i think i do want amy and rouge to be in the next sonic movie, especially if its gonna be an sa2 adaptation, but i cant help but worry that if they try to introduce shadow AND rouge AND amy in the same movie then at least one of those characters (most likely amy. tbh.) isnt gonna get the amount of screentime and development that they deserve. especially considering in the game timeline amy was introduced much earlier and by sa2 was already an established character while rouge and shadow were the newcomers. and then theres also the human characters who are gonna be making the cast a lot bigger than it was in the game so more people to divide the screentime among. like what if amy is in sonic 3 and she gets like 5 minutes of screentime and her big moment with shadow is given to another character again
#though i guess the sa2 based story being amy's introduction#could also open an opportunity for her to play a bigger role in the plot than she did in the original ... hmm....#ive seen some people suggest the idea of amy or rouge being introduced in the knuckles series but i dont think i want that either?#the knuckles series should act as something that adds to the experience but isnt necessary to understand the next movie#i know we're all extremely autistic about sonic here but try to think of it from the perspective of a casual viewer#if i were a casual viewer of a movie series and didnt actively keep up with news for it and didnt know about any spinoff stuff#and suddenly a new character who was introduced in secondary material shows up in the next movie#and the writing treats me as if im supposed to know who they are. i would find that confusing and annoying actually#also with the whole. big cast of characters making me worried that certain characters wont get as much screentime as they should thing#i know in sonic 2 their way of getting around this was like. putting the characters into groups and pairs#that they stick with for long portions of the movie instead of there being a bunch of solo scenes for each character#and the most plot relevant characters all kinda join up at the end and do stuff together#which i guess could probably work for sonic 3 . so maybe im worrying over nothing

im doing a dc call with my gc next week to give them the same experience i had for my dc dive and i. am actually so nervous LOL
i’ve retold flashpoint paradox AT LEAST 4 different times in its entirety, this should be second nature to me, but smth abt it feels like a final boss. like this is gonna be most of their first “official” impression and i need to do my superblorbs justice.
#this is so serious i’m making a syllabus and everything#my plan is starting with JLwar so they can get a general feel for the characters as a whole#and then go down specific routes as they comes up naturally#ik it’s not chronological but i’m trying to curate this experience for Them (especially as mostly non-superhero fans)#i love storytelling so much you guys know this i literally spent 11+ hrs retelling YJ#but it’s always been one-on-one… an entire audience is just… whew this will be my greatest feat yet#dc#danbles#you also might be asking ‘danny why don’t they just watch the movies on their own?’ and to that i say#bc they are my friends and they love indulging me ō__ō#and yk. dc has a rly intimidating barrier to entry#and i wanna make their introductions feel special and specific to them#also bc my version will obviously be thru my own perspective so i’ll be able to provide context for both the comics and my own posts/art#this is so exciting gah we’ve been planning this for months

the fact that kinzo's formal character introduction breaks form by happening in a separate narrative moment and not when battler meets/observes him for the first time in the story and the fact that kinzo is the only character for whom this is the case is. hm. weird to say the least.
#umineko liveblog#ep1 reread#so kinzo being introduced in a third person scene and not a battler pov scene raises some questions#such as who is he being introduced to if not battler?#and why is he introduced in this way?#and what about kinzo means that the pre established pattern doesn't fit with him?#like logically we as readers have to receive kinzo's character introduction#but this introduction is not coming from battler's thoughts/memories/observations but instead from the third party narrative#which is weird and bizarre when you start getting into the times and moments so far that we've broken away from battler's pov#those were kanon and shannon's first scenes and now this one#meaning that if you go by all that stuff i said in future chapters about pov/perspective#there is likely information in these moments that would be lost if relayed through battler's eyes#and yet is needed and relevant for us the reader to witness/understand#the common thread so far is that shannon kanon and kinzo are the ones positioned closest to beatrice#but what that means as to having their first scenes play out away from battler's viewpoint i am unsure of#because the hard part of umineko is figuring out if the battler pov narration is unreliable or if the third person narration is unreliable#just yeah. these three introduce themselves to the story at moments of narrative weirdness. no way this is not important

im unsure how i feel about toa as a series so far but by god does riordans writing amuse me
#trials of apollo#i dont like toa as much as i did hoo because it feels like a slight downgrade#because hoo was such a GRAND STORY that it would be hard to top like they literally schismed the gods. went to rome and greece#to HELL AND BACK#found A MYSTERY OF THE WORLD#and had to defeat the EARTH ITSELF#so toa is like a massive downgrade in scale like apollo is human and he has to overthrow capitalism TT like ok#and i dont find the characters as endearing im mainly talking about meg#shes growing on me but shes not really a character i care so much about#and also the way that hoo was written from multiple perspectives i think riordan really shined#i dont like riordans first person povs as much as i like his third persons#also i feel like the target audience age went down again so that may also be why#the books are a lot shorter and apollo just isnt as endearing as percy jackson yet#who was down to earth and funny despite some of his main graspable personality in the first couple being like haha one liner#i domt like apollo as much esp in his introduction but im sure it was the point#its just that its hard to like a character when you go from like 7 really endearing teens with interesting struggles to like#Literally a Stuck up god who cannot help self flagellating like every 3 words in the first chapter#hopefully i like it better by the end of this one (2nd book) cause i wasnt really into hoo until the end of son of neptune#and mark of athena and house of hades my beloved 🥺#AT LEAST LEOS IN THIS BOOK !!!!

Something about The Sandman having beings that are anthropomorphic personifications of concepts just as the mythological gods were personification of physical and conceptual phenomenon is so delicious. I love the absolutely complex relationships portrayed between the gods and the endless because they are all literally symbolic concepts personified with actual complicated relationships with each other, connected yet sometimes competing. Because they are not technically 'characters' they are concepts.

Character Introduction 1:
The individual alongside Kuren is named Nicholas Macblaine. He is 27 years old and the protagonist of this story.
He is the son of a globally renowned veterinarian who can treat even beastmen. While he himself holds a veterinary qualification, he lacks the authorization to examine beastmen.
In order to become a specialized veterinarian for beastmen, he journeyed to the far northern lands to become an apprentice and assistant under Dr. Sasha and Dr. Lindsey, a married couple who are both acquaintances of his father, authorities in beastmen research, and Kuren's adoptive parents.
Nicholas is an outstanding individual, but he lacks practical experience and has never directly interacted with real beastmen, despite his knowledge.
Kuren is a werewolf capable of freely changing forms: a skilled human form, a swift beast form, and a strong, large half-beast form.
When Nicholas first encountered Kuren, he approached the smaller human form of Kuren with a sense of security, attempting to greet him just as he would a human. However, as he extended his arm, Kuren transformed into a large half-beast form and nearly bit Nicholas. He was saved in the nick of time by Sasha, who said.
Sasha said to Nicholas.
"Beastmen are both human and beast, yet neither. It's like dealing with both human and animal simultaneously. A misjudgment could be fatal."
Kuren only trusts Dr. Sasha and Dr. Lindsey, displaying an aggressive attitude towards the outsider, Nicholas. For Kuren, the couple is both like parents and the unchallengeable leaders of their pack, which is why Kuren's behavior is stern towards Nicholas.
Kuren believed that an outsider weaker in the pack's hierarchy had joined, leading to his aggressive attitude towards Nicholas. Therefore, Sasha assigned a task to Nicholas.
"To make Kuren acknowledge you as having a higher position than him within two months. If you fail, you won't be able to work here and will have to return home."
Sasha's words are stern, but they also serve to protect Nicholas. It's not only for Nicholas's sake but to avoid the possibility of having to shoot and kill Kuren if he were to attack a human. Thus, with kindness and firmness, Sasha interacts with them, unwilling to compromise.
From there, a new life for Kuren, Dr. Sasha, Dr. Lindsey, and Nicholas begins in the far northern lands.
Nicholas does his best to foster a connection with Kuren, even sacrificing sleep. Yet, in their daily life, Kuren remains hesitant to trust Nicholas. However, on a day when Nicholas is entrusted with Kuren's walk, they encounter poachers hunting werewolves. Nicholas puts himself in harm's way to protect Kuren, piquing Kuren's interest in him. It doesn't take too long for them to become excellent partners. While Kuren still sees Nicholas as a subordinate, occasional displays of affection emerge.
Nicholas is allowed to learn under Dr. Sasha and Dr. Lindsey, and he grows while overcoming various challenges.
