Nerdanel's Favorite Daughter-in-Law
Tumblr media
Pairing: Nerdanel and Maglor's Wife
Genre: Fluff
AN: Really wanted to write this because I feel soft.
Tumblr media
If someone asked Nerdanel about her favorite daughter-in-law, the redhead elleth would deny the possibility of having one or would vehemently insist on loving all her daughters-in-law equally.
But. There exists a But. There is one for whom Nerdanel feels greater. The most unexpected of the bunch. Makalaure's wife.
Your arrival had been, to state it lightly wildy unexpected. And maybe Nerdanel would have hated you for binding her son to a mortal but she could not.
You had come to Valinor bearing last fragment of Makalaure's soul. A part of her son that lived in your belly as your child. Nerdanel could have despised you for owning a part of her son but she could not.
Not when her son's presence has been a gift from you. How could she when you are a mortal who dared to give up the gift of Illuvatar for her son's sake.
Maybe that is why you were allowed to step on the soil that even the king of Nuemenor was forbidden.
So, Nerdanel finds herself endeared to you. Even when her eldest, Nelyafinwe, can not even bear to look your way. You are an Easterling from the lands and of the people that once betrayed Maitimo. The wounds of the past run deep and heal slow.
Yet, Nerdanel has found herself unable to hate you. Instead, she can't help but notice how you make the most convincing excuses to not attend a feast that seems to host most of Maitimo’s friends. A sacrifice made out of your will. Not even Makalaure notices it but Nerdanel does.
"Is y/n not coming?" Nerdanel asks Kano, who seems to have arrived dressed immaculately as always. His robes ironed and cuffs straightened. "No she sprained her foot the last minute, so I let her rest for today," Nerdanel knows well about these last-minute sprains that just seem to be a mortal thing. Right at the clap of the moment, Maitimo walks out dressed. "Let's go I'm ready," the one who had no plans on attending the feast seems to have dressed up as soon as the news of you not attending arrives. Maybe the rest did not notice but Nerdanel did. These intricacies of your behavior do not go unnoticed by her.
Nerdanel feels seething rage fill her when her son's words leave your eyes dull and your smiles forced. She knows well enough of lover's quarrel and arguments beyond that but she cannot bear seeing the lines of sadness etched on your face.
The unfairness of your despair tugs at Nerdanel's heart. "Can you not be a brute as such your father?" Nerdanel feels a headache build the more she talks to Makalaure. "But she-," "Makalaure she is alone here in a land foreign to her. Can you least be civil to the one who carries your child?" The carving tool in her hand feels dangerous for a lingering moment.
On nights when her own son's unfairness tugs her heart, Nerdanel seeks you. It isn't hard to find a mortal in Valinor. A mortal who stands out in a world full of immortals. Nerdanel seeks you.
You can't go far. So it isn't a surprise when she finds you in her own backyard. Perched next to blooming roses, Nerdanel can sense your heartbreak. Longing for a time and people long gone lines your eyes. It isn't an easy bargain, the one that you have made at your own cost. You stay here for her son, becoming his anchor you have submerged yourself into the seas of the unknown.
Now Nerdanel has never been much of a cook but today she sticks to her courage with the rounded bowl in her hands. Depositing herself next to you, Nerndal wonders if you can see her the way she can. She does not know the limits of mortal sight. "I hope you like this," gathering a morsel in her hand Nerndanel feeds you. And she feels the wetness of tears on her hands.
"Bibi," Nerdanel feels her heart stop at your words as you hug her. Bibi, the word for mother in your tongue. And Nerdanel hugs her daughter-in-law back. The only one who hugs her.
"My bibi used to make me choori, hot wheat bread mixed with jaggery and ghee. She used to feed me more than any of my brothers," your words from the past ring in her ears.
You have become more than a daughter-in-law, you have become a daughter.

Indis appreciation post!
Disclaimer: All the canon info is taken from Morgoth's Ring and Peoples of Middle Earth. Also, this isn't a character analysis/meta. It's just a list of stuff I love (plus some headcanons) about one of my favorite characters in the legendarium.
1. She's athletic and outdoorsy. We're told that Indis is "exceedingly swift of foot" and that "she walked often alone in the fields and friths of the Valar, turning her thought to things that grow untended." When Finwe sees her, she's chilling on a mountainside. I love that she's associated with nature, specifically the wilderness. She parallels Feanor in her exploration of Aman and interest in the imperfect. Also, this is purely self-indulgent but ever since reading HoME for the first time, I've pictured Indis as tall and broad, and muscular beneath a layer of fat.
2. She doesn't let her unrequited love affect her life. "There was ever light and mirth about her." She's not the pining, languishing princess stereotype. She goes on. She doesn't let it make her bitter or depressed, and she is so restrained that only Mandos and possibly Ingwe are aware of her feelings.
3. Part of her attraction to Finwe is intellectual. In HoME we're told that his "mastery of words delighted her." Considering that Indis is also a poet/composer ("wove words into song") and that the Vanyar enjoy linguistics, it makes sense. It's also just really cute.
4. She's politically minded. Her reasoning for pronouncing 's' instead of 'th' is: "I have joined the Noldor, and I will speak as they do." This is the right thing to do to gain the respect of the Noldor and their acceptance of her authority. I also think she makes a statement with Fingolfin and Finarfin's mother-names. Arakano ("high chieftain") and Ingoldo ("the Noldo, eminent among the kindred") are not only powerful, prophetic names, they're also strikingly similar to Ingwe ("chief of chieftains") who is the High King not just of the Vanyar, but all Eldar. What a power move.
5. She's able to balance her own culture with the culture she marries into. Indis integrates into Noldorin society easily while remaining Vanyarin at her core, as is evidenced by Finwe saying that "above all her heart now yearns for the halls of Ingwe and the peace of the Vanyar." Her sons also respect and are proud of their mixed heritage; Finarfin "loved the Vanyar, his mother's people" and is said to be like them (as are Finrod and Galadriel), and Fingolfin's daughter-in-law is Vanyarin (plus the Nolofinweans have a special connection to Manwe).
6. She gets an awesome prophecy about her line. "But I say unto you that the children of Indis shall also be great, and the Tale of Arda more glorious because of their coming. And from them shall spring things so fair that no tears shall dim their beauty; in whose being the Valar, and the Kindreds both of Elves and of Men that are to come shall all have part, and in whose deeds they shall rejoice. So that, long hence when all that here is, and seemeth yet fair and impregnable, shall nonetheless have faded and passed away, the Light of Aman shall not wholly cease among the free peoples of Arda until the end." Fuck yeah.
7. Her name means "valiant woman." This is the only definition given in Morgoth's Ring, I believe. I highly prefer it over the "bride" meaning because it's a badass name and is similar to Artanis ("noble woman") and Astaldo ("the valiant"). A headcanon that I'm particularly attached to is that Indis's mother-name is Indome, meaning "will of Eru."
8. She's popular with most of the Noldor. We're told that "Finwe, King of the Noldor, wedded Indis, sister of Ingwe; and the Vanyar and Noldor for the most part rejoiced." The majority of the Noldor also follow Fingolfin and Finarfin instead of Feanor.
9. She's friends with Nerdanel. HoME states that Nerdanel went to "abide with Indis, whom she had ever esteemed."
10. She gets pissed off at Finwe when he sides with Feanor. So much so that he thinks she won't want to see him if he's re-embodied. I know this is from his perspective but I'm inclined to agree. [However, this is still very presumptive of him, and his comment that "Indis parted from me without death" is super shitty. Eugh.]
11. She's close to her kids. Finarfin takes after her, Fingolfin passes on the name she gave him, Findis lives with her, Lalwen goes by the name she gave her. Finwe also says that "she hath dear children to comfort her."
So there we have it! What little info we get about Indis is pretty awesome. And this is just a list; I could write a whole essay on her fortitude and unconventionality and my numerous headcanons about her.

Feanor Walking You Down The Aisle
Tumblr media
Request: Hello, Mina darling, can I please request some small headcanons about asking Feänor to walk you down the aisle? The reader is marrying one of his sons (unmentioned) and she has no family in her life to do it, so she asks Feänor? Thank you for considering, darling. - Anon
A/N: This was fun to write! Thanks for requesting this!
Tumblr media
◈ Growing up without a stable family in your life left you with no one. Not once had you ever felt welcomed or a part of the community until you met one of the Princes of the Noldor. A son of the Crown Prince Fëanáro fell in love with you without questioning your background at all.
◈ His family did all that they could to make you feel welcome, not to mention his brothers ensuring that you were a victim of all their daily bullying and antics to make you feel even more like family.
◈ His mother pitied and loved you tremendously, wanting nothing more than to take you in immediately. Nerdanel was ecstatic when she learnt of the betrothment news, meaning that you were about to become an official family. However, there was just one issue at hand, a lack of a father to walk you down the aisle and give you away to your husband.
◈ The only stable male figure in your life was your betrothed’s father and you were unsure if he would be willing to walk down the aisle and give you away to his son. Not once were you on the receiving end of his temper or ill-manners a few people had spoken about, so it seemed all well to make the request.
◈ You’re nervous about the request, so you ask your betrothal if he could arrange a brunch or tea for all three of you to meet as the wedding is approaching. There, you sat, appearing like a bag of jitters before Feanor who was confused at your uneasiness.
◈ In the beginning, everything was running smoothly at the behest of your beloved. Aware of your nerves, he took over and got the conversation rolling between him and his father, occasionally including you at certain times appropriate to throw the question out there.
◈ But you’re unable to for the greater part of the conversation. So Feanor interjects, aware that you have something on your mind and requests if he should depart to give you and his son alone time to deal with the matter.
◈ At his thoughtfulness, your words tumbled out your mouth before you even knew it, and there you confessed your wish to have him walk you down the aisle as your father.
◈ On Feanor’s end, he was appalled that you would have considered him so high in your eyes to fulfil that offer. Being seen not only as your father-in-law but as an actual fatherly figure makes him forego considering and directly accepting.
◈ He ignores the fact that you blurted it out in a vomit of random syllables and removes himself from his chair to usher you into a stance. He is gentle and soft as he celebrates your request with a fatherly embrace and soft words that put him into a chokehold.
◈ “You have brought great joy to me onya. It would be foolish of me to reject your wonderful offer.”
◈ On your big day, any nerves that you had were all washed away by Feanor’s presence at your side as he stood at the end of the aisle bequeathing courage and reassurance that he won’t let you fall or slip up. “It is a father’s job to never let his child fall.”
◈ Your entire wedding ceremony passes in bliss as Feanor takes his time to guide you down the aisle, he even offers his handkerchief to you when you teared up at the altar. During the entire ceremony, he sits patiently with a smile at the memory of walking you down the aisle as his child.
◈ Furthermore, to sink it in that you consider him as a father figure, for the father-daughter dance, you request that he join you on the floor to share that moment with you.

DRAMATIC & PROTECTIVE RELATIONSHIP PROMPTS
*Listen to me! I know what I'm doing! (Feanoro/Nerdanel) (He probably doesn't, really.)
DRAMATIC & PROTECTIVE RELATIONSHIP PROMPTS
Fëanáro put the bottle of mulled wine loudly upon the long table. Loud enough to call the attention of all of his sons and brother-sons and four apprentices and his wife, Nerdanel -- but not strong enough to break the bottle and waste the excellent vintage. Dishes upon dishes of excellent food (cooked for tonight courtesy of Findekáno and Turukáno) littered the long table, but dinner was already well under way and so the table itself was already half-chaotic.
Rose dusts Fëanáro's cheek. He is tipsy. That perfect, balanced state of being cheerful enough he can indulge near everyone for near everything, if they knew how to ask nicely. If Nolofinwë was present and was also in a similarly tipsy state, a miracle could have been achieved at that very moment: their reconciliation. But as it is, the chance will pass, simply because only Findekáno and Turukáno are here, and their Atar far away back in Tirion.
"Who's up for story telling?" Fëanáro demands, looking at everybody there by the long table. "Come on. I'm feeling generous tonight."
Findaráto, ever the opportunist in these occassions, is quick to pipe up: "Tell us about how you caught Aunt Nerdanel's attention! Love story!"
Curufinwë, only six years old and currently sitting on Findaráto's lap (the two often shared meals on the same plate. Care of Curufinwë was actually left to Turukáno and Findaráto, but for some inexplicable reason, Curufinwë preferred Findaráto more and could not stand Turukáno!), is quick to take up the chant: "Love story! Love story! Love story!"
"Ai! No!" Nerdanel whines, hiding behind her strong hands.
Maitimo quickly stands, picks up his fork, and hits his glass, and soon all of their sons and brother-sons were taking up the great cry: "Love story! Love story! Love story!"
Even Turko hammers his hands on the table. "Love story!!!"
Fëanáro stands, sways, and takes a mighty swig from the bottle of mulled wine. "When I was first taken in by your Grandfather Mahtan!" He declares, his powerful orator's voice sweeping over everybody there present, such that they saw the events as they had transpired, in their mind's eyes. "I was every inch a Noldorin Prince! Attended hand and foot by servants! Bahhh! I had carriage! A team of horses! A nursemaid who brushed my hair, and a groom who dressed me! A prince, damn it!
"Now! My law-father Mahtan-- he believed in practical education! A great craftsman, who was then commissioned for his works by the Valar themselves! Why, he was even as rich as my Atar Finwë! But he had no servants! No attendants! Chores--" Here, a hiccup, but Fëanáro brushes that aside by taking another big swig of the mulled wine. "--Chores were! Done! By his daughters! And sons! And! Apprentices!"
"To the apprentices, who help run the household!" Findaráto declares, and everybody toasts the apprentices, and even Carnistir claps and wolf-whistles.
Nerdanel now takes a big gulp of her own wine from her goblet.
"Your Amil! Amillllll! Your Amil was the only child of Mahtan's to eye me in distaste! And! I overheard her! Complaining! To her sisters-- that my servants crowded their house, and--- can you imagine this-- she questioned my worth as an Elf because I could not cook my own food! Ai! Nerdanel!!!!"
Nerdanel hides once more behind her hands, just as her sons and brother-sons all echoed a long and loud 'oooooooooooooooooohhhhh!'
Fëanáro juts out his lower lip in a pout and jabs at his own chest with a thumb. "But! I am Fëanáro! Curufinwë Fëanáro, at that! Shall I quail before the challenge of the elleth?"
"No!" His sons and nephews all cheer. "Never!"
"That's right! Never!" Fëanáro echoes. "So I dismissed my attendants and servants! And I rolled up my sleeves, damn it, and the next thing your beautiful Aunt knows, I am hounding her in the kitchen, asking her to teach me how to cook! Ha! I pestered her! I did! I did! Nerdanel, for the benefit of everybody here present-- what did you say to me?"
Nerdanel murmurs something that sounded like: you don't know what you're doing.
"Bahhhh!" Fëanáro collapses back down onto his chair. "And I told her-- I said-- I said-- listen to me! I know what I'm doing!"
"What were you trying to cook, Uncle?" Findekáno asks, grinning.
"Pie!" Fëanáro points to his brother-son. "Apple pie! I was not going to let this beautiful elleth insult me and get away with it! I will learn chores, and I will make her teach me! Excellent modus, you see, always works," here, he winks at the table at large, to the howling laughter of his sons and nephews. Even little Curufinwë laughed.
"What happened to the pie?" Angamaitë now asks. "Did it get baked?"
"Of course not!" Fëanáro says, standing again, eyes widening in outrage. "What happened, Angamaitë -- was that I blew up my master's kitchen, covered me and your aunt in soot, and sent her mother chasing me with an axe!"
Laughter. Only laughter could be heard, and Nerdanel is soon on her feet, and pulling the bottle of wine from her husband's reaching hands and fingers.
"Nooooooo!" Fëanáro weeps. "Why is the wine always gone!?"
"That is enough Fëanáro! Enough! Maitimo! Makalaurë -- help your father-- take him to our suites-- now!"
"I'm not drunk! Nerdanel! How dare you send me away from my own damn supper table--"
"Alright, Atar, let's go, that's enough wine," Maitimo stands once more, and he and Makalaurë team up and drag Fëanáro upstairs to the safety of his suites.
"But I'm not drunk," Fëanáro sniffles, leaning on Makalaurë's shoulder. "I'm not, right, son?"
"Yes you are, Atar," Makalaurë patiently explains. "Now come on-- nap that off and you'll perhaps wake up in time for the evening coffee. Off we go."

Of Stone and Memories
Elrond stumbles upon a garden in one of Tirion's many gardens. What he finds there shocks him.
Rating: G
Elrond had been enjoying his day of peace and quiet, taking a stroll through the gardens of Tirion, exploring his new home. Finrod, his uncle - and wasn't that an odd thing to think about, having the historical figure standing in front of him, talking to him, and calling him family - was explaining to Elrond all the different plants that were growing here and why. There were carefully tended pools of sea plants dotting the garden showering the garden in color, flowers bloomed unhindered by stones.
“- And of course we have Queen Miriel’s garden.” Finrod says as he gestures at an archway. “It's different.”
Elrond moves to the arch to peer inside and freezes. “Oh.”
Finrod is there immediately. “Is it okay? Do you think he would have liked it?” He worries. “Do… Do you like it?”
Elrond feels a lump already forming in his throat. He steps into the garden in a daze. “I…” He stumbles towards the statues. “Who made this?”
“Aunt Nerdanel. She insisted it be here, and well, no one could really say no.”
Elrond's breath stutters and he tries to calm himself as he lifts a hand to caress the statue's face. “Elros…”
“Is it… Is it okay?” Finrod worries. “We weren't sure if it would be okay…”
“It's wonderful, Findarato.” Elrond shudders as he presses his forehead against the cool stone. “When I left Middle-Earth I thought I’d be leaving the last of his memory. I had a statue in my garden that had been there since I built Imladris. It was the first of the non-essentials made. I-” Elrond chokes. “It's perfect. How did she know what he looked like?”
“Vairë’s tapestries, I believe.”
“Where does she live?”
“Ehm, I can take you, if you wish.”
“Please. I need- I need to thank her.”
"Perhaps tomorrow. She prefers a warning before having guests."
"Of course." Elrond says in a daze as he traces the statues features, the small wrinkles at the corner of his brother's eyes from smiling so much, the stern expression of a king set forever in stone.
“Elrond?” Turgon calls worriedly as he sees a teary eyed Elrond walking towards the castle. “Are you alright?”
Elrond doesn't respond and pushes past him towards Celebrian.
Finrod is the one to explain to the worried relatives. “He found Miriel’s garden.”
“Oh.” Turgon rubs his face. “Is he mad?”
“No. Delighted, shocked, and sad. He thought he was going to have to leave the memory of his brother behind when he sailed. I believe that he loves it. He wishes to speak with Aunt Nerdanel though. I got him to delay the visit until tomorrow so that we can tell her to expect guests. His manners forced him to agree.”
Turgon nods. “Stay with him, I’ll go drop in on her and tell her. The Iluvatar only knows how much Elrond doesn't like me.”
“It's not that he doesn't like you, Turgon. It's that looking at you reminds him of what he believes he can never have.” Galadriel sighs.
“What can Elrond not have? No one would withhold anything from him.”
“Family. He can't have his family.” Galadriel looks at her son-in-law mournfully. “I’ll go talk to Aunt Nerdanel. I have to commission another statue from her. Their daughter chose mortality.”
“Oh… Oh.” Turgon sighs. “I got to keep my family, Idril and Tuor were allowed to live together forever and he has to lose everyone to it. Tuor who was fully mortal. Oh Elrond…”
Galadriel pats her cousin's shoulder in comfort as she brushes past them and down into the streets of Tirion. She had an aunt to find and a statue to commission.

Your elf returns from the dead and finds you with a child
Tumblr media
(Here you go. Excuse the bad tittle, I couldn't come up with anything better. Maedhros, Celegorm, Argon and Finrod are our special guests here. I felt like they would fit the consept of the requests. Theres a lot of angst in Maedhros’s and Celegorm’s part, so be warned. Enjoy!)
Requested by Anonymous
Warnings; marriage, fluff, death, angst, divorce, and complicated family life.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maedhros
-When you two met and fell in love, it was love at first sight. Maedhros hadn't been interested in anyone before, counting how many people asked him to court them, but something about you got his heart hammering like a drum.
-You were a bit shy, which he thought was cute. You were charming when you got comfortable around him. Throwing jokes and keeping him on his toes excited him and made him even more interested in you.
-He stole your heart for helping you around social situations and being kind, so you silently had a crush on him but hated it because you thought he was out of your league.
-However, he mustered the courage to ask you to court him, and you said yes.
-Your courtship laster for a long time, filled with love and adoration for each other. It all ended up in a happy marriage.
-His family accepted you. Nerdanel adored you, but having Feanor's approval was tough at first, but eventually, he softened up for you.
-After being married for a long time, you two finally considered starting a family. Unfortunately, that would never happen when the darkening happened, and Maedhros swore the oath to retrieve his father's silmarils.
-You had a bad feeling about the ordeal and tried to convince your husband of it. Arguments took place between you, then the kin slaying happened, and you refused to go with him to middle earth.
-Maedhros was heartbroken but still left with his father, leaving you on the shores of Valinor.
-Heartbroken and alone, you seek out your mother-in-law for comfort and help.
-Your family had left with Feanor's host, and most of your friends had left with Finfolfin's host, so you were all alone.
-Your other friends from Teleri and Vanyar would not trust you after what happened.
-Nerdanel welcomed you with open arms and let you stay with her.
-Your grief didn't take a good toll on you, especially when you found out a few months later that you were pregnant.
-You and Maedhros had been trying for a baby but had some complications. Your little one came at the worst time possible.
-It griefed you to the end that Maedhros wasn't going to meet his child, but for the sake of your baby, you pulled yourself together.
-After nine months, your daughter was finally born.
-She had her father's hair, which pained you, but you still loved her.
-You missed Maedhros terribly, but you stopped thinking about him and dedicated yourself raising your precious little girl.
-Nerdanel was a great help and was happy to be a grandmother. She took over whenever you needed rest.
-When Maedhros was released, he sought you out. Even though; he was afraid of how the encounter might go.
-He didn't expect to see you conversing with a young elleth, who kinda looked like you but with red hair.
-You felt rage when you saw him, and you became even madder when he thought you moved on and had a child with another.
-You smacked him with a book, calling him names and blaming him for leaving a child with you.
-It would take him a moment to realize that you were pregnant when he left, and the young confused elleth beside you was his grown-up daughter.
-He would feel happy but regretful. He left you alone to carry the burden, and he wasn't there for his daughter.
-It was just another addition to what he failed in his life.
-Reconnecting you wasn't easy. All the Anger you suppressed came out like a volcano, so you were constantly pissy with him.
-His daughter was angry with him too, and obviously inherited your temper, so he had two elleths constantly mad at him.
-His daughter didn't accept him at first. He had been gone for her entire life, and sometimes she had been bullied for being related to him.
-She was also mad that he left you to suffer all alone.
-Maedhros would feel even more guilty but tried to fix things with you and bond with his child.
-Things would slowly turn for the better, and you stopped feeling angry.
-Love would finally return, and even his daughter slowly accepted him. Things were good at last.
Celegorm
-You're not sure what possessed you to marry an elf-like him.
-He was loud and wild, while you were quiet and calm.
-He was a childhood friend, and over time, when you both grew up, you accepted when he asked to court you and soon got married.
-You did have a healthy relationship and say you both were very much in love. Even though; he sometimes annoyed your existence.
-He sometimes had the intelligence of a rock, so you were the brains in the relationship.
-He never mistreated you, but all went down when the darkening happened, and he swore an oath.
-He had turned into another elf and seemed to enjoy the havoc and blood he spilled when he slew his kin.
-You were frightened and refused to go with him.
-An argument broke out, and you ran away when he raised his sword at you, thinking he was going to kill you.
-Celegorm wasn't going to hurt. His temper got out a bit when you argued, raising his sword at you. He got confused and almost regretted it when you ran away from him.
-Turning his back on you, he left and joined his father and brothers to sail to middle earth.
-You turned on your mother-in-law and Curufin's wife for comfort and didn't have a good time. You then found out that you were expecting, which made the feeling worse.
-It scared you, and you fell into depression. You highly considered getting rid of the child than having a reminder of what your husband had become.
-Luckily, Nerdanel was there to support you and stop you from making a decision you might have regretted.
-You held on until you gave birth to your twin sons, who looked like their father.
-You allowed Nerdanel to look after your sons and went to seclusion for rest and collect yourself. You weren't ready to be a mother. You did have talks about having children with Celegorm before, but they came at the wrong time.
-It took you a long time to get out of depression, but you finally managed to collect yourself with enough help and therapy and went to see your sons.
-Your twin boys were precious and the brightest things. You regretted even considering getting rid of them and thanked Nerdanel for convincing you to keep them.
-You learned to love your boys and finally managed to live without thinking about Celegorm.
-Sometimes, Orome comes to check on you and your sons. He wanted to help you out a little. He was confused in the beginning since he didn't have experience with elven babies, but he soon got the hang of it and was a great help.
-He became like a grandpa figure to them.
-He knew about your terrible breakup with Celegorm and was saddened that Celegorm left you the burden of raising your sons alone. He felt like he failed to mentor Celegorm into a good elf. So Orome thought he should repay you for the damage his apprentice caused you.
-You knew the language of the birds and animals, so they kept you informed about what your husband was doing in middle earth. He had done many terrible things, but the moment when he kidnapped and lusted after an elven princess was the breaking point.
-You became unbelievably upset and wanted to break off the marriage bond.
-You needed a lot of therapy to get over your former husband.
-When Celegorm was finally allowed to leave the halls of Mandos, you didn't seek him out.
-Celegorm found you with Huan and a pair of twins he did not recognize. He already thought the worst things, so he demanded an explanation.
-You weren't happy to see him, especially when he behaved aggressively toward your boys.
-You told him they were your sons, then Celegorm had the audacity to blame you for moving on with another like your marriage meant nothing.
-Your sons took him down because they thought he was threatening you, and Celegorm was nothing against your son's united strength.
-You kicked him in the face, yelling and telling him he was the one who left you pregnant.
-Celegorm would feel shocked and slowly realize the truth. He would finally feel stupid and try to reconcile.
-Luckily, Orome was there to break you up before it escalated.
-You had no interest in reconnecting or re-creating the marriage bond, so you both needed a lot of couple therapy.
-Celegorm would have a hard time connecting with his sons. They were shocked and felt embarrassed he was their father.
-They were mad at him for causing you so many problems and emotional damage.
-Celegorm would feel the joy that his sons shared a passion for hunting and Orome had gifted them hounds of their own, but the fact they refused to acknowledge him as their father didn't sit well.
-They sometimes slandered him about the oath and everything he did in middle earth. They would have cut their throat than embarrassed their mother as he did.
-Orome refused to help Celegorm out. He told his former apprentice it was time to take responsibility for his actions.
-So yeah, your family life had a rough start. You refused to take him back, wanting to stay in divorce and his sons were mama's boys. He has a lot to do to have a good life.
Argon
-Argon was the second one in his family to get married when he fell in love with you.
-He was shy and blushed easily, and those were one of his perks you so much adored about him.
-He almost fainted when he asked you to marry him.
-You two talked about starting a family, and he was excited about it but was worried he would be a bad father. His family tried to be supportive, but they didn't help much because he got even more worried.
-When the darkening happened, and Argon was going to leave with his family, you begged him to stay. You had a bad feeling in your gut that something terrible would happen to him.
-He was almost convinced to stay with you, but in the end, he still left with the host of his father.
-You were heartbroken and stayed with his mother for the time being. The feeling became worst when you found out that you were expecting.
-It was hard, but with the support of Anaire and your friends, you managed to pull yourself together for the sake of your child.
-Months later, your daughter and son were born.
-It was a surprise that you were expecting twins since none of the healers noticed, but it didn't make you love them any less. They were beautiful, and Anaire was ecstatic to have grandchildren.
-It was tough at first since it was your first time being a mother, but luckily Anaire was there to help, so you had nothing to worry about.
-Some years later, not too long ago, maiars came to your doorsteps and told you about your husband.
-Argon died in a battle and had been in the halls of Mandos ever since, but since he had committed no other evil. Valars considered releasing him if you wanted him back.
-He was to suffer the doom of the Noldor, but the valars considered giving him a second chance so he could be in your children's life.
-You accepted the offer and grabbed your children to meet their father.
-When you reached the halls of Mandos, Argon was there, waiting for you. He was ecstatic when he saw you but got very confused when seeing your daughter and son.
-The meeting became awkward because he thought you moved on and had children with another.
-You laughed, calling him an idiot. You explained your daughter and son were his. You didn't have time to meet someone else.
-Argon would blush in embarrassment. He apologized and hugged his children.
-He would cry happy tears and apologize several times to you for being a terrible husband. He would have never left if he knew you were pregnant.
-You got over it a long time ago. You were just happy to have Argon back, and your children have a chance to have a father in their lives.
Finrod
-You were from the Teleri and a peculiar one as many would describe you.
-When you two met, Finrod enjoyed the breeze and the sounds of the sea on a rock, and then you appeared and unexpectedly jump-bombed in the water.
-Finrod was taken by your act and couldn't help but observe as you played with friendly reef sharks.
-He was captivated by your energy and loved the sound of your laughter.
-He couldn't help but greet you and join you for fun.
-It was a fun swim for both of you.
-You recognized him right away when he told his name because you knew his mother from parties your family attended.
-The reason why Finrod had not seen you before was that you were a bit of an oddball and didn't like to socialize much. You always preferred going for a swim and playing with sharks.
-Finrod became enamored with you, and when you started seeing each other, you started courting, which led him to ask for your hand in marriage.
-It felt like Finrod was following his father's footsteps and married a graceful swan maiden, but in the place of a swan. He married a wild shark maiden.
-His family adored you and got along perfectly with Galadriel, who was suspicious of you at first, but soon became fast friends.
-Finarfin didn't mind his son marrying someone from a lower class. He saw how happy you made Finrod, and he didn't have the heart to break you up just because you weren't from an influential family. So Finarfin was very welcoming.
-When the darkening happened, and the flight of Noldor took place, Finrod convinced you to stay because he felt you would only suffer if you came along. He wanted you to stay in the safety of Valinor.
-The separation was heartbreaking, but you stayed behind as Finrod left with his kin.
-You missed him every day, then the shocking thing happened when you found out that you were pregnant.
-You were ecstatic about the news, but your family didn't receive it well and told you not to keep the child. They pressured you that keeping the child would only cause suffering and a bad reputation because Finrod was still part of Noldor.
-Frightened and saddened by the reaction of your family, you decided to seek help from your in-laws, who still resided in Valinor.
-Finrod's parents were supportive and helped you to get through it. Months later, your son was finally born.
-When Finrod returned from the halls of Mandos and was allowed to walk upon Valinor again, he sought you out and found you living with his parents, and there was a young ellon beside you.
-He was happy to see you, and the reunion was heart-filled, but he needed to take a quick look at the elf teenager beside you.
-The ellon looked like him but with your hair since it was lighter and less blond.
-Finrod would quickly connect the dots and remember sensing life within you when you two parted. He would smile and finally hug his son.
-Your son would be confused and not recognize his father until you told him Finrod was his father. He would softly cry and hug his father back in happiness.
-You would all become a one-happy hug pile, and everything was well.

What if Beren and Luthien were genderbent?
Ooh, that's an interesting question.
Now, forewarning: this is just a bunch of theories and personal thoughts on the matter so don't take this as canon. It is rooted in what we do know of the families involved and a bit in how social structures work in the setting, but in this case it is completely me talking out of hand about this.
Names. This is a big thing to me because I love names and this will help me keep the idea separate from canon. Luthien is Quenyan for "flower-daughter" so let's go with one of the Quenyan suffixes for males… Luthion sounds good if a bit too on the nose. Another option for flower are Lot/Loth from Ninquelótë, Númellótë, and Vingilot. So Lótëmon? Now Beren was named after his maternal grandfather, but since I don't know his grandmother's name we'll go up the tree for his great-grandmother Adanel. I'm guessing his mother Emeldir got naming rights to go with Beren instead of him getting named after Bregor. Admittedly Lotemon and Adanel might not roll off as easily as Luthien and Beren but they work for this post.
Brief Discussion of Upbringing: Beren and Luthien Beren, or Adanel now as this will be easier. While Artanis (or Galadriel as we know her) is the biggest Noldorian female who stands out in my memory with the next one being Nerdanel who was the wife of Feanor who deserves her own loredump post, the laws of succession in Numenor which in turn are basically spread to the civilizations of Man to varying degrees in the known lands of Middle Earth are cribbed off of those of the Noldor. Which is why I'm bringing two Noldor elves up here. Basically titles go paternally to the nearest male descendant although in the case of a female eldest child she still receives family heirlooms as her birthright. (Doesn't make up for it but whatever.) Although I do remember there being a case where there were several older daughters onto whom one of the Numenorian kings tried to pass the title to but their grandmother spooked them like some grammas tend to do, so they refused and the title went to their younger brother. Now here's the fun bit: Beren's mother (much like Luthien's Melian) Emeldir is a BAMF. Her name and her title both basically were "the man-hearted woman". So Emeldir without doubt kicked ass, lived to at least 50 going by the events surrounding Dagor Bragollach (the Battle of Sudden Flame), and I like to think she raised Beren to understand important stuff like consent and a refusal being just that. So while I think that "Adanel" would be treated just as Beren would, she wouldn't get exactly the same equal treatment. But given her mother, her father would likely try anyway. So Beren's life as a woman would be largely unchanged. Luthien, or as she'll be here "Lótëmon", is still the only child of Thingol and Melian. Still half-maia, still likely beautiful and fairer beyond everything. Still probably has a thing for tall, broad shouldered, and golden-brown half-feral people spotted in the forest. Maybe a little more leeway when it comes to things and hopefully not kidnapped (which would mean no Huan) but considering he'll still be Beautiful and how beauty is often coveted in the setting… I suspect that "Lotemon" will also live largely the same life.
Quest and Future Rather than demanding the Silmaril as the brideprice, perhaps it is instead just a proof of strength or resoluteness or something. Again, Thingol would've probably thought Beren/"Adanel" would actually be able to do it but the sheer balls to go through with it and return with that damn bold claim of it being indeed still in hand when they return… The knockoff effects for the future will be different though. Luthien and Beren's story was fairly unusual and set the stage for an elf choosing a mortal, and a mortal pursing something dangerous in the name of love. A man may be viewed as brave in some societies/civilizations by their fellow men while a woman instead deemed foolish for the same actions which is disgusting but there it is. A woman using beauty to bewitch her enemies would be 'sexy' while a man doing the same would be different and perhaps seen as underhanded. Although it would be one of the goodside counterparts to Sauron's wiles and paint the idea that cleverness such as that is not always in service of selfish cruelty. It's possible that instead of singing of Luthien's beauty they'd be singing of "Lotemon" and his cunning. There's also some slightly different implications of the mortal woman dying and waiting for her love who when he joins her has to fight for the right for them to stay together in death or in life. This also means that Thingol taking in Turin would have a few more connotations of replacing his lost son instead of caring for a second child who is different from his daughter. So maybe Turin would be even more eager to run out to fight since he doesn't want to be seen as a pale shadow to "Lotemon".
TLDR Different names, slightly different upbringings, somewhat different after effects, but since the Song is a thing and the Silmarils are still a big big thing with the characters then the story would likely stay largely the same.

Favourite Female Tolkien Character Poll - Round 3, Match 2
The two polls today are for favourite Finwëans! Interestingly, three out of the four Finwëans who made it to this round - Eärwen and Anairë here, and Nerdanel in the other poll - are all sisters-in-law, the wives of Finarfin, Fingolfin, and Fëanor. The fourth character is Galadriel, who faces off against Nerdanel in the other poll.
Eärwen
The daughter of King Olwë of Alqualondë. Marries Finarfin, and their kids are Finrod, Angrod, Aegnor, Orodreth (in some versions) and Galadriel. The Noldor slaughter her people in the First Kinslaying and steal the Teleri swan-ships. Finarfin turns back and returns of Valinor after the Doom of the Noldor, but all her children continue on to Beleriand, and all except Galadriel die there.
Anairë
Wife of Fingolfin, named in The Peoples of Middle-earth (History of Middle-earth Vol. 12).
Fingolfin’s wife Anairë refused to leave Aman, largely because of her friendship with Eärwen wife of Arafinwë [Finarfin] (though she was a Noldo and not one of the Teleri).

OTHER NOTES:
Tumblr media
Cóloniélë is maia of Nienna - Nienna and Cóloniélë are almost close as mother and daughter. She has the ablity to heal people mentally. She touches them and heals them mentally - helps them get over their fear or stress and guilt. But it inflicts on her - she feels their pain and it flows through like liquid fire in her veins - she cries and screams the worse they are - or faints if she cannot take it.
Niélë used to be lively and happy - her most precious memory is meeting Nerdanel, she was the happiest then and slowly fell in love with the daughter of Mahtan too.
She never liked Fëanor - or how close he was trying to get to Nerdanel.
But just as when she was about to confess her feelings, Fëanor had won Nerdanel’s heart - it had completely shattered her, especially when they decided to get married at their young age. Niélë had to watch Nerdenel get married and never be able to have her heart - as elves only loved once. Nienna tried her best to comfort her, but what can soothe a broken heart?
Niélë is devasted and hates Fëanor completely when he takes the oath with their sons- leaving Nerdanel heartbroken and left behind – she tries to comfort her while keeping her feelings hidden – she never reveals not wanting to burden her. Plus – since elves only love once, so Niélë will never have her chance. . .
Niélë travels to middle earth sometimes to give comfort as ordered by Nienna - when she returns Nerdanel asks her about her sons and unfortunately, Niélë never has good news for her until the time Maedhros and Maglor had taken in the Peredhil twins.

Daughter-in-law of Feanorian Household (Maedhros x Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: a glimpse of how do your in-laws see your relationship with Maitimo.
genre: fluff
Tumblr media
Some people are born to love, with the perfect recipe to find their other half. It's truly satisfying to witness their love. Even Tyelkormo, the gremlin of the Feanorian household, could see it. You and Nelyo were annoyingly good for each other. Every moment he witnessed you two together, he couldn't help but notice how beautifully the world shaped itself around you and his eldest brother.
Seated on the farthest couch, he observes as you follow Nelyo, trailing behind him with a befuddled look. Of course, his brother was late for court, again. "By Illuvatar!" Nelyo exclaims, one minute away from turning over the living room. "I swear I left my brooch here." The redhead is busy turning over the entire cabinet and you merely turn to wink at Tyelko, who remains mildly amused.
Tyelko watches as you walk to his mountain of a brother and gently turn him, whispering, "Here," as you open your fist with the brooch magically resting in it. "You forgot to take it off last night," you add as Nelyo returns to normal. Standing on your toes, you pull Nelyo closer, and for a moment, Tyelko wonders if he should leave, but he stops when you clip the brooch on Nelyo's cloak.
Tyelko can't help but witness the adoration in his brother's eyes, the soft look that melts with Laurelin's rays. For the next hour, he finds himself unable to move as he observes the subtle dance between you and Nelyo. It's as if you know his brother's needs better than Nelyo himself. His brooch, his papers, his quill, his satchel. Nelyafinwe's world revolves around you.
Tumblr media
Nerdanel quickly figures out that her eldest is sulking, but the realization leaves her gawking at an unfinished statue. Maitimo doesn't notice the change in her expression, and thank Illuvatar for that! By some miracle, Nerdanel doesn't drop her chisel.
"I mean I've already looked over all the arrangements for the month. I've finished my court duties. Yet, I can't go," Maitimo drapes himself over the nearest chaise.
It's barely been two days since you left to visit your parents, a visit that is supposed to last a month. A month that Nerdanel suspects won't come to fruition if left to her eldest. "I barely have anything to do, amil," Maitimo whines. He's whining! Nerdanel finds herself with a 500-year-old elfling moping next to her, all because he misses you. He came to her to complain or maybe hear the words he really wanted - a suggestion to visit you.
Ai, Maitimo. Nerdanel resists the urge to coo at her son. Her son has always been the responsible one, and to watch him like this...Nerdanel can't help but find it endearing. Today, she won't give him the satisfaction of the answer he craves. For now, she wants to enjoy watching her son act petulantly.
Maybe tomorrow she would 'suggest' him to visit you.
Tumblr media
The first time Maitimo brought Kano to meet you, he wore his best clothes. Kano, being a prince, had plenty of good tunics to choose from, so he carefully weighed the merits of each piece of clothing in his wardrobe the day before meeting you.
He had been excited to get an inside scoop on Maitimo's secret before any of his other brothers. Even his amil and atar had yet to find out.
But then, Makalaure met you in an unsuspecting garden, and a normal day turned into a life-changing event. He knew from the moment he met you that you were special to his brother and why.
You were kind and attentive, complimenting Kano on his tunic and listening intently to his compositions, praising every one of his songs. In Kano's eyes, you were the only one worthy of his brother.
Maitimo was all smiles, a contrast to his usual mid-day scowl. Kano noticed his brother's meticulously brushed and intricately braided hair, as well as the ruby hairpin holding your hair back. The lifted corners of his brother's mouth were enough indication that Maitimo was pleased. Immensely pleased must he add.
Even now, Kano can remember your shocked expression and Maitimo's flustered mumbling when he accidentally called you "nesa" at the end of your first meeting.
It didn't take long before you became Kano's nesa, his first sister-in-law, and the one he felt closest to.

Thinking about an Age Swap!Grandchildren of Finwe, and I want to share with you a snippet :)) I just think that a lot would change about the dynamics of Finwe's house if the ages were reversed:
-----------
No matter how hard we try, history can never perfectly repeat itself a second time. History is built on relationships and experiences and reactions and feelings and so many many different perspectives. But most importantly, history is built on chance. A roll of a dice. Coincidence.
Within the story we know, it was a coincidence that Maedhros, the natural born leader and tragic villain of the feared Sons of Feanor, was the eldest of Finwe’s grandsons. His birth and upbringing and personality and his relationship set the stage for the story that unfolds.
But what if he wasn’t? What if that dice role landed differently? What if instead of the eldest, he’s the youngest of Finwe’s grandchildren? Instead of Maedhros, Fingon, and Finrod being the eldest of their siblings, it’s Ambarussa, Argon, and Galadriel?
Feanor and Nerdanel’s first birth being Ambarussa would change everything.
They are worried at first about having twins, but don’t worry too much and continue their travelling, knowing that when the time is close they will have a home back in Tirion either with Finwe, in Formenos with Miriel’s kin, or in the small hamlet nestled between the two cities with Mathan and Nerdanel’s kin. It isn’t until Nerdanel is in her third trimester and Feanor is kicking open Finwe’s palace doors in Tirion, stressed and about to break down in tears over how Not Well his pregnant wife is. Finwe is matching his energy and settles his daughter in law into the nicest guest suites, and even calls in some Maiar healers from Lorien to attend her.
This all may seem overboard, but this pregnancy is Not Going Well for Nerdanel. She is weak, can hardly keep down food, has terrible pains, and is plagued by nightmares of flames and sea winds for her final weeks of pregnancy. Feanor is one hairbreath away from pulling his hair out himself and sobbing at her bedside. The Maiar share some looks with each other, but tell the new parents that this can be normal, as twin pregnancies are typically hard, especially for your first time. This doesn’t calm Feanor down, if anything it makes him fret even more.
The birth goes as expected. She does end up having to have a C-section but it's quick and the Maiar perform admirably enough and there are no worries about infection or any further complications. Nerdanel is still sleeping off the poppy seeds they gave her, so Feanor gets to name their twin sons first.
The eldest, the twin with the lighter ginger puff of hair, he names Nelyafinwë. Feanor isn’t above the petty glee the snub of the name gives him. As his wife rests and he holds his sons close to his chest, he takes a moment to delight in the affront the name will bring to his half-siblings. He gives his son a quick kiss on the forehead, ignoring the lingering afterbirth that covers him, and whispers his new father-name into his perfect little ear.
The younger twin, with slightly darker hair and all his fathers love, is a little harder for Feanor to name. His birth was harder for Nerdanel, for it was after he was removed she had a slight haemorrhage, but was easily healed by the Maiar performing the C-section. Feanor loved children, he and Nerdanel joked about wanting half a dozen, enough to fill both of their workrooms with apprentices. But this pregnancy was hard, and it scared them both. Feanor would clutch both of his sons to his chest and stare at his sleeping wife, who looked so pale and worn. It was then he took a deep breath and pressed a kiss to his youngest’s forehead and named him Telufinwë. For as much as he longed for children, he didn’t have the heart to put more strain on his wife.
It is a while yet before Nerdanel wakes, so Feanor just holds his children and paces with them around the room, keeping one eye on his boys and another on his wife. Once she begins to stir, he is at her side, relief slamming into her mind via ósanwe.
They both share time just finding peace with each other. Pride, relief, excitement building between them the more Nerdanel wakes all until she is demanding to meet her sons. Her eldest, Nelyafinwë, is placed into her waiting arms and she kisses his brow and tears up. Her Mother Vision fills her sight and all she can see is her twins, all grown up and laughing and running through the woods, Laurelin’s light making their long braids look like pure copper wire swinging behind them. Ambarussa, she will name him when the vision finishes, breathless and delighted at seeing her sons grown and healthy.
Feanor, charmed at the name, bends down to pass her younger son to her. Once the child settles into her arms, however, she goes rigid from the scene of her Mother Vision. It holds her trapped, held hostage as she feels the ghostly heat of flames all around her. She almost doesn’t see her son at first, with his copper hair and Feanorian red robes, but there he is, foot entangled amongst some sailing rope at the ship he is on burns all around him. He screams as the flames crawl up his limbs and she screams with him.
Feanor calls for the Maiar and for his father before she even takes the breath to scream. He can feel her terror through their bond, the anguish that claws at them both. When Finwë and the Maiar come bursting into the room, they are just in time to hear Nerdanel scream, “My son, oh not my son! The flames! The flames!” Before the Maiar put her into a forced sleep.
Everyone is shaken. Finwë has a steadying grip on his eldest son, while Feanor clutches the twins to his chest, staring horrified at his wife. Nolofinwë and the rest of Finwë’s children crowd the doorway, heavy silence covers them all. No one will say anything, but all are thinking about Miriel.
It’s then, that Feanor whispers, that young Telufinwë was not given a mother name.
Nerdanel takes a long time to heal, especially since Feanor refuses to let her go to Lorien, afraid that if she goes, she will never come back. So she stays home, with her apprentices and her parents and many sisters and their families all visiting and helping out as they can. Feanor is so thankful that he has his wife’s family to help him with the twins. For his mother-in-law and sisters-in-law to help take over some mother roles when Nerdanel is overcome, just so their boys won’t know the pain of only having one grieving father taking care of them as he did.
As Nerdanel recovers, the twins are almost exclusively called Ambarussa. While it is a little confusing if one is trying to differentiate the two, they are hardly separated enough for that problem to really arise.
But Nerdanel does heal. Once she is well enough Feanor breaches the topic of a mother name for their youngest. She holds little Telufinwë close to her chest, this infant that is already more than a month old, and gives him the name Umbarto. It feels like a Doom settled over his young head, but she refuses any alternative names Feanor offers. No one blames the twins for insisting to both be called Ambarussa as they grow up, nor does anyone, not even Nerdanel’s kin, call the youngest Ambarussa by his mother name.

Another one — because I hate you (affectionately) for making me. Nerdanel obviously would have loved to have a daughter — imagine the wives of the sons bonding with her Nerdanel. And one day they walk into see their wives wearing one of Nerdanel's favorite dresses that she gifted them.
Idk — we wete deprived from some sweet mother in law and daughter in law bonding time 😭😣
I hate you too😂😘😘 *smother you in tons of kisses* Yes, we were deprived!!!
They would mistake you for their mother, "Oh ammë, I didn't know you were over." and walk over to greet her, only to have you turn around and give them a confused look, "Ammë? I'm not your mother, she isn't here either." Confusion would strike because you were wearing their mother's dress. Why and how were you wearing their mother's clothes? "Y-You're wearing ammë dress? Why are you wearing mummy's clothing? Are you trying to prank me or something?" Oh, how your lovers can think the worst of a simple situation at times. "Your mother gifted me her dress, how do I look?" sadly, they can't see anyone else but their mother in the dress every time you wear it around the house, giving them a heart attack. But hey, you use it when you want to straighten them out.

Ciryapandië Taryasartë - Safe seas, stubborn loyalty
Women of the elves - 3/?
[Written for @finweanladiesweek, Day 5 (Ladies who married in)]
...
Ciryapandië Taryasartë was the second daughter of a farming family in Aman. A renowned horsemaster and songstress, she wedded Maglor, the second son of Fëanor, in the Noontide of Valinor. They spent many years singing and performing together; Ciryapandië’s affection for elaborate and lovely decorations showed itself in her clothes, a habit for which she eventually became notorious in Tirion’s fashion quarter.
Their marriage deteriorated as the divide between Maglor’s father, Fëanor, and Fingolfin deepened. When Maglor chose to follow his father to Formenos, Ciryapandië told him that such an action could never be undone, and burned their house to the ground, erecting a gravestone over it and proclaiming it his grave. Maglor and his kin saw this as a crass allusion to his grandmother, Míriel, who was the first to die in Aman—they never spoke again, though Ciryapandië remained in contact with her mother-in-law, Nerdanel, who had separated from her own husband as well.
When Morgoth and Ungoliant destroyed the Trees, Ciryapandië did not follow the Noldor that chose to flee. But after she heard of the Kinslaying at Alqualondë, Ciryapandië was struck with a great fear of her own husband and wished to demand answers from him of how he could commit such an atrocity. She followed Fingolfin’s host across the Grinding Ice, disguising herself and avoiding anyone that knew her face; she was successful at it right up until the Host arrived in Beleriand and were attacked by Morgoth’s forces. Ciryapandië was severely wounded in the same battle in which Argon, Fingolfin’s youngest son, died.
Where she should have died, Ciryapandië was found by Finrod, who healed her and offered her succor in his own tent. In gratitude, Ciryapandië swore her sword and life to Finrod; Finrod, in turn, gave her the title of Taryasartë for her stubborn and unyielding loyalty, a sword hewn from his father’s mother’s kin in golden Valimar, and named her one of his scout captains. Ciryapandië never saw her husband or his family—though they were separated by less distance than they had been in many years and she’d crossed the Ice to speak to Maglor, Ciryapandië had seen the Fëanorian camp and her pity outweighed her anger. Instead, she took on the name of Alphnaeth in Beleriand and followed Finrod to Nargothrond as one of his closest advisors.
Ciryapandië was out on scouting duty and not in Nargothrond when Celegorm and Curufin’s followers arrived during the Dagor Bragollach. Desperate to keep herself away from their attention, Ciryapandië stationed herself out of Nargothrond as a scout; her hard work led to her rising high in the Nargothrond army, and after Celegorm and Curufin were expelled from the city, she returned to offer advice—still in disguise—to Orodreth. Her high rank meant that Ciryapandië was charged with leading one of the largest parties away from Nargothrond when the city finally fell.
Though Ciryapandië and the refugees accompanying her arrived first to Sirion, most of them eventually chose to shift to Balar, where Gil-galad was crowned as the eighth High King of the Noldor. Ciryapandië further distinguished herself in the War of Wrath after the Valinorian Host arrived as a talented scout and leader.
Eventually, when the Host left Beleriand, Ciryapandië chose to accompany them back to Valinor. She swore her vows anew to Finrod in Aman, finally releasing the sword that he gifted to her at Mithrim after nearly five centuries of use. Ciryapandië never loved after Maglor and took no apprentices after arriving in Aman again; indeed, she did not sing for joy until many centuries after the end of the First Age. Eventually, however, Ciryapandië returned to her songs and to her sister’s farm, where she spent many months in a year raising horses and matching her voice to the high winds.

Headcanons ahead!
Nicknames: Mír/Míre (as Finwë affectionately called her).
Visual Age: 27
Height: 7’2
Hair Style: Braided into intricate and exquisite patterns on the top of her head to keep away from her face.
Weapons: Sword fighting - she was definitely alive during the time Finwë led the Ñoldor to Valinor so I hc it is something she excels in.
Magical Ability: Perhaps none - but I hc her as becoming a disciple to Vaire (as she probably cannot become a maia), she is able to see a little into the future and weave it into tapestries (only from the line of Finwë), but obviously not as much as Vaire.
Hands: small, thin lithe fingers, squoval nails.
Types of Clothes: Gowns/dresses mostly made of velvet and unique colors like turquoise. Flowy dresses that are made to easy to move in and sat for her to sew.
How do they wear their clothes: Neatly and very put together - not a single thread out of place.
What are their feet like: Clean slippers or soft boots, rarely ever barefoot.
Mannerisms: Míriel is an expert at hiding her emotions - however she does give a proud smile and give sharp nods a lot once acquainted. She is a kind person with tough love, her affections are carried mostly through her actions and acts of service. After becoming a disciple sometimes she likes to speak in riddles.
Important/Usual Accessories: She wears classy hairpin sticks most of the time.
Tumblr media
ABOUT:
Alignment: Lawful Good
Occupation: Disciple of Vaire.
Likes: Art, reading, sewing, embroidery
Dislikes: Arguing, war, swords - ever though she has good swordsmanship, she hates having to use it.
Favorite Colors: Any soft, unique and pastel colors. Her favorite turquoise because it is a color unique as her hair to the elves.
Literature: She likes to read a variety of genres - she loves mysteries the most, she is not able to tell what is coming in books so loves reading a lot and make up her theories.
Hobbies: sewing, reading.
Tumblr media
PERSONALITY:
Personal Triggers: Weapons, abuse and wrongs in her family (yes, of course she considers Indis family).
What words or phrases do they over use: “By my lady Vairë” or “There is nothing I can do. . .only weave it.”
Are they more optimistic or pessimistic: Optimistic in Valinor, pessimistic in the Halls of Mandos at first but grew optimistic again when she realized she could weave the the deeds of her family. But pessimistic again when Fëanáro creates and commits to the oath and all events that followed - she was in depression for a long time until her sons and grandchildren regretted and served their punishments.
Love Language: Acts of service, quality time and physical touch.
Strongest Character Trait: Her abilities as a weaver and the expertness to hid her emotions.
Weakest Character Trait: Can be stubborn sometimes - but in her own calm way without having to raise her voice.
Greatest Fear: Morgoth winning - and Fëanáro at one stage.
Overrated Virtue: Temperance and solemnity
If they could change one thing about themselves: To be able to do something when she weaves in a misfortune in the line of Finwë - she is only just a weaver and cannot prevent fate, but she wishes to change it or fix it.
Songs I associate with Míriel: Skyfall by Adele, Can’t Pretend by Tom Odell and Scars Leave Beautiful Trace by Car the Garden (Alchemy of Souls OST).

EXTRA NOTES:
Later when Míriel becomes the handmaid of Vairë — they're bonding over the art of sowing — and became very close friends. Neither talk much; small smiles shared — but sometimes becomes each others words of advise and wisdom. Míriel then becomes the disciple of Vairë.
Míriel would be in two minds about seeing – heartbroken seeing her little flame has become someone as dangerous as Morgoth, that would scare her. She might refuse to meet him a few times as first – but would him from afar without him knowing.
Then, seeing how he acts in the halls of Mandos and if he regrets his actions and ready take his punishments, then she would be more willing to see and talk to him. Definitely a few awkward meetings at first – she would not know what to say and probably maintain a distance as much as it hurts her too. Then, slowly warm up go him seeing him grieve for his own sons.

submission from @jhelenivarsimae for FLW 2022, Day 6!
Lírëanna Kanafinwiel was the only daughter of Maglor Kanafinwë and his beloved wife, Linherí Songweaver. She was raised in Mastomahtano by her grandmother, Nerdanel, and her great-grandfather, Mahtan. Lintarwë, heart-brother to Linherí and Kanafinwë, brought her up as his own child, and Lírëanna believed for many years that Lintarwë was her true father. However, Lintarwë would eventually recount to her the tragic tale of her parents, and why she had neither mother nor father on the day she was born. Lírëanna learned that her mother was close to the day of her labour when the Kinslaying at Alqualondë occured. With full belief in the rightousness of her and her husband's decision to follow her father-in-law across the sea, her mother took part in the battle that was fought at the harbour. But before Linherí and Kanafinwë could board a ship, an arrow found her heart, and she collapsed into the crimson sand.
Lintarwë could not recall what happened to Kanafinwë, or what he did when he saw that his wife had fallen. All he knew was that when he found her, she was inches away from Mandos, and seconds later, she died. However, Lintarwë knew that her child yet lived, for he could feel the child's fea clinging to life. Thus, he did what he needed to do. Lintarwë took Lírëanna from her mother's womb and nursed her from his own breast as he wrapped her in her mother's torn skirts.
Naturally, Lírëanna found it difficult to accept and felt abandoned by her father for sailing across the sea in the name of revenge, and her mother who chose to accompany Miriel in Vairë's service, rather than to return to life and live with her own daughter.
Years passed and Lírëanna soon joined her foster father to live in Taniquetil after Lintarwë made amends with his paramour, Ingwë. There she lived in the royal palace, surrounded by grandeur and quickly won both the affection and disdain of the courtiers. Though she was likable, and her musical talent brought back the light of Linherí Songweaver into the gilded halls where she too once sang and performed, Lírëanna was a mischievous and cunning elf who took pleasure in pranks and mischief. She bowed to no one's reprimand, except for Lintarwë's or Ingwë's, and she made few friends amongst her Vanyarin cousins who disliked her on account of her wild and precocious personality, and her seeming lack of piety towards the Valar whom they revered.
Eventually, Lírëanna would grow into gracefulness and her mischief became tempered with her wit. She developed a sharp tongue, apparently inheriting her father's eloquence. She became friends with Ingwion, and she took great delight in Lintarwë's young daughter, who she loved like a little sister. She also visited her grandmother in Mastomahtano where she learned Nerdanel's craft, and Tirion where she stupefied Arafinwë's courtiers with songs and music so eeriely reminiscent of her mother and father's own performances.
She later joined the Host of the Valar with her foster father, Lintarwë, and sailed to Beleriand with the intention of seeking out her father. She did not find him, however, and instead met Elros and Elrond, the peredhel twins her father and uncle raised. Lírëanna found it difficult to get along with the twins at first, but eventually she was able to move past the bitterness in her heart that she kept for her father, and Lírëanna embraced them as her own younger brothers.
It was through Elros that she met Urwë of Gondolin, foster son of Lord Duilin Tuilindo. He was also Lintarwë's estranged son, who had followed his uncles across the ice as a young boy, determined to flee from his fathers and the gilded court of Ingwë where he found himself caged like a pretty bird in a garden. Though he was distant and aloof to her first attempts at friendship, Urwë eventually softened to her bright and sunny nature and grew to love her as his friend. And later on he loved her as his paramour, the first he took since the fall of his city. When asked why Lírëanna chose to pursue Erenion's aloof protector, Lírëanna reasoned that she had never seen such clever eyes like his, and never had she seen a face so filled with sorrow and beauty.
Of course, Lintarwë had the simpler explanation. Urwë was her muse, and how could an artist part with inspiration? Lírëanna had fallen for Urwë's handsome looks, and was determined to befriend him if only to continue gazing upon the face that led her to compose her most beautiful of songs.
The two of them were wed in the years following the War of Wrath and the end of the First Age and though she never returned to Valinor, she and her husband enjoyed a comfortable place in the court of Lindon before they dwelled in Numenor with her brother, Elros, who wished to have her closer to him so that she may advice him on all matters.
