusts, making his whole body quiver. He tried to brace against it, slowing down and concentrating on kissing the breath out of her.
It worked in that they were both breathless before too long, but didn't ease the feeling of being pulled to the very edge of his restraint. The competitive streak inside him wasn't about to allow himself to come before she did - especially not tonight, when he had so much left to prove.
“No,” she gasped  when he pulled away. “I was right there.”
He laughed into her skin. “I'm not going anywhere, sweetheart,” he said, before tracing his mouth over her clavicle and trailing his tongue between her breasts, savoring the salty taste of her skin.
The blankets pulled with him as he settled between her legs, and Sarah gasped as the cool air of his room hit her.
She looked so ethereal in a pool of soft light from one of the skylights, her chest rising and falling at a hurried, steady pace.
“God, you're beautiful,” he whispered.
Times like these, Quinn still wasn’t quite sure how he’d managed to find Sarah. She seemed to be his perfect match in every way. It wasn’t always smooth sailing - nothing ever was. This summer was sure to take a toll on their relationship. He knew, somehow, they would come out on the other side, better and stronger, but all the same, he wasn’t looking forward to spending so many nights without her.
Pushing that worry out of his mind, he concentrated the task at hand and lowered his mouth to her hot center.
It was his turn to give thanks.
She was acutely aware of his family in the apartment: brothers on the floor below, while his parents were down the hall. They were never particularly loud in bed, but the thought of his family overhearing hushed her vocal cords even more.
“Quinn,” she whimpered.
He ate up every whisper, every little whine and panted breath, knowing they were just for him.
Making some unintelligible noise, her back arched, lifting off the mattress.
She whined when he eased two fingers into her and lifted his mouth.
“Help me find it?” he whispered, crooking his fingers.
“Higher.”
He moved slowly, not wanting to go too fast and pass over it.
“There, there,” she panted.
Reaching up with his free hand, he disentangled her fingers from the sheet so he could grasp her hand, linking them together.
“You can press a little harder. It’s not as sen -” her voice broke off into a groaned, “oh, fuck,” as he urged that soft, spongey spot with a heavier touch.
They’d done this more after his revelatory first time, and he loved discovering new things about her. He still had a hard time finding her g-spot on his own, but he was learning. Tonight felt like a whole new ego stroke, one he was seeking if he was being honest with himself.
His mind wandered back to the first time he’d touched her, the way she’d reminded him of Helen of Troy - beautiful beyond belief. He ached for her the same way now as he watched her fall apart. Mouth dropped open as her body pulled taught as a bow string, one hand grasping the headboard for stability while the other clutched his like a vice.
As she came down from her high, he kept his fingers pressed into her.
Even as she squirmed against the sensitivity from his strong touch, she felt a blaze of pleasure reignite in her belly, faster than it ever had before.
Still kneading with his fingertips, he lowered down, sucking her sensitive pearl into his mouth. She let out a strangled cry that left him dizzy with satisfaction.
The contrast of his warm mouth and soft tongue on her core against the harsh rasp of his playoff beard on her inner thighs wound her tighter and tighter until he was sparking so much ecstasy in her body, she couldn't quite remember why she was trying to be so quiet.
Her fingers tightened in his at the same time her legs trembled and he knew she was close. He continued on, mouth soft and steady while his fingers worked with more focused intent.
The way she whimpered his name made him groan and rock his hips into the mattress to get a bit of relief.
When the tension in her pelvis finally snapped, Sarah cried out.
It was only after she came back to herself and he eased his fingers from her that she worried about how loud she'd been.
Before she could ask, he knocked her breathless again as he slid his fingers into his mouth, cleaning them with apparent relish.
“Did I yell?” she whispered as he crawled back over her.
He shook his head, “not too loud. I don't think they heard.”
The anxiety ebbed away as he leaned in to kiss her.
“Can you turn over?” he asked, lips barely grazing hers.
She pulled back to look into his face.
“I want to make you feel good,” he said.
“You already did. Twice.”
“Please?” he asked, ghosting his lips over her cheek, “let me make you come one more time.”
In reality, Quinn was tired, but his pride was insistent, eager to feel her again and he knew if he got her on her stomach she’d come faster than in missionary.
He could see worry in her expression, but she did as he asked, the sheets clinging briefly to her back as she rolled.
One of his hands grazed down her side, following the curvature of her hip before tracing her hamstring all the way to the knee. Hooking his hand there, he eased her leg out to the side.
He really was spoiling her. Eagle with a broken wing was her favorite position other than missionary, but they didn’t do it terribly often, both generally preferring to see the other when they were together.
She felt Quinn’s heat before any of his skin, and raised her hips slightly to facilitate him.
“You’re —” she broke off into a groan as he eased into her again. She was so sensitive, she was fairly certain she would have fallen apart all over again if he had given her an intense enough look. Heat was already climbing up her spine and he hadn't even moved yet.
His hands appeared near hers as he braced on his forearms. She moved to lace her fingers through his.
When he began to thrust, he felt her fingers curl until her nails kissed his palms
Listening to her sweet sounds, he couldn’t get enough of her. He wanted to live in her forever.
“Holy shit,” she breathed, chaos sparking all over her skin. “I didn't think I could come this many times so quickly.”
Her hushed statement rushed to his head. “Sarah,” he moaned into her neck. “Fuck, Sarah.”
His mouth traced the curve of her neck before gently biting the ridge of her shoulder.
The prick of pain from his teeth combined with the way he was hitting her g spot in a steady, continuous rhythm had Sarah’s mouth falling open. “Oh. Quinn,” she moaned. “Just like that. Please don't stop.”
Feeling out of his mind with pleasure and pride, he rested his forehead on her back.
Only after he felt her tremble and pulse around him and chanting that he loved her, he let himself go, spilling into her with a loud groan he tried to muffle into her skin.
They stayed that way for a long while, his sweaty chest pressed into her back. He was a comfortable weight, pressing her into the mattress.
Quinn talked himself into moving and eased out, his wince matching the breath she hissed through her teeth. Before he could decide which side to roll onto, she was turning onto her back, and pulling him into her embrace.
Resting his head on her chest, he sighed.
Sarah smiled, tired but gratified and pushed a lock of hair off his forehead. She wanted to get up and go to the bathroom, but waited, knowing Quinn needed this extra affection.
“I don't…” he started to say, then trailed off, slowly tracing a circle around her belly button.
He had never felt supported and loved like he had today. Not only when she just let him cry, but when she reminded him that she loved the things about him that weren't his job.
Quinn hadn't known how much he needed to hear Sarah’s words until she was saying them. His whole family was so entwined in hockey that, even though he knew his parents loved him, it sometimes felt like his success and failure in the arena were wrapped up in their affection and approval. It was one of the reasons Jack always felt like the favorite child, as he had the most natural talent.
“You don't?” she urged when he didn’t say anything else.
He shook his head and took a steadying breath. “I feel like I don't deserve you.”
A little smile played on her lips, “I feel that way sometimes, too, but I'm not really sure it's about deserving. Everyone deserves love.”
She paused for a long time playing with his hair. It relaxed Quinn, causing him to practically melt into her.
“I'm glad we're both willing to put in the work and try to meet in the middle,” she said quietly.
He agreed, pressing a kiss to the top of her breast.
As they stayed that way for a long time, Quinn felt cocooned in her love and hoped she felt the same.
“Okay,” she said a little while later, starting to feel sticky and itchy, “I’m sorry, but I really need to shower, or at least rinse off.”
They took a quick shower, and Quinn changed the fitted sheet as she redid her skincare.
When they finally fell asleep tangled together, she in a pair of his shorts and a t-shirt, and he in his boxers, it was well after three.
After sleeping like the dead, Quinn woke close to ten, still feeling that strong swell of gratitude easing the disappointment in his chest.
If anyone in his family had heard them, they were all excellent actors, and didn't say a thing.

"How do I look?" you ask, descending the last few steps of the stairwell. The sound of your heels clicking softly on the wooden steps draws Quinn's attention away from his phone. He glances up and his eyes widen, his phone forgotten as it slips from his grasp and lands with a soft thud on the carpet. For a moment, he just stands there, mouth agape, struggling to find words, his expression a mix of surprise and admiration.
"Wow.. you-you look phenomenal." His voice is barely more than a whisper, filled with genuine admiration. You can't help but roll your eyes, a playful smile tugging at your lips as you shake your head slightly. Phenomenal? Maybe not, but you did feel a little more beautiful today. You had taken extra care with your makeup, experimenting with shades of lavender and soft pink to complement your lilac, flowery sundress. The delicate fabric swayed gently with each movement, catching the light in a way that made the floral patterns seem almost alive. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was a departure from your usual style, and it made you feel special.
"Stop it." Heat blooms across your cheeks, spreading like wildfire as Quinn closes the distance between you in a few swift strides. His hands trace a delicate path along the fabric of your dress, his touch barely grazing the intricate patterns before settling gently at your waist.
"You are so insanely gorgeous," he murmurs, his breath warm against your ear. "How'd I land such a pretty girl?" His words are innocent, honest, but the intensity behind them makes your heart flutter. The sincerity in his eyes, the way his fingers curl around your waist, anchoring you to the moment, all contribute to the rush of genuine happiness that floods through you.
Your teeth sink into your bottom lip, attempting to stifle an even bigger smile. "You look gorgeous too, Quinn,"
He huffs playfully, rolling his eyes in a teasing mimicry of your earlier gesture. "Oh yeah?" he asks, a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth.
You reach up, your fingers brushing against the smooth material of his mint green satin dress shirt. The fabric feels cool and luxurious under your touch as you adjust his collar, smoothing out a barely visible wrinkle. The gentle scent of his cologne, a subtle blend of cedarwood and citrus, fills the small space between you, and you inhale a deep breath of it before speaking. "Mhm," you nod, your eyes locking with his again. "So handsome."
He looked so pretty in mint green. You always loved seeing him in pastel colors; they brought out the warmth in his complexion and offered a refreshing change from the same old black suit he often wore. His shirt shimmered softly under the light, emphasizing the depth of his hazel eyes and the relaxed charm he exuded when dressed up.
His hair had grown longer since the end of the playoffs. The once neatly trimmed style was now replaced by a cascade of messy curls that framed his face, softening his features and adding back a boyish charm, ending just at the nape of his neck. Your fingers reach up instinctively, tangling into the deep brown tresses. You gave a gentle tug, feeling the silky strands slip between your fingers, and he draws closer with a content sigh.
"Will it mess up your makeup if I kiss you?" He asks, despite already knowing the answer, with a longing within his voice, as if seeing each other for the first time in years.
You let out a laugh. "Yes."
He lets out a dramatic groan, head falling into your shoulder, more akin to a boy denied his favorite treat than a grown man. "Just one?" he pouts.
You roll your eyes, knowing all too well that with him, it was never 'just one.' 'Just one' always turned into 'just five minutes,' which inevitably became 'fuck, I'm late.' Today, you couldn't afford to be late. Both of you had semi-important roles in the wedding, you as a bridesmaid and him as a groomsman. "On the cheek," you compromise.
He shoots you a pointed look, and you raise your brows, a silent challenge passing between you before he finally relents with a sigh. "Fine." He agrees begrudgingly, mirth in his tone.
Smiling at him, you tilt your head and lean up on your tiptoes, closing the distance between the two of you. You press a delicate kiss onto his cheek, the shade leaving a pale imprint behind. As you pull away, a teasing glint sparkles in your eyes. "Oops, you got a little somethin' there," you comment with a playful smirk, your gaze lingering on the faint lipstick stain now adorning his cheek.
"Leave it," he responds, his voice light, but with a hint of possessiveness. "Let everyone know I belong to you."
A sudden chill rushes through your body, sending a shiver down your spine. Though you recognize the playful tone in his words, a surge of pride swells within you at the notion of everyone at the wedding knowing he's yours, marked by a simple yet tangible reminder.
"Let's go, before I accidentally rip your pants off," you exhale.
He barks out laughter, a warm melody that fills the air around you, easing the tension that had briefly settled between you. He might be laughing, but you weren't joking.
