Thank you @a-noble-dragon for the tag. This is a special note of thanks for @tyfinn, @characterassassination-at-9am, @beaiola, @jamilas-pen, @flowertrigger, @stargazer56, @legalgal421, and @chelle-68 for leaving comments on Blue Hydrangeas. I tried my best to comment during the Something Blue fest but time is sometimes unkind. (plus I was working my way through reading a long fic). Have a lil bit of the next Seashore installment.
I feel like I'm running terribly late but life is a lot sometimes.
"I can sit with you and Alexis!" David nods. Stevie helps him off stage. David walks backwards with Stevie there to guide him. He smiles at Patrick and blows him a kiss.
"All right. Next up, we have someone brand new to Open Mic Night. Everyone give a warm welcome to Patrick Brewer!" The crowd erupts again in applause.

Six Sentences Sunday! On Monday! Or Sunday still if you're in Hawaii.
Note to self: Do not try to write and do a WIP post on Tumblr in the same night. It won't happen. (Sigh.)
Thank you @ivelovedhimthroughworse, @katmiscellanious, @shrekgogurt, @you-remind-me-of-the-babe, and @rimeswithpurple for the tags today! I'm looking forward to reading/seeing what everyone is working on! Also thank you to everyone who's tagged me since my last Sunday post. Even when I can't post, I love tags - they help make sure I see the posts I really want to see.
I'm still (slowly) plugging away at my "Embrace the Silence" WIP. (Which has a dozen titles, depending on what song I'm listening to at the given moment.) Basics: Canon divergence fic exploring the ramifications of Baz successfully stealing Simon's voice in fifth year.
Side note: I got to see the touring company of Hamilton on Friday, and this whole setup gives me serious A. Burr/A. Ham vibes. But I could be projecting XD

“It’s enemy territory,” she said after a minute, ignoring a stop sign, and forgoing the use of her turn signal. “The Mage had you kidnapped by numpties. Morgana only knows what he could try next, and you’re stuck in a bloody masochistic haze of self-destruction.”
She wasn't entirely wrong, on either point. The Mage truly does resent my continued existence. It’s his right. The one thing, perhaps, we both agree on.
“What if I’m simply keeping my enemies close,” I said, doing my best to stretch my leg out in the cramped backseat. “And how exactly did you determine the Mage’s culpability in my kidnapping?”
She shrugged, meeting my eyes briefly in the rearview mirror. “Why wouldn’t it be him. He’s capable of anything.”
So are we.
I promise/hope really hard my fic won't be all angst, all the time. Levity happens when I'm able to spend time writing, getting into character, writing daily - things I'm not quite able to do yet. (Probably because I'm on Tumblr and Discord too much. It's basically the trolley problem on a less life-threatening scale.) So for now, it's angst, relatively pure and uncut.

Hopefully, Vlad will one day understand that he is a guest of the culture and not a fixture – that man has gotten way too comfortable in his position.
The Kendrick Lamar-Drake beef is the most exciting moment in music right now: On Saturday, K. Dot once again dragged Drake for utter filth with his latest diss track “Not Like Us.”
The battle has led to a nonstop flow of social media commentary, including by culture vulture DJ Vlad, who was better off keeping his opinion to himself.
On “Not Like Us” – which is an absolute club banger – Kendrick calls Drizzy a pedophile and an outsider to Black culture. “You run to Atlanta when you need a few dollars/No, you not a colleague, you f**kin’ colonizer,” Kendrick ruthlessly rapped.
Though DJ Mustard’s production was impeccable on “Not Like Us,” DJ Vlad, a white man who has profited from Black culture for years, chimed in to give his unwanted view on it. “Kendrick’s ‘Not Like Us’ needed a better mix. It takes away from the song,” he wrote on X.
Many responded to Vlad’s asinine tweet, including author and Princeton University professor Morgan Jerkins. “You are WHITE. This is a BLACK FOLK AFFAIR,” she wrote in a reply that went viral on X.
It took no time for DJ Vlad to channel his inner Karen and tag Jerkins’ university to snitch on her for hurting his feelings. “Wait, so a professor at @Princeton is telling me that a white person shouldn’t be allowed to voice their opinion about Hip-Hop? Is that how you interact with your students,” Vlad wrote.
Jerkins quickly responded: “What I’m saying is that you put your opinion in a discussion that’s not needed. This conversation is and should center Black people, not you.”
Of course, Vlad refused to take the hint or the L: He threatened to contact Jerkins’ place of employment.
“Don’t try to change your words now. I’ll be reaching out to @princeton about this on Monday.” Jerkins – who is the niece of music titan Rodney Jerkins –clarified that her semester was over and that her contract had been completed, prompting Vlad to say his complaint would be placed on “her permanent record” and that Jerkins had a “typical victim mentality.”
Vlad was immediately called out for threatening a Black woman for no reason other than telling him to mind his business. Ultimately, the Kendrick-Drake feud has sparked a larger conversation on Black culture and who authentically represents it.
On Monday, Vlad—who created VladTV to use Hip-Hop and Black culture to line his pockets for almost two decades—tried to backtrack. “I never had any intention of filing a complaint to Princeton for former professor Morgan Jerkins saying that white people aren’t allowed to comment on Kendrick Lamar’s music,” he wrote on X.
“She trolled me and I trolled back. At the end of the day, it created an interesting discussion about race relations in America. I will be discussing it further in my future interviews.” Obviously, this is a lie as he tagged Princeton in his replies to Jerkins.
Also, he has continuously misconstrued her words to make himself look like the victim—in typical Karen fashion. It’s not shocking for him to center himself in this complex topic in order to stay relevant, but going after a Black woman who rightfully embarrassed you is just embarrassing.
Hopefully, Vlad will one day understand that he is a guest of the culture and not a fixture – that man has gotten way too comfortable in his position.

The Map - Snippet
Here’s a cute little snippet from my Sirius & Harry Bonding Series in which Sirius and Remus talk about the Map.

On Christmas Eve, Sirius decides to play the piano that he had moved to the sitting room. Harry sits beside him, smiling even as he misses the keys. “I’m so bad at this.”
Sirius chuckles. “It takes time to learn – I wouldn’t expect you to be able to learn in an afternoon.”
“I learned flying in an afternoon,” Harry counters.
“That’s natural talent, general speaking it takes time to hone a new skill.”
“Yeah, I suppose.” Harry looks very disappointed and unhappy to be playing the piano with Sirius.
Sirius frowns, “If you don’t want to learn it – that’s okay.”
Harry shrugs, “You said that it was something you did when you were younger – so I am fine learning.”
“Kid, if you don’t want to learn – we don’t have to do it,” Sirius repeats. The last thing he wants to do is force something on Harry.
“But you want to teach me,” Harry replies, his eyes big and curious.
“I want to do something that we both enjoy,” Sirius counters. Harry’s making a face that tells him that he’s not exactly comfortable with the idea of voicing anything against what Sirius may want, so Sirius takes the initiative. “How ‘bout this? We can talk about the map and how it all works like I told you I would when we have the time.”
Harry lights up, evidently excited about learning more about his and James’ talents and efforts. “I’d like that.”
“Why don’t you go get it?” Sirius asks, and Harry doesn’t even hesitate to rush up the stairs to go get it.
“Er – Sirius,” George asks, hesitantly. “Why would you know anything about the map?”
“Because he’s Padfoot, obviously,” Harry says, back in record time. “That’s why I call him, ‘Pads’.”
“What did you do? Fly up and down the stairs?”
“I was excited,” Harry replies, looking a little sheepish.
Sirius is sure he just summoned the map since he knows his magic won’t register, but doesn’t want to get into trouble. “Alright, kid.”
Sirius turns to the twins and grins at the stunned look on the twins faces as Harry says the password and lays it out on the floor. They move to sit around it, including the twins, Ron, Ginny and Hermione.
“You never said –” George starts.
“It’s not my fault, you didn’t notice,” Harry states, stiffly. “I mean, Lupin and Pads haven’t exactly hidden it either – Lupin regularly calls him ‘Padfoot’ and Pads regularly calls him ‘Moony’.”
“Someone called?” Remus asks appearing in the doorway. “Is that the map? Why is it out now?”
“Harry has been curious about the map for some time, and I thought I’d explain a bit about what we did with it. How it came to be,” Sirius offers. “Why don’t you join us?”
“On the floor?” Remus questions, looking quite like he’d rather not sit on the floor. “I’m a little too old for that.”
Sirius gives him a look. “I’m older than you.”
Remus rolls his eyes, playfully, but still sits, smiling. “Only by a few months. Always reminding us that you’re the oldest.”
“And yet, I wasn’t the first name on the map,” Sirius jokes. He had spent months arguing that because he’s the oldest that he should get to have his name first on the map.
“If we had gone in birth order, it wouldn’t have sounded as well. It works better in the order it’s in,” Remus retorts.
“You’re just saying that because you’re first,” Sirius laughs. It was such a familiar argument that he could almost imagine being in the dormitory arguing the first time.
“No, Padfoot, Wormtail, Moony and Prongs just doesn’t roll off the tongue the way that Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs does,” Remus states. “It’s just a bonus that it means that I get to be first.”
They both laugh, before Sirius turns to the kids, particularly his kid. “So! First, we should probably start with why we created the map…”
“... it has nothing to do with the fact that we are nosy gits,” Remus finishes, trying to say it with a straight face and utterly failing.
They burst out laughing, before Sirius clears his throat. “We didn’t use the map for that, it was more that we just wanted to sneak around more confidently.”
