How would an Illuminator of Manuscripts prepare a Gospel Book today? The mosaic above is from a monastery called Nea Moni on the island of Chios in Greece. A medieval Illuminator would likely start a Gospel Book with Matthew, but he'd have trouble including a mosaic. I just copy a photograph of a mosaic called Matthew, and I'm on my way.

Visit Athens and feel the beat of sailing, the vibes of summertime. Apart from being a historic city, Athens is also the center of navigation, shipping and leisure cruises. Our yachts base is located in Alimos Marina, the heart of sailing in Greece. The Saronic Gulf is the most popular destination from Athens.

Located on the Greek island of Chios is another treasure from Greece’s long history, now listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Nea Moni, or “New Monastery,” which was built in the 11th century, was constructed on the slopes of Mt. Provateio, approximately 15 kilometers from Chios town.
It houses some of the finest mosaics in all of the history of what is known as the “Macedonian Renaissance.”
The monastery was built in the mid-11th century by Byzantine emperor Constantine IX Monomachos and his wife, Empress Zoe.
Legend has it that Constantine, who at the time was exiled on the nearby island of Lesvos, was visited by three monks who had miraculously found an icon of the Virgin Mary hanging from a myrtle branch.
The monks then told Constantine that they had had a vision in which he had triumphed after his time of exile and become Emperor. Constantine agreed to construct a large church if this vision indeed became reality, and in 1042, after that exact event had taken place, he began construction of the edifice, dedicated to the Virgin Mary herself.

Nea Moni Monastery, Chios (Greece)
The Nea Moni Monastery on Chios was established by Constantine Monomachos in 1043-1056. The exceptional mosaic decoration of the dome showing probably the nine orders of the angels was destroyed in 1822 but other panels survived (Theotokos with raised hands, four evangelists with seraphim, scenes from Christ's life and an interesting Anastasis where King Salomon bears resemblance to Constantine Monomachos). In comparison with Osios Loukas Nea Moni mosaics contain more figures, detail, landscape and setting.

I was wondering if you have any favorite artists / works or a specific era you prefer to study. I suspect this might be hard to answer, sorry! ♡
Oh anon, thank you so much for the question and sorry for the time it took to answer! You’re right, this is a very tough question, but thanks for the chance to speak about some of my most favourite subjects. I suppose you are talking about art history, so I can tell you first hand,I find it very hard to choose. Every era and artistic movement has amazing artists and beautiful themes, and moreso all are organic and important to the history of art. Renaissance,mannerism,neoclassicism,impressinionism,orientalism,realism,surrealism..furthermore Hindu schools of painting,Persian miniatures,Japanese ukiyo-e artists, painters of Native Americans,Golden age of illustration….I could list you countless examples of artists and works I adore. But since that would be inconvenient, I will speak about five of my most favourite artistic eras with a small showcase of my most favourite artists. I hope you find it satisfying :)
1. Byzantine (and western medieval art). After all that is what I’m studying right now!
Nea Moni of Chios,Chios,Greece (11th century).
La Martorana, Sicily,Italy (12th century)
Naumburg Cathedral,Naumburg,Germany (13th century).
2. Early and classic Renaissance:
Sandro Botticelli - Italian Renaissance (15th century)
Albrecht Dürer - German Renaissance (16th century)
Michelangelo Buonarrotti - Italian Renaissance (16th century)
3. Baroque :
Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (Italian,16th-17th century)
Johannes Vermeer (Dutch, 17th century)
Diego de Silva y Velasquez (Spanish, 17th century)
Gian Lorenzo Bernini (Italian,17th century)
4. Pre-Raphaelites and the wider cycle of historical and literary painters of the Victorian Age:
Dante Gabriel Rossetti (English,19th century)
Maria Spartali Stillman (Greek-British,19th century)
Edmund Blair Leighton (English,19th century)
5. Symbolism :
Gustave Moreau (French,19th century)
Odilon Redon ((French,19th-20th century)
Nicholas Roerich (Russian,20th century)
Plus,as a bonus, maybe my most beloved artist ever!
Domenikos Theotokopoulos / El Greco (Greek, Spanish Mannerism,16th-17th century)
And I didn’t even get into all of my beloved architecture!
Hope that was satisfying. If you’d like, stick around. I plan on focusing some more on my favourite artists and periods and maybe upoloading original and more obscure content.
Thanks once more! Drop by again!

why i created this account: I watched youtubers play the beta of this game, and during the free to play weekend when the nurse and nea came out i played it and decided that I really liked it even tho at the time i wasn’t into horror games at all. SO i asked for the monies to buy it and I bought it and have been hooked. I’ve been a lurker on tumblr for the rpc since the beta, but since I was still in school it was hard for me to do things afterwards, so after school ended and then some after some personal tragedy and hardships, i decided to try rp’ing as a way to escape and put my passion of writing and stories into something real and enjoyable by others... so here I am! NGL I nearly quit a few times but my oldest friend Oli helped me out and I’m very happy to be one of the oldies here and gosh this got long.
