Darren Criss, Lena Hall, Ramin Karimloo, Solea Pfeiffer Rock the Broadhurst in Chess Concert

For those familiar with the original London staging of Chess or the short-lived Broadway production, the newest iteration of the Tim Rice-Benny Andersson-Björn Ulvaeus musical—about the egos and emotions that collide during an international Chess championship between the U.S. and U.S.S.R.—features numerous changes to the book and order of songs, several new lyrics, and a storyline that labels Freddie Trumper, played by stage and screen star Criss, as a clinical narcissist with bipolar disorder. As Pinkham joked, “With the name Trumper, what would you expect?”

Criss, who fully embodied the narcissism of the American chess player, delivered his solo, the go-for-the-throat “Pity the Child” with a hypnotic, dramatic intensity. Despite some vocal fatigue, the Emmy winner turned the anthem into a one-act play, revealing the character’s vulnerability beneath the cocky exterior. He also had fun with the musical’s best-known tune, “One Night in Bangkok,” which also featured the chorus, many of whom shed their black outfits down to their skivvies and surrounded Criss in the sultry pop hit.

I got my hands on a signed playbill of “Jekyll & Hyde.” It has the signatures of Robert Cuccioli, Linda Eder, and Christiane Noll.
The Playbill has some damage that the seller mentioned but the signatures are in tact!

i decided that i want to redesign the bulletin boards by my desk in my room so i just took everything down and it looks so weird lol but i'll excited to switch up pictures and artwork and stuff!

What a treat; tonight my mom and I got to see the musical Gypsy on its opening night at the Marriott Theatre, and right now we’re at the afterparty with the cast, all for free!* Such a cool local venue where the stage is in the center surrounded by the seats. *(Last year my mom got into writing really thoughtful and thorough reviews on Yelp, and did it so well she quickly became part of the Yelp Elite community. i just got home and while my mom was at my apartment she moved a bunch of my things and clearly attempted to “tidy up” but she knows how much i HATE her touching and moving my belongings like oh my god i’m an adult if my room is a lil messy for your tastes just get over it fr but ofc i cannot say this to her bc she did me a huge favor and kindness today and it would not be kind in return to complain but it’s just like why do i feel like a broken record why doesn’t she listen when i tell her something she does, and could easily not do, bothers and upsets me
#it’s an anxiety and paranoia thing to feel as tho things are missing#and some of it stems directly from her either throwing away selling or giving away my belongings#OR ruining prized possessions while ‘tidying up’ like the time i was in high school#and she bent my playbills and the photo of me with karen gillan and matt smith#like i had a full on meltdown over that one bc those were rhe only things I cared about at the time#and she just completely did not care at all .. you would think she would learn but she does not 😐

since we're all getting very into dracula now (and since mina was introduced today in dracula daily) i wanted to share some pics of the very good stage production of dracula i saw back in early 2020 @ classic stage company in nyc, written by kate hamill and directed by sarna lapine!
the production turned mina into the main character, and turned the story into a feminist revenge thriller / final girl sort of deal, which i thought was a really cool take on it. there's a couple of videos of scenes from it on youtube (jonathan meeting dracula, mina and lucy, the introduction of van helsing, and a couple more plus behind the scenes interviews if you look on their channel).
obviously dracula's been done a thousand times a thousand different ways by now, but i couldn't find any posts talking about this version yet, so i wanted to share it!
