If I attack with a Shakedown Heavy and my opponent has a Narset Parter Of Veils in play, can my opponent still remove Shakedown Heavy from combat with its triggered ability?

No, they can't.

Narset's static ability makes it impossible for you to draw more than one card each turn, so they can't choose for you to do something impossible when Shakedown Heavy attacks.

This is the case only because of how Shakedown Heavy's trigger is worded. If it said something like "Whenever Shakedown Heavy attacks, defending player may untap it and remove it from combat. If they do, draw a card." then they could choose to do so because you drawing isn't what they're directly choosing to have happen.

this card is suuuper borderline. i can't tell if it's super strong and flexible or if the cost of giving your opponent a card is too high for this to see play. but in any case, i can sense the stock in narset parter of veils going up again.

if this card does break through and sees play, it's going to be a nice bump in power level for the slitherwisp flash shell.

What was the reasoning behind giving blue anti-draw (like Narset, Parter of Veils) instead of black? It basically seems like preemptive discard to me.

There are a lot of effects that we split into different colors with different variations to give them each their own feel.

Very Fun & Friendly Combo!

Here is a fun idea to bring to your next EDH game between friends! :)

First, you cast a Narset, Parter of Veils, one of the most fun planeswalkers :)

Then, an opponent uses Banishing Light on Narset because they wanted to draw some cards and Narset wouldn’t let them :(

Lastly, you cast The Great Aurora for everyone to shuffle their library, graveyard & hand and draw that many car- oh wait Narset came back I guess they won’t be drawing any cards :(

Say you drew a card already and Narset, Parter of Veils is out on the opponent's side, could you kick Blink of an Eye to bounce her and still draw the extra card?

Yes, this works.

Blink of an Eye removes Narset from the battlefield before it instructs you to draw a card, so Narset’s restriction is no longer in effect and you’re free to draw as many cards as you can at that time.

this is fucking mental. the initial static is pretty insane; it accomplishes three things. one, it gives a +1 to walkers who didn't already have one, like narset parter of veils. two, it turns your planeswalkers into proliferate engines that stack really, really well. and three, any walker with a weak or no ult now has an expensive way to cash in on all their extra loyalty.

then there's more text on the card. whenever you trigger prowess, it gives you a mini proliferate. this, combined with the previous static, can turbo accelerate your planeswalkers to ulting. without a planeswalker, it can still mini-proliferate something with a relevant counter, like a blast zone or a creature with a shield counter.

immediately, i'm thinking UW control with this. a list that already naturally plays narset, teferi, and wemperor can use this to pull huge amounts of loyalty counters out of nowhere and randomly ult a teferi in games you would normally spend an eternity trying to turtle him through multiple attack swings and kill spells. this win-out-of-nowhere potential could swing the mirror match in your favor.

in commander, this does a couple things. on the face, any kind of infinite cast combo like dramatic scepter becomes infinite turns with a planeswalker out. most chain veil lines become easily infinite from the bevy of loyalty counters, and provides a natural wincon through the ultimate.
