'𝐉𝐀𝐂𝐊 & 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐊' 𝐍𝐎𝐍-𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐑 𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝗪: 𝟖½🌱 / 𝟏𝟎⁣ ⁣ Producer/director Bonnie Lythgoe puts a modern 3D spin on an old classic fairytale in the hilarious pantomime production of 'Jack & The Beanstalk' currently on at the State Theatre, Sydney.⁣ ⁣ The talented ensemble cast put in solid performances, including Lucy Durack [Fairy Crystal], Peter Rowsthorn [King Able Crumble], Richard Reid [Bumble the Lord Chancellor], Malcolm Lord [Dame Trot, Jack's mum], Lachlan Dearing [Jack] & Anastasia Feneri [Princess Jill].⁣ ⁣ Luke Joslin [Fleshcreep] did well to cope with the audience's booing & jeering towards his antagonist role as the minion to the Giant Blunderbore - who was responsible for terrorising the land. Joslin's commitment to delivering Fleshcreep, from his voice to his posture, was superb. ⁣ ⁣ 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Whether he was flossing, engaging the audience directly, or singing, Jimmy Rees [Simon Trot, Jack's brother] was an audience favourite from start to finish; his involvement in a reworking of the classic Abbott & Costello skit of "Who's on 1st, what's on 2nd" was mind-blowingly brilliant & his performance with 4 dancing Minions of Imagine Dragon's "On Top of the World" is the absolute highlight of the show. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 ⁣ Also, look out for Daisy Buttercup, the cow that is traded by Jack for a bag of beans; despite Daisy's stellar performance, one of my daughters kept asking where the head goes for the back person in the 2-person cow suit!!⁣ ⁣ The set production for the beanstalk, itself, was so good that it looked almost real...& the 3D segment was near perfect.⁣ ⁣ With a combination of songs written for the show, classic hits from the 1980's - including 'Waiting for a Star to Fall [1988]', 'Shakedown [1987]', 'I Should Be So Lucky [1988]' & 'Never Gonna Give You Up [1987] - along with more recent music, the set list for the panto is fantastic.⁣ ⁣ SHOW DETAILS⁣ VENUE: State Theatre, Sydney⁣ PERFORMANCE DATES: 12 - 21 July, 2019⁣ BOOKINGS: www.ticketmaster.com.au or 1300 139 588⁣ ⁣ 😂🤣😂 This is great fun for the entire family. Peter Rowsthorn is coming to town next weekend to perform his first show in Narrogin in a number of years. From Porpoise Spit to the Sydney stage, a star has been found for Sydney Theatre Company's upcoming Muriel's Wedding musical, although she wasn't even born when the movie was released. McKenna is a relative newcomer, but is the daughter of Kath and Kim star Gina Riley and her producer husband Rick McKenna. Kath and Kim star Gina Riley's daughter Maggie McKenna to take on Toni Collette's role in Sydney's world premiere of Muriel's Wedding: The Musical.
